1A heavy mineral viewpoint on sediment provenance and environment in the Qiongdongnan Basin显示文摘Based on heavy mineral data in core samples from eleven drillings, supplemented by paleontological, element geochemical and seismic data, the evolution of sediment provenance and environment in the Qiongdongnan Basin(QDNB) was analysed. The results show that the basement in the QDNB was predominantly composed of terrigenous sediments. Since the Oligocene the QDNB has gradually undergone transgressions and evolution processes in sedimentary environment from terrestrial-marine transitional to littoral-neritic, neritic, and bathyal roughly. The water depth showed a gradually increasing trend and was generally greater in the southern region than that in the northern region in the same time. With changes in sedimentary environment, provenances of the strata(from the Yacheng Formation to the Yinggehai Formation) showed principal characteristics of multisources, evolving from autochthonous source, short source to distant source step by step. During the Early Oligocene, the sediments were mainly proximal basaltic pyroclastic source and adjacent terrigenous clastic source, afterwards were becoming distant terrigenous clastic sources, including Hainan Island on the north,Yongle Uplift on the south, Shenhu Uplift on the northeast, the Red River System on the northwest and Indochina Peninsula on the southwest, or even a wider region. The Hainan Island provenance began to develop during the Early Oligocene and has become a main provenance in the QDNB since the Middle Miocene. The provenances from Yongle Uplift and Shenhu Uplift most developed from the Late Oligocene to the Early Miocene and gradually subsided during the Middle Miocene. During the Late Miocene, as a main source of sediments filled in the central canyon, the Red River System provenance added to the QDNB massively, whose impact terminated at the end of the Pliocene. The western Yinggehai Basin(YGHB) provenance derived from Indochina Peninsula had developed from the Pliocene on to the Pleistocene. 2Generation of seed lipoxygenase-free soybean using CRISPR-Cas9显示文摘Beany flavor induced by three lipoxygenases(LOXs, including LOX1, LOX2, and LOX3)restricts human consumption of soybean. It is desirable to generate lipoxygenase-free new mutant lines to improve the eating quality of soybean oil and protein products. In this study, a pooled clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats(CRISPR)-CRISPRassociated protein 9(Cas9) strategy targeting three GmLox genes(GmLox1, GmLox2, and GmLox3) was applied and 60 T_0 positive transgenic plants were generated, carrying combinations of sg RNAs and mutations. Among them, GmLox-28 and GmLox-60 were gmlox1 gmlox2 gmlox3 triple mutants and GmLox-40 was a gmlox1 gmlox2 double mutant.Sequencing of T_1 mutant plants derived from GmLox-28, GmLox-60, and GmLox-40 showed that mutation in the GmLox gene was inherited by the next generation. Colorimetric assay revealed that plants carrying different combinations of mutations lost the corresponding lipoxygenase activities. Transgene-free mutants were obtained by screening the T_2 generation of lipoxygenase-free mutant lines(GmLox-28 and GmLox-60). 3Genetic diversity,population structure,and relationships of apricot(Prunus)based on restriction site-associated DNA sequencing显示文摘Single-nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)are the most abundant form of genomic polymorphisms and are widely used in population genetics research.Here,high-throughput sequencing was used to examine the genome-level diversity,population structure,and relationships of apricot,which are important for germplasm conservation and molecular breeding.Restriction site-associated DNA sequencing(RAD-seq)was adopted to sequence 168 Prunus spp.accessions distributed in five ecological groups,including 74 accessions of cultivated Prunus armeniaca L.and 94 accessions of wild apricots(P.armeniaca L.and Prunus sibirica L.),which generated 417,961 high-quality SNPs.We used cluster,genetic structure,and principal component analyses to examine the genetic diversities and genetic relationships of the 168 accessions.The Dzhungar-Ili ecological group accessions showed the highest genetic diversity in terms of private allele number,observed heterozygosity,and nucleotide diversity.We speculate that the Central Asian ecological group accessions were domesticated from the Dzhungar-Ili ecological group accessions.The population structure and gene flow of the North China and European ecological group accessions suggested a genetic background of P.sibirica.We argue that the two groups should be considered hybrid swarms connected to P.sibirica by continuous and extensive gene flow.P.armeniaca originated in Northwest China(Ili Valley),subsequently spread throughout Central Asia,and eventually spread to Europe.In addition,selective sweep signatures in P.armeniaca during domestication from wild to cultivated apricots,combined with differentially expressed genes,underlie distinct fruit traits,including sugars,aromas,organic acids,and carotenoids.This study provides substantive and valuable genomic resources that will significantly advance apricot improvement and effective utilization.Wenwen Li Liqiang Liu Yanan Wang Qiuping Zhang Guoquan Fan Shikui Zhang Yatong Wang Kang Liao 2020Horticulture Research2020,7,1:9
4Heavy metals in Changjiang estuarine and offshore sediments:responding to human activities显示文摘The Changjiang (Yangtze) estuarine and offshore sediments were analyzed for total heavy metals concentrations and chemical fractions.Distributions of heavy metals show typical banded diffusion pattern,with high concentrations near the river mouth and following a decreasing trend in the offshore direction.According to chemical fractions,Fe/Mn oxide fraction is the major non-residual fraction in the Changjiang estuarine and offshore sediments.Higher percentage of non-residual fraction of Pb implies that,the industrial contaminations transported via the atmosphere and river input,may affect the non-residual fraction of heavy metals.Over past fifteen years,the concentration of Pb normalizing to Al presents significant increasing trend,corresponding to the effect of human activities.By comparison of heavy metals fractions in 2003 to 2006,it has been realized that increasing water and sediment may cause a higher percentage non-residual fraction of Cu in the southern part of offshore muddy sediments.DONG Aiguo ZHAI Shikui Matthias Zabel YU Zenghui ZHANG Huaijing LIU Feifei 2012Acta Oceanologica Sinica2012,31,2:8
5Filling of the Three Gorges Reservoir to the 135-m Level: Instant Effects on the Yangtze Discharge and Suspended Sediment Concentration Entering the Estuary显示文摘Via the valuable opportunity of the Three Gorges Reservoir (TGR) 135-m filling in June 2003, the Yangtze discharge and suspended sediment concentration (SSC) entering the estuary during the period from 15 May to 15 July 2003 were analyzed to examine the instant effects of the filling on them. The Yangtze discharge and SSC entering the estuary in the periods before, during and after the filling clearly indicated three phases: 1) the pre-storage phase characterized by natural conditions, in which the SSC increased with increasing water discharge; 2) the storage phase, during which the SSC decreased dramatically with decreasing water discharge; and 3) the post-storage phase, during which both the SSC and water discharge remained at relatively low levels first until the end of June, then the SSC increased gradually with increasing water discharge. It seems that the times for the instant effects of the decreasing discharge downstream from the upper Yangtze on the Yangtze discharge and SSC entering the estuary due to the TGR 135-m filling to take place were about 5 d and 1 d respectively, while both were about 18 d for those of the increasing discharge. This probably reflects the buffering and resultantly hysteresis of the 1800-km stretch from the upper Yangtze to the estuary. 6PaPYL9 is involved in the regulation of apricot fruit ripening through ABA signaling pathway显示文摘Abscisic acid(ABA)is a major regulator of non-climacteric fruit ripening;however,the role of ABA in the ripening of climacteric fruit is not clear.Here,as a typical climacteric fruit,apricots were used to investigate the role of ABA in fruit ripening.Based on weighted gene coexpression network analysis(WGCNA)of our previous transcriptome data,we treated‘Danxing’fruit with exogenous ABA and obtained ABA receptor genes,genes related to ABA biosynthesis and signal transduction,and analyzed the response of these candidate genes to exogenous ABA during fruit ripening.Subsequently,the full length of candidate PYLs genes were cloned,and their putative function were analyzed by phylogenetic analysis and protein structure domain analysis.And then the function of one candidate gene PaPYL9 was verified by using transgenic tomato.Furthermore,the response genes in transgenic tomato were screened by transcriptome sequencing,and ultimately the related regulatory network was proposed.The results showed that the injection of exogenous 1.89 mmol·L^(-1) ABA remarkably promoted fruit coloration,and increased the color index for red grapes(CIRG)and the total soluble solids(TSS)content,but significantly decreased the firmness and titratable acid(TA)content(p<0.01).Nordihydroguaiaretic acid(NDGA),the inhibitor of ABA,appeared to have the converse role in TA,TSS,CIRG and firmness,during the ripening process.One NCED(9-cis-epoxycarotenoiddioxygenase)and five ABA receptor genes related to signal transduction were mined from the transcriptome data of apricot fruit through WGCNA.Compared with the control,the expression levels of NCED1,PYL9(PYR/PYL/RCAR),SnRK2(SUCROSE NON-FERMENTING1(SNF1)-RELATED PROTEIN KINASE 2S),and ABF2(ABRE-binding bZIP transcription)were induced dramatically by ABA treatment(p<0.01),while NDGA treatment significantly inhibited their expression.Based on gene expression and protein domain analysis,we inferred that PaPYL9 is putatively involved in apricot fruit ripening.Overexpression of PaPYL9 in Micro-TOM tomatoes resulted in the promotion of early ripening.Simultaneously,the expression levels of genes related ethylene biosynthesis,chlorophyll degradation,fruit softening,flavor formation,pigment synthesis,and metabolism were all significantly induced in overexpression of PaPYL9 tomatoes.This indicates the central role of ABA in climacteric fruit ripening.A regulatory network was tentatively proposed,laying the foundation to unveil the molecular mechanism of the regulatory role of PaPYL9 in fruit ripening.Mengxiao Jia Jing Feng Lina Zhang Shikui Zhang Wanpeng Xi 2022Horticultural Plant Journal2022,8,4:2
7Heavy metals in suspended matters during a tidal cycle in the turbidity maximum around the Changjiang(Yangtze) Estuary显示文摘In order to discuss the content distributions and fluxes of heavy metals in suspended matters during a tidal cycle in the turbidity maximum around the Changjiang(Yangtze) Estuary,the contents of heavy metals(Zn,Pb,Cd,Co and Ni) have been analyzed.During a tidal cycle,the average contents of heavy metals are in the order of Zn>Ni>Pb>Co àCd.The average contents in ebb tide are generally higher than that in flood tide.However,at the inshore Sta.11,influenced by the contamination from the nearby waste treatment plant,the average contents of Zn and Ni in flood tide are higher than those in ebb tide and at the offshore Sta.10,the content of Cd in flood tide higher than that in ebb tide due to marine-derived materials.The five heavy metals,mainly terrigenous,are transported towards east-northeast,and settle down with suspended matters in the area between Sta.11 and Sta.10.Influenced by marine-derived materials,the flux value of Cd does not alter significantly with obviously changing in flux direction towards northwest.The source of heavy metals,the salinity of water and the concentration of suspended matters are the main factors controlling the content distributions of heavy metals during a tidal cycle.There is a positive correlation between the contents of heavy metals(Zn,Pb,Co and Ni) and the salinity of water,while the opposite correlation between the contents and the concentrations of suspended matters.Because of marine-derived materials,the content of Cd is not correlated with the concentration of suspended matters and the salinity of water.ZHANG Huaijing ZHAI Shikui ZHANG Aibin ZHOU Yonghua YU Zenghui 2015Acta Oceanologica Sinica2015,34,10:1
8Excessive plant compensatory growth:a potential endogenous driver of meadow degradation on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau显示文摘Degradation of meadow ecosystems in the largest alpine region of the world,i.e.,the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau(QTP),is a crucial ecological issue that has ardently discussed in recent years.Many factors,such as livestock overgrazing,climate change and overpopulation of small mammals are treated as important factors that cause the degradation of meadow ecosystems in the QTP.However,there are few hypotheses focus on the potential role of plant compensatory growth on meadow degradation.We proposed a compensatory growth-related hypothesis to understand the potential degradation process of meadow ecosystems in the QTP.We discussed that there are two stages of meadow degradation,i.e.the beginning stage of meadow degradation that is triggered by high-strength overcompensation;and the intensification stage of meadow degradation,which are driven by external factors such as climate warming,small mammals and thawing of permafrost.The mechanism of meadow degradation driven by plant compensatory growth is the asynchronism of plant consumption and the availability of soil nutrients.Our hypothesis that plant compensatory growth drives meadow degradation under the overgrazing condition requires re-examination and modification by testing the balance between soil nutrient cycling rates and the strength of plant compensatory growth in alpine regions.Yong Zhang Hasbagan Ganjurjav Shikui Dong Qingzhu Gao 2020Ecosystem Health and Sustainability2020,6,1:1
9A General Method for the Synthesis of Hybrid Nanostructures Using MoSe_(2) Nanosheet-Assembled Nanospheres as Templates显示文摘The layered transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDs)and transition metal phosphides are low-cost,earth-abundant,and robust electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).Integrating them into hybrid nanostructures is potentially promising to further boost the catalytic activity toward HER based on their synergistic effects.Herein,we report a general method for the synthesis of a series of MoSe_(2)-based hybrid nanostructures,including MoSe_(2)-Ni_(2)P,MoSe_(2)-Co_(2)P,MoSe_(2)-Ni,MoSe_(2)-Co,and MoSe_(2)-NiS,by postgrowth of Ni_(2)P,Co_(2)P,Ni,Co,and NiS nanostructures on the presynthesized MoSe_(2) nanosheet-assembled nanospheres,respectively,via a colloidal synthesis method.As a proof-of-concept application,the as-synthesized hybrid nanostructures are used as electrocatalysts for HER,exhibiting high activity and stability in acidic media.Among them,the MoSe_(2)-Co_(2)P composite shows the highest HER activity with an overpotential of 167 mV at 10 mA cm^(-2).Shikui Han Kai Zhou Yifu Yu Chaoliang Tan Junze Chen Ying Huang Qinglang Ma Ye Chen Hongfei Cheng Weijia Zhou Hua Zhang 2019Research2019,,1:1

13Land cover classification in a mixed forest-grassland ecosystem using LResU-net and UAV imagery显示文摘Using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) paired with image semantic segmentation to classify land cover within natural vegetation can promote the development of forest and grassland field. Semantic segmentation normally excels in medical and building classification, but its usefulness in mixed forest-grassland ecosystems in semi-arid to semi-humid climates is unknown. This study proposes a new semantic segmentation network of LResU-net in which residual convolution unit (RCU) and loop convolution unit (LCU) are added to the U-net framework to classify images of different land covers generated by UAV high resolution. The selected model enhanced classification accuracy by increasing gradient mapping via RCU and modifying the size of convolution layers via LCU as well as reducing convolution kernels. To achieve this objective, a group of orthophotos were taken at an altitude of 260 m for testing in a natural forest-grassland ecosystem of Keyouqianqi, Inner Mongolia, China, and compared the results with those of three other network models (U-net, ResU-net and LU-net). The results show that both the highest kappa coefficient (0.86) and the highest overall accuracy (93.7%) resulted from LResU-net, and the value of most land covers provided by the producer’s and user’s accuracy generated in LResU-net exceeded 0.85. The pixel-area ratio approach was used to calculate the real areas of 10 different land covers where grasslands were 67.3%. The analysis of the effect of RCU and LCU on the model training performance indicates that the time of each epoch was shortened from U-net (358 s) to LResU-net (282 s). In addition, in order to classify areas that are not distinguishable, unclassified areas were defined and their impact on classification. 15Geochemical Characteristics of the Trace and Rare Earth Elements in Reef Carbonates from the Xisha Islands(South China Sea): Implications for Sediment Provenance and Paleoenvironment显示文摘Based on the concentrations of the trace elements,rare earth elements(REE),and Sr isotopic compositions in reef carbonates from the well‘Xike-1’reef core of the Xisha Islands,the constraints on sediment provenance and paleoenvironment were defined.Variations of the terrigenous input into the paleoseawater were traced in detail and the paleoenvironment and sediment provenance were further investigated.The results show that the HREE/LREE values in the reef carbonates are negatively associated with their Th and Al concentrations;however,their Al and Th concentrations show positive correlation.The lowest 87 Sr/86 Sr values in the reef carbonates generally coincide with the lowest values of Al,Th concentrations and the highest values of HREE/LREE.These data indicate that the HREE/LREE,Al concentrations,and Th concentrations of the reef carbonates are useful indexes for evaluating the influence of the terrigenous inputs on the seawater composition in the study area.From top to bottom,the changing process of the HREE/LREE values and Al,Th concentrations can be divided into 6 intervals;they are H1(0–89.30 m,about 0–0.11 Myr),L1(89.30–198.30 m,about 0.11–2.2 Myr),H2(198.30–374.95 m,about 2.2–5.3 Myr),D(374.95–758.40 m,about 5.3–13.6 Myr),L2(758.40–976.86 m,about 13.6–15.5 Myr),and H3(976.86–1200.00 m,about 15.5–21.5 Myr).Moreover,the changing trend of the HREE/LREE values coincides with that of the seawater δ^13C values recorded by benthonic foraminiferal skeletons from the drill core of ODP site 1148 in the South China Sea(SCS),but not with that of the seawaterδ18O values.The high uplifting rates of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau coincide with the high Th and Al concentrations and the low HREE/LREE values in the reef carbonates.These data indicate that the main factors controlling the changes of terrigenous flux in the SCS are the tectonic activities associated with Qinghai-Tibet Plateau uplifting and the variations of uplifting rates rather than paleoclimatic changes.BI Dongjie ZHAI Shikui ZHANG Daojun XIU Chun LIU Xinyu LIU Xiaofeng JIANG Longjie ZHANG Aibin 2019Journal of Ocean University of China2019,18,6:1

18Magma Evolution Processes in the Southern Okinawa Trough:Insights from Melt Inclusions显示文摘The Okinawa Trough is an initial back-arc basin that is influenced by the subduction of the Philippine Sea Plate and develops on the continental crust.The Okinawa Trough is a natural laboratory for the study of basin evolution,magmatism,and crustmantle processes in the early stage of back-arc spreading.Melt inclusions are small droplets of magma that are captured during the mineral crystallization process and can record the geochemical composition changes during magma evolution.In this study,the geochemical compositions of melt inclusions in host plagioclases of two volcanic rock samples at Station nos.9-1 and 9-2 from the southern Okinawa Trough are systematically analyzed.Based on previous studies,the origin and evolution of magma and the introduction of subducting materials in the study area are discussed.Results show that melt inclusions are characterized by the relative enrichment of large-ion lithophile elements,depletion of high-field-strength elements,and slight enrichment of rare earth elements.Indeed,the subduction of the Philippine Sea Plate introduced sediment-derived melts and fluids into the magma source area of the southern Okinawa Trough.Subsequently,4%to 5%partial melting of the hydrated mantle produces basaltic magma.The melt inclusions of andesite and dacite investigated in this study were formed by fractional crystallization of basaltic magma.Finally,the crystallization of plagioclase,pyroxene,and magnetite occurred during the late stage of magma evolution.The temperature-pressure data show that the melt inclusions in plagioclase have two capture periods:one is at temperatures above 1250℃and the other is at temperatures between 1180℃and 1200℃.The capture pressure of the inclusions at temperatures between 1180℃and 1200℃is between 5.6 kPa and 6.1 kPa,corresponding to the depth of 15–17 km below the seafloor.The geochemical characteristics of major and trace elements in inclusions show that the samples from two stations(i.e.,9-1 and 9-2)have similar or identical magma source areas.However,the crystallization differentiation reflected by inclusions in sample 9-1 is more obvious than that in sample 9-2.The inclusions were captured during magma evolution and were not contaminated by crustal materials.ZHANG Yujiao ZHAI Shikui 2021Journal of Ocean University of China2021,20,6:1
19Geochemical Features of Trace and Rare Earth Elements of Pumice in Middle Okinawa Trough and Its Indication of Magmatic Process显示文摘Pumice,the most widely distributed volcanic rock in Okinawa Trough,is loose and porous.Since its formation,it has definitely suffered from the denudation of the sea to different degrees.In order to truly reveal the geochemical features of pumice,we choose the method of mineral separation.Firstly,the phenocryst is separated from glass.Then the phenocryst is divided into light and heavy mineral compositions.By ICP-MS(inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry) analytical technology,the contents of trace and rare earth elements in the whole pumice,the glass and the heavy and light mineral compositions are determined respectively.By researching the elemental geochemical features,the magma dynamic processes are found.It shows that the initial magma for the pumice in Okinawa Trough came from the depleted mantle,from which the N-MORB(normal type of mid-ocean ridge basalt) is formed,homologous with the local basalts.But they are formed in different periods of magma crystal fractionation.Featured with sufficient crystal fractionation for pumice,it is found that the earlier crystallizing minerals are olivine,plagioclase and pyroxene.The pumice magma,formed from the depleted mantle,was mixed with additional subduction-related materials(components),and contaminated with the mass from upper crust when it rose up into the crust.As the Okinawa Trough is a back-arc basin in its early back-arc spreading stage,its magmatism has a series of its own unique characteristics,different from not only the mid-ocean ridge expansion,but also the mature back-arc basin.ZHAI Shikui GUO Kun ZONG Tong YU Zenghui WANG Shujie CAI Zongwei ZHANG Xia 2017Journal of Ocean University of China2017,16,2:1
20Self-incompatibility Characteristics of 34 Apricot Cultivars in Xinjiang显示文摘[Objective] This study aimed to explore the relationship between self-incompatibility strength and characteristics related to pollination and fertilization of different apricot varieties in Xinjiang. [Method] The pollen amount,pollen germination rate,pollen tube growth status and fruiting setting rate by self-pollination of 34 apricot cultivars in Xinjiang were determined,to analyze the self-incompatibility of different apricot cultivars. [Result] The average pollen amount per anther of 34 apricot cultivars was 1 213. 7,and the average pollen germination rate was 46. 0%. There were great differences in the self-incompatibility of different cultivars; most pollen tubes of the cultivars with high self-incompatibility stopped elongating at 1 /3 or 1 /2 part of the styles,and only a few pollen tubes of the cultivars with low self-incompatibility reached the ovary,and the normal fertilization ratio was significantly lower than that in self-compatible cultivars.
