| 1 | Improvement of wheat drought and salt tolerance by expression of a stress- inducible transcription factorGmDREB of soybean (Glycinemax)显示文摘Under stress conditions such as droughthigh-salinity and low-temperature, the transcription factorof DREB (dehydration responsive element binding proteins)improved efficiently stress resistance by regulating the ex-pression of its downstream genes with various environmentastress resistance in plants. GmDREB gene (GenBank Acces-sion No. AF514908) encoding a stress-inducible transcriptionfactor was cloned by screening a cDNA library of Glycinemax cv. Jinong 27 with yeast one-hybrid method. GmDREBgene was 910 bp in length and encoded 174 amino acids con-taining a conserved AP2/EREBP DNA-binding domain of 58amino acids. Two conserved functional amino acids, valineand glutamic acid, were located on the 14th and the 19thamino acid residues in the conserved structural domain. Analkaline amino acid region (KKR) related to a nuclear local-ization signal was at the N-terminal, while an acidic aminoacid region (DDD) related to trans-activation was at theC-terminal. Plant expression vectors were constructed andtransformed into wheat by bombardment. In total, 13 trans-genic plants with Ubi::GmDREB and 11 transgenic plantswith rd29A::GmDREB were identified from 103 regenerationplants by molecular analysis. The drought and salt tolerancesof T1 transgenic lines with Ubi::GmDREB orrd29A::GmDREB were demonstrated to be improved ascompared to wild type. | 2 | Enhanced mechanical properties and degradation rate of Mg-Ni-Y alloy by introducing LPSO phase for degradable fracturing ball applications显示文摘In this work,as-cast Mg-Ni-Y alloys were proposed to develop a feasible material for fracturing balls,and their mechanical performance and corrosion behavior were systematically investigated.Long period stacking order(LPSO)phase was firstly introduced to improve both the mechanical properties and degradation rate of magnesium alloys.With the increase of LPSO phase,the compressive strength was improved significantly,while the elongation of the alloys decreased owing to the relatively brittle nature of LPSO phase.Due to the higher corrosion potential of LPSO phase,the LPSO phase can accelerate the corrosion process by providing more micro-couples.However,the LPSO phase would serve as the corrosion barrier between the corrosion medium and the matrix when the contents of LPSO phase are too high in Mg92.5Ni3Y4.5 and Mg87.5Ni5Y7.5 alloys.As-cast Mg97.5Ni1Y1.5 alloy with satisfactory mechanical properties and rapid degradation rate was successfully developed,exhibiting a high degradation rate of 6675 mm/a(93℃)in 3 wt.%KCl solution and a favorable ultimate compressive strength of 410 MPa.The degradation rate of Mg97.5Ni1Y1.5 alloy is 2-5 times of the current commercial magnesium alloy fracturing materials. | Jingfeng Wang Shiqing Gao Xiuying Liu Xing Peng Kui Wang Shijie Liu Weiyan Jiang Shengfeng Guo Fusheng Pan | 2020 | Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2020,8,1: | 13 |
| 3 | Assessing environmental factors associated with regional schistosomiasis prevalence in Anhui Province,Peoples’Republic of China using a geographical detector method显示文摘Background:Schistosomiasis is a water-borne disease caused by trematode worms belonging to genus Schistosoma,which is prevalent most of the developing world.Transmission of the disease is usually associated with multiple biological characteristics and social factors but also factors can play a role.Few studies have assessed the exact and interactive influence of each factor promoting schistosomiasis transmission.Methods:We used a series of different detectors(i.e.,specific detector,risk detector,ecological detector and interaction detector)to evaluate separate and interactive effects of the environmental factors on schistosomiasis prevalence.Specifically,(i)specific detector quantifies the impact of a risk factor on an observed spatial disease pattern,which were ranked statistically by a value of Power of Determinate(PD)calculation;(ii)risk detector detects high risk areas of a disease on the condition that the study area is stratified by a potential risk factor;(iii)ecological detector explores whether a risk factor is more significant than another in controlling the spatial pattern of a disease;(iv)interaction detector probes whether two risk factors when taken together weaken or enhance one another,or whether they are independent in developing a disease.Infection data of schistosomiasis based on conventional surveys were obtained at the county level from the health authorities in Anhui Province,China and used in combination with information from Chinese weather stations and internationally available environmental data.Results:The specific detector identified various factors of potential importance as follows:Proximity to Yangtze River(0.322)>Land cover(0.285)>sunshine hours(0.256)>population density(0.109)>altitude(0.090)>the normalized different vegetation index(NDVI)(0.077)>land surface temperature at daytime(LST_(day))(0.007).The risk detector indicated that areas of schistosomiasis high risk were located within a buffer distance of 50 km from Yangtze River.The ecological detector disclosed that the factors investigated have significantly different effects.The interaction detector revealed that interaction between the factors enhanced their main effects in most cases.Conclusion:Proximity to Yangtze River had the strongest effect on schistosomiasis prevalence followed by land cover and sunshine hours,while the remaining factors had only weak influence.Interaction between factors played an even more important role in influencing schistosomiasis prevalence than each factor on its own.High risk regions influenced by strong interactions need to be targeted for disease control intervention. | Yi Hu Congcong Xia Shizhu Li Michael PWard Can Luo Fenghua Gao Qizhi Wang Shiqing Zhang Zhijie Zhang | 2017 | Infectious Diseases of Poverty2017,6,1: | 9 |

| 6 | Understanding the spatial representativeness of air quality monitoring network and its application to PM_(2.5)in the China's Mainland显示文摘Air pollution has seriously endangered human health and the natural ecosystem during the last decades.Air quality monitoring stations(AQMS)have played a critical role in providing valuable data sets for recording regional air pollutants.The spatial representativeness of AQMS is a critical parameter when choosing the location of stations and assessing effects on the population to long-term exposure to air pollution.In this paper,we proposed a methodological framework for assessing the spatial representativeness of the regional air quality monitoring network and applied it to ground-based PM_(2.5)observation in the mainland of China.Weighted multidimensional Euclidean distance between each pixel and the stations was used to determine the representativeness of the existing monitoring network.In addition,the K-means clustering method was adopted to improve the spatial representativeness of the existing AQMS.The results showed that there were obvious differences among the representative area of 1820 stations in the mainland of China.The monitoring stations could well represent the PM_(2.5)spatial distribution of the entire region,and the effectively represented area(i.e.the area where the Euclidean distance between the pixels and the stations was lower than the average value)accounted for 67.32%of the total area and covered 93.12%of the population.Forty additional stations were identified in the Northwest,North China,and Northeast regions,which could improve the spatial representativeness by 14.31%. | Ling Su Chanchan Gao Xiaoli Ren Fengying Zhang Shanshan Cao Shiqing Zhang Tida Chen Mengqing Liu Bingchuan Ni Min Liu | 2022 | Geoscience Frontiers2022,13,3: | 3 |

| 8 | Transactivating-transduction protein-polyethylene glycol modified liposomes traverse the blood-spinal cord and blood-brain barriers显示文摘Naive liposomes can cross the blood-brain barrier and blood-spinal cord barrier in small amounts. Liposomes modified by a transactivating-transduction protein can deliver antibiotics for the treatment of acute bacterial infection-induced brain inflammation. Liposomes conjugated with polyethylene glycol have the capability of long-term circulation. In this study we prepared transactivating-transduction protein-polyethylene glycol-modified liposomes labeled with fluorescein isothiocyanate. Thus, liposomes were characterized by transmembrane, long-term circulation and fluorescence tracing. Uptake, cytotoxicity, and the ability of traversing blood-spinal cord and blood-brain barriers were observed following coculture with human breast adenocarcinoma cells (MCF-7). Results demonstrated that the liposomes had good biocompatibility, and low cytotoxicity when cocultured with human breast adenocarcinoma cells. Liposomes could traverse cell membranes and entered the central nervous system and neurocytes through the blood-spinal cord and blood-brain barriers of rats via the systemic circulation. | 9 | Lift enhancement based on virtual aerodynamic shape using a dual synthetic jet actuator显示文摘The Dual Synthetic Jet Actuator(DSJA) is used to develop a new type of lift enhancement device based on circulation control, and to control the flow over the two-dimensional(2D)NACA0015 airfoil. The lift enhancement device is composed of a DSJA and a rounded trailing edge(Coanda surface). The two outlets of the DSJA eject two jets(Jet 1 and Jet 2). Jet 1 ejects from the upper trailing edge, which increases the circulation of airfoil with the help of the Coanda surface. Jet2 ejects from the lower trailing edge, which acts as a virtual flap. The Reynolds number based on the airfoil chord length and free flow velocity is 250000. The results indicate that the circulation control method based on Dual Synthetic Jet(DSJ) has good performance in lift enhancement, whose control effect is closely related to momentum coefficient and reduced frequency. With the increase of the reduced frequency, the control effect of the lift enhancement is slightly reduced. As the momentum coefficient increases, the control effect becomes better. When the angle of attack is greater than 4°, the increments of lift coefficients under the control of DSJ are larger than those under the control of the steady blowing at a same momentum coefficient.
