Classification of traditional Chinese medicine constitution based on facial features in color images显示文摘Objective:To explore the possible correlation between traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)constitution and facial features in color images and to improve the accuracy of automated constitution classification. Methods:Color images were taken of 5150 individuals of different professions.Automated face detection and key point positioning were performed on the collected images, which were then transformed into a standard size. The relationship between facial features and TCM constitution based on the red, green, blue(RGB)pixel and the local binary pattern(LBP)texture features was explored. Results:The overall accuracy rate and robustness of TCM constitution classification based on RGB features were low.Classification results of the phlegm-dampness,damp-heat,blood stasis, and balance constitutions achieved high accuracy rates.Classification accuracy rate using the LBP texture feature was higher than that of the RGB feature, with the best accuracy observed for the balance constitution. Conclusion:Application of computer image acquisition and processing of facial features may serve as an adjunct to the TCM diagnostic method of inspection. | Jian Zhang Shujuan Hou Ji Wang Lingru Li Pin Li Junwen Han Haiqiang Yao Ranran Sun Ziqing Li Zhen Lei Qi Wang | 2016 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medical Sciences2016,3,3: | 5
Protective effects of MCI-186 on oxidative damage in a cell model of Alzheimer's disease显示文摘Oxidative stress has an important role in the development of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Beta amyloid protein 25-35 (Aβ25-35) can generate oxygen free radicals, and MCI-186 (3-methyl-1-phenyl-2-pyrazolin-5-one, edaravone) can specifically eliminate hydroxyl radicals. The present study introduced Aβ25-35 into PC12 cells to establish a cell model of AD, and investigated the neuroprotective effects of MCI-186 on AD. Results showed that MCI-186 had a positive effect on the prevention and treatment of AD by inhibiting protein oxidative products, advanced glycation end products, lipid oxidative end products and DNA oxidative damage in PC12 cells induced by Aβ25-35. | Ming Yu Shujuan Li Wenhui Leng Han Chen Yingquan Wu Lirong Yan | 2010 | Neural Regeneration Research2010,5,16: | 5
Differences in response of desert plants of different ecotypes to climate warming:a case study in Minqin, Northwest China显示文摘Globally climates are warming. How do desert plants of different ecotypes respond to the climate change? This paper studied the differing responses to climate warming shown by desert plants of different ecotypes through analyzing the phenology and meteorological data of 22 desert plant species growing in Minqin Desert Botanical Garden in Northwest China during the period 1974–2009.The results indicate:(1)The temperature in the study area has risen quickly since 1974,and plants’growing periods became longer. The spring phenology of mesophytes advanced, and the autumn phenology of xerophytes was delayed;(2)The starting dates of spring phenophase of mesophytes and xerophytes differed significantly and both showed an advancing trend;(3)The spring phenology of mesophytes advanced by more days than that of xerophytes, whereas the autumn phenology of mesophytes was delayed by less days than that of the xerophytes;and(4)Mesophytes are more sensitive than xerophytes to rising temperature in spring and falling temperature in autumn. These findings are of value in plant management and regional introduction of different species. | ZhaoFeng CHANG ShuJuan ZHU FuGui HAN ShengNian ZHONG | 2012 | Journal of Arid Land2012,4,2: | 4
Parathyroid hormone increases alveolar bone homoeostasis during orthodontic tooth movement in rats with periodontitis via crosstalk between STAT3 and β-catenin显示文摘Periodontitis patients are at risk of alveolar bone loss during orthodontic treatment. The aim of this study was to investigate whether intermittent parathyroid hormone(1–34)treatment(iPTH)could reduce alveolar bone loss during orthodontic tooth movement(OTM)in individuals with periodontitis and the underlying mechanism.A rat model of OTM in the context of periodontitis was established and alveolar bone loss was observed. The control,iPTH and iPTH+stattic groups received injections of vehicle,PTH and vehicle,or PTH and the signal transducer and activator of transcription 3(STAT3)inhibitor stattic, respectively.iPTH prevented alveolar bone loss by enhancing osteogenesis and suppressing bone resorption in the alveolar bone during OTM in rats with periodontitis. This effect of iPTH was along with STAT3 activation and reduced by a local injection of stattic.iPTH promoted osteoblastic differentiation and might further regulate the Wnt/β-catenin pathway in a STAT3-dependent manner. The findings of this study suggest that iPTH might reduce alveolar bone loss during OTM in rats with periodontitis through STAT3/β-catenin crosstalk. | Cheng Zhang Tiancheng Li Chenchen Zhou Li Huang Yuyu Li Han Wang Peipei Duan Shujuan Zou Li Mei | 2020 | International Journal of Oral Science2020,12,4: | 4
Effect of competition on spatial patterns of oak forests on the Chinese Loess Plateau显示文摘Reforestation or natural forest regeneration is an alternative measure for controlling soil erosion in degraded land on the Chinese Loess Plateau(CLP). However, our understanding of the temporal dynamics and the spatial patterns of forest regeneration remains inadequate. Two oak forests at different development stages were investigated to determine the spatial patterns of competitions(intraspecies and interspecies) during different successional stages. The intraspecies and interspecies spatial relationships among different tree diameters at breast height were analyzed at multiple scales by Kriging interpolation method and univariate and bivariate O-ring statistics. Our analytical results indicated that self-correlation and competition intensity were relatively high between oak and pine trees in the early development stage of oak forests due to their clumped distributions of heavy seeds. Birch trees had a lower competition in comparison to oak trees although birch was the dominant species. Therefore, asymmetric competition of oak trees was most likely to have led to their edge dispersal and their success in replacing the pioneer species. Asymmetric competition means that larger individuals obtained a disproportionately large share of the resources and suppressed the growth of smaller individuals. Kriging interpolation analysis showed a tendency towards homogenization caused by interspecies competition during the succession of oak forests. Our results demonstrated that the competition was the driving factor in the spatial distribution of oak forests on the CLP. | KANG Di DENG Jian QIN Xiaowei HAO Fei GUO Shujuan HAN Xinhui YANG Gaihe | 2017 | Journal of Arid Land2017,9,1: | 3
Enhanced sympathetic activity and cardiac sympathetic afferent reflex in rats with heart failure induced by adriamycin显示文摘Our previous studies have shown that the cardiac sympathetic afferent reflex is enhanced in rats with chronic heart failure(CHF) induced by coronary artery ligation and contributes to the over-excitation of sympathetic activity. We sought to determine whether sympathetic activity and cardiac sympathetic afferent reflex were enhanced in adriamycin-induced CHF and whether angiotensin II(Ang II) in the paraventricular nucleus(PVN) was involved in enhancing sympathetic activity and cardiac sympathetic afferent reflex.Heart failure was induced by intraperitoneal injection of adriamycin for six times during 2 weeks(15 mg/kg).Six weeks after the first injection, the rats underwent anesthesia with urethane and α-chloralose.After vagotomy and baroreceptor denervation, cardiac sympathetic afferent reflex was evaluated by renal sympathetic nerve activity and mean arterial pressure(MAP) response to epicardial application of capsaicin(1.0 nmol). The response of MAP to ganglionic blockade with hexamethonium in conscious rats was performed to evaluate sympathetic activity. The renal sympathetic nerve activity and cardiac sympathetic afferent reflex were enhanced in adriamycin rats and the maximum depressor response of MAP induced by hexamethonium was significantly greater in adriamycin rats than that in control rats.Bilateral PVN microinjection of angiotensin II(Ang II) caused larger responses of the cardiac sympathetic afferent reflex, baseline renal sympathetic nerve activity and MAP in adriamycin rats than control rats. These results indicated that both sympathetic activity and cardiac sympathetic afferent reflex were enhanced and Ang II in the PVN was involved in the enhanced sympathetic activity and cardiac sympathetic afferent reflex in rats with adriamycin-induced heart failure. | Shujuan Zhang Feng Zhang Haijian Sun Yebo Zhou Ying Han | 2012 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2012,26,6: | 3

Mitochondria-localized iridium(Ⅲ) complexes with anthraquinone groups as effective photosensitizers for photodynamic therapy under hypoxia显示文摘Photodynamic therapy(PDT)is a potential way for the tumor treatment. However,it notably suffers the limitation of hypoxia in solid tumors. Thus,it is significant to develop effective photosensitizers which can exhibit excellent therapeutic performance under both normoxia and hypoxia.Herein,we reported four ionic iridium(Ⅲ)complexes(Irl-Ir4)with anthraquinone groups which can regulate their excited state energy levels effectively.Among them, the energy gap of Ir1 was between 1.63 and 2.21 eV,which can match well with that of O2,and the HOMO energy of Ir1 is less than-5.51 eV.Compared with Ir2-Ir4,the luminescent quantum efficiency of Irl was the highest.Particularly,Ir1 can specifically target the mitochondria of the tumor cells.Meanwhile,Ir1 showed high singlet oxygen quantum yields(Ф△)in both solutions and living cells with low cytotoxicity. The results of PDT experiments revealed that Irl,as a photosensitizer, exhibited excellent therapeutic effect not only in normoxia but also in hypoxia condition. We believe that this work is meaningful for developing excellent PDT agents based on cyclometalated Ir(III)complexes via rational ligand modification. | Song Guo Meiping Han Ruizhe Chen Yanling Zhuang Liang Zou Shujuan Liu Wei Huang Qiang Zhao | 2019 | Science China Chemistry2019,62,12: | 1
BICAO-induced ischaemia caused depressive-like behaviours and caspase-8/-9-dependent brain regional neural cell apoptosis in mice显示文摘Introduction Cerebral ischaemia-induced depression is among the most frequent neuropsychiatric consequences and adversely impact the prognosis and recovery of patients.Although several brain regions have been implied in the development of ischaemia-induced depression, the brain region-specific neural cell apoptosis pathways have not been clarified yet. Methods In this study, bilateral internal carotid artery occlusion(BICAO)mouse model was established to induce cerebral ischaemia.Sucrose preference, tail suspension and forced swim tests were conducted on mice at 7,21 and 30 days after BICAO treatment. In addition, brain regional ischaemic neuron loss was investigated by using immunofluorescent staining of neuronal nuclei(NeuN)and caspase-8/-9-dependent cell apoptosis was also examined by western blot analysis.results BICAO-induced cerebral ischaemia resulted in decreased sucrose preference and increased immobility times, which were representative depressive-like behaviours of mice until 30 days after BICAO treatment compared with Sham-operated mice. This outcome was associated with significant neuron loss by using immunofluorescent staining and increased cleavage levels of pro-caspase-3/-8/-9,but not pro-caspase-12,by western blot analysis in hypothalamus, midbrain, prefrontal cortex and hippocampus of mice. Conclusions This study showed that BICAO-induced ischaemia caused depressive-like behaviours and caspase-8/-9-dependent neural cell apoptosis in several brain regions, including hypothalamus and midbrain of mice. | Shuiqiao Liu Song Han Qingqing Dai Shujuan Li Junfa Li | 2018 | Stroke & Vascular Neurology2018,3,1: | 1

HBI1-TCP20 interaction positively regulates the CEPs-mediated systemic nitrate acquisition显示文摘Nitrate is the main source of nitrogen for plants but often distributed heterogeneously in soil.Plants have evolved sophisticated strategies to achieve adequate nitrate by modulating the root system architecture. The nitrate acquisition system is triggered by the short mobile peptides C-TERMINALLY ENCODED PEPTIDES(CEPs)that are synthesized on the nitrate-starved roots, but induce the expression of nitrate transporters on the other nitrate-rich roots through an unclear signal transduction pathway. Here,we demonstrate that the transcription factors HBI1 and TCP20 play important roles in plant growth and development in response to fluctuating nitrate supply. HBI1 physically interacts with TCP20, and this interaction was enhanced by the nitrate starvation. HBI1 and TCP20 directly bind to the promoters of CEPs and cooperatively induce their expression. Mutation in HBIs and/or TCP20 resulted in impaired systemic nitrate acquisition response. Our solid genetic and molecular evidence strongly indicate that the HBI1-TCP20 module positively regulates the CEPs-mediated systemic nitrate acquisition. | Xiaoqian Chu Mingzhe Li Shujuan Zhang Min Fan Chao Han Fengning Xiang Genying Li Yong Wang Cheng‐Bin Xiang Jia‐Gang Wang Ming‐Yi Bai | 2021 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2021,63,5: | 1

Novel electromagnetism-like mechanism method for multiobjective optimization problems显示文摘As a new-style stochastic algorithm, the electromagnetism-like mechanism(EM) method gains more and more attention from many researchers in recent years. A novel model based on EM(NMEM) for multiobjective optimization problems is proposed, which regards the charge of all particles as the constraints in the current population and the measure of the uniformity of non-dominated solutions as the objective function. The charge of the particle is evaluated based on the dominated concept, and its magnitude determines the direction of a force between two particles. Numerical studies are carried out on six complex test functions and the experimental results demonstrate that the proposed NMEM algorithm is a very robust method for solving the multiobjective optimization problems. | Lixia Han Shujuan Jiang Shaojiang Lan | 2015 | Journal of Systems Engineering and Electronics2015,26,1: | 1
Unraveling the Rheology of Nanocellulose Aqueous Suspensions:A Comprehensive Study on Biomass-Derived Nanofibrillated Cellulose显示文摘The rheological properties of nanocellulose aqueous suspensions play a critical role in the development of nanocellulose-based bulk materials.High-crystalline,high-aspect ratio, and slender nanofibrillated cellulose(NFC)were extracted from four biomass resources. The cellulose nanofibrils and nanofibril bundles formed inter-connected networks in the NFC aqueous suspensions. The storage moduli of the suspensions with different concentrations were higher than their corresponding loss moduli. As the concentration increased, the storage and loss modulus of NFC dispersion increased. When the shear rate increased to a certain value, there were differences in the changing trend of the rheological behavior of NFC aqueous suspensions derived from different biomass resources and the suspensions with different solid concentrations.NFC dispersion’s storage and loss modulus increased when the temperature rose to nearly 80℃.We hope this study can deepen the understanding of the rheological properties of NFC colloids derived from different biomass resources. | Mingyue Miao Fei Wang Qing Li Longchen Tao Chenchen Dai Yu Liu Shujuan Han Wenshuai Chen Ping Lu | 2024 | Journal of Renewable Materials2024,12,3: | 0
LITTIP/Lgr6/HnRNPK complex regulates cementogenesis via Wnt signaling显示文摘Orthodontically induced tooth root resorption(OIRR)is a serious complication during orthodontic treatment.Stimulating cementum repair is the fundamental approach for the treatment of OIRR.Parathyroid hormone(PTH)might be a potential therapeutic agent for OIRR,but its effects still lack direct evidence, and the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. This study aims to explore the potential involvement of long noncoding RNAs(lncRNAs)in mediating the anabolic effects of intermittent PTH and contributing to cementum repair,as identifying lncRNA-disease associations can provide valuable insights for disease diagnosis and treatment. Here,we showed that intermittent PTH regulates cell proliferation and mineralization in immortalized murine cementoblast OCCM-30 via the regulation of the Wnt pathway. In vivo, daily administration of PTH is sufficient to accelerate root regeneration by locally inhibiting Wnt/β-catenin signaling.Through RNA microarray analysis, lncRNA LITTIP(LGR6 intergenic transcript under intermittent PTH)is identified as a key regulator of cementogenesis under intermittent PTH.Chromatin isolation by RNA purification(ChIRP)and RNA immunoprecipitation(RIP)assays revealed that LITTIP binds to mRNA of leucine-rich repeatcontaining G-protein coupled receptor 6(LGR6)and heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein K(HnRNPK)protein.Further cotransfection experiments confirmed that LITTIP plays a structural role in the formation of the LITTIP/Lgr6/HnRNPK complex. Moreover,LITTIP is able to promote the expression of LGR6 via the RNA-binding protein HnRNPK.Collectively, our results indicate that the intermittent PTH administration accelerates root regeneration via inhibiting Wnt pathway. The lncRNA LITTIP is identified to negatively regulate cementogenesis, which activates Wnt/β-catenin signaling via high expression of LGR6 promoted by HnRNPK. | Tiancheng Li Han Wang Yukun Jiang Shuo Chen Danyuan Huang Zuping Wu Xing Yin Chenchen Zhou Yuyu Li Shujuan Zou | 2023 | International Journal of Oral Science2023,15,3: | 0

An excellent deep-ultraviolet birefringent material based on[BO2]∞ infinite chains显示文摘Birefringent materials play indispensable roles in modulating the polarization of light and are vital in the laser science and technology.Currently, the design of birefringent materials operating in the deep-ultraviolet region(DUV,λ≤200 nm)is still a great challenge. In this work,we developed a new DUV birefringent crystal LiBO_(2) based on[BO2]∞infinite chains in the Li-B-O system, which simultaneously achieves the shortest UV cutoff edge(164 nm)and the largest birefringence(≥0.168 at 266 nm)among all the reported borate-based DUV birefringent materials.Single crystals of LiBO_(2) with dimensions up to Ø55×34 mm^(3) were grown by the Czochralski method, providing access to large-sized single crystal with low cost. Moreover,it has a high laser damage threshold and stable physicochemical properties. These outstanding characters unambiguously support that LiBO_(2) can be an excellent birefringent material for DUV application. | FANGFANG ZHANG XINGLONG CHEN MIN ZHANG WENQI JIN SHUJUAN HAN ZHIHUA YANG SHILIE PAN | 2022 | Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,9: | 0
Generation of a high-efficiency adenine base editor with TadA8e for developing wheat dinitroaniline-resistant germplasm显示文摘Base editing using CRISPR technologies is an invaluable tool for crop breeding. One of the major base editors, the adenine base editor(ABE), has been successfully used in both model plants and many crops. However, owing to limited editing efficiency, the ABE has been difficult to apply in polyploid crops such as allohexaploid bread wheat that often require simultaneous mutation of multiple alleles for fast breeding. We have designed a wheat high-efficiency ABE(Whie ABE), using the newly developed high-activity adenosine deaminase Tad A8 e. In vivo and in vitro analysis demonstrated the improved applicability of Tad A8 e over the commonly used Tad A7.10. Dinitroaniline is a widely used herbicide with high effectiveness and low toxicity to animals. However, wheat cultivars with tolerance to dinitroaniline are rare, limiting the application of dinitroaniline in wheat planting. Using A-to-G editing with Whie ABE, we found that a Met-to-Thr mutation in wheat tubulin alleles located on chromosomes 1 A, 1 B, 1 D, 4 A, and 4 D increased the resistance of wheat to dinitroaniline, revealing a dosage effect of edited tubulins in resistance. The Whie ABE promises to be a valuable editing tool for accelerating crop improvement and developing herbicide-resistant wheat germplasm. | Huanan Han Ziwen Wu Ling Zheng Jingyi Han Yi Zhang Jihu Li Shujuan Zhang Genying Li Changle Ma Pingping Wang | 2022 | The Crop Journal2022,10,2: | 0
