1Haemoglobin,albumin,lymphocyte and platelet predicts postoperative survival in pancreatic cancer显示文摘BACKGROUND Systemic inflammation and nutrition status play an important role in cancer metastasis.The combined index of hemoglobin,albumin,lymphocyte,and platelet(HALP),consisting of haemoglobin,albumin,lymphocytes,and platelets,is considered as a novel marker to reflect both systemic inflammation and nutrition status.However,no studies have investigated the relationship between HALP and survival of patients with pancreatic cancer following radical resection.AIM To evaluate the prognostic value of preoperative HALP in pancreatic cancer patients.METHODS The preoperative serum levels of hemoglobin,albumin,lymphocyte counts,and platelet counts were routinely detected in 582 pancreatic adenocarcinoma patients who underwent radical resection.The relationship between postoperative survival and the preoperative level of HALP was investigated.RESULTS Low levels of HALP were significantly associated with lymph node metastasis(P=0.002),poor tumor differentiation(P=0.032),high TNM stage(P=0.008),female patients(P=0.005)and tumor location in the head of the pancreas(P<0.001).Low levels of HALP were associated with early recurrence[7.3 mo vs 16.3 mo,P<0.001 for recurrence-free survival(RFS)]and short survival[11.5 mo vs 23.6 mo,P<0.001 for overall survival(OS)]in patients with resected pancreatic adenocarcinoma.A low level of HALP was an independent risk factor for early recurrence and short survival irrespective of sex and tumor location.CONCLUSION Low levels of HALP may be a significant risk factor for RFS and OS in patients with resected pancreatic cancer.Shuai-Shuai Xu Shuo Li Hua-Xiang Xu Hao Li Chun-Tao Wu Wen-Quan Wang He-Li Gao Wang Jiang Wu-Hu Zhang Tian-Jiao Li Quan-Xing Ni Liang Liu Xian-Jun Yu 2020World Journal of Gastroenterology2020,26,8:14
2Recovery of iron from copper slag by deep reduction and magnetic beneficiation显示文摘Aiming at recovering iron from high-iron-content copper slag,this article introduced a combination technology of deep reduction and magnetic benefciation,investigated the iron recovery efciency and optimized the technical conditions.When coke powder with 86wt%fxed carbon was used as a reductant,iron was successfully extracted from the copper slag.Under the optimized condition of the coke powder content of 14wt%,the calcium-to-silicon mass ratio(Ca/Si)of 0.2,the roasting temperature of 1300 C,the roasting time of 3 h,the grinding time of 20 min,and the magnetic feld intensity of 61 kA·m 1,the iron recovery rate of the copper slag can reach 91.82%,and the extracted iron powder has an iron grade of 96.21%.With the characteristics of high iron grade and low impurity content,the extracted iron powder can be used as high-quality raw materials of weathering steel.Ke-qing Li Shuo Ping Hong-yu Wang Wen Ni 2013International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2013,20,11:9

4Analyses of a Glycine max Degradome Library Identify microRNA Targets and MicroRNAs that Trigger Secondary SiRNA Biogenesis显示文摘Plant microRNAs (miRNAs) regulate gene expression mainly by guiding cleavage of target mRNAs. In this study, a degradome library constructed from different soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) tissues was deep-sequenced. 428 potential targets of small interfering RNAs and 25 novel miRNA families were identified. A total of 211 potential miRNA targets, including 174 conserved miRNA targets and 37 soybean-specific miRNA targets, were identified. Among them, 121 targets were first discovered in soybean. The signature distribution of soybean primary miRNAs (pri-miRNAs) showed that most pri-miRNAs had the characteristic pattern of Dicer processing. The biogenesis of TAS3 small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) was conserved in soybean, and nine Auxin Response Factors were identified as TAS3 siRNA targets. Twenty-three miRNA targets produced secondary small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) in soybean. These targets were guided by five miRNAs: gma-miR393, gma-miR1508, gma-miR1510, gma-miR1514, and novel-11. Multiple targets of these secondary siRNAs were detected. These 23 miRNA targets may be the putative novel TAS genes in soybean. 5The Influence of Diabetes, Hypertension, and Hyperlipidemia on the Onset of Age-Related Macular Degeneration in North China: The Kailuan Eye Study显示文摘Objective To analyze the prevalence of dry and wet age-related macular degeneration(AMD)in patients with diabetes,hypertension and hyperlipidemia,and to analyze the risk factors for AMD.Methods A population-based cross-sectional epidemiologic study was conducted involving 14,440 individuals.We assessed the prevalence of dry and wet AMD in diabetic and non-diabetic subjects and analyzed the risk factors for AMD.Results The prevalence of wet AMD in diabetic and non-diabetic patients was 0.3%and 0.5%,respectively,and the prevalence of dry AMD was 17%and 16.4%,respectively.The prevalence of wet AMD in healthy,hypertensive,hyperlipidemic,and hypertensive/hyperlipidemic populations was 0.5%,0.3%,0.2%,and 0.7%,respectively.The prevalence of dry AMD in healthy,hypertensive,hyperlipidemic,and hypertensive/hyperlipidemic populations was 16.6%,16.2%,15.2%,and 17.2%,respectively.Age,sex,body mass index,and use of hypoglycemic drugs or lowering blood pressure drugs were corrected in the risk factor analysis of AMD.Diabetes,diabetes/hypertension,diabetes/hyperlipidemia,and diabetes/hypertension/hyperlipidemia were analyzed.None of the factors analyzed in the current study increased the risk for the onset of AMD.Conclusion There was no significant difference in the prevalence of wet and dry AMD among diabetic and non-diabetic subjects.Similarly,there was no significant difference in the prevalence of wet and dry AMD among subjects with hypertension and hyperlipidemia.Diabetes co-existing with hypertension and hyperlipidemia were not shown to be risk factors for the onset of dry AMD.ZHANG Yong Peng WANG Ya Xing ZHOU Jin Qiong WANG Qian YAN Yan Ni YANG Xuan YANG Jing Yan ZHOU Wen Jia WANG Ping SHEN Chang YANG Ming LUAN Ya Nan WANG Jin Yuan WU Shou Ling CHEN Shuo Hua WANG Hai Wei FANG Li Jian WAN Qian Qian ZHU Jing Yuan NIE Zi Han CHEN Yu Ning XIE Ying JONAS JB WEI Wen Bin 2022Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2022,35,7:2

10Effect of Heat Treatment on Corrosion Behaviour of Amorphous Metal Fibers显示文摘Amorphous metal fiber has high corrosion resistance and excellent mechanical properties,making it a kind of good material for reinforcing concrete matrix.The effect of heat treatment on the corrosion behaviour of Fe73-Cr6C9Si1P11 amorphous metal fibers in 0.5mol/L H2SO4 solution was investigated by electrochemical polarization analysis.Differential scanning calorimetry(DSC)was used to measure the thermal properties.The evolution of the crystallization process after heat treatment was identified by X-ray diffraction(XRD).The results show that theα-Fe,Fe2 P and Fe3 P crystalline phases individually precipitate in the amorphous matrix with increasing annealing temperature.The as prepared amorphous sample shows high corrosion resistance with a lower passivation current density and a wider passive region.The corrosion resistance dramatically decreases after the annealing temperature is higher than 400 ℃.Zhong-wang WU Zhi-chao LU Xiao-jun NI De-ren LI Shuo FENG Yuan-hong QI 2014Journal of Iron and Steel Research(International)2014,21,11:1

14A hybrid ambipolar synaptic transistor emulating multiplexed neurotransmission for motivation control and experience-dependent learning显示文摘Artificial synapses with full synapse-like functionalities are of crucial importance for the implementation of neuromorphic computing and bioinspired intelligent systems. In particular, the development of artificial synapses with the capability to emulate multiplexed neural transmission is highly desirable, but remains challenging. In this work, we proposed a hybrid ambipolar synaptic transistor that combines two-dimensional(2D) molybdenum disulfide(Mo S_(2)) sheet and crystalline one-dimensional(1D) poly(3-hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl) polymer nanowires(P3HT NWs) as dual excitatory channels. Essential synaptic functions, including excitatory postsynaptic current, paired-pulse facilitation, synaptic potentiation and depression, and dynamic filtering were emulated using the synaptic transistor. Benefitting from the dual excitatory channels of the synaptic transistor, the device achieved a fast switch between short-term and long-term memory by altering the charge carriers in the dual channels, i.e., electrons and holes. This emulated the multiplexed neural transmission of different excitatory neurotransmitters, e.g., dopamine and noradrenaline. 15Extensively infarcted giant solitary hamartomatous polyp treated with endoscopic full-thickness resection:A case report显示文摘BACKGROUND Solitary hamartomatous polyps(SHPs)are rare lesions.Endoscopic full-thickness resection(EFTR)is a highly efficient and minimally invasive endoscopic procedure that benefits from complete lesion removal and high safety.CASE SUMMARY A 47-year-old man was admitted to our hospital after experiencing hypogastric pain and constipation for over fifteen days.Computed tomography and endoscopy revealed a giant pedunculated polyp(approximately 18 cm long)in the descending and sigmoid colon.This is the largest SHP reported to date.Having considered the condition of the patient and mass growth,the polyp was removed using EFTR.CONCLUSION On the basis of clinical and pathological evaluations,the mass was considered an SHP.Lu Ye Ji-Hong Zhong Yong-Pan Liu Dan-Dan Chen Si-Yi Ni Fa-Quan Peng Shuo Zhang 2023World Journal of Clinical Cases2023,11,8:0
16An Evaluation Method of Human Gut Microbial Homeostasis by Testing Specific Fecal Microbiota显示文摘Research on microecology has been carried out with broad perspectives in recent decades,which has enabled a better understanding of the gut microbiota and its roles in human health and disease.It is of great significance to routinely acquire the status of the human gut microbiota;however,there is no method to evaluate the gut microbiome through small amounts of fecal microbes.In this study,we found ten predominant groups of gut bacteria that characterized the whole microbiome in the human gut from a large-sample Chinese cohort,constructed a real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction(qPCR)method and developed a set of analytical approaches to detect these ten groups of predominant gut bacterial species with great maneuverability,efficiency,and quantitative features.Reference ranges for the ten predominant gut bacterial groups were established,and we found that the concentration and pairwise ratios of the ten predominant gut bacterial groups varied with age,indicating gut microbial dysbiosis.By comparing the detection results of liver cirrhosis(LC)patients with those of healthy control subjects,differences were then analyzed,and a classification model for the two groups was built by machine learning.Among the six established classification models,the model established by using the random forest algorithm achieved the highest area under the curve(AUC)value and sensitivity for predicting LC.This research enables easy,rapid,stable,and reliable testing and evaluation of the balance of the gut microbiota in the human body,which may contribute to clinical work.Zhongwen Wu Xiaxia Pan Yin Yuan Pengcheng Lou Lorina Gordejeva Shuo Ni Xiaofei Zhu Bowen Liu Lingyun Wu Lanjuan Li Bo Li 2023Engineering2023,,10:0
