| 3 | An efficient bifunctional electrocatalyst derived from layer-by-layer self-assembly of a three-dimensional porous Co-N-C@graphene显示文摘Three-dimensional (3D) porous carbon-based materials with tunable composition and microstructure are of great interest for the development of oxygen involved electrocatalytic reactions. Here, we report the synthesis of 3D porous carbon-based electrocatalyst by self-assembling Co-metal organic frameworks (MOF) building blocks on graphene via a layer-by-layer technique. Precise control of the structure and morphology is achieved by varying the MOF layer to tune the electrocatalytic properties. The as-produced electrocatalyst exhibits an excellent catalytic activity for the oxygen reduction reaction in 0.1molL^-1 KOH, showing a high onset potential of 0.963V vs. reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE) and a low tafel slope of 54mVdec^-1, compared to Pt/C (0.934V and 52mVdec^-1, respectively). Additionally, it shows a slightly lower potential vs. RHE (1.72V) than RuO2 (1.75V) at 10mAcm^-2 in an alkaline electrolyte. A rechargeable Zn-air battery based on the as-produced 3D porous catalyst demonstrates a high peak power density of 119mWcm^-2 at a cell voltage of 0.578V while retaining an excellent stability over 250 charge-discharge cycles. | Shichang Cai Rui Wang William M. | 7 | OsPKpa_1 encodes a plastidic pyruvate kinase that affects starch biosynthesis in the rice endosperm显示文摘Pyruvate kinase(PK) is a key enzyme in glycolysis and carbon metabolism. Here, we isolated a rice(Oryza sativa) mutant, w59, with a white-core floury endosperm. Map-based cloning of w59 identified a mutation in OsPKpa_1, which encodes a plastidic isoform of PK(PKp). OsPKpa_1 localizes to the amyloplast stroma in the developing endosperm, and the mutation of OsPKpa_1 in w59 decreases the plastidic PK activity, resulting in dramatic changes to the lipid biosynthesis in seeds. The w59 grains were also characterized by a marked decrease in starch content. Consistent with a decrease in number and size of the w59 amyloplasts, large empty spaces were observed in the central region of the w59 endosperm, atthe early grain-filling stage. Moreover, a phylogenetic analysis revealed four potential rice isoforms of OsPKp. We validated the in vitro PK activity of these OsPKps through reconstituting active PKp complexes derived from inactive individual OsPKps, revealing the heteromeric structure of rice PKps, which was further confirmed using a protein–protein interaction analysis. | 9 | Depletion of the IKBKAP ortholog in zebrafish leads to hirschsprung disease-like phenotype显示文摘AIM:To investigate the role of IKBKAP(inhibitor of kappa light polypeptide gene enhancer in B-cells,kinase complexassociated protein)in the development of enteric nervous system(ENS)and Hirschsprung disease(HSCR).METHODS:In this study,we injected a morpholino that blocked the translation of ikbkap protein to 1-cell stage zebrafish embryos.The phenotype in the ENS was analysed by antibody staining of the pan-neuronal marker Hu C/D followed by enteric neuron counting.The mean numbers of enteric neurons were compared between the morphant and the control.We also studied the expressions of ret and phox2bb,which are involved in ENS development,in the ikbkap morpholino injected embryos by quantitative reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction and compared them with the control.RESULTS:We observed aganglionosis(χ2,P<0.01)and a reduced number of enteric neurons(38.8±9.9 vs50.2±17.3,P<0.05)in the zebrafish embryos injected with ikbkap translation-blocking morpholino(morphant)when compared with the control embryos.Specificity of the morpholino was confirmed by similar results obtained using a second non-overlapping morpholino that blocked the translation of ikbkap.We further studied the morphant by analysing the expression levels of genes involved in ENS development such as ret,phox2bb and sox10,and found that phox2bb,the ortholog of human PHOX2B,was significantly down-regulated(0.51±0.15 vs 1.00±0,P<0.05).Although we also observed a reduction in theexpression of ret,the difference was not significant.CONCLUSION:Loss of IKBKAP contributed to HSCR as demonstrated by functional analysis in zebrafish embryos. | William Wai-Chun Cheng Clara Sze-Man Tang Hong-Sheng Gui Man-Ting So Vincent Chi-Hang Lui Paul Kwong-Hang Tam Maria-Mercè Garcia-Barcelo | 2015 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2015，21，7： | 2 |

| 11 | Fluctuation of visual analog scale pain scores and opioid consumption before and after total hip arthroplasty显示文摘BACKGROUND Patients who undergo orthopedic procedures are often given excess opioid medication.Understanding the relationship between pain and opioid consumption following total hip arthroplasty(THA)is key to creating safe and effective opioid prescribing guidelines.AIM To evaluate the association between the quantity of opioid consumption in relation to pain scores both pre-and postoperatively in patients undergoing primary THA.METHODS We retrospectively reviewed patients who underwent primary THA from November 2018-May 2019 and answered both the visual analog scale(VAS)pain and opioid medication questionnaires pre-and postoperatively.Both surveys were delivered daily for 7-days before surgery through the first 30 postoperative days.Survey results were divided into preoperative,postoperative days 1-7,postoperative days 8-14,and postoperative days 15-30 for analysis.Mean opioid pill consumption and VAS pain scores in each time period were determined and compared to patients’preoperative status using hierarchical Poisson and linear regressions,respectively.RESULTS There were 105 patients included.Mean VAS pain scores were the highest preoperatively 7.41±1.72.However,VAS pain scores significantly declined in each successive postoperative category compared to preoperative scores:postoperative day 1-7(5.07±1.79;P<0.001),postoperative day 8-14(3.60±1.64;P<0.001),and postoperative day 15-30(3.15±1.63;P<0.001).Mean opioid pill consumption preoperatively was 0.68±1.29 pills.Compared to preoperative opioid consumption,opioid use was significantly greater between postoperative days 1-7(1.51±1.58;P=0.001)and postoperative days 8-14(1.00±1.27;P=0.043).Opioid consumption declined below preoperative levels between postoperative days 15-30(0.35±0.72;P=0.160)which correlates with a VAS pain score of 3.15.CONCLUSION All patients experienced significant benefit and pain relief from having undergone THA.Average postoperative opioid consumption decreased below preoperative consumption between postoperative days 15-30,which was associated with a VAS pain score of 3.15.These results can be used to appropriately guide opioid prescribing practices and set patient expectations regarding pain management following THA. | Vivek Singh Alex Tang Thomas Bieganowski Utkarsh Anil William Macaulay Ran Schwarzkopf Roy I Davidovitch | 2022 | World Journal of Orthopedics2022，13，8： | 2 |

| 19 | Scalar transport by propagation of an internal solitary wave over a slope-shelf显示文摘Internal solitary waves(ISWs)of depression are commonly found in the coastal environment and are believed to re-suspend sediments in coastal regions where the waves break.In this research,the direct numerical simulation is used to study the scalar transport induced by the ISWs of depression propagating over a slope-shelf topography.The scalar in this paper is considered to represent the concentrations of very fine suspended solids or pollutants.Vortices are observed from the numerical results at the bottom boundary layer on the slope during the ISW shoaling process,resulting in a scalar transport.All in cident ISWs of depression are observed to produce a waveform inversion on the shelf.The scalar transport from a slope to a shelf is the consequence of the combined vortices at the bottom boundary layer and the overturning of the ISWs of depression,and the latter was commonly ignored in previous studies.This study shows that the ISW-induced scalar transport consists of the following four stages:the slip transport,the wash transport,the vortex transport,and the secondary transport.A dimensionless time scales of the four stages are calculated,and the beginning times of the wash transport and the secondary transport are found to be uncorrelated with the slope gradients,taking values of 1.26,4,respectively. | Jin Xu Ling-ling Wang Hong-wu Tang Zhu Hai John James Reginald Williams | 2019 | Journal of Hydrodynamics2019，31，2： | 1 |
