| 1 | Management of post-hepatectomy complications显示文摘Hepatic resection had an impressive growth over time.It has been widely performed for the treatment of various liver diseases,such as malignant tumors,benign tumors,calculi in the intrahepatic ducts,hydatid disease,and abscesses.Management of hepatic resection is challenging.Despite technical advances and high experience of liver resection of specialized centers,it is still burdened by relatively high rates of postoperative morbidity and mortality.Especially,complex resections are being increasingly performed in high risk and older patient population.Operation on the liver is especially challenging because of its unique anatomic architecture and because of its vital functions.Common posthepatectomy complications include venous catheterrelated infection,pleural effusion,incisional infection,pulmonary atelectasis or infection,ascites,subphrenic infection,urinary tract infection,intraperitoneal hemorrhage,gastrointestinal tract bleeding,biliary tract hemorrhage,coagulation disorders,bile leakage,and liver failure.These problems are closely related to sur-gical manipulations,anesthesia,preoperative evaluation and preparation,and postoperative observation and management.The safety profile of hepatectomy probably can be improved if the surgeons and medical staff involved have comprehensive knowledge of the expected complications and expertise in their management.This review article focuses on the major postoperative issues after hepatic resection and presents the current management. | Shan Jin Quan Fu Gerile Wuyun Tu Wuyun | 2013 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2013,19,44: | 24 |
| 2 | Patterns of change in the population and spatial distribution of oriental white storks (Ciconia boyciana) wintering in Poyang Lake显示文摘Using total counts in simultaneous annual surveys,we monitored the population size and spatial distribution of oriental white storks(Ciconia boyciana) wintering in Poyang Lake between 1998 and 2011.Results showed that Poyang Lake wetland is an important wintering ground for oriental white storks,with an annual average population number of 2 305±326.The population sizes in 2004,2005,2010,and 2011 were higher than the highest-ever estimate of its global population.In 2005,we recorded 3 789 individuals,which was the maximum population number within the period of 1998–2011.The storks inhabited 52 lakes,with the greatest distance between these lakes being 180.3 km.The storks presented a clustered distribution pattern in the Poyang Lake wetland,irrespective of the number of individuals or occurrence frequencies.Shahu,Dahuchi,Banghu,and Hanchihu were most frequently used lakes and had the largest annual average numbers of storks.There was a significant positive correlation between occurrence frequency and annual average number of storks in the lakes.Most of the lakes important for storks were covered by existing nature reserves,though some lakes outside the reserves were also frequently used.About 64.9%± 5.5% of the storks were found in nature reserves.In addition,the storks more frequently used and clumped in significantly larger flocks in lakes within nature reserves than lakes outside. | Zhen-Hua WEI Yan-Kuo LI Peng XU Fa-Wen QIAN Ji-Hong SHAN Xiao-Bin TU | 2016 | Zoological Research2016,37,6: | 6 |

| 4 | Fermented mixed feed alters growth performance,carcass traits,meat quality and muscle fatty acid and amino acid profiles in finishing pigs显示文摘This study was conducted to investigate the effects of fermented mixed feed(FMF)on growth performance,carcass traits,meat quality,muscle amino acid and fatty acid composition and mRNA expression levels of genes related to lipid metabolism in finishing pigs.In the present study,144 finishing pigs(Duroc×Berkshire×Jiaxing Black)were randomly allocated to 3 dietary treatments with 4 replicate pens per group and 12 pigs per pen.The dietary treatments included a basal diet(CON),a basal diet+5%FMF and a basal diet+10%FMF.The experiment lasted 38 d after 4 d of acclimation.The results showed that 5%and 10%FMF significantly increased the average daily gain(ADG)of the females but not the males(P<0.05),but FMF supplementation showed no impact on carcass traits.Moreover,10%FMF supplementation increased the meat color45 min and meat color24 h values,while it decreased the shear force relative to CON(P<0.05).In addition,10%FMF significantly increased the contents of flavor amino acids(FAA),total essential AA(EAA),total non-EAA(NEAA)and total AA relative to CON(P<0.05).Furthermore,the diet supplemented with 10%FMF significantly increased the concentration of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids(PUFA),n-6 PUFA and total PUFA,and the PUFA to saturated fatty acids ratio(P<0.05),suggesting that FMF supplementation increased meat quality.Moreover,compared with the CON,10%FMF supplementation increased the mRNA expression of lipogenic genes,including CEBPα,PPARγ,SREBP1 and FABP4,and upregulated the expression of unsaturated fatty acid synthesis(ACAA1 and FADS2).Together,our results suggest that 10%FMF dietary supplementation improved the female pigs’growth performance,improved the meat quality and altered the profiles of muscle fatty acids and amino acids in finishing pigs.This study provides a reference for the production of high-quality pork. | Shiqi Liu Man Du Yuang Tu Wenjing You Wentao Chen Guoliang Liu Junyue Li Yizhen Wang Zeqing Lu Tenghao Wang Tizhong Shan | 2023 | Animal Nutrition2023,,1: | 4 |
| 5 | Human endogenous retrovirus W env increases nitric oxide production and enhances the migration ability of microglia by regulating the expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase显示文摘Human endogenous retrovirus W env(HERV-W env) plays a critical role in many neuropsychological diseases such as schizophrenia and multiple sclerosis(MS). These diseases are accompanied by immunological reactions in the central nervous system(CNS). Microglia are important immunocytes in brain inflammation that can produce a gasotransmitter – nitric oxide(NO). NO not only plays a role in the function of neuronal cells but also participates in the pathogenesis of various neuropsychological diseases. In this study, we reported increased NO production in CHME-5 microglia cells after they were transfected with HERV-W env. Moreover, HERV-W env increased the expression and function of human inducible nitric oxide synthase(hi NOS) and enhanced the promoter activity of hi NOS. Microglial migration was also enhanced. These data revealed that HERV-W env might contribute to increase NO production and microglial migration ability in neuropsychological disorders by regulating the expression of inducible NOS. | 7 | Human leukemia antigen-A0201-restricted epitopes of humanendogenous retrovirus W family envelope(HERV-W env)inducestrong cytotoxic T lymphocyte responses显示文摘Human endogenous retrovirus W family(HERV-W) envelope(env) has been reported to be related to several human diseases, including autoimmune disorders, and it could activate innate immunity.However, there are no reports investigating whether human leukemia antigen(HLA)-A~*0201^+restriction is involved in the immune response caused by HERV-W env in neuropsychiatric diseases. In the present study, HERV-W env-derived epitopes presented by HLA-A~*0201 are described with the potential for use in adoptive immunotherapy. Five peptides displaying HLAA~*0201-binding motifs were predicted using SYFEPITHI and BIMAS, and synthesized. A CCK-8 assay showed peptides W, Q and T promoted lymphocyte proliferation. Stimulation of peripheral blood mononuclear cells from HLA-A~*0201^+ donors with each of these peptides induced peptidespecific CD8^+ T cells. High numbers of IFN-γ-secreting T cells were also detectable after several weekly stimulations with W, Q and T. Besides lysis of HERV-W env-loaded target cells, specific apoptosis was also observed. These data demonstrate that human T cells can be sensitized toward HERV-W env peptides(W, Q and T) and, moreover, pose a high killing potential toward HERV-W env-expressing U251 cells. In conclusion, peptides W Q and T, which are HERV-W env antigenic epitopes, have both antigenicity and immunogenicity, and can cause strong T cell immune responses. Our data strengthen the view that HERV-W env should be considered as an autoantigen that can induce autoimmunity in neuropsychiatric diseases, such as multiple sclerosis and schizophrenia. | 8 | Reducing nitrogen application with dense planting increases nitrogen use efficiency by maintaining root growth in a double-rice cropping system显示文摘Rational nitrogen(N) application can greatly increase rice(Oryza sativa L.) yield. However, excessive N input can lead not only to low N use efficiency(NUE) but also to severe environmental pollution.Reducing N application rate with a higher planting density(RNHD) is recommended to maintain rice yield and improve NUE. The effects of RNHD on fertilizer N fate and rice root growth traits remain unclear. We accordingly conducted a two-year field experiment to investigate the influence of RNHD on rice yield, fertilizer 15N fate, and root growth in a double-rice cropping system in China. In comparison with the conventional practice of high N application with sparse planting, RNHD resulted in similar yield and biomass production as well as plant N uptake. RNHD increased agronomic NUEs by 23.3%–31.9%(P < 0.05) and N recovery efficiency by 17.4%–24.1%(P < 0.05). RNHD increased fertilizer 15N recovery rate by 14.5%–34.7%(P < 0.05), but reduced15 N retention rate by 9.2%–12.0%(P < 0.05). Although a reduced N rate led to significantly reduced root length, surface area, volume, and biomass, these root traits were significantly increased by higher planting density. RNHD did not affect these root morphological traits and reduced activities of nitrate reductase(NR) and glutamine synthetase(GS) only at tillering stage. Plant N uptake was significantly positively correlated with these root traits, but not correlated with NR and GS activities. | 14 | Kinetic Characteristics of Neutralizing Antibody Responses Vary among Patients with COVID-19显示文摘Objective The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) pandemic continues to present a major challenge to public health. Vaccine development requires an understanding of the kinetics of neutralizing antibody(NAb) responses to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2).Methods In total, 605 serum samples from 125 COVID-19 patients(from January 1 to March 14, 2020)varying in age, sex, severity of symptoms, and presence of underlying diseases were collected, and antibody titers were measured using a micro-neutralization assay with wild-type SARS-CoV-2.Results NAbs were detectable approximately 10 days post-onset(dpo) of symptoms and peaked at approximately 20 dpo. The NAb levels were slightly higher in young males and severe cases, while no significant difference was observed for the other classifications. In follow-up cases, the NAb titer had increased or stabilized in 18 cases, whereas it had decreased in 26 cases, and in one case NAbs were undetectable at the end of our observation. Although a decreasing trend in NAb titer was observed in many cases, the NAb level was generally still protective.Conclusion We demonstrated that NAb levels vary among all categories of COVID-19 patients.
