1Alpha-2-macroglobulin as a radioprotective agent: a review显示文摘Radiation is an important modality in cancer treatment, and eighty percent of cancer patients need radiotherapy at some point during their clinical management. However, radiation-induced damage to normal tissues restricts the therapeutic doses of radiation that can be delivered to tumours and thereby limits the effectiveness of the treatment. The use of radioprotectors represents an obvious strategy to obtain better tumour control using a higher dose in radiotherapy. However, most of the synthetic radioprotective compounds studied have shown inadequate clinical efficacy owing to their inherent toxicity and high cost. Hence, the development of radioprotective agents with lower toxicity and an extended window of protection has attracted a great deal of attention, and the identification of alternative agents that are less toxic and highly effective is an absolute necessity. Recent studies have shown that alpha-2-macroglobulin(α2M) possesses radioprotective effects. α2M is a tetrameric, disulfide-rich plasma glycoprotein that functions as a nonselective inhibitor of different types of non-specific proteases and as a carrier of cytokines, growth factors, and hormones. α2M induces protein factors whose interplay underlies radioprotection, which supports the idea that α2M is the central effector of natural radioprotection in the rat. Pretreatment with α2M has also induced a significant reduction of irradiation-induced DNA damage and the complete restoration of liver and body weight. Mihailovi? et al. concluded that the radioprotection provided by α2M was in part mediated through cytoprotection of new blood cells produced in the bone marrow; these authors also indicated that an important aspect of the radioprotective effect of amifostine was the result of the induction of the endogenous cytoprotective capability of α2M. The radioprotective effects of α2M are possibly due to antioxidant, antifibrosis, and anti-inflammatory functions, as well as the maintenance of homeostasis, and enhancement of the DNA repair and cell recovery processes. This review is the first to summarise the observations and elucidate the possible mechanisms responsible for the beneficial effects of α2M. 2Curative effect of assisted reproduction technology by Traditional Chinese Medicine multi-channel interventional therapy on 95 cases of in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer failure显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the curative effect of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) multi-channel interventional therapy on women with Assisted Reproductive Technology(ART) failure, to compare the curative effect of the dual therapy and triple therapy on women with ART Failure, and to choose the best TCM interventional therapeutic plan.METHODS: The 95 cases with ART Failure from West China second University Hospital of Sichuan University meeting the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into three groups:dual therapy group(31 cases), triple therapy group(33 cases)and control group(31 cases). According to the intervene treatment of in vitro Fertilization and Embryo Transfer(IVF-ET) long cycle scheme, the control group wait naturally for 3 months before IVFET. The dual therapy group take TCM prescriptionⅡ of cultivating emotion and assisting reproduction and auricular acupoint therapy for 3 months before IVF-ET, then Western Medicine treatment progestin supporting as well as auricular application and Antai Recipe after IVF-ET transplantation.The triple therapy group take TCM prescription Ⅱof cultivated emotion and assisted reproduction,auricular acupoint therapy and retention enema of TCM, and combination treatment the same as dual therapy group after transplantation. The natural pregnancy number, the period condition of secondary IVF-ET and the improvement of the kidney deficiency, liver depression and blood stasis syndrome among those three groups were compared.RESULTS: It was showed from analysis in 95 cases with ART failure that the number of natural preg-nancy was as followings: 3 patients from the dual therapy group, 10 patients from the triple therapy group, and no patient from the control group. The comparison among three groups have statistical significance(P < 0.05). The treatment group is superior to the control group, while the triple therapy is superior to the dual therapy. The comparison of the condition of the fertility rate, clinical pregnancy rate, biochemical pregnancy rate and early abortion rate during the period of secondary IVF-ET between pre-therapy and post-treatment of both the dual therapy group and the triple therapy group have statistical significance(P < 0.05). The comparison of the improvement of the kidney deficiency,liver depression and blood stasis syndrome between pre-therapy and post-treatment of both the dual therapy group and the triple therapy group have statistical significance(P < 0.05). 3Molecular Mechanism of Induction on Apoptosis of Human Esophageal Cancer HCE-4 Cells by Active Components from Astragalus membranaceus显示文摘[Objectives] To investigate the pharmacologic effects of active components from A. membranaceus on human esophageal cancer HCE-4 cells and its apoptosis mechanism. [Methods] The viabilities of HCE-4 cells were measured by MTT assay. The induction of active components from A. membranaceus on apoptosis of HCE-4 cells was detected by Annexin V-FITC/PI double staining. The apoptotic-related protein expression levels were determined by Western blotting. [Results] Formononetin and astragaloside IV suppressed the proliferation of HCE-4 cells in a dose-dependent manner. The Annexin V-FITC/PI double staining results showed that formononetin and astragaloside IV could induce HCE-4 cells apoptosis in a time-dependent manner. The Western blotting results showed that formononetin and astragaloside IV could significantly down-regulate p-AKT,pro-caspase-3,and increase cle-caspase-3 protein expression in HCE-4 cells. 6Bearing Failure Optimization of Composite Double-Lap Bolted Joints Based on a Three-Step Strategy Marked By Feasible Region Reduction and Model Decoupling显示文摘To minimize the mass and increase the bearing failure load of composite double-lap bolted joints,a three-step optimization strategy including feasible region reduction,optimization model decoupling and optimization was presented.In feasible region reduction,the dimensions of the feasible design region were reduced by selecting dominant design variables from numerous multilevel parameters by sensitivity analyses,and the feasible regions of variables were reduced by influence mechanism analyses.In model decoupling,the optimization model with a large number of variables was divided into various sub-models with fewer variables by variance analysis.In the third step,the optimization sub-models were solved one by one using a genetic algorithm,and the modified characteristic curve method was adopted as the failure prediction method.Based on the proposed optimization method,optimization of a double-lap single-bolt joint was performed using the ANSYS®code.The results show that the bearing failure load increased by 13.5%and that the mass decreased by 8.7%compared with those of the initial design of the joint,which validated the effectiveness of the three-step optimization strategy.Fengrui Liu Wanting Yao Xinhong Shi Libin Zhao Jianyu Zhang 2020Computers, Materials & Continua2020,,2:1
7Enhanced thermoelectric performance and atomic-resolution interfacial structures in BiSbTe thermo-electro-magnetic nanocomposites incorporating magnetocaloric LaFeSi nanoparticles显示文摘Incorporating magnetic nanoparticles in thermoelectric(TE)materials introduce magnetic interfaces with additional electron and phonon scattering mechanism for high TE performance.However,the influence of heterogeneous interfaces between magnetic nanoparticles and TE matrix on electronic and thermal transport remains elusive in the thermo-electric-magnetic nanocomposites.Here,using p-type TE material Bi_(0.3)Sb_(1.7)Te_(3)(BST)as matrix and magnetocaloric(MC)material La(Fe_(0.92)Co_(0.08))_(11.9)Si_(1.1)(LFS)nanoparticles as a second phase,TE/MC nanocomposites xLFS/BST(x=0.1%,0.2%,0.3% and 0.4%)were synthesized using spark plasma sintering method.The atomic-resolution interfacial structures demonstrate that Te vacancies originating from LFS-BST interfacial reaction decreases the hole concentration of the LFS/BST nanocomposites and enhances the Seebeck coefficient.The LFS/BST nanocomposites exhibit lower thermal conductivity due to enhanced phonon scattering by interfaces and defects.All the nanocomposites have higher ZT than BST matrix,with 0.2% LFS/BST nanocomposite achieving highest ZT=1.11 at 380 K.At working current 1.4 A,the device fabricated using 0.2% LFS/BST nanocomposite achieves maximal cooling temperature 4.9 K,which is 58% higher than the matrix.Moreover,the MC properties are retained in all the nanocomposites,which make them a promising candidate to achieve high TE performance and dual TE/MC properties for future applications.Lin Xing Wenjun Cui Xiahan Sang Fengxia Hu Ping Wei Wanting Zhu Xiaolei Nie Qingjie Zhang Wenyu Zhao 2021Journal of Materiomics2021,7,5:1
8Drainage evolution in intermontane basins at the Qinling-Daba Mountains显示文摘River capture is of great significance to landform evolution and hominine migration.In the Qinling-Daba Mountains,there is a viewpoint that Jialing River captured Hanjiang River,but this is still controversial.In this paper,we discuss the drainage evolution processes in intermountain basins at the Qinling-Daba Mountains based on a combination of detrital zircon UPb geochronology and geomorphic indexes.We suggest that the Hanjiang River gradually captured the Jialing River from east to west,accompanied by the evolution of the ancient Yangtze River.In terms of geomorphic evidences,wide valleys did not match with discharge,and a series of wind gaps developed in the Shiquan-Ankang basin.In addition,the valley shapes and width-toheight ratios(Vf)indicate two possible rapid incisions.The hypsometric integrals(HI)reflect that the landform gradually changes from the old stage to the youth stage from west to east.Theχvalues show that the drainage divide is moving to the side of the Yuehe River,and the Yuehe River is gradually shrinking.According to the sedimentary records,the zircon U-Pb age distributions indicate the provenance change.The high-altitude terraces show three age peaks(200–250,400–505,and 700–900 Ma),with the dominant Indosinian age peak(200–250 Ma),while the modern fluvial sediments only show a single peak of Jinning(700–900 Ma).These data show that there are two major river captures:(1)The ancient Hanjiang River cut through the regional compression ridge,and then captured the Hanzhong Basin river system(a part of the ancient Jialing river system)from east to west,and(2)The southern tributary captured the trunk with the uplift of the divide in the Shiquan-Ankang Basin,forming the modern drainage pattern in the upper Hanjiang River.The activities of the regional strike-slip fault,and the associated compression uplift played a key role in the river captures,the drainage evolution,and related landforms in the Shiquan-Ankang basin.In addition,it is shown that the evolution of the upper tributary basins lagged behind the response of the trunk channel to the tectonic activities and river captures.The interconnected wide valleys caused by river capture may have provided convenient geomorphological conditions for human migration into the Qinling-Daba Mountains along those river valleys.Wanting XIE Xianyan WANG Hanzhi ZHANG Quanyu LIU Shejiang WANG Huayu LU 2021Science China Earth Sciences2021,64,11:1
9Poly(ether ether ketone ketone) based imidazolium as anion exchange membranes for alkaline fuel cells显示文摘An imidazolium functionalized poly(ether ether ketone ketone)(PEEKK-DIm OH)anion exchange membrane(AEM)readily soluble in certain low-boiling-point solvents(isopropanol)is prepared.The solubility results are consistent with the results of molecular dynamics simulations.By varying the chloromethylation reaction temperature or concentrated sulfuric acid concentration of PEEKK,the degrees of chloromethylation of PEEKK are changed from 54% to 92%,the corresponding PEEKK-DIm OH AEMs with the ion exchange capacities(IECs)of 1.14–1.65 mmol·g^(-1).The PEEKK-DIm OH 92% AEM shows high hydroxide conductivity(31 m S·cm^(-1)),suitable water uptake(94%)and acceptable swelling ratio(39%)at 60°C.In addition,the PEEKK-DIm OH AEMs possess good thermal and alkaline stability.The maximum power density(46.16 mW·cm^(-2))of fuel cell prepared with PEEKK-DIm OH 92%AEM as exchange membrane and ionomer is much higher than that with commercial AHA membranes.All the above results indicate that the PEEKK used in this study is a promising AEM matrix material for alkaline fuel cells.Tiantian Li Xuemei Wu Wanting Chen Xiaoming Yan Dongxing Zhen Xue Gong Jiafei Liu Shaofeng Zhang Gaohong He 2018Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2018,26,10:1

14Advances in Research on Anti-cancer Mechanism of 18β Glycyrrhetinic Acid显示文摘Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch has been used to treat the symptoms of organ fever, food poisoning, typhoid fever, sore throat, cough due to lung heat, children's diseases and so on since the ancient times. It is a solid Chinese herbal medicine which is good for the health. In recent years, it has been found that licorice extract also has excellent anti-cancer effect. The 18β glycyrrhetinic acid, obtained by hydrolysis of precursor glycyrrhizic acid, is a relatively efficient anti-cancer ingredient. 18β glycyrrhetinic acid can exert anti-cancer effects by inhibiting cancer cell proliferation, inducing apoptosis of cancer cells, inhibiting invasion and metastasis of cancer cells, preventing oxidation, inhibiting neovascularization, inhibiting lymphangiogenesis, and regulating hormone secretion. 16Lipid carriers for mRNA delivery显示文摘Messenger RNA(mRNA)is the template for protein biosynthesis and is emerging as an essential active molecule to combat various diseases,including viral infection and cancer.Especially,mRNA-based vaccines,as a new type of vaccine,have played a leading role in fighting against the current global pandemic of COVID-19.However,the inherent drawbacks,including large size,negative charge,and instability,hinder its use as a therapeutic agent.Lipid carriers are distinguishable and promising vehicles for mRNA delivery,owning the capacity to encapsulate and deliver negatively charged drugs to the targeted tissues and release cargoes at the desired time.Here,we first summarized the structure and properties of different lipid carriers,such as liposomes,liposome-like nanoparticles,solid lipid nanoparticles,lipid-polymer hybrid nanoparticles,nanoemulsions,exosomes and lipoprotein particles,and their applications in delivering mRNA.Then,the development of lipid-based formulations as vaccine delivery systems was discussed and highlighted.Recent advancements in the mRNA vaccine of COVID-19 were emphasized.Finally,we described our future vision and perspectives in this field.Wanting Zhang Yuxin Jiang Yonglong He Hamza Boucetta Jun Wu Zhongjian Chen Wei He 2023Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2023,13,10:1
17Comparative efficacy of traditional Chinese herbal injection for chronic renal failure:A systematic review and network meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials显示文摘Objective: To conduct a systematic review and network meta-analysis(NMA) for the comparison of the efficacy and safety of Chinese herbal injection(CHI) combined with Western medicine(WM) and WM monotherapy for chronic renal failure(CRF).Methods: Eight databases were searched from inception to August 30, 2022. Randomized controlled trials(RCTs) regarding the comparison of CHI-WM combination therapy and WM monotherapy were included. Literature search, risk-of-bias assessment, and data extraction were conducted by 2 reviewers independently. NMA was performed by Stata 14.0, R 4.0.4 software, and the latest risk of bias assessment tool 2(RoB 2).Results: A total of 53 RCTs were finally included, involving 4445 participants and 16 CHIs. RoB 2 showed that 2 of these studies had a high risk of bias. Tianqi injection(TQ) + WM was the most effective in reducing serum creatinine(Scr) level. Xingding injection(XD) + WM was the most effective in reducing blood urea nitrogen(BUN) and cystatin C(Cys C) levels. Guhong injection(GH) + WM had the highest endogenous creatinine clearance rate(Ccr). Shuxuetong injection(SXT) + WM was the most effective in improving the clinical effective rate. Danhong injection(DH) + WM resulted in the lowest 24-h urinary protein quantity(24 h-UPQ), while Danshen injection(DS) + WM led to the lowest blood uric acid(UA)level. 20The immunoregulatory role of fish specific type Ⅱ SOCS via inhibiting metaflammation in the gut-liver axis显示文摘SOCS8,also known as CISHb,is a fish-specific type Ⅱ SOCS.Because CISH binds to cytokine receptors and may inhibit STAT5 activation(a substrate of the insulin receptor),SOCS8 may be involved in the control of metaflammation.The socs8-/-zebrafish were created,and both longer trunks and intestinal villi were observed in 1-month-old(mo)fish.Altered mucosal immunity and gut-liver metabolism were also found in socs8-/-fish.Increased intestinal neutrophils and macrophages,together with overexpression of cytokines and T cell markers in this mutant fish,suggested SOCS8's immunoregulating role.During modeling of soybean-induced enteritis using the 3 mo zebrafish,lower expression levels of inflammatory genes but more mucosa barrier disruption were discovered in socs8-/-zebrafish,compared with wide type counterparts.Furthermore,the shrunk villi at 6 mo in socs8-/-fish suggested that the mucosa might have been protected by SOCS8.This is also consistent with the assertion that metaflammation eventually leads to tissue degeneration and premature death.The fact that socs8-/-fish had more hepatic oil droplets compared to their wild-type counterparts suggested SOCS8's role in inhibiting hepatic metaflammation.Transcriptomic analysis as well as 16S rRNA gene sequencing were done on 3 mo socs8-/-fish to methodically reveal the altered immunity and metabolic reprogramming in the gut and liver caused by socs8-/-.The enriched GO terms for the intestinal tract,such as'cytokine-mediated signaling pathway'and'response to external biotic stimulus',as well as KEGG pathways in both gut and liver like'carbon metabolism'and'glycolysis/gluconeogenesis',were consistent with previously revealed pathological clues and improved growth performance at early age,respectively.In addition,the microbiota in the socs8-/-strain had adapted to the host's increased carbohydrate metabolism,as evidenced by higher levels of Bacteroidota.Furthermore,Verrucomicrobiota associated with immunoregulation were found in lower abundance in socs8-/-fish.As a result,current findings indicate that SOCS8 plays immunoregulatory and mucosa-protective roles in the fish gut and liver by inhibiting carbohydrate metabolism.Qingsong Zhu Yuhang Liu Yingyin Cheng Wanting Zhang Nan Wu Xiao-Qin Xia 2023Water Biology and Security2023,2,2:0
