3Nonintubated uniportal video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery for primary spontaneous pneumothorax显示文摘Objective:The objective of the current study was to evaluate the feasibility and safety of nonintubated uniportal video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery(VATS) for the management of primary spontaneous pneumothorax(PSP).Methods:From November 2011 to June 2013,32 consecutive patients with PSP were treated by nonintubated uniportal thoracoscopic bullectomy using epidural anaesthesia and sedation without endotracheal intubation.An incision 2 cm in length was made at the 6^(th) intercostal space in the median axillary line.The pleural space was entered by blunt dissection for placement of a soft incision protector.Instruments were then inserted through the incision protector to perform thoracoscopic bullectomy.Data were collected within a minimum follow-up period of 10 months.Results:The average time of surgery was 49.0 min(range,33-65 min).No complications were recorded.The postoperative feeding time was 6 h.The mean postoperative chest tube drainage and hospital stay were19.3 h and 41.6 h,respectively.The postoperative pain was mild for 30 patients(93.75%) and moderate for two patients(6.25%).No recurrences of pneumothorax were observed at follow-up.Conclusions:The initial results indicated that nonintubated uniportal video-assisted thoracoscopic operations are not only technically feasible,but may also be a safe and less invasive alternative for select patients in the management of PSP.This is the first report to include the use of a nonintubated uniportal technique in VATS for such a large number of PSP cases.Further work and development of instruments are needed to define the applications and advantages of this technique.Shuben Li Fei Cui Jun Liu Xin Xu Wenlong Shao Weiqiang Yin Hanzhang Chen Jianxing He 2015Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2015,27,2:15
4First mass measurement of short-lived nuclides at HIRFL-CSR显示文摘Recent commissioning of the HIRFL-CSR has demonstrated its ability to perform direct mass measurement for short-lived nuclides. Projectile fragments produced by the 78Kr ions at 481.88 MeV/u were separated with the new radioactive beam line in Lanzhou (RIBLL2), and injected into and stored in the experimental storage ring (CSRe). By operating the CSRe as an isochronous mass spectrometry, a typical mass resolution around 2.0×10?5 has been achieved. The masses for 63Ge, 65As and 67Se were measured for the first time. The measured masses are compared with theoretical predictions and the location of the proton drip-line for As isotopes is discussed. 5Diode-pumped power scalable Kerr-lens mode-locked Yb:CYA laser显示文摘Stable 68 fs pulses with the average power of 1.5 W is directly generated from a multimode diode-pumped Kerr-lens mode-locked Yb:CYA laser by separating the gain medium and Kerr medium. The repetition rate is about 50 MHz, resulting in a single pulse energy of 30 n J and a peak power of 0.44 MW. To the best of our knowledge, this is the highest single pulse energy ever produced from a mode-locked Yb:CYA oscillator. Our experimental results show that Yb:CYA crystal is an excellent candidate for multiwatt, sub-100 fs pulse generation in diode-pumped all-solid-state lasers. 7Long-term survival outcomes of video-assisted thoracic surgery for patients with non-small cell lung cancer显示文摘Background: Video-assisted thoracic surgery(VATS) has been shown to be a safe alternative to conventional thoracotomy for patients with non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC). However, popularization of this relatively novel technique has been slow, partly due to concerns about its long-term outcomes. The present study aimed to evaluate the long-term survival outcomes of patients with NSCLC after VATS, and to determine the significant prognostic factors on overall survival.Methods: Consecutive patients diagnosed with NSCLC referred to one institution for VATS were identified from a central database. Patients were treated by either complete-VATS or assisted-VATS, as described in previous studies. A number of baseline patient characteristics, clinicopathologic data and treatment-related factors were analyzed as potential prognostic factors on overall survival.Results: Between January 2000 and December 2007, 1,139 patients with NSCLC who underwent VATS and fulfilled a set of predetermined inclusion criteria were included for analysis. The median age of the entire group was 60 years, with 791 male patients(69%). The median 5-year overall survival for Stage I, II, III and IV disease according to the recently updated TNM classification system were 72.2%, 47.5%, 29.8% and 28.6%, respectively. 9Multimetallic AuPd@Pd@Pt core-interlayer-shell icosahedral electrocatalysts for highly efficient oxygen reduction reaction显示文摘Incorporating Pt with core metals into Pt-based core-shell catalysts is regarded as a promising strategy to substantially enhance the catalytic properties towards oxygen reduction reaction(ORR) in fuel cells due to the synergetic effect between distinct metals. In this wok, ultrathin Pt skins with two atomic layers were epitaxially coated on as-prepared icosahedral Au_50Pd_50, Au_60Pd_40 and Au_66Pd_34 nanocrystal seeds,which are constructed with alloyed cores and Pd shells with different thickness. Through electron microscopic characterizations, Pd interlayers with tunable thickness of 3, 6, and 12 atomic layers can be found in the Au_66Pd_34@Pt, Au_60 Pd_40@Pt and Au_50Pd_50@Pt icosahedra, respectively. These icosahedral Au Pd@Pd@Pt nanocrystals show substantially enhanced activities and durabilities in electrocatalytic measurements towards ORR compared to Au_75Pd_25@Pt icosahedra without Pd interlayer and commercial Pt/C catalysts. 10Preparation of sulfoaluminate cementitious material using harmful titanium gypsum:material properties and heavy metal immobilization characteristics显示文摘The production of titanium dioxide(a necessary industrial color additive)can generate massive amount of titanium gypsum,a hard-to-treat solid waste.Diverse metallic impurities,heavy metals and reddish color in titanium gypsum make it difficult to be used in building materials like other by-product gypsums.As a result,most of titanium gypsum in China is just stored and has caused serious environmental issues.In this study,titanium gypsum,which contained high contents of impurities and heavy metals,was synergistically used with other three solid wastes to prepare sulfoaluminate cementitious material(SACM)for the first time.The mass proportion of titanium gypsum in the raw materials exceeded 25%.The chemical,mechanical and heavy metal leaching characteristics of this solid waste-based SACM were tested via XRD,XRF,ICP-OES,etc.The main components and metallic impurities of titanium gypsum could be transformed to the components of the main mineral of SACM,ye’elimite.The compressive strength of the prepared SACM reached 38.2,59.7 and 95.8 MPa at 1-day,3-day,and 28-day hydration,respectively,indicating the features of rapidly hardening and high strength.Importantly,the solid waste-based SACM could effectively solidify the heavy metals contained in titanium gypsum and other raw material during thje hydration process.The retention ratio of total Cr reached 97.5%,and other heavy metals were almost not detected in the leachate of SACM.This study provided a feasible approach to utilize titanium gypsum to produce high-performance,green building material,and might promote the massive utilization of this solid waste.Jingwei Li Wenlong Wang Dong Xu Xujiang Wang Yanpeng Mao 2020Waste Disposal and Sustainable Energy2020,2,2:5
11Inhibition of cyclooxygenase-2 activity in subchondral bone modifies a subtype of osteoarthritis显示文摘Osteoarthritis(OA) causes the destruction of joints. Its pathogenesis is still under investigation, and there is no effective diseasemodifying therapy. Here, we report that elevated cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2) expression in the osteocytes of subchondral bone causes both spontaneous OA and rheumatoid arthritis(RA). The knockout of COX-2 in osteocytes or treatment with a COX-2 inhibitor effectively rescues the structure of subchondral bone and attenuates cartilage degeneration in spontaneous OA(STR/Ort)mice and tumor necrosis factor-α transgenic RA mice. Thus, elevated COX-2 expression in subchondral bone induces both OAassociated and RA-associated joint cartilage degeneration. 13Tectonic Evolution of Southeast Central Asian Orogenic Belt: Evidence from Geochronological Data and Paleontology of the Early Paleozoic Deposits in Inner Mongolia显示文摘In this study, we present detrital zircon U-Pb dating and paleontological data for the newly identified Ayadeng Formation in the northern margin of the North China Block(NCB) and Xibiehe Formation(molasse) in the Bainaimiao arc belt(BAB), which could provide strong evidence indicating the affinity of the BAB and the evolution of the southeast Central Asian orogenic belt(CAOB). Zircon U-Pb data of siltstone samples and paleontological data indicate the Ayadeng Formation dates back to the Early Ordovician. Although its location is near the NCB, its zircon age spectra and paleontology share a closer affinity with those of Tarim and NE Gondwana, as the U-Pb data suggest an age range of 490–2 192 Ma(peak age=629, 788, 965 and 1 935 Ma), and similar gastropod fossils are found in Tarim and NE Gondwana. The U-Pb ages of meta-sandstone samples in the Xuniwusu Formation indicate a shared inheritance with the Ayadeng Formation(before 440 Ma), and the U-Pb ages of sandstone samples in the Xibiehe Formation are concentrated, with age peaks centered at ca. 420 Ma. Fossil corals occur in these two formations, and their age components also indicate a collisional setting. Therefore, it is speculated that the BAB drifted away from Tarim or NE Gondwana during the Ordovician and became attached to northern NCB between 440–420 Ma as an exotic terrane. 16Strontium modulates osteogenic activity of bone cement composed of bioactive borosilicate glass particles by activating Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway显示文摘There is a need for synthetic grafts to reconstruct large bone defects using minimal invasive surgery.Our previous study showed that incorporation of Sr into bioactive borate glass cement enhanced the osteogenic capacity in vivo.However,the amount of Sr in the cement to provide an optimal combination of physicochemical properties and capacity to stimulate bone regeneration and the underlying molecular mechanism of this stimulation is yet to be determined.In this study,bone cements composed of bioactive borosilicate glass particles substituted with varying amounts of Sr(0 mol%to 12 mol%SrO)were created and evaluated in vitro and in vivo.The setting time of the cement increased with Sr substitution of the glass.Upon immersion in PBS,the cement degraded and converted more slowly to HA(hydroxyapatite)with increasing Sr substitution.The released Sr2+modulated the proliferation,differentiation,and mineralization of hBMSCs(human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells)in vitro.Osteogenic characteristics were optimally enhanced with cement(designated BG6Sr)composed of particles substituted with 6mol%SrO.When implanted in rabbit femoral condyle defects,BG6Sr cement supported better peri-implant bone formation and bone-implant contact,comparing to cements substituted with 0mol%or 9mol%SrO.The underlying mechanism is involved in the activation of Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway in osteogenic differentiation of hBMSCs.These results indicate that BG6Sr cement has a promising combination of physicochemical properties and biological performance for minimally invasive healing of bone defects.Xu Cui Yadong Zhang Jianyun Wang Chengcheng Huang Yudong Wang Hongsheng Yang Wenlong Liu Ting Wang Deping Wang Guocheng Wang Changshun Ruan Dafu Chen William W.Lu Wenhai Huang Mohamed N.Rahaman Haobo Pan 2020Bioactive Materials2020,5,2:3
17Accumulation of carotenoids and expression of carotenoid biosynthesis genes in fruit flesh during fruit development in two Cucurbita maxima inbred lines显示文摘Mesocarp color is an important agronomic trait of Cucurbita maxima and is determined mainly by the contents and compositions of the carotenoids.The two inbred lines with significant differences in fruit flesh color were used in the study,the orange’312-1’and white’98-2’.Changes in seven carotenoid contents and compositions in the flesh of fruit produced by inbred lines’312-1’and’98-2’were analyzed during fruit development.The expression of eight key carotenoid biosynthesis genes in the fruit flesh were investigated during five fruit development stage in two inbred lines.As the flesh color intensified,the orange flesh color of’312-1’was determined mainly by the increased contents of lutein,β-carotene and zeaxanthin and the lack of carotenoid accumulation led to the formation of white flesh in’98-2’fruit.The expression of the LCY-e and CHYb genes was significantly stronger in’312-1’than in’98-2’,and their expression was strongly correlated with lutein andβ-carotene contents during fruit development.This study provides a deep understanding of the molecular mechanism of carotenoid biosynthesis in fruit flesh and provides a basis for additional studies on the highly refined improvement of squash quality.Yusong Luo Chaojie Wang Manman Wang Yunli Wang Wenlong Xu Hongyu Han Zhichao Wang Yujuan Zhong Hexun Huang Shuping Qu 2021Horticultural Plant Journal2021,7,6:3
18In-situ TEM investigation of MoS2 upon alkali metal intercalation显示文摘Phase transition in two dimensional molybdenum disulfide (MoS_2) can be induced by several methods and has been investigated for decades. Alkali metal insertion of MoS_2 had been proved an effective method to cause phase transition early in 1970s, and has been gaining renewed interest recently, due to the possible application of MoS_2 in energy storage. The alkali metal intercalation of MoS_2 has been studied by various techniques, among which in-situ transmission electron microscopy (TEM) provides unique capability of real time resolving the structural evolution of the materials at high spatial resolutions. Here by in-situ TEM technique we investigated the structural evolution of MoS_2 upon lithium and sodium intercalation, along with transformation of the nanosheet and variation of the electron diffraction patterns. The intercalation process is accompanied by emergence of superstructures, which exist in several forms. The ion intercalation results in phase transition of MoS_2 from 2H to 1T, and the driving mechanism of the phase transition are discussed. 19Electrochemical solid-state amorphization in the immiscible Cu-Li system显示文摘As a typical immiscible binary system, copper (Cu) and lithium (Li) show no alloying and chemical intermixing under normal circumstances. Here we show that, when decreasing Cu nanoparticle sizes into ultrasmall range, the nanoscale size effect can play a subtle yet critical role in mediating the chemical activity of Cu and therefore its miscibility with Li, such that the electrochemical alloying and solidstate amorphization will occur in such an immiscible system. This unusual observation was accomplished by performing in-situ studies of the electrochemical lithiation processes of individual CuO nanowires inside a transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Upon lithiation, CuO nanowires are first electrochemically reduced to form discrete ultrasmall Cu nanocrystals that, unexpectedly, can in turn undergo further electrochemical lithiation to form amorphous Cu Lixnanoalloys. Real-time TEM imaging unveils that there is a critical grain size (ca. 6 nm), below which the nanocrystalline Cu particles can be continuously lithiated and amorphized. 20Flexible mica films for high-temperature energy storage显示文摘Dielectrics used for energy storage are highly desired for power electronics and pulse power applications and the polymer capacitors are the main commercial ones available.The development of flexible electronics and wearable devices require the relative materials being flexible.Besides,high temperature resistance is also desired because of the rising demand for high power devices and large electricity under elevated temperature.The polymer dielectrics for polymer capacitors are flexible but with relatively low working temperature normally less than 100℃.Therefore,fabricating a dielectric material to satisfy the flexibility and high working temperature simultaneously is still a great challenge.Here we propose one solution by demonstrating a hand-exfoliated fluorophlogopite film with micrometer scale thickness.Among which,the mica film with a thickness of around 10μm(Mica-10)exhibits the inorganic-like temperature stability even polymer-like flexibility.From 25℃to 200℃,Mica-10 has an energy density of around 11.27 J/cm^(3)with a variation within 2%,accompanied by a charge-discharge efficiency of around 95%at an electric field of 500 MV/m.Meanwhile,the thin thickness makes Mica-10 flexible,enabling its excellent flexibility and durability.This work revives the traditional material,mica,providing a way for high-temperature energy storage applications.Xinwei Xu Wenlong Liu Yi Li Yifei Wang Qibin Yuan Jie Chen Rong Ma Feng Xiang Hong Wang 2018Journal of Materiomics2018,4,3:3
