1Incidence and mortality of laryngeal cancer in China,2008–2012显示文摘Objective:To analyze the incidence and mortality rates of laryngeal cancer in China from 2008 to 2012.Methods:Incident and death cases of laryngeal cancer were retrieved from the National Central Cancer Registry(NCCR)database collecting from 135 cancer registries in China during 2008–2012.The crude incidence and mortality rates of laryngeal cancer were calculated by area(urban/rural),region(eastern,middle,western),gender and age group(0,1–4,5–9,…,85+).China census in 2000 and Segi’s world population were applied for age standardized rates.Join Point(Version 4.5.0.1)model was used for time trend analysis.Results:The crude incidence rate of laryngeal cancer was 1.86/100,000 ranked the 21st in overall cancers.The age-standardized incidence rates by China population(ASIRC)and by World population(ASIRW)were1.22/100,000 and 1.23/100,000,respectively.The crude mortality of laryngeal cancer in China was 1.01/100,000and it was the 21st cause of cancer-related death in overall cancers.Both the age-standardized mortality rates by Chinese standard population(ASMRC)and by world standard population(ASMRW)were 0.63/100,000.Incidence and mortality rates of laryngeal cancer were higher in males than in females and higher in urban areas than in rural areas.Middle areas had the highest incidence and mortality rates followed by eastern and western areas.Incidence and mortality rates of laryngeal cancer retained low level before age of 40 years old but increased greatly after and peaked in age group of 75.Incidence showed significant down trends in recent 10 years by 1.27%annually[95%confidence interval(95%CI):–2.2%,–0.3%].Mortality declined in females sharply by 5.18%per year although stable in males and both sexes combined.Conclusions:Appropriate targeted prevention,early detection and treatment programs should be carried out to control the local burden of laryngeal cancer.Yuqin Liu Qin Zhao Gaoheng Ding Yitong Zhu Wenying Li Wanqing Chen 2018Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2018,30,3:29
2Efficacy and safety of metformin and sitagliptin based triple antihyperglycemic therapy(STRATEGY):a multicenter,randomized,controlled,non-inferiority clinical trial显示文摘Despite the current guideline's recommendation of a timely stepwise intensification therapy,the 'clinical inertia',termed as the delayed treatment intensification,commonly exists in the real world,which may be partly due to the relatively little substantial evidence and no clear consensus regarding the efficacy and safety of triple oral agents in patients inadequately controlled with dual therapy.In this clinical trial performed in 237 centers in China,5,535 type 2 diabetic patients inadequately controlled by previous therapies were treated with a stable metformin/sitagliptin dual therapy for 20 weeks.The patients who did not reach the glycated hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c) goal were then further randomized into glimepiride,gliclazide,repaglinide,or acarbose group for an additional 24-week triple therapy.A mean HbAlc reduction of 0.85%was observed when sitagliptin was added to the patients inadequately controlled with metformin in 16 weeks.Further HbAlc reductions in the 24-week triple therapy stage were 0.65%in glimepiride group,0.70%in gliclazide group,0.61%in repaglinide group,and 0.45%in acarbose group.The non-inferiority criterion for primary hypotheses was met for gliclazide and repaglinide,but not for acarbose,compared with glimepiride,when added to metformin/sitagliptin dual therapy.The incidences of adverse events(AEs) were 29.2%in the dual therapy stage and30.3%in the triple therapy stage.Metformin/sitagliptin as baseline therapy,with the addition of a third oral antihyperglycemic agent,including glimepiride,gliclazide,repaglinide,or acarbose,was effective,safe and well-tolerated for achieving an HbAlc<7.0%goal in type 2 diabetic patients inadequately controlled with previous therapies.The timely augmentation of up to three oral antihyperglycemic agents is valid and of important clinical benefit to prevent patients from exposure to unnecessarily prolonged hyperglycemia.Wen Xu Yiming Mu Jiajun Zhao Dalong Zhu Qiuhe Ji Zhiguang Zhou Bin Yao Anhua Mao Samuel S.Engel Bin Zhao Yan Bi Longyi Zeng Xingwu Ran Juming Lu Linong Ji Wenying Yang Weiping Jia Jianping Weng 2017Science China(Life Sciences)2017,60,3:19
3DNA barcoding of the fungal genus Neonectria and the discovery of two new species显示文摘To determine a suitable DNA barcode for the genus Neonectria,the internal transcribed spacer rDNA,β-tubulin,EF-1α,and RPB2 genes were selected as candidate markers.A total of 205 sequences from 19 species of the genus were analyzed.Intra-and inter-specific divergences and the ease of nucleotide sequence acquisition were treated as criteria to evaluate the feasibility of a DNA barcode.Our results indicated that any single gene among the candidate markers failed to serve as a successful barcode,while the combination of the partial EF-1α and RPB2 genes recognized all species tested.We tentatively propose the combined partial EF-1α and RPB2 genes as a DNA barcode for the genus.During this study,two cryptic species were discovered,based on the combined data of morphology and DNA barcode information.We described and named these two new species N.ditissimopsis and N.microconidia.ZHAO Peng LUO Jing ZHUANG WenYing LIU XingZhong WU Bing 2011Science China(Life Sciences)2011,54,7:15

5Isolation and oral immunogenicity assessment of porcine epidemic diarrhea virus NH-TA2020 strain:One of the predominant strains circulating in China from 2017 to 2021显示文摘Porcine epidemic diarrhea(PED)caused by porcine epidemic diarrhea virus(PEDV)is one of the most devastating diseases in the global pig industry due to its high mortality rate in piglets.Maternal vaccines can effectively enhance the gut-mammary gland-secretory IgA axis to boost lactogenic immunity and passive protection of nursing piglets against PEDV challenge.From 2017 to 2021,we collected 882 diarrhea samples from 303 farms in China to investigate the epidemiology of PEDV.The result showed that about 52.15%(158/303)of the farms were positive for PEDV with an overall detection rate of 63.95%(564/882)of the samples.The S1 fragments of S gene from 104 strains were sequenced for the phylogenetic analysis.A total of 71 PEDV strains(68.27%)sequenced in this study were clustered into the predominant G2c subgroup,while the newly-defined G2d strains(9.62%)were identified in three provinces of China.The NH-TA2020 strain of G2c subgroup was isolated and cultured,and its infection to piglets caused watery diarrhea within 24 h,indicating its strong pathogenicity.Oral administration of NH-TA2020 strain to pregnant gilts stimulated high levels of IgA antibody in colostrum.The piglets fed by the gilts above were challenged with NH-TA2020 strain or CH-HeB-RY-2020 strain from G2d subgroup,and the clinical symptoms and virus shedding were significantly reduced compared to the mock group.Our findings suggest that G2c subgroup is the predominant branch circulating in China from 2017 to 2021.Oral administration of NH-TA2020 enhances maternal IgA and lactogenic immune responses,which confer protection against the homologous and emerging G2d PEDV strains challenges in neonates.Xiaowen Li Yang Li Jiapei Huang Yali Yao Wenying Zhao Yunjing Zhang Jie Qing Jing Ren Zhong Yan Zewei Wang Xiaofang Hu Duli Kang Hongqiang Liu Zhichun Yan 2022Virologica Sinica2022,37,5:6
6Selection of a DNA barcode for Nectriaceae from fungal whole-genomes显示文摘A DNA barcode is a short segment of sequence that is able to distinguish species. A barcode must ideally contain enough variation to distinguish every individual species and be easily obtained. Fungi of Nectriaceae are economically important and show high species diversity. To establish a standard DNA barcode for this group of fungi, the genomes of Neurospora crassa and 30 other filamentous fungi were compared. The expect value was treated as a criterion to recognize homologous sequences. Four candidate markers, Hsp90, AAC, CDC48, and EF3, were tested for their feasibility as barcodes in the identification of 34 well-established species belonging to 13 genera of Nectriaceae. Two hundred and fifteen sequences were analyzed. Intraand inter-specific variations and the success rate of PCR amplification and sequencing were considered as important criteria for estimation of the candidate markers. Ultimately, the partial EF3 gene met the requirements for a good DNA barcode: No overlap was found between the intra-and inter-specific pairwise distances. The smallest inter-specific distance of EF3 gene was 3.19%, while the largest intra-specific distance was 1.79%. In addition, there was a high success rate in PCR and sequencing for this gene (96.3%). CDC48 showed sufficiently high sequence variation among species, but the PCR and sequencing success rate was 84% using a single pair of primers. Although the Hsp90 and AAC genes had higher PCR and sequencing success rates (96.3% and 97.5%, respectively), overlapping occurred between the intraand inter-specific variations, which could lead to misidentification. 9Iron oxide nanoparticles with photothermal performance and enhanced nanozyme activity for bacteria-infected wound therapy显示文摘Metal-based nanomaterials usually have broad-spectrum antibacterial properties,low biological toxicity and no drug resistance due to their intrinsic enzyme-like catalytic properties and external field(magnetic,thermal,acoustic,optical and electrical)responsiveness.Herein,iron oxide(Fe_(3)O_(4))nanoparticles(IONPs)synthesized by us have good biosafety,excellent photothermal conversion ability and peroxidase-like catalytic activity,which can be used to construct a photothermal-enzymes combined antibacterial treatment platform.IONPs with peroxide-like catalytic activity can induce H_(2)O_(2)to catalyze the production of·OH in a slightly acidic environment,thus achieving certain bactericidal effects and increasing the sensitivity of bacteria to heat.When stimulated by near-infrared light,the photothermal effect could destroy bacterial cell membranes,resulting in cleavage and inactivation of bacterial protein,DNA or RNA.Meanwhile,it can also improve the catalytic activity of peroxidase-like and promote IONPs to catalyze the production of more·OH for killing bacteria.After IONPs synergistic treatment,the antibacterial rate of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus reached nearly 100%.It also has an obvious killing effect on bacteria in infected wounds of mice and can effectively promote the healing of S.aureusinfected wounds,which has great application potential in clinical anti-infection treatment.Jiaxin Guo Wenying Wei Yanan Zhao Honglian Dai 2022Regenerative Biomaterials2022,9,1:3
10Dynamic Response of Phragmites australis and Suaeda salsa to Climate Change in the Liaohe Delta Wetland显示文摘Because of its unique geographical location and ecological function, the Liaohe Delta Wetland is important in maintaining regional ecological balance and security. Monitoring and evaluating changes in the wetland are therefore of great importance. We used medium-and high-resolution satellite data, meteorological station data, and site measurement data to analyze changes in the area and spatial distribution of Phragmites australis and Suaeda salsa in the Liaohe Delta Wetland from 1998 to 2017, as well as their growth response to the climate change. The results showed that during 1998–2017, the areas of both P. australis and S. salsa wetlands alternated through periods of decreasing,increasing, and then decreasing trends. The annual change in the area and spatial distribution range of S. salsa fluctuated more than that of P. australis. The annual variation of normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI) in P. australis wetland showed an upward trend from 1998 to 2017. The area of P. australis cover that was improved, unchanged, and decreased accounted for 81.8%, 12.3%, and 5.9%, respectively, of the total area;evaporation and wind speed were the main meteorological factors affecting the NDVI;and contribution rates of the climate change and human activities to the NDVI were 73.2% and 26.8%, respectively. The area with vegetation cover being mainly S.salsa that was improved, unchanged, and decreased accounted for 63.3%, 18.3%, and 18.4%, respectively, of the total area;and no meteorological factors significantly affected the NDVI of S. salsa in the region. 11IAP's Solar-Powered Unmanned Surface Vehicle Actively Passes through the Center of typhoon Sinlaku(2020)显示文摘The solar-powered marine unmanned surface vehicle(USV) developed by the USV team of the Institute of Atmospheric Physics is a rugged, long-duration, and autonomous navigation vessel designed for the collection of longrange, continuous, real-time, meteorological and oceanographic measurements, especially under extreme sea conditions(sea state 6–7). These solar-powered USVs completed a long-term continuous navigation observation test over 26 days.During this time, they coordinated double-USV observations and actively navigated into the path of Typhoon Sinlaku(2020) before collecting data very close to its center during the 2020 USV South China Sea Typhoon Observation Experiment. Detailed high temporal resolution(1 min) real-time observations collected by the USV on the typhoon were used for operational typhoon forecasting and warning for the first time.
