| 1 | Efficacy and safety of metformin and sitagliptin based triple antihyperglycemic therapy(STRATEGY):a multicenter,randomized,controlled,non-inferiority clinical trial显示文摘Despite the current guideline's recommendation of a timely stepwise intensification therapy,the 'clinical inertia',termed as the delayed treatment intensification,commonly exists in the real world,which may be partly due to the relatively little substantial evidence and no clear consensus regarding the efficacy and safety of triple oral agents in patients inadequately controlled with dual therapy.In this clinical trial performed in 237 centers in China,5,535 type 2 diabetic patients inadequately controlled by previous therapies were treated with a stable metformin/sitagliptin dual therapy for 20 weeks.The patients who did not reach the glycated hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c) goal were then further randomized into glimepiride,gliclazide,repaglinide,or acarbose group for an additional 24-week triple therapy.A mean HbAlc reduction of 0.85%was observed when sitagliptin was added to the patients inadequately controlled with metformin in 16 weeks.Further HbAlc reductions in the 24-week triple therapy stage were 0.65%in glimepiride group,0.70%in gliclazide group,0.61%in repaglinide group,and 0.45%in acarbose group.The non-inferiority criterion for primary hypotheses was met for gliclazide and repaglinide,but not for acarbose,compared with glimepiride,when added to metformin/sitagliptin dual therapy.The incidences of adverse events(AEs) were 29.2%in the dual therapy stage and30.3%in the triple therapy stage.Metformin/sitagliptin as baseline therapy,with the addition of a third oral antihyperglycemic agent,including glimepiride,gliclazide,repaglinide,or acarbose,was effective,safe and well-tolerated for achieving an HbAlc<7.0%goal in type 2 diabetic patients inadequately controlled with previous therapies.The timely augmentation of up to three oral antihyperglycemic agents is valid and of important clinical benefit to prevent patients from exposure to unnecessarily prolonged hyperglycemia. | Wen Xu Yiming Mu Jiajun Zhao Dalong Zhu Qiuhe Ji Zhiguang Zhou Bin Yao Anhua Mao Samuel S.Engel Bin Zhao Yan Bi Longyi Zeng Xingwu Ran Juming Lu Linong Ji Wenying Yang Weiping Jia Jianping Weng | 2017 | Science China(Life Sciences)2017,60,3: | 19 |
| 2 | Blocking FSH inhibits hepatic cholesterol biosynthesis and reduces serum cholesterol显示文摘Menopause is associated with dyslipidemia and an increased risk of cardio-cerebrovascular disease.The classic view assumes that the underlying mechanism of dyslipidemia is attributed to an insufficiency of estrogen.In addition to a decrease in estrogen, circulating follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH)levels become elevated at menopause.In this study,we find that blocking FSH reduces serum cholesterol via inhibiting hepatic cholesterol biosynthesis.First,epidemiological results show that the serum FSH levels are positively correlated with the serum total cholesterol levels,even after adjustment by considering the effects of serum estrogen,in addition,the prevalence of hypercholesterolemia is significantly higher in peri-menopausal women than that in premenopausal women.Furthermore,we generated a mouse model of FSH elevation by intraperitoneally injecting exogenous FSH into ovariectomized (OVX)mice,in which a normal level of estrogen (E2)was maintained by exogenous supplementation. Consistently,the results indicate that FSH,independent of estrogen,increases the serum cholesterol level in this mouse model. | 5 | Use of acupuncture to treat cerebral infarction in the last 10 years A Scopus-based literature analysis显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To identify global research trends in the use of acupuncture to treat cerebral infarction. DATA RETRIEVAL: We performed a bibliometric analysis of studies on the use of acupuncture to treat cerebral infarction published during 2002-2011, retrieved from Scopus, using the Key Words of acupuncture and cerebral infarction or ischemic stroke. SELECTION CRITERIA: Inclusion criteria: peer-reviewed articles on the use of acupuncture to treat cerebral infarction indexed in Scopus and published between 2002 and 2011; types of publications were original research articles, reviews, meeting abstracts, proceedings papers, book chapters, editorial material, and news items. Exclusion criteria: articles that required manual searching or telephone access; documents that were not published in the public domain; and corrected papers. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: (a) Annual publication output; (b) language of publication; (c) type of publication; (d) key words of publication; (e) publication by research field; (f) publication by journal; (g) publication by country and institution; (h) publication by author; (i) most-cited papers between 2002 and 2006; and (j) most-cited papers between 2007 and 2011. RESULTS: A total of 160 publications on the use of acupuncture to treat cerebral infarction from 2002-2011 were retrieved from Scopus. The number of publications increased gradually over the 10-year study period; most were written in Chinese or English. Articles and reviews constituted the major types. The most frequent key word used was acupuncture. The most prolific journals in this area were Zhongguo Zhen Jiu and the Chinese Journal of Clinical Rehabilitation. Of the 160 publications retrieved, half came from Chinese authors and institutions. Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine was the most prolific research institute. Two papers were cited 30 times; they were published in 2002 and 2009, respectively. CONCLUSION: In the field of neuroscience, there is little literature on acupuncture for cerebral infarction. The most-cited papers were cited 30 times in the past 3 years. | 7 | Approaching the minimum lattice thermal conductivity of p-type SnTe thermoelectric materials by Sb and Mg alloying显示文摘SnTe, as the nontoxic analogue to high-performance PbTe thermoelectric material, has captured the worldwide interest recently. Many triumphant instances focus on the strategies of band convergence, resonant doping, and nano-precipitates phonon scattering. Herein, the p-type SnTe-based materials Sn0.85-xSb0.15MgxTe (x=0-0.10) are fabricated and a combined effect of Sb and Mg is investigated. Sb alloying tunes the hole carrier concentration of SnTe and decreases the lattice thermal conductivity. Mg alloying leads to a nearly hundredfold rise of disorder parameter due to the large mass and strain fluctuations, and as a consequence the lattice thermal conductivity decreases further down to ~0.64Wm^-1K^-1 at 773K, close to the theoretical minimum of the lattice thermal conductivity (~0.50Wm^-1K^-1) of SnTe. | 14 | Simultaneously optimizing pore morphology and enhancing mechanical properties of Al-Si alloy composite foams by graphene nanosheets显示文摘The integrity and regularity of pore morphology play an important role in determining the mechanical properties of the metallic foam materials.The conventional methods on refining pore morphology are mainly focused on the optimization of fabrication techniques,however,they are usually inconvenient and complicated.Recently,incorporating nano reinforcement is considered to be a suitable way to fabricate metallic composite foams accompanied by optimized pore morphology and enhanced mechanical properties.In this work,through a facile and rapid powder metallurgy foaming method,the aluminum-silicon(Al-Si)alloy composite foams reinforced by graphene nanosheets(GNSs)are successfully fabricated.The microstructure analyses reveal that,for the Al-Si alloy foams incorporating the GNSs(GNSs/Al-Si composite foams),the pore size is transformed to be smaller,the pore size distributions become more homogeneous and the pore shape is also refined to a regular and roundish state.Meanwhile,the shape of Si precipitates is found transforming from an irregular long strip(length of~20μm,width of~5μm)to a fine particle state(diameter of~5μm).Moreover,the compressive testing results show that,the 0.4wt%GNSs/Al-Si composite foams own the optimal compression stress of 11.7±0.5 MPa,plateau stress of 10.0±1.0 MPa and energy absorption capacity of 6.8±0.7 MJ/m^(3),which have improvement of 58.1%,53.8%and 51.1%in comparison with the Al-Si alloy foams counterpart,respectively.The present findings may pave a new way for developing new generation of metallic composite foams that with stable microstructure and excellent mechanical performance. | Weiting Li Xudong Yang Kunming Yang Chunnian He Junwei Sha Chunsheng Shi Yunhui Mei Jiajun Li Naiqin Zhao | 2022 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,6: | 3 |
