| 1 | Fate of Basal N Under Split Fertilization in Rice with ^(15)N Isotope Tracer显示文摘Split fertilization strategy is popularly adopted in rice to synchronize soil nitrogen(N) supply and crop N demand. Attention has been paid more on mid-season topdressing N, but limited on basal N. A clearer understanding of the basal N fate under split fertilization is crucial for determining rational basal N split ratio to improve the yield and reduce the loss to environment. A two-year field experiment with two N rates of 150 and 300 kg Nha^(-1), two split ratios of basal N, 40% and 25%, and two rice varieties,Wuyunjing 23(japonica) and Y-liangyou 2(super hybrid indica), was conducted. Labelled ^(15) N urea was supplied in micro-plots as basal fertilizer to determine the plant uptake, translocation, soil residual, and loss of basal N fertilizer. The results showed that basal N absorbed by rice was only 1.6%–11.5% before tillering fertilization(8–10 d after transplanting), 6.5%–21.4% from tillering fertilization to panicle fertilization, and little(0.1%–4.4%) after panicle fertilization. The recovery efficiency of basal N for the entire rice growth stage was low and ranged from 18.7% to 24.8%, not significantly affected by cultivars or N treatments. Soil residual basal N accounted for 10.3%–36.4% and decreased with increasing total N rate and basal N ratio, regardless of variety and year. 43.8%–70.4% of basal N was lost into the environment based on the N balance. Basal N loss was significantly linearly positive related with the basal N rate and obviously enhanced by the increasing basal N ratio for both varieties in both 2012 and 2013. The N use efficiency and yield was significantly improved when decreasing the basal N ratio from 40% to 25%. | 3 | Biochar Combined with Vermicompost Increases Crop Production While Reducing Ammonia and Nitrous Oxide Emissions from a Paddy Soil显示文摘Organic amendments such as vermicompost and biochar have been reported to enhance soil fertility and crop productivity.However, whether the co-application of both amendments has synergistic effects or whether such benefits are accompanied by the risk of gaseous nitrogen(N) loss in an agroecosystem remains unknown. A soil column experiment with a fully factorial design was conducted using three levels of vermicompost(no dose, low dose(1%, weight:weight), and high dose(3%, weight:weight)) without or with biochar(1%, weight:weight) to investigate their effects on rice growth and gaseous N loss across the crop growing season. Our results demonstrated that synergistic interactions existed between vermicompost and biochar in promoting crop yield. Compared with biochar amendment alone, biochar combined with vermicompost significantly(P < 0.01) increased rice yield by 26.5%–35.3%. However,high dose of vermicompost significantly(P < 0.01) increased the cumulative ammonia(NH_3) and nitrous oxide(N_2O) emissions. In the presence of vermicompost, the incorporation of biochar amendment significantly(P < 0.01) decreased the cumulative N_2O emission by 14.1%–18.6%. The lowest emission factor value of NH_3 and N_2O was achieved using biochar in combination with low dose of vermicompost. | 5 | Indocyanine Green-Conjugated Magnetic Prussian Blue Nanoparticles for Synchronous Photothermal/Photodynamic Tumor Therapy显示文摘Indocyanine green(ICG) is capable of inducing a photothermal effect and the production of cytotoxic reactive oxygen species for cancer therapy. However, the major challenge in applying ICG molecules for antitumor therapy is associated with their instability in aqueous conditions and rapid clearance from blood circulation,which causes insufficient bioavailability at the tumor site.Herein, we conjugated ICG molecules with Prussian blue nanoparticles enclosing a Fe_3O_4 nanocore, which was facilitated by cationic polyethyleneimine via electrostatic adsorption. The nanocarrier-loaded ICG formed stable aggregates that enhanced cellular uptake and prevented fluorescence quenching. Moreover, the strong superparamagnetism of the Fe_3O_4 core in the obtained nanocomposites further improved cellular internalization of the drugs guided by a localized magnetic field. The therapeutic efficacy of this nanoplatform was evaluated using tumor models established in nude mice, which demonstrated remarkable tumor ablation in vivo due to strong photothermal/photodynamic effects. | 12 | Evaluating the mechanical properties of anisotropic shale containing bedding and natural fractures with discrete element modeling显示文摘Natural fracture data from one of the Carboniferous shale masses in the eastern Qaidam Basin were used to establish a stochastic model of a discrete fracture network and to perform discrete element simulation research on the size efect and mechanical parameters of shale.Analytical solutions of fctitious joints in transversely isotropic media were derived,which made it possible for the proposed numerical model to simulate the bedding and natural fractures in shale masses.The results indicate that there are two main factors infuencing the representative elementary volume(REV)size of a shale mass.The frst and most decisive factor is the presence of natural fractures in the block itself.The second is the anisotropy ratio:the greater the anisotropy is,the larger the REV.The bedding angle has little infuence on the REV size,whereas it has a certain infuence on the mechanical parameters of the rock mass.When the bedding angle approaches the average orientation of the natural fractures,the mechanical parameters of the shale blocks decrease greatly.The REV representing the mechanical properties of the Carboniferous shale masses in the eastern Qaidam Basin were comprehensively identifed by considering the infuence of bedding and natural fractures.When the numerical model size is larger than the REV,the fractured rock mass discontinuities can be transformed into equivalent continuities,which provides a method for simulating shale with natural fractures and bedding to analyze the stability of a borehole wall in shale. | Yingjie Li Lihong Song Yuanjun Tang Jianping Zuo Dongjie Xue | 2022 | International Journal of Coal Science & Technology2022,9,2: | 1 |

| 15 | Efficient photocatalysis of tetracycline hydrochloride(TC-HCl) from pharmaceutical wastewater using AgCl/ZnO/g-C_(3)N_(4) composite under visible light: Process and mechanisms显示文摘AgCl/ZnO/g-C_(3)N_(4), a visible light activated ternary composite catalyst, was prepared by combining calcination, hydrothermal reaction and in-situ deposition processes to treat/photocatalyse tetracycline hydrochloride(TC-HCl) from pharmaceutical wastewater under visible light. The morphological, structural, electrical, and optical features of the novel photocatalyst were characterized using scanning electron microscopy(SEM), UV-visible light absorption spectrum(UV–Vis DRS), X-ray diffractometer(XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS), and transient photocurrent techniques. All analyses confirmed that the formation of heterojunctions between AgCl/ZnO and g-C_(3)N_(4)significantly increase electron-hole transfer and separation compared to pure ZnO and g-C_(3)N_(4). Thus, AgCl/ZnO/g-C_(3)N_(4)could exhibit superior photocatalytic activity during TC-HCl assays(over 90% removal) under visible light irradiation. The composite could maintain its photocatalytic stability even after four consecutive reaction cycles. Hydrogen peroxide(H_(2)O_(2)) and superoxide radical(·O_(2)) contributed more than holes(h+) and hydroxyl radicals(·OH) to the degradation process as showed by trapping experiments. Liquid chromatograph-mass spectrometer(LC-MS) was used for the representation of the TC-HCl potential degradation pathway. The applicability and the treatment potential of AgCl/ZnO/gC_(3)N_(4)against actual pharmaceutical wastewater showed that the composite can achieve removal efficiencies of 81.7%, 71.4% and 69.0% for TC-HCl, chemical oxygen demand(COD) and total organic carbon(TOC) respectively. | 17 | Perivascular localized cells commit erythropoiesis in PDGF-B-expressing solid tumors显示文摘Background:Tumors possess incessant growth features,and expansion of their masses demands sufficient oxygen supply by red blood cells(RBCs).In adult mammals,the bone marrow(BM)is the main organ regulating hematopoiesis with dedicated manners.Other than BM,extramedullary hematopoiesis is discovered in various pathophysiological settings.However,whether tumors can contribute to hematopoiesis is completely unknown.Accumulating evidence shows that,in the tumor microenvironment(TME),perivascular localized cells retain progenitor cell properties and can differentiate into other cells.Here,we sought to better understand whether and how perivascular localized pericytes in tumors manipulate hematopoiesis.Methods:To test if vascular cells can differentiate into RBCs,genome-wide expression profiling was performed using mouse-derived pericytes.Genetic tracing of perivascular localized cells employing NG2-CreERT2:R26R-tdTomato mouse strain was used to validate the findings in vivo.Fluorescence-activated cell sorting(FACS),single-cell sequencing,and colony formation assays were applied for biological studies.The production of erythroid differentiationspecific cytokine,erythropoietin(EPO),in TME was checked using quantitative polymerase chain reaction(qPCR),enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA,magnetic-activated cell sorting and immunohistochemistry.To investigate BM function in tumor erythropoiesis,BM transplantation mouse models were employed.Results:Genome-wide expression profiling showed that in response to plateletderived growth factor subunit B(PDGF-B),neural/glial antigen 2(NG2)+perivascular localized cells exhibited hematopoietic stem and progenitor-like features and underwent differentiation towards the erythroid lineage.PDGF-B simultaneously targeted cancer-associated fibroblasts to produce high levels of EPO,a crucial hormone that necessitates erythropoiesis.FACS analysis using genetic tracing of NG2+cells in tumors defined the perivascular localized cell-derived subpopulation of hematopoietic cells.Single-cell sequencing and colony formation assays validated the fact that,upon PDGF-B stimulation,NG2+cells isolated from tumors acted as erythroblast progenitor cells,which were distinctive from the canonical BM hematopoietic stem cells.Conclusions:Our data provide a new concept of hematopoiesis within tumor tissues and novel mechanistic insights into perivascular localized cell-derived erythroid cells within TME.Targeting tumor hematopoiesis is a novel therapeutic concept for treating various cancers that may have profound impacts on cancer therapy. | Kayoko Hosaka Chenchen Wang Shiyue Zhang Xue Lv Takahiro Seki Yin Zhang Xu Jing Jieyu Wu Qiqiao Du Xingkang He Yulong Fan Xuan Li Makoto Kondo Masahito Yoshihara Hong Qian Lihong Shi Ping Zhu Yuanfu Xu Yunlong Yang Tao Cheng Yihai Cao | 2023 | Cancer Communications2023,43,6: | 1 |
