| 1 | A feasible strategy for focal cerebral ischemiareperfusion injury: remote ischemic postconditioning显示文摘It is difficult to control the degree of ischemic postconditioning in the brain and other ischemia-sensitive organs.Remote ischemic postconditioning could protect some ischemia-sensitive organs through measures on terminal organs.In this study,a focal cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury model was established using three cycles of remote ischemic postconditioning,each cycle consisted of 10-minute occlusion of the femoral artery and 10-minute opening.The results showed that,remote ischemic postconditioning significantly decreased the percentage of the infarct area and attenuated brain edema.In addition,inflammatory nuclear factor-κB expression was significantly lower,while anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 expression was significantly elevated in the cerebral cortex on the ischemic side.Our findings indicate that remote ischemic postconditioning attenuates focal cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury,and that the neuroprotective mechanism is mediated by an anti-apoptotic effect and reduction of the inflammatory response. | Qiang Liu Shengnian Zhou Yaodong Wang Fang Qi Yuan Song Siwei Long | 2014 | Neural Regeneration Research2014,9,15: | 21 |
| 2 | Celastrus orbiculatus extract induces mitochondrial-mediated apoptosis in human hepatocellular carcinoma cells显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To investigate the apoptotic effects and underlying molecular mechanisms of Celastrus orbiculatus(C.orbiculatus) extract in human hepatocellular carcinoma cells.METHODS:Human hepatocellular carcinoma cells(HCCLM6) were treated with C.orbiculatus extract(COE) at different nontoxic concentrations(10,20,40,80,and 160 μg/mL).The effect of COE on HC-CLM6 viability was examined using 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide(MTT) assays.Cellular apoptosis following COE treatment was assessed by flow cytometry and western blot analysis.RESULTS:COE significantly inhibited cell viability and induced apoptosis of HCCLM6 cells in a dose-dependent manner.Apoptosis was accompanied by increased Bax expression and decreased Bcl-2 expression.In addition,COE treatment led to the release of cytochrome c,activation of caspase-3,and cleavage of poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase(PARP).Furthermore,activation of extracellular signal-regulated kinase(ERK),p38 kinase,and c-Jun N-terminal kinase(JNK) phosphorylation,and down-regulation of Akt phosphorylation was observed.CONCLUSION:COE induces mitochondrial-mediated,caspase-dependent apoptosis in HCCLM6 cells,which might be attributed to the activation of mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK) and inhibition of Akt signaling pathways.These data suggest that COE may be a potential treatment for human hepatocellular carcinoma. | Hua Zhang Yayun Qian Yanqing Liu Guoqing Li Pingfang Cui Yaodong Zhu Hui Ma Xue Ji Shiyu Guo Hisamits Tadashi | 2012 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2012,32,4: | 18 |
| 3 | Seasonal variability in tropical and subtropical convective and stratiform precipitation of the East Asian monsoon显示文摘Seasonal variations in tropical and subtropical convective and stratiform precipitation of the East Asian monsoon are analyzed using 10-year (1998-2007) Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) precipitation radar (PR) rain products (2A25). Datasets from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Fourth Assessment Report (AR4) 24 general circulation models (GCMs) are evaluated using TRMM PR rain products in terms of their ability to simulate convective and stratiform precipitation and their deficiencies. The results show that Asian monsoon convective and stratiform precipitation increases significantly after onset of the summer monsoon, but the percentage of convective precipitation clearly decreases over tropical areas while it increases in subtropical regions. The GCMs simulate well the seasonal variation in the contribution of Asian monsoon subtropical convective precipitation to the total rainfall; however, the simulated convective precipitation amount is high while the simulated stratiform precipitation amount is low relative to TRMM measurements, especially over the Asian monsoon tropical region. | 6 | Application and improvement of an adaptive ensemble Kalman filter for soil moisture data assimilation显示文摘Accurate assignment of model and observation errors is crucial for the successful application of land surface data assimilation algorithms. Poorly-specified model and observation errors can significantly degrade assimilation results. In 2008, Reichle et al. developed an operational procedure to adaptively tune model and observation errors. In this paper, we modified and applied Reichle's procedure in the Noah land surface model to assimilate observed surface soil moisture data. | 7 | Transplantation of primary cultured embryonic mesencephalic neural precursor cells for treating Parkinsonian rats显示文摘BACKGROUND: Choosing proper donor cells is one of keys in experimental and clinical studies on cell replacement therapy (CRT) for treating Parkinson disease (PD). Embryonic mesencephalic precursor cells (MPCs) can stably differentiate into dopaminergic neuron after in vitro proliferated culture. As compared with embryonic stem cell and neural stem cell strains, cell composition of embryonic MPCs after primary culture is also the most close to that of embryonic mesencephalic ventral cell suspension without proliferated culture. Successful experience accumulated in the latter suggests that primary cultured embryonic MPCs might be the most potential donor cells in clinical application with CRT for treating PD so far. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the feasibility of primary cultured embryonic precursor cells cultured primarily as donor cells in CRT for treating PD in rats. DESIGN: A randomized and controlled trial taking SD rats as experimental animals. SETTING: Department of Neurosurgery, Huashan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University. MATERIALS: This experiment was carried out at the Institute of Neuroscience, Shanghai Institute for Biological Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences from July 2003 to June 2004. Totally 26 female SD rats, with body mass of 200 to 220 g, were provided by Shanghai Experimental Animal Center of Chinese Academy of Sciences. METHODS: Stereotaxic injection of 6-hydroxydopamine into the medial forebrain bundle were perfored to develop PD model rat. Among 26 SD rats, 20 rats achieved a more than 5 turns/min in apomorphine induced rotation test, reaching the standard of PD model rats. Immunohistochemical detection was performed on 1 out of 20 model rats after execution, and the other 19 rats were randomly divided into control group (n=5), sham transplantation group (n=5)and cell grafted group (n=9). Primary cultured E12 MPC cell suspension (1.2×1011 L-1)were used as donor cells. 4 μL primary cultured E12 MPC cell suspension prepared freshly was injected into the lesioned corpus striatum of rats in cell grafted group, and 4 μL D-Hank’s solution was injected in sham transplantation group in the same way. There was no injection in control group. Apomorphine-induced rotation rate of PD rats were recorded respectively in cell grafted group and sham transplantation group pre-operation (initial value) and at postoperative 2, 4, 6 and 16 weeks. Apomorphine-induced rotation rate of PD rats was recorded in control group at postoperative 2 months (initial value) and following 2,4,6 and 16 weeks. To determine TH antigen with immunohistological ABC method (DAB developing) at 6 months post-transplantation to investigate the differentiation and survival of donor cells in the host body. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Apomorphine-induced rotation behavior before and after transplantation and the survival and differentiation of implanted cells in the host body at 6 months post-transplantation. RESULTS: Among 19 model rats, one rat died after transplantation respectively in the cell grafted group and sham transplantation group; finally 17 model rats entered the stage of result analysis. Relative apomorphine-induced rotation rate was significantly decreased in the cell grafted group as compared with that before transplantation, with significant difference (P < 0.01,P < 0.05);the mean value of relative apomorphine-induced rotation rate was significantly decreased at postoperative 16 weeks in cell grafted group as compared with that of corresponding relative rotation rate in control group, also with significant difference (P < 0.05).Immunohistological results showed that donor cells could differentiate into large and multi-polar dopaminergic neurons in the host body. | 11 | A comparison study of summer-time synoptic-scale waves in South China and the Yangtze River basin using the TRMM Multi-Satellite Precipitation Analysis daily product显示文摘Summer-time synoptic-scale waves in South China and the Yangtze River basin are quantified and compared by means of analyzing the 6-year (1998―2004) TRMM Multi-Satellite Precipitation Analysis (TMPA) daily product. An innovative 3-dimensional spectrum analysis method is applied. The results indicate that synoptic-scale waves appearing in South China prominently propagate westward within a zonal wavenumber range of 9―21 and a frequency range of-0.12―-0.22 cycles day-1, while those in the Yangtze River basin primarily move eastward with the same characteristic wavenumbers of 9―21, but within a frequency range of 0.2―0.29 cycles day?1. Zonal and meridional distributions, and seasonal variations of these waves are further explored and compared. | 12 | Numerical investigation on the assessment and mitigation of coal bump in an island longwall panel显示文摘This study presents a numerical investigation to assess the risk of coal bumps and produces a stress–relief technology using boreholes to mitigate risk during the extraction of an island longwall panel.Based on the geological condition in an island longwall panel in the Tangshan Coal Mine,Tangshan,China,a numerical FLAC3D(Fast Lagrangian Analysis of Continua in 3 Dimensions) model was established to determine and to map the zones in the panel with a high risk for coal bumps.The results of the numerical modeling show that the roof deformation starts to occur at more than 30 m ahead of the longwall face and the deformation starts to accelerate after a distance of 10 m in front of the longwall face.Large and rapid roof deformation is considered to be an important precursor of coal bump occurrence during the extraction of an island longwall panel.Based on the numerical results,a stress–relief technology using boreholes,which was employed to release abutment pressure,was investigated through numerical methods.The modeled results suggest that the peak stress concentration could be released by drilling boreholes in the zones prone to coal bumps.The effectiveness of the stress release increased with the borehole length and decreased with the borehole spacing. | Wang Hongwei Jiang Yaodong Zhu Jie Shan Ruyue Wang Chen | 2013 | International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2013,23,5: | 6 |

The algorithm, in consideration of the characteristics of the structure of the frame, can eliminate the side peaks completely in the valid Doppler observation interval by setting the reference signals to zero at equal intervals. | 14 | Organic-semiconductor: Polymer-electret blends for high-performance transistors显示文摘As compared with polymer semiconductors, solution-processed small-moleculesemiconductors usually have poorer film-formation properties, which induceswide variations in device performance in terms of mobility and threshold voltage,thus severely limiting their commercial applications. In this work, we propose aneasily accessible method to improve the performance and reduce the variabilityof small-molecule organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) by blending organicsemiconductors with an insulator polymer, which is subsequently post-treatedby gate stress to generate an electret. By blending the organic semiconductor2,7-didodecyl[1]benzothieno[3,2-b][1]benzothiophene (C12-BTBT) with the insulatorpolystyrene, uniform transport layers with vertically phase segregated morphologyare obtained, from which the mobility and threshold voltage of OFETs are largelymanipulated. The OFETs exhibit field-effect mobilities as high as 7.5 cm2-V-l-s-1with an on/off ratio exceeding 106 in ambient conditions. This double-layerstructure provides an appropriate architecture for applying gate-stress to injectcharges into the insulating layer, forming an electret. The generation of theelectret is thermally accelerated and thus can be easily realized under moderategate-stress at elevated temperature (e.g., 60 ℃). After cooling, the electret layer servesas a floating-gate, which not only continuously tunes the threshold voltage andfield-effect mobility, but also helps minimize the contact resistances and optimizethe subthreshold swing. | 15 | Dynamics of NDVI and its influencing factors in the Chinese Loess Plateau during 2002-2018显示文摘Understanding the spatio-temporal changes of vegetation and its climatic control factors can provide an important theoretical basis for the protection and restoration of eco-environments.In this study,we analyzed the normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI)in the Chinese Loess Plateau(CLP)from 2002 to 2018 via trend analysis,stability analysis,and Mann-Kendall mutation test to investigate the change of vegetation.In addition,we also used the skewness analysis and correlation analysis to explore the contribution of climate change and human activities on regional vegetation changes.The results indicated that the overall increasing trend of NDVI from 2002 to 2018 was significant The areas showing increased NDVI were mainly distributed in the south-eastern CLP and the irrigation districts of the Yellow River to the north and west of the CLP,while the areas showing decreased NDVl were concentrated in the desert of the westem Ordos Plateau,Longzhong Loess Plateau,and the built-up and adjacent areas.Precipitation was the dominant factor contributing to vegetation growth in the CLP,while vegetation was less dependent onprecipitation in the irigation districts.The increasement of NDVI has led to a prolonged responsetime of vegetation to water stress and a lag effect of less than two months in the CLP.The effect of temperature on NDVI was not significant;significant negative correlations between NDVI and temperature were found only in the desert,the Guanzhong Plain,the southem Liupan Mountains,and the southeastem Taihang Mountains,owing to high temperatures,urban heat islands,and large cloud cover in mountainous areas.Affected by the'Grain for Green Program'(GGP),NDVIin the CLP increased from 2002 to 2018;however,the increasing trends of NDNI for differentvegetation cover types were significantly different owing to the difference in background status.The increasing contribution rate of NDVI in the CLP mainly came from crops and steppes.Urban not only led to the destruction of vegetation but also had radiation effect causing negative impact of NDVI around the cities.This resulted in the aggravation of the negative bias of NDVI with time in the CLP.The results provide a long-term perspective for regional vegetation protection and utilization in the CLP. | Peng He Lishuai Xu Zhengchun Liu Yaodong Jing Wenbo Zhu | 2021 | Regional Sustainability2021,2,1: | 4 |

| 17 | Improved production of docosahexaenoic acid in batch fermentation by newly-isolated strains of Schizochytrium sp.and Thraustochytriidae sp.through bioprocess optimization显示文摘Thraustochytrids,rich in docosahexaenoic acid(DHA,C22:6u3),represent a potential source of dietary fatty acids.Yet,the effect of culture conditions on growth and fatty acid composition vary widely among different thraustochytrid strains.Two different thraustochytrid strains,Schizochytrium sp.PKU#Mn4 and Thraustochytriidae sp.PKU#Mn16 were studied for their growth and DHA production characteristics under various culture conditions.Although they exhibited similar fatty acid profiles,PKU#Mn4 seemed a good candidate for industrial DHA fermentation while PKU#Mn16 displayed growth tolerance to a wide range of process conditions.Relative DHA content of 48.5%and 49.2%(relative to total fatty acids),respectively,were achieved on glycerol under their optimal flask culture conditions.Maximum DHA yield(Yp/x)of 21.0%and 18.9%and productivity of 27.6 mg/L-h and 31.9 mg/L-h were obtained,respectively,in 5-L bioreactor fermentation operated with optimal conditions and dual oxygen control strategy.A 3.4-and 2.8-fold improvement of DHA production(g/L),respectively,was achieved in this study.Overall,our study provides the potential of two thraustochytrid strains and their culture conditions for efficient production of DHA-rich oil. | Qiuzhen Wang Huike Ye Biswarup Sen Yunxuan Xie Yaodong He Sunghoon Park Guangyi Wang | 2018 | Synthetic and Systems Biotechnology2018,3,2: | 4 |
| 18 | A review of mechanism and prevention technologies of coal bumps in China显示文摘Coal bump refers to a sudden catastrophic failure of coal seam and usually can cause serious damages to underground mining facilities and staff. In this circumstance, this paper focuses on the recent achievements in the mechanism and prevention techniques of coal bumps over the past five years in China.Based on theoretical analysis, laboratory experiment, numerical simulation and field test, the characteristics of coal bumps occurrence in China's coal mines were described, and the difference between coal bumps and rockbursts was also discussed. In addition, three categories of coal bumps induced by'material failure' were introduced, i.e. hard roof, floor strata and tectonic structures, in which the mechanism of coal bumps induced by geological structures was analyzed. This involves the bump liability and microstructure effects on bump-prone coal failure, the mechanism of coal bumps in response to fault reactivation, island face mining or hard roof failure. Next, the achievements in the monitoring and controlling methods of coal bumps were reviewed. These methods involve the incorporated prediction system of micro-seismicity and mining-induced pressure, the distributed micro-seismic monitoring system, energy absorption support system, bolts with constant resistance and large elongation,and the 'multi-stage' high-performance support. | 20 | On-chip chalcogenide microresonators with low-threshold parametric oscillation显示文摘Chalcogenide glass (ChG) is an attractive material for highly efficient nonlinear photonics,which can cover an ultrabroadband wavelength window from the near-visible to the footprint infrared region. However,it remains a challenge to implement highly-efficient and low-threshold optical parametric processes in chip-scale ChG devices due to thermal and light-induced instabilities as well as a high-loss factor in ChG films. Here,we develop a systematic fabrication process for high-performance photonic-chip-integrated ChG devices,by which planarintegrated ChG microresonators with an intrinsic quality (Q) factor above 1 million are demonstrated. In particular,an in situ light-induced annealing method is introduced to overcome the longstanding instability underlying ChG film. In high-Q ChG microresonators,optical parametric oscillations with threshold power as low as 5.4 mW are demonstrated for the first time,to our best knowledge.
