2Associations of egg consumption with incident cardiovascular disease and all-cause mortality显示文摘Eggs are nutrient-dense while also loaded with abundant cholesterol, thus making the public hesitant about their consumption.We conducted the study to investigate if egg consumption is associated with incident cardiovascular disease(CVD) and all-cause mortality. Using the project of Prediction for Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease Risk in China, we included 102,136 adults free of CVD and assessed their egg consumption with food-frequency questionnaires. CVD endpoints and all-cause mortality were confirmed during follow-ups by interviewing participants or their proxies and checking hospital records/death certificates.The HRs(95% CIs) were calculated using the cohort-stratified Cox regression models. During 777,163 person-years of followup, we identified 4,848 incident CVD and 5,511 deaths. U-shaped associations of egg consumption with incident CVD and allcause mortality were observed. Compared with consumption of 3–<6/week, the multivariable-adjusted HRs(95% CIs) of <1/week and ≥10/week for incident CVD were 1.22(1.11 to 1.35) and 1.39(1.28 to 1.52), respectively. The corresponding HRs(95% CIs) for all-cause mortality were 1.29(1.18 to 1.41) and 1.13(1.04 to 1.24). 3Initial gut microbiota structure affects sensitivity to DSS-induced colitis in a mouse model显示文摘The dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced colitis model is a widely applied mouse model, but controversial results have been obtained from experiments using the same mouse strain under the same conditions. Because the gut microbiota play an important role in DSS-induced colitis, it is essential to evaluate the influence of the initial gut microbiota in this model. Here, we identified significant variations in the initial gut microbiota of different batches of mice and found that the initial intestinal microbiota had a profound influence on DSS-induced colitis. We performed three independent trials using the same C57BL/6J mouse model with DSS treatment and used high-throughput 16S rRNA gene sequencing to analyze the gut microbiota. We found that the structure and composition of the gut microbiota in mice with severe colitis, as compared with mice with milder colon damage, had unique features, such as an increase in Akkermansia bacteria and a decrease in Barnesiella spp. Moreover, these varied gut bacteria in the different trials also showed different responses to DSS treatment. 4A stable artificial protective layer for high capacity dendrite-free lithium metal anode显示文摘The metallic lithium(Li)is considered as the most promising anode material for high-e nergy batteries.Nevertheless,the uncon trollable growth of Li den drite and un stable electrolyte/electrode in terface still hin der the developme nt of Li-based battery.In this work,a no vel strategy has been proposed to stabilize Li anode by in-situ polymerizing polypyrrole(PPy)layer on Ni foam(PPy@Ni foam)as an artificial protective layer.The PPy protective layer can effectively decrease the contact between Li metal and electrolyte during cycling.In addition,the morphology characterization shows that the PPy layer can help the even Li deposition undemeath the layer,leading to a dendrite-free Li anode.As a result,when deposited 2 mAh-cm-2 Li metal,the PPy@Ni foam can keep stable Coulombic efficiency(99%)during nearly 250 cycles,much better than the pure Ni foam(100 cycles).Even in the case of the Li capacity of 10 mAh-cm-2,the stable cycling performance for 60 cycles can still be achieved.Furthermore,when assembled with LiFePO4 material as the cathode for a full cell,the PPy@Ni foam can keep high capacity retention of 85.5%at 500 cycles.In our work,we provide a simple and effective method to enhanee the electrochemical performances of Li metal-based batteries,and reveal a new avenue to design three-dimensional(3D)metallic curre nt collector for protecting the Li metal ano de.Zhipeng Wen Yueying Peng Jianlong Cong Haiming Hua Yingxin Lin Jian Xiong Jing Zeng Jinbao Zhao 2019Nano Research2019,12,10:6
5Joint frequency offset tracking and PAPR reduction algorithm in OFDM systems显示文摘This paper presents an algorithm that aims to reduce the peak-to-average power ratio(PAPR) of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM) communication systems while maintaining frequency tracking.The algorithm achieves PAPR reduction by applying the complex conjugates of the data symbol obtained from the frequency domain to cancel the phase of the data symbol.A likelihood estimator is used to obtain the sub-carrier phase error due to the residual carrier frequency offset(RCFO) using the same complex conjugates as a pilot signal.Furthermore,a joint time and frequency domain multicarrier phase locked loop(MPLL) is developed to compensate additional frequency offset.Simulation results show that this algorithm is capable of reducing PAPR without impacting the frequency tracking performance.Lijun Ge Yingxin Zhao Hong Wu Ning Xu Yu'ang Jin Wenqi Li 2010Journal of Systems Engineering and Electronics2010,21,4:4
6Allometric response of perennial Pennisetum centrasiaticum Tzvel to nutrient and water limitation in the Horqin Sand Land of China显示文摘Optimal partitioning theory(OPT)suggests that plants should allocate relatively more biomass to the organs that acquire the most limited resources.The assumption of this theory is that plants trade off the biomass allocation between leaves,stems and roots.However,variations in biomass allocation among plant parts can also occur as a plant grows in size.As an alternative approach,allometric biomass partitioning theory(APT)asserts that plants should trade off their biomass between roots,stems and leaves.This approach can minimize bias when comparing biomass allocation patterns by accounting for plant size in the analysis.We analyzed the biomass allocation strategy of perennial Pennisetum centrasiaticum Tzvel in the Horqin Sand Land of northern China by treating samples with different availabilities of soil nutrients and water,adding snow in winter and water in summer.We hypothesized that P.centrasiaticum alters its pattern of biomass allocation strategy in response to different levels of soil water content and soil nitrogen content.We used standardized major axis(SMA)to analyze the allometric relationship(slope)and intercept between biomass traits(root,stem,leaf and total biomass)of nitrogen/water treatments.Taking plant size into consideration,no allometric relationships between different organs were significantly affected by differing soil water and soil nitrogen levels,while the biomass allocation strategy of P.centrasiaticum was affected by soil water levels,but not by soil nitrogen levels.The plasticity of roots,leaves and root/shoot ratios was‘true’in response to fluctuations in soil water content,but the plasticity of stems was consistent for trade-offs between the effects of water and plant size.Plants allocated relatively more biomass to roots and less to leaves when snow was added in winter.A similar trend was observed when water was added in summer.The plasticity of roots,stems and leaves was a function of plant size,and remained unchanged in response to different soil nitrogen levels.Wei MAO TongHui ZHANG YuLin LI XueYong ZHAO YingXin HUANG 2012Journal of Arid Land2012,4,2:4

10Desertification Reversion in Relation to Land Use Change and Climate in Naiman County, Inner-Mongolia, China显示文摘Analyses of desertified land and land use change in Naiman County of Inner-Mongolia showed that there was a fluctuated in-crease of rain-fed cropland in the period from 1951 to 1960, then decreased until the middle of the 1990's, then increased again, while irrigated cropland consistently increased. The woodland and build-up land consistently increased while grassland area de-creased. The area of water body increased from 1975 to 1995 and then decreased while river beach decreased. Wetland change fluctuated with a maximum of 303.53km2 in 1995 and a minimum of 62.08 km2 in 2002. Invasion of cropland into river beach does not only change land coverage on the beach, but also the hydrological process of the river systems and deeply influence wa-ter availability. The correlation between cropland and underground water table is negative and significant. Increase of irrigated cropland is the primary cause of water availability reduction. Water table reduction is negatively correlated to cropland. The total desertified land has decreased since 1975. A rapid increase occurred before 1959, but it is difficult to assess the change of deserti-fication due to lack of data from 1959 to 1975. Changes of different types of desertified lands were different. There is no signifi-cant correlation between land use and different types of desertified land, but there is a significant negative correlation between woodland and total desertified land. The correlation between grassland and total desertified land is positive and significant. There is a significant correlation between different land cover and key factors such as water body and annual precipitation, river beach and runoff, area of shifting dune and annual precipitation, and cropland and underground water table. Desertification reversion in Naiman County is fragile and will be even much more fragile due to population growth, rapid land use and climate change. 16Egg laying and incubation rhythm of the Chinese Grouse(Tetrastes sewerzowi)at Lianhuashan,Gansu,China显示文摘Background:Incubating birds must balance the conflict between thermal needs of the developing embryos and their self?maintenance needs for energy.The Chinese Grouse (Tetrastes sewerzowi) lives in high mountain conifer forests and faces energy stress,cold environment,and predation pressure.Females might adjust incubation rhythm to adapt to these constraints. Methods:Two methods were used to investigate egg laying and incubation pattern of the Chinese Grouse;25 nests were monitored by data loggers and 12 nests by infrared video cameras. Results:Female Chinese Grouses usually laid an egg every 2 days.The incubation period was 28-31 days. Overall incubation constancy for Chinese Grouse was 93%. The females took 5.0 recesses per day and 34% of all 1696 recesses were taken in the crepuscular period. The average recess duration was 20.3 min. Females took more and shorter recesses in the latter part of incubation.The females who allocated more time to foraging had a higher reproductive success. Conclusions:Probably due to its high egg/body mass ratio,the Chinese Grouse has a long laying interval of 49 h.
