5Dynamic membrane bioreactor performance enhancement by powdered activated carbon addition:Evaluation of sludge morphological,aggregative and microbial properties显示文摘The effects of powdered activated carbon(PAC) addition on sludge morphological, aggregative and microbial properties in a dynamic membrane bioreactor(DMBR) were investigated to explore the enhancement mechanism of pollutants removal and filtration performance. Sludge properties were analyzed through various analytical measurements. The results showed that the improved sludge aggregation ability and the evolution of microbial communities affected sludge morphology in PAC-DMBR, as evidenced by the formation of large, regularly shaped and strengthened sludge flocs. The modifications of sludge characteristics promoted the formation process and filtration flux of the dynamic membrane(DM) layer. Additionally, PAC addition did not exert very significant influence on the propagation of eukaryotes(protists and metazoans)and microbial metabolic activity. High-throughput pyrosequencing results indicated that adding PAC improved the bacterial diversity in activated sludge, as PAC addition brought about additional microenvironment in the form of biological PAC(BPAC), which promoted the enrichment of Acinetobacter(13.9%), Comamonas(2.9%), Flavobacterium(0.31%) and Pseudomonas(0.62%), all contributing to sludge flocs formation and several(such as Acinetobacter) capable of biodegrading relatively complex organics. 6Expression of human cytomegalovirus components in the brain tissues of patients with Rasmussen's encephalitis显示文摘Rasmussen's encephalitis(RE) is a rare and severe progressive epileptic syndrome with unknown etiology. Infection by viruses, including human cytomegalovirus(HCMV), has been speculated to be a potential trigger for RE. However, no viral antigens have been detected in the brains of patients with RE; thus, a possible clinical linkage between viral infections and RE has not been firmly established. In this study, we evaluated the expression of HCMV pp65 antigen in brain sections from 26 patients with RE and 20 non-RE patients by immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization, and assessed the associations between HCMV infection and clinical parameters.Elevated expression of HCMV pp65 protein and DNA was observed in 88.5%(23/26) and 69.2%(18/26) of RE cases, respectively. In the non-RE group, HCMV pp65 antigen was detected only in two cases(10%), both of which were negative for DNA staining. Additionally, the intensity of HCMV pp65 staining was correlated with a shorter duration of the prodromal stage, younger age of seizure onset, and more severe unilateral cortical atrophy. Elevated expression of HCMV pp65 was observed in RE brain tissue and was correlated with the clinical features of RE disease. In summary, our results suggested that HCMV infection may be involved in the occurrence and progression of RE disease. 7Backbone formulation algorithm in wireless sensor network based on cross-entropy method显示文摘In wireless sensor network,virtual backbone is a cost effective broadcasting method.Connected dominating set formation is proposed to construct a virtual backbone.However,it is NP-Hard to find a minimum connected dominating set in an arbitrary graph.In this paper,based on cross-entropy method,we present a novel backbone formulation algorithm(BFA-CE)in wireless sensor network.In BFA-CE,a maximal independent set is got at first and nodes in the independent set are required to get their action sets.Based on those action sets,a backbone is generated with the cross-entropy method.Simulation results show that our algorithm can effectively reduce the size of backbone network within a reasonable message overhead,and it has lower average node degree.This approach can be potentially used in designing efficient broadcasting strategy or working as a backup routing of wireless sensor network.SHI Weiren JIANG Yisong ZHAO Ying 2014Instrumentation2014,1,1:8
8Emissions of automobiles fueled with alternative fuels based on engine technology:A review显示文摘Diversi?cation of alternative fuels for automobiles is not only an actual situation,but also a development trend.Whether the alternative fuels are clean is an important issue.Emissions of automobiles fueled with natural gas(NG),methanol,ethanol,biodiesel,dimethyl ether(DME)and polyoxymethylene dimethyl ethersare investigated and reviewed based on engine technology and fuel properties.Compared to gasoline,NG/gasoline bi-fuel and NG automobiles have higher brake thermal ef?ciencies(BTE)and produce less HC,CO and PM emissions,while moreCompared to diesel,NG/diesel dual fuel automobiles have lower BTE and emit lower soot andbut higher HC and CO emissions.Methanol and ethanol blending in gasoline can obviously reduce the HC,CO and PM emissions of spark ignition(SI)automobiles.Methanol or ethanol blending in diesel may prolong the ignition delay,shorten the combustion duration and improve the BTE,resulting in lower soot emissions.However,the HC,CO andof methanol or ethanol diesel blend fuels are uncertain due to low cetane number,high latent heat of vaporization.Most biodiesel has higher viscosity,distillation temperature,cetane number and oxygen content than diesel.Soot emission of biodiesel is lower than that of diesel,whileis higher.Both DME andnot contain Ce C bonds and their blend with diesel can prohibit the formation of soot.high cetane number and low viscosity,resulting in better ignitability and spray quality respectively.shortens both the ignition delay and the combustion duration,improves the BTE,and increases the temperature in the diffusion combustion phase,leading to a higher NOx emission.Yisong Chen Jinqiu Ma Bin Han Peng Zhang Haining Hua Hao Chen Xin Su 2018Journal of Traffic and Transportation Engineering(English Edition)2018,5,4:5
9Optimization of Extraction of Total Flavonoids from HERBA BLUMEAE RIPARIAE Using Response Surface Methodology显示文摘[Objectives]This study aimed to optimize the ultrasonic-assisted extraction process of total flavonoids from a Zhuang medicine HERBA BLUMEAE RIPARIAE using response surface methodology.[Methods]Using rutin as a reference substance,a standard curve was drawn at a wavelength of 292 nm.Content determination was performed through absorbance under different conditions.The effects of ultrasonic time,ethanol volume fraction and liquid-to-solid ratio on the yield of total flavonoids from HERBA BLUMEAE RIPARIAE were investigated by single-factor tests.By using Box-Behnken test,the ultrasonic-assisted extraction process of total flavonoids from HERBA BLUMEAE RIPARIAE was optimized.[Results]The optimal extraction process of total flavonoids from HERBA BLUMEAE RIPARIAE was as follows:ultrasonic time of 30 min,ethanol volume fraction of 50%and liquid-to-solid ratio of 40∶1(mL/g).Under the optimal extraction conditions,the average yield of total flavonoids from HERBA BLUMEAE RIPARIAE was 85.47 mg/g.[Conclusions]The optimized extraction process was convenient and feasible.This study will provide a reference for the extraction of total flavonoids from HERBA BLUMEAE RIPARIAE,and provide certain guidance and basis for further development and utilization of the plan resource of Blumea riparia(Bl.)DC.Hongna SU Yining ZHANG Xuexue LI Xuelian ZHAO Yisong LI Wenbing LI Yuan LIU 2020Medicinal Plant2020,11,2:5

11Detection of EBV and HHV6 in the Brain Tissue of Patients with Rasmussen's Encephalitis显示文摘Rasmussen's encephalitis (RE) is a rare pediatric neurological disorder, and the exact etiology is not clear. Viral infection may be involved in the pathogenesis of RE, but conflicting results have reported. In this study, we evaluated the expression of both Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and human herpes virus (HHV) 6 antigens in brain sections from 30 patients with RE and16 control individuals by immunohistochemistry. In the RE group, EBV and HHV6 antigens were detected in 56.7% (17/30) and 50% (15/30) of individuals, respectively. In contrast, no detectable EBV and HHV6 antigen expression was found in brain tissues of the control group. The co-expression of EBV and HHV6 was detected in 20.0% (6/30) of individuals. In particular, a 4-year-old boy had a typical clinical course, including a medical history of viral encephalitis,intractable epilepsy, and hemispheric atrophy. The co-expression of EBV and HHV6 was detected in neurons and astrocytes in the brain tissue, accompanied by a high frequency of CD8?T cells. 12An essential role for TAK1 in the contact hypersensitivity response显示文摘Contact hypersensitivity(CHS)is a delayed-type hypersensitivity that can be induced by haptens,such as 2,4-dinitrofluorobenzene(DNFB).Innate and adaptive immunities are both important for the development of CHS.To treat CHS-related diseases,such as allergic contact dermatitis,a disease prevalent in industrialized countries,ways of interfering with improper immune function during CHS responses need to be identified.Transforming growth factor-b-activated kinase-1(TAK1),a member of mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase kinase family,is important for both innate and adaptive immunities.We thus hypothesized that the CHS response could be inhibited by interfering with TAK1 activity.Using a mouse model in which TAK1 deletion can be locally induced,we observed that TAK deficiency led to an impaired CHS response and was associated with defective T-cell expansion,activation and interferon(IFN)-c production.In addition,we investigated the effect of deleting TAK1 specifically in dendritic cells(DC)on the CHS response.We found that when TAK1 is deficient in DC,the CHS response was abolished and hapten-elicited T-cell responses were defective.Collectively,this study demonstrates an essential role of TAK1 in the induction of CHS and suggests that targeting TAK1 could be a viable approach to treat CHS.Yan G Zhao Yunqi Wang Weidong Hao Yisong Y Wan 2011Cellular & Molecular Immunology2011,8,4:4
13Elevated expression of EBV and TLRs in the brain is associated with Rasmussen's encephalitis显示文摘Rasmussen's encephalitis(RE) is a rare pediatric neurological disorder, the etiology of which remains unclear. It has been speculated that the immunopathogenesis of RE involves damage to neurons, which eventually leads to the occurrence of RE. Viral infection may be a critical factor in triggering RE immunopathogenesis. In this study, we analyzed the expression of Epstein-Barr virus(EBV) antigens as well as of Toll-like receptor 3(TLR3), TLR9, and downstream adapter TIRdomain-containing adapter-inducing interferon-β(TRIF) in the brain tissues of 26 patients with RE and 16 control individuals using immunohistochemistry(IHC). In the RE group, EBV antigens were detected in 53% of individuals at various expression levels. In contrast, there was no detectable EBV antigen expression in control brain tissues. Moreover, we found marked increases in the expression of TLR3, TLR9, and TRIF in the brain tissues of RE patients compared with levels in the control group. Furthermore, among RE cases, EBV expression and high TLR3 expression were associated with more severe brain atrophy. 14TRIM47 is a novel endothelial activation factor that aggravates lipopolysaccharide-induced acute lung injury in mice via K63-linked ubiquitination of TRAF2显示文摘Endothelial activation plays an essential role in the pathogenesis of sepsis-induced acute lung injury,however,the detailed regulatory mechanisms remain largely unknown.Here,we reported that TRIM47,an E3 ubiquitin ligase of the tripartite motifcontaining protein family,was highly expressed in vascular endothelial cells.TRIM47-deficient mice were effectively resistant to lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced acute lung injury and death by attenuating pulmonary inflammation.TRIM47 was upregulated during TNFα-induced endothelial activation in vitro.Knockdown of TRIM47 in endothelial cells inhibited the transcription of multiple pro-inflammatory cytokines,reduced monocyte adhesion and the expression of adhesion molecules,and suppressed the secretion of IL-1βand IL-6 in endothelial cells.By contrast,overexpression of TRIM47 promoted inflammatory response and monocyte adhesion upon TNFαstimulation.In addition,TRIM47 was able to activate the NF-κB and MAPK signaling pathways during endothelial activation.Furthermore,our experiments revealed that TRIM47 resulted in endothelial activation by promoting the K63-linked ubiquitination of TRAF2,a key component of the TNFαsignaling pathway.Taken together,our studies demonstrated that TRIM47 as a novel activator of endothelial cells,promoted LPS-induced pulmonary inflammation and acute lung injury through potentiating the K63-linked ubiquitination of TRAF2,which in turn activates NF-κB and MAPK signaling pathways to trigger an inflammatory response in endothelial cells.Yisong Qian Ziwei Wang Hongru Lin Tianhua Lei Zhou Zhou Weilu Huang Xuehan Wu Li Zuo Jie Wu Yu Liu Ling-Fang Wang Xiao-Hui Guan Ke-Yu Deng Mingui Fu Hong-Bo Xin 2022Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2022,7,6:2

19A Review of Co-processing of Kitchen Waste and Municipal Residual Sludge显示文摘In this paper,the methods of kitchen waste disposal in recent years were summed up,and the advantages and disadvantages of the current treatment methods were analyzed. At the same time,it has been found that the co-processing of kitchen waste and residual sludge not only has dealt with both kitchen waste and residual sludge,but also the carbon and nitrogen ratio and moisture content of the mixture are balanced,and increases the processing efficiency significantly. It has a certain processing advantage. At present,most research is about the anaerobic digestion of kitchen waste and residual sludge,and the process is more mature,but the study of VFAs accumulation is still insufficient. Aerobic composting is still in the early stage of development,and there are few studies on it at home and abroad. 20Intricacies of TGF-βsignaling in Treg and Th17 cell biology显示文摘Balanced immunity is pivotal for health and homeostasis.CD4+helper T(Th)cells are central to the balance between immune tolerance and immune rejection.Th cells adopt distinct functions to maintain tolerance and clear pathogens.Dysregulation of Th cell function often leads to maladies,including autoimmunity,inflammatory disease,cancer,and infection.Regulatory T(Treg)and Th17 cells are critical Th cell types involved in immune tolerance,homeostasis,pathogenicity,and pathogen clearance.It is therefore critical to understand how Treg and Th17 cells are regulated in health and disease.Cytokines are instrumental in directing Treg and Th17 cell function.The evolutionarily conserved TGF-β(transforming growth factor-β)cytokine superfamily is of particular interest because it is central to the biology of both Treg cells that are predominantly immunosuppressive and Th17 cells that can be proinflammatory,pathogenic,and immune regulatory.How TGF-βsuperfamily members and their intricate signaling pathways regulate Treg and Th17 cell function is a question that has been intensely investigated for two decades.Here,we introduce the fundamental biology of TGF-βsuperfamily signaling,Treg cells,and Th17 cells and discuss in detail how the TGF-βsuperfamily contributes to Treg and Th17 cell biology through complex yet ordered and cooperative signaling networks.Junying Wang Xingqi Zhao Yisong Y.Wan 2023Cellular & Molecular Immunology2023,20,9:2
