1Tocilizumab in patients with moderate or severe COVID-19: a randomized, controlled, open-label, multicenter trial显示文摘Tocilizumab has been reported to attenuate the“cytokine storm”in COVID-19 patients.We attempted to verify the effectiveness and safety of tocilizumab therapy in COVID-19 and identify patients most likely to benefit from this treatment.We conducted a randomized,controlled,open-label multicenter trial among COVID-19 patients.The patients were randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to receive either tocilizumab in addition to standard care or standard care alone.The cure rate,changes of oxygen saturation and interference,and inflammation biomarkers were observed.Thirty-three patients were randomized to the tocilizumab group,and 32 patients to the control group.The cure rate in the tocilizumab group was higher than that in the control group,but the difference was not statistically significant(94.12%vs.87.10%,rate difference 95%CI−7.19%–21.23%,P=0.4133).The improvement in hypoxia for the tocilizumab group was higher from day 4 onward and statistically significant from day 12(P=0.0359).In moderate disease patients with bilateral pulmonary lesions,the hypoxia ameliorated earlier after tocilizumab treatment,and less patients(1/12,8.33%)needed an increase of inhaled oxygen concentration compared with the controls(4/6,66.67%;rate difference 95%CI−99.17%to−17.50%,P=0.0217).No severe adverse events occurred.More mild temporary adverse events were recorded in tocilizumab recipients(20/34,58.82%)than the controls(4/31,12.90%).Tocilizumab can improve hypoxia without unacceptable side effect profile and significant influences on the time virus load becomes negative.For patients with bilateral pulmonary lesions and elevated IL-6 levels,tocilizumab could be recommended to improve outcome.Dongsheng Wang Binqing Fu Zhen Peng Dongliang Yang Mingfeng Han Min Li Yun Yang Tianjun Yang Liangye Sun Wei Li Wei Shi Xin Yao Yan Ma Fei Xu Xiaojing Wang Jun Chen Daqing Xia Yubei Sun Lin Dong Jumei Wang Xiaoyu Zhu Min Zhang Yonggang Zhou Aijun Pan Xiaowen Hu Xiaodong Mei Haiming Wei Xiaoling Xu 2021Frontiers of Medicine2021,15,3:2
2Late Cretaceous K-rich rhyolitic crystal tuffs from the Chuduoqu area in Eastern Qiangtang subterrane:evidence for crustal thickening of the central Tibetan Plateau prior to India–Asia collision显示文摘In order to constrain whether the Lhasa–Qiangtang collision contributed to an early crustal thickening of the central Tibetan Plateau prior to the India–Asia collision,we present zircon LA–ICP–MS U–Pb ages,wholerock geochemistry,and zircon Hf isotopic compositions of the newly discovered rhyolitic crystal tuffs from the Chuduoqu area in the eastern Qiangtang subterrane,central Tibet.Zircon U–Pb dating suggests that the Chuduoqu rhyolitic crystal tuffs were emplaced at ca.68 Ma.The Chuoduoqu rhyolitic crystal tuffs display high SiO_(2) and K2 O,and low MgO,Cr,and Ni.Combined with their zircon Hf isotopic data,we suggest that they were derived from partial melting of the juvenile lower crust,and the magma underwent fractional crystallization and limited upper continental crustal assimilation during its evolution prior to eruption.They should be formed in a post-collisional environment related to lithospheric mantle delamination.The Chuduoqu rhyolitic crystal tuffs could provide important constraints on the Late Cretaceous crustal thickening of the central Tibetan Plateau caused by the Lhasa–Qiangtang collision.Yonggang Sun Bile Li Fengyue Sun Qingfeng Ding Junlin Dong Ye Qian Yujin Li Zhen Yao 2022Acta Geochimica2022,41,1:0

4Tuning the aggregation structure and electrical property of 2.6-diphenyl-anthracene by the density of octadecyltrichlorosilane显示文摘The physical and chemical properties of organic semiconductors are closely related to their aggregation structure. Tuning of aggregation structure and electrical property is important for the application in organic electronics. In this study, a facile way to tune the aggregation structure and electrical property of 2.6-diphenyl-anthracene(DPA) is realized by using the octadecyltrichlorosilane(OTS) modification layer with different density which is fabricated by controlling reaction temperature and time.Compared with low density OTS, DPA forms larger grain size, less grain boundaries, and better molecular ordering on high density OTS surface. As a result, the charge transporting mobility of DPA film on high density OTS surface is about two orders of magnitude higher than that on low density OTS surface. 5How temperature and hydrostatic pressure impact organic room temperature phosphorescence from H-aggregation of planar triarylboranes and the application in bioimaging显示文摘Highly efficient persistent organic room temperature phosphorescence(RTP) has attracted increasing attention because of promising applications in fields of chemical sensors, optoelectronic devices, information security, and bioimaging, etc. Wherein,the crystal engineering of H-aggregation offers stabilization for long-lived triplet exciton for RTP, but the related research is rare because of the scarcity of ideal phosphorescent H-aggregate. Herein, we designed planar tricoordinate organoboron derivatives with molecular arrangement in ideal H-aggregation. The integration of Br atom can largely enhance RTP efficiency through increasing SOC effect, while the antiparallel molecular arrangement causes annihilation of triplet exciton. Thanks to good selfassembly property, their RTP can even be observed in PMMA matrix with doping ratio of merely 1 wt%. We further found that the cryogenic temperature contributes to stabilizing triplet exciton in H-aggregation, leading to red-shifted phosphorescence. By applying high hydrostatic pressure, the phosphorescence was largely enhanced and redshifted, demonstrating the crucial role of H-aggregation on RTP property. 7Modulating the metal/organic interface via Cu TCNQ decorated layer toward high performance bottom-contact single-crystal transistors显示文摘The organic single-crystal field-effect transistors using anthracene derivative, H-Ant as an active layer with source/drain electrodes decorated by metal charge transfer salt(Cu TCNQ) were fabricated. We demonstrated that this bottom-contact structure displayed an obvious improvement in the electrical characteristics relative to their pristine copper and top-contact gold electrode counterparts. 8A Denoiser for Correlated Noise Channel Decoding: Gated-Neural Network显示文摘This letter proposes a sliced-gated-convolutional neural network with belief propagation(SGCNN-BP) architecture for decoding long codes under correlated noise. The basic idea of SGCNNBP is using Neural Networks(NN) to transform the correlated noise into white noise, setting up the optimal condition for a standard BP decoder that takes the output from the NN. A gate-controlled neuron is used to regulate information flow and an optional operation—slicing is adopted to reduce parameters and lower training complexity. 9The importance of H_(2) in the controlled growth of semiconducting single-wall carbon nanotubes显示文摘H_(2) is considered an indispensable component of the atmosphere for the growth of high-quality singlewall carbon nanotubes(SWCNTs)by chemical vapor deposition.However,details of the roles H_(2) playing are still unclear due to the complex conditions of SWCNT growth.In this study,we elucidate the functions of H_(2) in the selective growth of semiconducting SWCNTs(s-SWCNTs)by using monodispersed uniform Fe nanoparticles as a catalyst.High-quality s-SWCNTs were synthesized by finely tuning the concentration of H_(2) and the other growth parameters.Experimental data combined with atomistic simulations indicate that H_(2) not only adjusts the concentration of the carbon source,but also serves as a mild etchant that selectively removes small carbon caps grown by a perpendicular mode from the Fe nanoparticles.These results provide useful hints for the controlled growth of SWCNTs with a semiconducting or metallic conductivity,and even a specific chirality.Feng Zhang Jia Sun Yonggang Zheng Peng-Xiang Hou Chang Liu Min Cheng Xin Li Hui-Ming Cheng Zhen Chen 2020Journal of Materials Science & Technology2020,54,19:0
10TORSIONAL PROPERTIES OF METALLIC NANOSPRINGS显示文摘Based on molecular mechanics and the embedded-atom potential,the torsional mechanical behaviors of metallic copper nanosprings are investigated in this paper.The torsion coefficient of the nanospring is obtained by fitting the curve of potential energy versus torsion angle according to a parabolic law.It is found that the geometry of nanospring has a strong influence on the torsion coefficient.With the increase of the wire radius and the helix radius,the torsion coefficient of the nanospring increases.However,it decreases with the increase of the helix pitch and turns.It is also found that the classic spring theory is invalid to torsional nanosprings.The calculated torsion coefficient is higher than the predication from the classic spring theory and is lower than that of the corresponding solid rod.In addition,the continuum mechanics is shown to be inapplicable to describe the torsional behavior of nanosprings.These findings might provide a better understanding of the usability and functionality of nanosprings in nanodevices.Yonggang Zheng Hongwu Zhang Zhen Chen 2009Acta Mechanica Solida Sinica2009,22,6:0
11Clinical Epidemiology,Illness Profiles,and the Implication of COVID-19 Before and After the Nationwide Omicron Outbreak During the Winter of 2022显示文摘China.In this study,we aimed to investigate the clinical characteristics and outcomes of patients with coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)in the Beijing region.Methods:In this retrospective study,we enrolled inpatients admitted for COVID-19 in the Fifth Medical Center of Chinese PLA General Hospital in Beijing between November 10,2022,and January 30,2023.Demographic and clinical features and treatment outcomeswere comprehensively analyzed.We used logistic regression and linear regression analyses to explore the risk factors associated with disease severity and time of nucleic acid conversion,respectively.Results:A total of 1010 hospitalized patients with COVID-19 were enrolled.The median age was 43.0 years(interquartile range,28.0–63.0),and patients aged<60 years and≥60 years comprised 71.2%and 28.8%of total included patients,respectively.The clinical classification of mild(74.6%,753/1010),moderate(21.0%,212/1010),severe(2.7%,27/1010),and unidentified(1.8%,18/1010)was separately recorded;1005 patients were discharged,and 5 patients died in the hospital.The outbreak of the emerging epidemic witnessed an evident increase in the proportion of moderate(42.9%vs.16.4%)and severe(10.3%vs.1.1%)cases after December 7,2022.Patients with a moderate/severe classification had higher levels of procalcitonin,IL-6,serum ferritin,C-reactive protein,lactic dehydrogenase,serum urea nitrogen,and D-dimer and lower counts of CD4+T,CD8+T,and B cells(all P<0.001).Multivariable regression analysis revealed that increased odds of disease severity were associated with the following factors:age≥60 years,IL-6>7 pg/mL,lactic dehydrogenase level>245 U/L,cough,and fever at admission.Age≥80 years and chronic lung diseasewere independent risk factors in the nonmild group in elderly patients.In addition,the duration for nucleic acid to turn negativewas approximately 5.0 d(interquartile range,3.0–7.0).Prolonged time of nucleic acid conversion was associated with age≥60 years,serum urea nitrogen level>8.2 mmol/L,neutrophil count>7×10^(9)/L,and the presence of a chronic lung disease or carcinoma.Finally,unvaccinated patients accounted for 37.3%of enrolled patients;children and the elder people accounted for approximately half of that.The univariable analysis found that booster doses reduced disease severity and shortened the time of nucleic acid conversion in elderly patients.Conclusions:The outbreak ofOmicron rapidly increased the number of patientswith COVID-19 in Beijing.In elderly patients,booster doses may reduce disease severity and shorten the time of nucleic acid conversion.Healthcare systems should be optimized before an emerging epidemic outbreak.Yuming Guo Zhe Xu Wen-Xin Wang Cheng Zhen Jinhua Hu Jinsong Mu Chengcheng Ji Xin Yuan Ruonan Xu Lei Huang Lei Shi Fanping Meng Junliang Fu Shuangnan Zhou Siyu Wang Fengyi Li Bo Tu Dawei Zhang Huihuang Huang Yufeng Mao Wen Xu Chao Zhang Xiuying Mu Jun Zhao Bo Jin Haibin Su Yinying Lu Yongqian Cheng Dong Ji Shaoli You Jinghui Dong Changchun Liu Mengmeng Zhang Yuanyuan Li Tianjun Jiang Yonggang Li Fu-Sheng Wang 2023Infectious Diseases & Immunity2023,3,4:0
12Hexyl substitution of pentathienoacene toward a significant improvement in charge transport显示文摘A novel semiconductor, dihexyl-substituted pentathienoacene(C6-PTA) is designed and synthesized in five steps with the total yield up to 25.2%. The introduction of hexyl chains endow the thin film semiconductor with about threefold increase in carrier mobility and one to three orders of magnitude improvement in current on/off ratio. Furthermore, single crystal FETs based on C6-PTA exhibited mobility up to 0.64 cm^2 V^(-1) s^(-1), which is over 50 times higher than the thin film counterpart. 15Copper-promoted domino cyanation/Ullmann coupling toward difunctionalized acenaphthylenes with various optoelectronic properties显示文摘Tremendous progress has been made on aromatic fusion of acenaphthylene towards organic semiconductors.However,scarce studies focus on the functionalization of acenaphthylene without resort to aromatic extension,although vinylene double bond is highly reactive ascribed to the ring strain of the fused cyclopentene.Herein,for the first time we employ copper-promoted domino cyanation/Ullmann coupling to achieve a series of difunctionalized acenaphthylene imides(ANIs)with varied optoelectronic properties.Both Ullmann homocoupling and crosscoupling can be combined with cyanation for difunctionalization of ANIs.The introduction of cyano groups influences oppositely not only the energy levels but also the antiaromaticity of the fivemembered rings in ANIs relative to the dimethylamino substituent due to the electron donating or withdrawing effects.By altering the functional units,the optical and electrical characteristics have been tailored rationally;thus p,n or ambipolar semiconducting properties can be achieved for the ANI derivatives.This article opens up possibilities to the development of organic semiconducting materials based on ANIs without aromatic extension,which is promising for applications in organic electronics.Yang Wang Yang Hu Junfeng Guo Zongrui Wang Yang Li Fengxiang Qie Chunfeng Shi Lei Zhang Yonggang Zhen 2023Science China Chemistry2023,66,5:0
