It summarizes the recent research outcomes on defect findings and classification, analyzes formation mechanisms of the common defects, such as porosities, incomplete fusion holes, and cracks. The paper discusses the effect of the process parameters on defect formation and the impact of defect formation on the mechanical properties of a fabricated part. | 2 | Geochemical and isotopic characteristics of volcanic rocks from the northern East China Sea shelf margin and the Okinawa Trough显示文摘Volcanic rocks both from the northern East China Sea (NECS) shelf margin and the northern Okinawa Trough are subalkaline less aluminous,and lower in High Field Strength Elements (HFSE).These rocks are higher in Large Ion Lithophile Elements (LILE),thorium and uranium contents,positive lead anomalies,negative Nb-Ta anomalies,and enrichment in Light Rare Earth Elements (LREE).Basalts from the NECS shelf margin are akin to Indian Ocean Mid-Ocean Ridge Basalt (MORB),and rhyolites from the northern Okinawa Trough have the highest 207 Pb/ 204 Pb and 208 Pb/ 204 Pb ratios.The NECS shelf margin basalts have lower 87 Sr/ 86 Sr ratios,ε N d and σ 18 O than the northern Okinawa Trough silicic rocks.According to 40 K– 40 Ar isotopic ages of basalts from the NECS shelf margin,rifting of the Okinawa Trough may have been active since at least 3.65–3.86 Ma.The origin of the NECS shelf margin basalt can be explained by the interaction of melt derived from Indian Ocean MORB-like mantle with enriched subcontinental lithosphere.The basalts from both sides of the Okinawa Trough may have a similar origin during the initial rifting of the Okinawa Trough,and the formation of basaltic magmas closely relates to the thinning of continental crust.The source of the formation of the northern Okinawa Trough silicic rocks was different from that of the middle Okinawa Trough,which could have been generated by the interaction of basaltic melt with an enriched crustal component.From the Ryukyu island arc to East China,the Cenozoic basalts have apparently increasing trends of MgO contents and ratios of LREE to Heavy Rare Earth Elements (HREE),suggesting that the trace element variabilities of basalts may have been influenced by the subduction of the Philippine Sea plate,and that the effects of subduction of the Philippine Sea plate on the chemical composition of basaltic melts have had a decreasing effect from the Ryukyu island arc to East China. | ZENG Zhigang YU Shaoxiong WANG Xiaoyuan FU Yongtao YIN Xuebo ZHANG Guoliang WANG Xiaomei CHEN Shuai | 2010 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2010,29,4: | 19 |

| 4 | A Novel Hierarchical Porous 3D Structured Vanadium Nitride/Carbon Membranes for High-performance Supercapacitor Negative Electrodes显示文摘Transition-metal nitrides exhibit wide potential windows and good electrochemical performance, but usually experience imbalanced practical applications in the energy storage field due to aggregation, poor circulation stability, and complicated syntheses. In this study, a novel and simple multiphase polymeric strategy was developed to fabricate hybrid vanadium nitride/carbon(VN/C) membranes for supercapacitor negative electrodes, in which VN nanoparticles were uniformly distributed in the hierarchical porous carbon 3D networks. The supercapacitor negative electrode based on VN/C membranes exhibited a high specific capacitance of 392.0 F g^(-1) at 0.5 A g^(-1) and an excellent rate capability with capacitance retention of 50.5% at 30 A g^(-1). For the asymmetric device fabricated using Ni(OH)_2//VN/C membranes, a high energy density of 43.0 Wh kg^(-1) at a power density of800 W kg^(-1) was observed. Moreover, the device also showed good cycling stability of 82.9% at a current density of 1.0 A g^(-1) after 8000 cycles. | 8 | Interactively interfacial reaction of iron-reducing bacterium and goethite for reductive dechlorination of chlorinated organic compounds显示文摘The interactively interfacial reactions between the iron-reducing bacterium (Shewanella decolorationis, S12) and iron oxide (α-FeOOH) were investigated to determine reductive dechlorination transformation of chlorinated organic compounds (chloroform and pentachlorophenol). The results showed that the interactive system of S12+ α-FeOOH exhibited relatively high dechlorination rate. By comparison, the S12 biotic system alone had no obvious dechlorination, and the α-FeOOH abiotic system showed low dechlorination rate. The enhanced dechlorination of chloroform and pentachlorophenol in the interactive system of S12+α-FeOOH was derived from the promoted generation of adsorbed Fe(Ⅱ) by S12. A decrease in redox potential of the Fe(Ⅲ)/Fe(Ⅱ) couple in the interactive reaction system was determined by cyclic voltammetry. | 12 | A Remote Sensing-based Analysis on the Impact of Wenchuan Earthquake on the Core Value of World Nature Heritage Sichuan Giant Panda Sanctuary显示文摘In this study,we used remotely sensed data,GIS modeling,and statistical methods to evaluate the damage caused by the Wenchuan Earthquake (May 12,2008) to the giant panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca) habitat in the World Nature Heritage Sichuan Giant Panda Sanctuary (WHSGPS) in China.A landscape ecological analysis found increases of landscape heterogeneity,complexity,and fragmentation in the giant panda habitat after the earthquake.A terrain analysis found that slope and elevation are directly associated with the distribution of the damaged areas.As slope and elevation increase,the size of the damaged area keeps increase until to a peak,and then starts to drop.The total area of the damaged vegetation in our study area is 114.26 km 2,accounting for 3.78% of the study area;30.46% of that 114.26 km 2 is located in the Core Zone of WHSGPS.There are 18.57km 2 of the damaged vegetation located in the identified suitable giant panda habitat,accounting for 1.75% of the total area of suitable giant panda habitats in the study area.Based on these findings,we conclude that the Wenchuan Earthquake does not have significant impact on the WHSGPS as a whole. | YU Hu ZHAO Yongtao MA Yuewei SUN Yulian ZHANG Hu YANG Shihong LUO Yong | 2011 | Journal of Mountain Science2011,8,3: | 8 |

| 16 | Genome-wide association study of vitamin E in sweet corn kernels显示文摘Vitamin E,consisting of tocopherols and tocotrienols,serves as a lipid-soluble antioxidant in sweet corn kernels,providing nutrients to both plants and humans.Though the key genes involved in the vitamin E biosynthesis pathway have been identified in plants,the genetic architecture of vitamin E content in sweet corn kernels remains largely unclear.In the present study,an association panel of 204 inbred lines of sweet corn was constructed.Seven compounds of vitamin E were quantified in sweet corn kernels at 28 days after pollination.A total of 119 loci for vitamin E were identified using a genome-wide association study based on genotyping by sequencing,and a genetic network of vitamin E was constructed.Candidate genes identified were involved mainly in RNA regulation and protein metabolism.The known gene ZmVTE4,encodingγ-tocopherol methyltransferase,was significantly associated with four traits(α-tocopherol,α-tocotrienol,theα/γ-tocopherol ratio,and theα/γ-tocotrienol ratio).The effects of two causative markers on ZmVTE4 were validated by haplotype analysis.Finally,two elite cultivars(Yuetian 9 and Yuetian 22)with a 4.5-fold increase in the sum ofα-andγ-tocopherols were developed by marker-assisted selection,demonstrating the successful biofortification of sweet corn.Three genes(DAHPS,ADT2,and cmu2)involved in chorismate and tyrosine synthesis were significantly associated with theα/γ-tocotrienol ratio.These results shed light on the genetic architecture of vitamin E and may accelerate the nutritional improvement of sweet corn. | Yingni Xiao Yongtao Yu Gaoke Li Lihua Xie Xinbo Guo Jiansheng Li Yuliang Li Jianguang Hu | 2020 | The Crop Journal2020,8,2: | 7 |

| 18 | Use of SAR interferometry for monitoring illegal mining activities: A case study at Xishimen Iron Ore Mine显示文摘The development and application of the ''digital mine'' concept in China depends heavily upon the use of remote sensing data as well as domestic expertise and awareness. Illegal mining of mineral resources has been a serious long term problem frustrating the Xishimen Iron Ore Mine management. This mine is located in Wu'an county in Hebei province, China. Illegal activities have led to enormous economic losses by interfering with the normal operation of the Xishimen mine and have ruined the surrounding environ- ment and the stability of the Mahe riverbed the crosses the mined area. This paper is based on field recon- naissance taken over many years around the mine area. The ground survey data are integrated with Differential Synthetic Aperture Radar Interferometry (D-InSAR) results from ALOS/PALSAR data to pin- point mining locations. By investigating the relationship between the resulting interferometric deforma- tion pattern and the mining schedule, which is known a priori, areas affected by illegal mining activities are identified. To some extent these areas indicate the location of the illegal site. | 19 | Cretaceous Deepwater Lacustrine Dedimentary Sequences from the Northernmost South China Block, Qingdao, China显示文摘A sequence of terrigenous siliciclastic rocks crop out at Baxiandun, Qingdao, near the Mesozoic collisional boundary between North China block(NCB) and South China block(SCB). These low-grade metamorphosed siliciclastic rocks are dominated by greywacke with shale, manganiferous fine-grained sandstone, arkose and conglomerate layers. There are two basic interpretations about the formation of these rocks. One considered that this sequence was formed within NCB, and is part of the Cretaceous Laiyang Group and Qingshan Group fluvial facies and volcanic debris facies, as shown on the Shandong Regional Geological Map. Another opinion suggested that these rocks represent turbidity depositional systems in the slope and the basin facies was mainly deposited in Ordovician. Based on field observation, petrological analysis, and most importantly, geochemical results in this study, the sedimentary strata at Baxiandun Section mainly consist of siltstone, sandstone and mudstone lithologies. They are dominated by deepwater debris and turbidity deposits in the slope and base of a lake. The U-Pb detrital zircon dating of the rocks at the Baxiandun Section indicates that the source rocks are very complex and their ages are varied from Archean to Early Cretaceous. The youngest age of the terrigenous detritus could represent the age of the sedimentary strata.
