1Design and baseline data of a populationbased metabonomics study of eye diseases in eastern China: the Yueqing Ocular Diseases Investigation显示文摘Background:China is undergoing a massive transition toward an urban and industrial economy.These changes will restructure the demographics and economy which will eventually influence the future patterns of disease.The risk factors of vision-impairing eye diseases remain ambiguous and poorly understood.Metabolomics is an ideal tool to understand and shed light on the ocular disease mechanisms for earlier treatment.This article aims to describe the design,methodology and baseline data of the Yueqing Ocular Diseases Investigation(YODI),a developed county population-based study to determine the prevalence and primary causes of visual impairment;also with metabonomics analysis we aimed to identify,predict and suggest some preventive biomarkers that cause blindness.Methods:A population-based,cross-sectional study.Randomized clustering sampling was used to identify adults aged 50 years and older in Xiangyang Town,Yueqing county-level City.The interviews covered demographic,behavioral,ocular risk factors and mental health state.The ocular examination included visual acuity,autorefraction,intraocular pressure,anterior and posterior segment examinations,fundus photography,retinal tomography and angiography,and visual field testing.Anthropometric measurements included height and weight,waist and hip circumference,blood pressure,pulse rate,electrocardiogram,and abdominal ultrasound scan.A venous blood sample was collected for laboratory tests and metabonomics studies.Results:Of the 5319 individuals recruited for the YODI,4769(89.7%)subjects were enrolled for analyses.The median age was 62.0 years,and 45.6%were male.The educational level of illiteracy or semi-illiteracy,primary,middle and high school or above was 29.8%,45.5%,20.1%,and 3.3%,respectively.Majority of the participants were female,younger,and less educated when compared with nonparticipants.The average body mass index and waist-hip ratios were 24.4±3.4 kg/m^(2) and 0.9±0.1 respectively.Blood sample collection reached a sample size of 1909(479 from subjects with selfreported diabetes and 1430 from one-third of the 4290 subjects without self-reported diabetes).Conclusions:The YODI provides population-based data with a high response rate(89.7%)on the prevalence and primary causes of major vision-impairing eye diseases in developed county areas in eastern China.Metabonomics analysis from YODI will provide further association of metabolic characteristics with the visual impairment eye diseases.The risk prediction model could be created and has the potential to be generalized to developed eastern areas in China for prevention.Yuxuan Deng Yuanbo Liang Sigeng Lin Liang Wen Jin Li Yue Zhou Meixiao Shen Jingwei Zheng Kemi Feng Yanting Sun Kwapong Willaim Robert Jia Qu Fan Lu 2020Eye and Vision2020,7,1:4
2Biocompatibility of nano-hydroxyapatite/Mg-Zn-Ca alloy composite scaffolds to human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells from Wharton's jelly in vitro显示文摘Seeding cells and scaffolds play pivotal roles in bone tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.Wharton’s jelly-derived mesenchymal stem cells(WJCs)from human umbilical cord represent attractive and promising seeding cells in tissue regeneration and engineering for treatment applications.This study was carried out to explore the biocompatibility of scaffolds to seeding cells in vitro.Rod-like nano-hydroxyapatite(RN-HA)and flake-like micro-hydroxyapatite(FM-HA)coatings were prepared on Mg-Zn-Ca alloy substrates using micro-arc oxidation and electrochemical deposition.WJCs were utilized to investigate the cellular biocompatibility of Mg-Zn-Ca alloys after different surface modifications by observing the cell adhesion,morphology,proliferation,and osteoblastic differentiation.The in vitro results indicated that the RN-HA coating group was more suitable for cell proliferation and cell osteoblastic differentiation than the FM-HA group,demonstrating better biocompatibility.Our results suggested that the RN-HA coating on Mg-Zn-Ca alloy substrates might be of great potential in bone tissue engineering.GUAN FangXia MA ShanShan SHI XinYi MA Xun CHI LianKai LIANG Shuo CUI YuanBo WANG ZhiBin YAO Ning GUAN ShaoKang YANG Bo 2014Science China(Life Sciences)2014,57,2:4
3Evening exercise is associated with lower odds of visual field progression in Chinese patients with primary open angle glaucoma显示文摘Background:Exercise is widely known to lower intraocular pressure and increase ocular blood flow,which may be beneficial for glaucoma management.However,there are few studies that have reported on the relationship between exercise and glaucoma progression.The aim of our study was to investigate the exercise habits of those with primary open angle glaucoma(POAG)and its association with the progression of visual field(VF)loss.Methods:Daily physical activity(PA)was monitored by an accelerometer(ActiGraph wGT3x-BT)which patients wore for more than 10 h of being awake on their right wrists for 1 week.Results:Seventy-one non-progressive and 27 progressive patients were enrolled in the study.24-h moderate to vigorous physical activity(MVPA)exercise showed that POAG patients had similar variation trends consisting of 3 wave peaks and 2 wave hollows.Minutes spent in MVPA was 19.89±15.81 and 21.62±15.10 during 07:00–09:00 h(p=0.204),15.40±14.49 and 15.67±12.43 during 15:00–17:00 h(p=0.822)and 17.26±21.11 and 11.42±11.58 during 18:00–20:00 h(p=0.001)in the non-progressive and progressive group,respectively.Univariate analysis indicated that 10 min of MVPA(18:00–20:00 h)[odds ratio,OR(95%CI)=0.82(0.73,0.92)],average mean arterial pressure[OR(95%CI)=0.96(0.94,0.98)],age[OR(95%CI)=1.06(1.03,1.08)],male[OR(95%CI)=0.67(0.48,0.96)],spherical equivalent[OR(95%CI)=1.14(1.07,1.22)]and IOP-lowering medications[OR(95%CI)=1.54(1.16,2.05)]were significantly correlated with having progressive VF damage.Multivariable analysis showed that 10 min of MVPA(18:00–20:00 h)[OR(95%CI)=0.85(0.75,0.97)]was associated with progressive VF loss even after adjusting for other risk factors.Conclusions:Evening exercise may lower the odds of VF progression,suggesting that exercise habits possibly play an important role in glaucoma progression.Xiafei Pan Kai Xu Xin Wang Guofu Chen Huanhuan Cheng Alice Jia Liu Laurence Tang Hou Lin Zhong Jie Chen Yuanbo Liang 2020Eye and Vision2020,7,1:2

6Effect of plum-blossom needling versus tropicamide eye drops on adolescent myopia: protocol for a randomized crossover trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE: Myopia is the most common eye problem and affects an estimated 28.3% of the global population. Its incidence is increasing annually. Myopia treatment is limited to correcting visual acuity.Acupuncture is one of the main therapies in traditional Chinese medicine and includes plum-blossom needling, which has been widely used forboth the prevention and treatment of adolescent myopia. We hypothesized that plum-blossom needling would be effective in treating myopia compared with a tropicamide eye drops control.METHODS: This is a crossover randomized controlled trial involving adolescents with myopia. Participants will be randomized 1∶1 to plum-blossom needle or tropicamide eye drops arms. Subjects in each arm will be treated for 20 d, followed by a 1-month washout period and treatment change for another 20 d. The primary outcome is uncorrected distance and cycloplegic refractive errors. The secondary outcomes comprise corneal curvature, lens thickness, axial length, ciliary body thickness, accommodation amplitude, the NRA/PRA(negative/positive relative accommodation), flexible adjustment, and near point of convergence. 10Extraction of straight field roads between farmlands based on agricultural vehicle-mounted LiDAR显示文摘The application of autonomous agricultural vehicles is gaining popularity as a way to increase production efficiency and lower operational costs.To achieve high performance,perception tasks(such as obstacle detection,road extraction,and drivable area extraction)are of great importance.Compared with structured roads,field roads between farmlands,including unstructured roads and semi-structured roads,are unfavorable for autonomous agricultural vehicle driving due to their bumpiness and unstructured nature.This study proposed an extraction method for the straight field roads between farmlands.The proposed method was based on the point cloud data acquired by LiDAR(Velodyne VLP-16)mounted on a John Deere 12046B-1204 tractor.The proposed method has three aspects:Euclidean Clustering-based extraction,boundary-based extraction,and road point cloud curve segment modification.Firstly,Euclidean Clustering with K-Dimensional(KD)-Tree data structure was adopted to extract the road curve segments close to the LiDAR composed of road points.Secondly,the boundary lines constraint was constructed to extract the distant road curve segments.Thirdly,the local distance ratio was used to modify the extracted road curve segments.The average extraction accuracy for both semi-structured and unstructured roads exceeded 98%,and the false positive rate(FPR)was less than 0.5%.These experimental findings demonstrated that the proposed road extraction method was precise and effective.The proposed method of this study can be applied to enhance the perception ability of autonomous agricultural vehicles thereby increasing the efficiency and safety of field road driving.Lili Yang Yuanyuan Xu Yajie Liang Jia Qin Yuanbo Li Xinxin Wang Weixin Zhai Long Wen Zhibo Chen Caicong Wu 2022International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2022,15,5:1
11Computational multiscale methods for granular materials显示文摘The fine-scale heterogeneity of granular material is characterized by its polydisperse microstructure with randomness and no periodicity. To predict the mechanical response of the material as the microstructure evolves, it is demonstrated to develop computational multiscale methods using discrete particle assembly-Cosserat continuum modeling in micro- and macro- scales, respectively. The computational homogenization method and the bridge scale method along the concurrent scale linking approach are briefly introduced. Based on the weak form of the Hu-Washizu variational principle, the mixed finite element procedure of gradient Cosserat continuum in the frame of the second-order homogenization scheme is developed. 12Design of imaging system for CSNS near-target beam diagnostics显示文摘Introduction China Spallation Neutron Source(CSNS)is an accelerator-based pulsed neutron source which produces neutron with spallation reaction induced by proton bombarding tungsten target.With increasing beam powers and influences on target,near-target monitoring becomes extreme necessary.In this situation,an optical imaging system for proton beam diagnostics and monitoring near the target is being developed at CSNS,which can provide real-time images of the beam on target and beam distribution information.Target imaging system design and development In the design of CSNS target imaging system,coating of Cr^(3+):Al_(2)O_(3) is used to convert particle radiation into emission light.According to the geometry limits of CSNS target station,a special optical system was designed and fabricated to collect the emission light.When the proton beams strike on the target,the coating on the target will be excited,emitting luminescence at the same time.The mirrors and lenses of the optical system image the distribution of emission light into a radiation-hard imaging fiber,which transmits the images to the GigE camera located at low-dose area outside of the target station.Software was written on the LabView platform to control the camera and analyze the images on line.Mock-up of the imaging system was manufactured to test and evaluate the performances of the system.Some important characteristics of the system were obtained and studied.Conclusion Tests on the mock-up of the system present reliably expectation for beam diagnostics.The imaging system has been installed at CSNS recently.More work will be continued to improve the properties of the system.Zhirong Zeng Shanhua Zhang Weilin Cheng Quanzhi Yu Shaohong Wei Bin Zhou Donghui Zhu Quan Ji Aijun Zeng Tianjiao Liang Yuanbo Chen 2018Radiation Detection Technology and Methods2018,2,2:0
13Analysis of effects of front and back surface dopants on silicon vertical multi-junction solar cell by 2D numerical simulation显示文摘The silicon vertical multi-junction(VMJ)solar cell has a good potential in high concentration,but it requires high quality front and back surface passivation layers to keep its high efficiency.We try to add dopants into the front and back surfaces of the VMJ cell to release this strict requirement in this work.The effects of recombination velocities,doping types and doping profiles of front and back surfaces on the performance of the P-type VMJ cell were calculated under 1 sun and 1000 suns.The 2D numerical simulation tool TCAD software was used.The performance of the VMJ cell without front and back surface dopants was also calculated for comparison.It was found that the requirement of high quality front and back surface passivation layers could be released remarkably by adding either N-type or P+-type front and back surface dopants.For the two types of front surface dopants,the highest efficiencies of the cells were got by light dopant;for the two types of back surface dopants,the doping type and profile affected little on the performance of the cell in our calculation range.It was also found that the series resistance of the VMJ cell with N-type front surface dopant was decreased by the 2D effect of front surface emitter.The VMJ cell with P+-type front surface dopant had the highest efficiency under 1000 suns and the VMJ cell with N-type front surface dopant had the highest efficiency under 1 sun in our calculation range.XING YuPeng HAN PeiDe WANG Shuai LIANG Peng LOU ShiShu ZHANG YuanBo HU ShaoXu ZHU HuiShi MI YanHong ZHAO ChunHua 2013Science China(Technological Sciences)2013,56,11:0

15Measurements and characteristics of Al_(2)O_(3):Cr^(3+) coating for the proton beam imaging system显示文摘Introduction To set up an online proton beam diagnostic system near the neutron production target of China Spallation Neutron Source(CSNS),a luminescence coating sprayed on the target windowand a corresponding optic system were fabricated.In the work,the fabrication of Al_(2)O_(3):Cr^(3+) coating was explored.Measurements on the sprayed samples were performed to analyze the characteristics of the Al_(2)O_(3):Cr^(3+) coating.Fabrication and tests of coating samples Three kinds of powders with different Cr concentrations were used to fabricate the luminescence coating samples.The flame spraying,plasma spraying and D-gun spraying processes were explored.Photoluminescence(PL),X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanned electron mirror(SEM)and radioluminescence experiment by 300 MeV deuterium beam were carried out to analyze and characterize the samples.Results The emission spectrum excited by 532-nm laser has two obvious peaks at 692.9 nm and 694.3 nm.The samples by flame spraying process with the powders obtained from melting method show higher luminescence intensity than the samples by plasma spraying process.It is observed that the luminescence intensity has some relationships with the alpha phase in the samples,which is deduced from the XRD and photoluminescence tests results.A lower temperature during the flame spraying process will help to keep more alpha phase in the material.The selected four samples show successful fluoresced results in the radioluminescence experiment.Conclusions The luminescence intensity of the coating is improved greatly by the studies on the fabrication process and the characteristics of the samples.The luminescence coating used in beam diagnostics will be fabricated by the confirmed technical process.More works will be continued to improve the characteristics of the luminescence light by controlling Cr concentration and annealing in 1200∼2000℃ environment in the future.Zhirong Zeng Quanzhi Yu Shaohong Wei Bin Zhou Quan Ji Tianjiao Liang Yuanbo Chen 2017Radiation Detection Technology and Methods2017,1,1:0
16Optical engineering of infrared PbS CQD photovoltaic cells for wireless optical power transfer systems显示文摘Infrared photovoltaic cells(IRPCs)have attracted considerable attention for potential applications in wireless optical power transfer(WOPT)systems.As an efcient fber-integrated WOPT system typically uses a 1550 nm laser beam,it is essential to tune the peak conversion efciency of IRPCs to this wavelength.However,IRPCs based on lead sulfde(PbS)colloidal quantum dots(CQDs)with an excitonic peak of 1550 nm exhibit low short circuit current(Jsc)due to insufcient absorption under monochromatic light illumination.Here,we propose comprehensive optical engineering to optimize the device structure of IRPCs based on PbS CQDs,for 1550 nm WOPT systems.The absorption by the device is enhanced by improving the transmittance of tin-doped indium oxide(ITO)in the infrared region and by utilizing the optical resonance efect in the device.Therefore,the optimized device exhibited a high short circuit current density of 37.65 mA/cm^(2)under 1 sun(AM 1.5G)solar illumination and 11.91 mA/cm^(2)under 1550 nm illumination 17.3 mW/cm^(2).Furthermore,the champion device achieved a record high power conversion efciency(PCE)of 7.17%under 1 sun illumination and 10.29%under 1550 nm illumination.The PbS CQDs IRPCs under 1550 nm illumination can even light up a liquid crystal display(LCD),demonstrating application prospects in the future.Mengqiong Zhu Yuanbo Zhang Shuaicheng Lu Zijun Wang Junbing Zhou Wenkai Ma Ruinan Zhu Guanyuan Chen Jianbing Zhang Liang Gao Jiancan Yu Pingqi Gao Jiang Tang 2023Frontiers of Optoelectronics2023,16,2:0
