1Experimental study on flow characteristics of tetrahydrofuran hydrate slurry in pipelines显示文摘Tetrahydrofuran(THF) was selected as the substitute to study the flow behaviors and the mechanism of the hydrates blockage in pipelines.The slurrylike hydrates and slushlike hydrates are observed with the formation of hydrates in pipeline.There is a critical hydrate volume concentration of 50.6% for THF slurries and pipeline will be free of hydrate blockage while the hydrate volume concentration is lower than the critical volume concentration;otherwise,pipeline will be easy to be blocked.Fully turbulent flow occurs and friction factors tend to be constant when the velocity reaches 1.5 m/s.And then,constant values of friction factors that depend on the volume concentrations in the slurry were regressed to estimate the pressure drops of THF hydrate slurry at large mean velocity.Finally,a safe region,defined according to the critical hydrate volume concentration,was proposed for THF hydrate slurry,which may provide some insight for further studying the natural gas hydrate slurries and judge whether the pipeline can be run safely or not.Wuchang Wang Shuanshi Fan Deqing Liang Yuxing Li 2010Journal of Natural Gas Chemistry2010,19,3:26
2BMP-IHH-mediated interplay between mesenchymal stem cells and osteoclasts supports calvarial bone homeostasis and repair显示文摘Calvarial bones are connected by fibrous sutures. These sutures provide a niche environment that includes mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs), osteoblasts, and osteoclasts, which help maintain calvarial bone homeostasis and repair. Abnormal function of osteogenic cells or diminished MSCs within the cranial suture can lead to skull defects, such as craniosynostosis. Despite the important function of each of these cell types within the cranial suture, we have limited knowledge about the role that crosstalk between them may play in regulating calvarial bone homeostasis and injury repair. Here we show that suture MSCs give rise to osteoprogenitors that show active bone morphogenetic protein(BMP) signalling and depend on BMP-mediated Indian hedgehog(IHH) signalling to balance osteogenesis and osteoclastogenesis activity. IHH signalling and receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa-Β ligand(RANKL) may function synergistically to promote the differentiation and resorption activity of osteoclasts. Loss of Bmpr1a in MSCs leads to downregulation of hedgehog(Hh) signalling and diminished cranial sutures. Significantly, activation of Hh signalling partially restores suture morphology in Bmpr1a mutant mice, suggesting the functional importance of BMP-mediated Hh signalling in regulating suture tissue homeostasis. Furthermore, there is an increased number of CD200+ cells in Bmpr1a mutant mice, which may also contribute to the inhibited osteoclast activity in the sutures of mutant mice. Finally, suture MSCs require BMPmediated Hh signalling during the repair of calvarial bone defects after injury. 3A model for estimating flow assurance of hydrate slurry in pipelines显示文摘The problem of hydrate blockage of pipelines in offshore production is becoming ever-increasing severe because oil fields in ever-increasing unusual environments have been brought in production.HCFC-141b and THF were selected as the substitutes to study the flow assurance of the hydrates in pipelines.There are critical hydrate volume concentrations for these two slurries.Hydrate slurries behave like Bingham fluids and have high agglomerating tendency when the hydrate volume concentrations are larger than the critical ones.Based on rheological behaviors of these two hydrates,a non-dimensional parameter is proposed through studying the driving forces of agglomeration among hydrate particles,which shows the agglomerating probability of hydrate particles in pipeline and can be used to judge the safety of the pipeline.Moreover,a safe model to judge the safely flow hydrate slurries was presented and verified with the experimental data,which demonstrates that the model is effective to judge whether the pipeline can be run safely or not.Wuchang Wang Shuanshi Fan Deqing Liang Yuxing Li 2010Journal of Natural Gas Chemistry2010,19,4:10

5Hydrate agglomeration modeling and pipeline hydrate slurry flow behavior simulation显示文摘Dynamic modeling and numerical simulation of hydrate slurry flow behavior are of great importance to offshore hydrate management.For this purpose, a dynamic model of hydrate agglomeration was proposed in this paper.Based on population balance equation, the frame of the dynamic model was established first, which took both hydrate agglomeration and hydrate breakage into consideration.Then, the calculating methods of four key parameters involved in the dynamic model were given according to hydrate agglomeration dynamics.The four key parameters are collision frequency, agglomeration efficiency, breakage frequency and the size distribution of sub particles resulting from particle breakage.After the whole dynamic model was built, it was combined with several traditional solid–liquid flow models and then together solved by the CFD software FLUENT 14.5.Finally, using this method, the influences of flow rate and hydrate volume fraction on hydrate particle size distribution, hydrate volume concentration distribution and pipeline pressure drop were simulated and analyzed.Guangchun Song Yuxing Li Wuchang Wang Kai Jiang Zhengzhuo Shi Shupeng Yao 2019Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2019,27,1:6
6A scalable code dissemination protocol in heterogeneous wireless sensor networks显示文摘Code dissemination is currently a major research issue in wireless sensor networks (WSNs).Many studies focus on code dissemination in homogeneous WSNs,mainly using a broadcast approach to solve this problem;few studies on code dissemination in heterogeneous WSNs.Furthermore,broadcasting cannot readily be used to solve the heterogenous WSN code dissemination problem directly,which is where we have focused our attention.We transformed this problem into a minimum non-leaf nodes (MNN) Steiner tree problem.We designed a scalable multicast protocol,named Heterogeneous Sensor Networks Scalable Reprogramming Protocol (HSR) to solve the MNN problem.HSR can build different multicast trees according to different nodes or code modules to disseminate different codes to them.HSR is able to approximate the MNN tree problem to a ratio of ln|R| (R is the set of all destinations) best known lowest bound.Therefore,the communication cost is significantly decreased and the total energy required by WSNs is reduced.We further designed two scalable schemes,special routing log and hops-restricted local broadcast,which compress the multicast tree information and deliver the multicast messages without loss.We also designed a 3-stage pipeline to speed up the transmission of packets,which alleviated interference and hidden terminal issues.We evaluated our design through comprehensive simulations and prototype implementations on Mica2 motes.Experimental results demonstrate that HSR outperforms previous protocols including the most recent studies on Sprinkler and uCast.PENG ShaoLiang LI ShanShan LIAO XiangKe PENG YuXing XIAO Nong 2012Science China(Information Sciences)2012,55,6:5
7Effects of sulfide on sulfate reducing bacteria in response to Cu(II), Hg(II) and Cr(VI) toxicity显示文摘Sulfate reducing bacteria (SRB) is identified as the primary organisms responsible for the treatment of heavy metal wastewater. However, most heavy metals can inhibit the growth of SRB during heavy metal treatment processes. Sulfide is a metabolic product of SRB and it can precipitate or reduce heavy metals. This study focused on the effects of sulfide on SRB resistance to Cu(II), Hg(I) and Cr(VI) toxicity. First, we considered the existence style of various heavy metals with and without sulfide addition by sequential extraction experiments. Second, the particle size distribution was evaluated and the cell structure during the metabolism of a SRB culture, containing different heavy metals, was analyzed by particle size distribution and TEM analyses. Third, the evolution of sulfate under the influence of different concentrations of heavy metals with and without sulfide addition was investigated to evaluate SRB activity. The results indicated that sulfide played an important role in alleviating and even eliminating the toxicity of Cu(II), Hg(II) and Cr(VI). 875-femtosecond all-fiber ultrashort pulse laser显示文摘We report the direct generation of 75-femosecond pulses from a stretched-pulse fiber ring laser using the nonlinear polarization rotation mode-locking mechanism. As the gain media in the laser,the high-doped erbium-doped fiber working at positive dispersion was used to compensate the negative dispersion of standard single mode fiber. Under a 125 mW pump power,the average output power was higher than 15 mW,with a 25.9 MHz repetition rate and 53 nm spectrum width. Meanwhile,the pulse energy was greatly improved,which could reach 0.6 nJ. The laser easily achieved mode-locking and ran stably at room temperature. 9Large delay tunable slow-light based on high-gain stimulated-Brillouin-scattering amplification in optical fibers显示文摘Tunable stimulated-Brillouin-scattering (SBS)-based slow-light in optical fibers has potential applications in optical buffering in the future all-optical router commutation systems. However, due to the low SBS threshold and relatively high realistic signal power, the gain in the usual SBS systems is limited at^30 dB. This paper presents a high-gain SBS scheme to realize large delay slow-light, which benefits from avoiding the depletion of the pump power in a short fiber as SBS media. The experiment demonstrates that, up to 50 dB non-saturated gain has been observed in the single-stage 591.8 m fiber SBS amplification. 10Extensive Inter-plant Protein Transfer between Cuscuta Parasites and Their Host Plants显示文摘Cuscuta species(dodders)are holoparasites that totally rely on host plants to survive.Although various mobile proteins have been identified to travel within a plant,whether and to what extent protein transfer between Cuscuta and host plants remain unclear.We found that hundreds to more than 1500 proteins were transferred between Cuscuta and the host plants Arabidopsis and soybean,and hundreds of interplant mobile proteins were even detected in the seeds of Cuscuta and the host soybean.Different hosts bridge-connected by dodder were also found to exchange hundreds of proteins.Quantitatively,the mobile proteins represent a few to more than 10%of the proteomes of foreign plants.Using Arabidopsis plants expressing different reporter proteins,we further showed that these reporter proteins could travel between plants and,importantly,retained their activity in the foreign plants.Comparative analysis between the interplant mobile proteins and mRNAs indicated that the majority of mobile proteins were not de novo synthesized from the translocated mRNAs,but bona fide mobile proteins.We propose that large-scale inter-plant protein translocation may play an important role in the interactions between host plants and dodder and even among the dodder bridge-connected hosts.Nian Liu Guojing Shen Yuxing Xu Hui Liu Jingxiong Zhang Shalan Li Jing Li Cuiping Zhang Jinfeng Qi Lei Wang Jianqiang Wu 2020Molecular Plant2020,13,4:3
113D printing of hydroxyapatite/tricalcium phosphate scaffold with hierarchical porous structure for bone regeneration显示文摘Three-dimensional(3D)-printed scaffolds have attracted considerable attention in recent years as they provide a suitable environment for bone cell tissue regeneration and can be customized in shape.Among many other challenges,the material composition and geometric structure have major impacts on the performance of scaffolds.Hydroxyapatite and tricalcium phosphate(HA/TCP),as the major constituents of natural bone and teeth,possess attractive biological properties and are widely used in bone scaffold fabrication.Many fabrication methods have been investigated in attempts to achieve HA/TCP scaffolds with microporous structure enabling cell growth and nutrient transport.However,current 3D printing methods can only achieve the fabrication of HA/TCP scaffolds with certain range of microporous structure.To overcome this challenge,we developed a slurry-based microscale mask image projection stereolithography,allowing us to form a HA/TCP-based photocurable suspension with complex geometry including biomimetic features and hierarchical porosity.Here,the curing performance and physical properties of the HA/TCP suspension were investigated,and a circular movement process for the fabrication of highly viscous HA/TCP suspension was developed.Based on these investigations,the scaffold composition was optimized.We determined that a 30 wt%HA/TCP scaffold with biomimetic hierarchical structure exhibited superior mechanical properties and porosity.Cell proliferation was investigated in vitro,and the surgery was conducted in a nude mouse in vivo model of long bone with cranial neural crest cells and bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells.The results showed our 3D-printed HA/TCP scaffold with biomimetic hierarchical structure is biocompatible and has sufficient mechanical strength for surgery.Xiangjia Li Yuan Yuan Luyang Liu Yuen‑Shan Leung Yiyu Chen Yuxing Guo Yang Chai Yong Chen 2020Bio-Design and Manufacturing2020,3,1:3

16TIR/BB-loop mimetic AS-1 protects vascular endothelial cells from injury induced by hypoxia/reoxygenation显示文摘Morphological and functional abnormalities of vascular endothelial cells(VECs) are risk factors of ischemiareperfusion in skin flaps.Signaling pathway mediated by interleukin-1 receptor(IL-1 R) is essential to hypoxia/reoxygenation(H/R) injury of VECs.While the TIR/BB-loop mimetic(AS-1) disrupts the interaction between IL-1 R and myeloid differentiation primary-response protein 88(MyD88),its role in the VECs dysfunction under H/R is unclear.In this study,we first showed that there was an infiltration of inflammatory cells and the apoptosis of VECs by using a skin flap section from patients who received flap transplantation.We then showed that the H/R treatment induced apoptosis and loss of cell migration of endothelial cell line H926 were attenuated by AS-1.Furthermore,our data suggested that AS-1 inhibits the interaction between IL-1 R and MyD88,and subsequent phosphorylation of IκB and p38 pathway,as well as the nuclear localization of NF-κB subunit p65/p50.Thus,this study indicated that the protective role of AS-1 in H/R induced cellular injury may be due to the AS-1 mediated down-regulation of IL-1 R signaling pathway.Zhijia Zhang Yuxing Hou Jiantao Li Chao Tang Linli Que Qian Tan Yuehua Li 2020The Journal of Biomedical Research2020,34,5:2
17Orchestrated cellular,biochemical,and biomechanical optimizations endow platelet-rich plasma-based engineered cartilage with structural and biomechanical recovery显示文摘Recently,biomaterials for cartilage regeneration has been intensively investigated.However,the development of scaffolds that capture regenerated cartilage with biomechanical and structural recovery has rarely been reported.To address this challenge,platelet-rich plasma(PRP)-based cartilage constructs with a well-orchestrated symphony of cellular,biochemical and biomechanical elements were prepared by simultaneously employing chondrogenic progenitor cells(CPCs)as a cell source,optimizing platelet concentration,and adding an enzyme-ion activator.It was shown that this triple-optimized PRP+CPC construct possessed increased biomechanical properties and suitable biochemical signals.The following in vitro study demonstrated that the triple-optimized PRP+CPC constructs generated cartilage-like tissue with higher expression levels of chondrogenic-specific markers,more deposition of cartilage-specific extracellular matrix(ECM),and greater biomechanical values than those of the other constructs.Twelve weeks after the construct was implanted in a cartilage defect in vivo,histological analysis,qPCR,and biomechanical tests collectively showed that the triple-optimized constructs yielded a more chondrocyte-like cell phenotype with a higher synthesis of Col-Ⅱand aggrecan.More importantly,the triple-optimized constructs facilitated cartilage regeneration with better biomechanical recovery than that of the other constructs.These results demonstrate the efficacy of the triple-optimization strategy and highlight the simplicity and potency of this PRP+CPC construct for cartilage regeneration.Ketao Wang Ji Li Yuxing Wang Yaqiang Wang Yuanyuan Qin Fei Yang Mingzhu Zhang Heng Zhu Zhongli Li 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,11:2
18Effects of cerium salts on corrosion behaviors of Si–Zr hybrid sol–gel coatings显示文摘The present work examines the effects of cerium salts on corrosion behaviors of Si–Zr hybrid sol–gel coatings. The Si–Zr hybrid sol–gel coatings on a 2A12 aluminum substrate were prepared through hydrolysis and condensation of glycidoxypropyl-trimethoxy-silane(GTMS) and zirconium(IV) n-propoxide(TPOZ). Used as inhibitors for corrosion, three types of cerium salts(Ce(NO_3)_3, CeCl_3, and Ce(CH_3COO)_3) were doped into the sol–gel coatings. Fourier transform infrared(FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM) were employed to investigate the structures and morphologies of various coatings, and the corrosion resistances of the coatings were evaluated by electrochemical methods and neutral salt spray tests. Experimental results indicate that the addition of cerium salts can hinder the process of corrosion due to their self-healing abilities. 19Anti-hypertensive and endothelia protective effects of Fufang Qima capsule(复方芪麻胶囊) on primary hypertension via adiponectin/adenosine monophosphate activated protein kinase pathway显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To investigate the potential mechanism of the vascular remodeling effect and provide additional information about anti-hypertension activity of Fufang Qima capsule(复方芪麻胶囊,QM).METHODS:Spontaneous hypertensive rats(SHRs)were used to study the underlying mechanism of the anti-hypertension activity of QM.In this study,SHRs were randomly divided into 5 groups:model group,Telmisartan group(7.2 mg/kg,p.o.),and three QM groups(0.9298,1.8596,and 3.7192 g/kg,p.o.).Wistar Kyoto rats(WKY)were used as normal control group.Blood pressure(BP),aorta,perivascular adipose tissue(PVAT)histology were investigated to evaluate the effect of QM.Nitric oxide(NO)and endothelial nitric oxide synthase(eNOS)phosphorylation were measured.Adiponectin(APN)secretion,as well as APN signal pathway proteins including APN,adiponectin receptors(R1 and R2)and adenosine 5’-monophosphate-activated protein kinase(AMPK)were all analyzed.RESULTS:QM significantly reduced BP and ameliorated the vascular pathological change,i.e.intima media thicken and collagen fiber hyperplasia.Meanwhile,QM increased concentration of NO and the phosphorylation of eNOS in the aorta.The anti-hypertensive and endothelia-protective effect of QM could be attributed to activating APN/AMPK pathway by up-regulating the expression of APN in PVAT and APN Receptor 2,AMPKαand phosphorylated AMPKαin the aorta.CONCLUSION:The QM alleviation effect mechanism for primary hypertension was via modulating the APN/AMPK signal pathway.ZHAO Zhiyue SHI Zhenyu ZHANG Zhenzhen LI Yinghong ZENG Xiaohui CHEN Yuxing YAO Nan ZHOU Min SU Hui WANG Qinghai JIN LiLi 2021Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2021,41,6:2
20Superscalar communication: A runtime optimization for distributed applications显示文摘Building distributed applications is difficult mostly because of concurrency management. Existing approaches primarily include events and threads. Researchers and developers have been debating for decades to prove which is superior. Although the conclusion is far from obvious, this long debate clearly shows that neither of them is perfect. One of the problems is that they are both complex and error-prone. Both events and threads need the programmers to explicitly manage concurrencies, and we believe it is just the source of difficulties. In this paper, we propose a novel approach—superscalar communication, in which concurrencies are automatically managed by the runtime system. It dynamically analyzes the programs to discover potential concurrency opportunities; and it dynamically schedules the communication and the computation tasks, resulting in automatic concurrent execution. This approach is inspired by the idea of superscalar technology in modern microprocessors, which dynamically exploits instruction-level parallelism. However, hardware superscalar algorithms do not fit software in many aspects, thus we have to design a new scheme completely from scratch. Superscalar communication is a runtime extension with no modification to the language, compiler or byte code, so it is good at backward compatibility.
