Experimental investigation on the energy evolution of dry and water-saturated red sandstones显示文摘In order to investigate the effect of water content on the energy evolution of red sandstone, the axial loading–unloading experiments on dry and water-saturated sandstone samples were conducted, and the distribution and evolution of elastic energy and dissipated energy within the rock were measured. The results show that the saturation process from dry to fully-saturated states reduces the strength, rigidity and brittleness of the rock by 30.2%, 25.5% and 16.7%, respectively. The water-saturated sample has larger irreversible deformation in the pre-peak stage and smaller stress drop in the post-peak stage. The saturation process decreases the accumulation energy limit by 38.9%, but increases the dissipated energy and residual elastic energy density, thus greatly reducing the magnitude and rate of energy release. The water-saturated sample has lower conversion efficiency to elastic energy by 3% in the prepeak region; moreover, the elastic energy ratio falls with a smaller range in the post-peak stage. Therefore, saturation process can greatly reduce the risk of dynamic disaster, and heterogeneous water content can lead to dynamic disaster possibly on the other hand.Zhang Zhizhen Gao Feng 2015International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2015,25,3:22

Research on the energy evolution characteristics and the failure intensity of rocks显示文摘It is pretty challenging and difficult to quantitatively evaluate the intensity of dynamic disasters in deep mining engineering.Based on the uniaxial loading-unloading experiments for five types of rocks, this paper investigated the energy evolution characteristics, and identified the damage and crack propagation thresholds. Also, the fragment size distributions of the rocks after failure were analyzed. The energy release rate(Ge)and energy dissipation rate(Gd)were then proposed to describe the change of energies per unit volume and per unit strain. Results demonstrated that the more brittle rocks had the shorter stage of unstable crack growth and the lower induced damage at crack damage thresholds. The evolution characteristics of the strain energy rates can be easily identified by the crack propagation thresholds. The failure intensity index(FId),which equals to the values of Ge/Gd at the failure point, was further put forth. It can account for the brittleness of the rocks, the intensity of rock failure as well as the degree of rock fragmentation. It was revealed that a higher FId corresponded to a lower fractal dimension and stronger dynamic failure.Lin Gao Feng Gao Zhizhen Zhang Yan Xing 2020International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2020,30,5:13
Thermo-hydro-mechanical coupled mathematical model for controlling the pre-mining coal seam gas extraction with slotted boreholes显示文摘Drainage influence radius is the basic parameter for borehole arrangement, while the effect of high pressure water jet slotting technology on borehole drainage influence radius has not been studied systematically. In this paper, a fully thermo-hydro-mechanical(THM) coupled model which represents the non-linear responses of gas extraction was implemented to demonstrate the reliability of this model through history data matching. Based on this model, the susceptibilities of gas extraction with single slotted borehole, including the permeability, the gas pressure, the temperature, the coal adsorption characteristics and the radius of slot, were quantified through a series of simulations. The simulation results revealed that increasing the permeability, initial gas pressure and temperature could develop the influence radius of single slotted borehole. This finite element model and its simulation results can improve the understanding of the coal-gas interactions of underground gas drainage and provide a scientific basis for the optimization of drainage systems.Xue Yi Gao Feng Gao Yanan Liang Xin Zhang Zhizhen Xing Yan 2017International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2017,27,3:10
Effect of the layer orientation on mechanics and energy evolution characteristics of shales under uniaxial loading显示文摘The uniaxial compression tests were conducted on the cylindrical shale specimens with bedding plane inclined at 0° and 90° to the axial loading direction, respectively. Effect of the bedding orientation on the mechanical property and energy evolution characteristics of shales was revealed. The failure mechanisms of the specimens with layers in 0° orientation showed splitting failure along weak bedding, while the specimens with layers in 90° orientation were failed by shearing sliding. The values of compressive strength, elastic modulus and shear modulus of samples at 0° were higher than those of samples at 90°and there was little difference of Poisson's ratio between samples at 0° and 90°. The analysis of the stress–strain energy and acoustic emission(AE) energy indicated that the growth rate of absorbed energy density and elastic energy density at 0° was significantly faster than that at 90°, hence their final values at 0°were relatively larger than the latter. Moreover, higher energy release was observed for specimens at 0°.The energy release and rapid growth of energy dissipation also appeared more early at 0°. The stress ratio63% was a critical point of energy distribution at which differences started to arise between samples at 0°and 90°. These results indicated that the failure of shale at 0° was more violent and devastative than the failure of shale at 90°.Hou Peng Gao Feng Yang Yugui Zhang Xiangxiang Zhang Zhizhen 2016International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2016,26,5:9
Visco-elastic-plastic model of deep underground rock affected by temperature and humidity显示文摘As the depth of exploitation increases, studies on constitutive models of rock affected by temperature and humidity become very important.Based on the Nishihara model,a visco-elastic-plastic rock model was established by using the coefficients of thermal and humidity expansion, thermal viscosity attenuation, humid viscosity attenuation and acceleration rheology components. We used the definition of a controlled heat circle to explain the model. The results show that the behavior of rock, affected by temperature and humidity,is stable as a function of time when the stress is lower than the first yield stress σS1;the creep rate will increase due to the effect of temperature and humidity when the stress is greater than or equal to σS1;the creep rate will accelerate at an increasing rate when the stress is greater than or equal to the second yield stress σS2,which results in a failure of the roadway. The model derived in this study can completely describe visco-elastic-plastic characteristics and reflects the three stages of rock creep.GAO, Yanan GAO, Feng ZHANG, Zhizhen ZHANG, Tao 2010Mining Science and Technology2010,20,2:9
Antihyperuricemic effect of mangiferin aglycon derivative J99745 by inhibiting xanthine oxidase activity and urate transporter 1 expression in mice显示文摘A mangiferin aglycon derivative J99745 has been identified as a potent xanthine oxidase(XOD) inhibitor by previous in vitro study. This study aimed to evaluate the hypouricemic effects of J99745 in experimental hyperuricemia mice, and explore the underlying mechanisms. Mice were orally administered 600 mg/kg xanthine once daily for 7 days and intraperitoneally injected 250 mg/kg oxonic acid on the 7 th day to induce hyperuricemia. Meanwhile, J99745(3, 10, and 30 mg/kg), allopurinol(20 mg/kg) or benzbromarone(20 mg/kg) were orally administered to mice for 7 days. On the 7 th day, uric acid and creatinine in serum and urine, blood urea nitrogen(BUN), malondialdehyde(MDA) content and XOD activities in serum and liver were determined. Morphological changes in kidney were observed using hematoxylin and eosin(H&E) staining. Hepatic XOD, renal urate transporter 1(URAT1), glucose transporter type 9(GLUT9), organic anion transporter 1(OAT1) and ATP-binding cassette transporter G2(ABCG2) were detected by Western blot and real time polymerase chain reaction(PCR). The results showed that J99745 at doses of 10 and 30 mg/kg significantly reduced serum urate, and enhanced fractional excretion of uric acid(FEUA). H&E staining confirmed that J99745 provided greater nephroprotective effects than allopurinol and benzbromarone. Moreover, serum and hepatic XOD activities and renal URAT1 expression declined in J99745-treated hyperuricemia mice. In consistence with the ability to inhibit XOD, J99745 lowered serum MDA content in hyperuricemia mice. Our resultssuggest that J99745 exerts urate-lowering effect by inhibiting XOD activity and URAT1 expression, thus representing a promising candidate as an anti-hyperuricemia agent.Zhizhen Qin Shoubao Wang Yihuang Lin Ying Zhao Shengqian Yang Junke Song Tao Xie Jinlong Tian Song Wu Guanhua Du 2018Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2018,8,2:9
A secret key distribution technique based on semiconductor superlattice chaos devices显示文摘Key distribution is one of the most important and often also the most difficult parts in cryptography[1].In symmetric key cryptography, both of the sender and the recipient must share the same secure key for successful communication.Traditionally key distribution is achieved by establishing a separate‘‘secure channel'.The‘‘secure channel'can be a specially-built communication link,Wei Liu Zhizhen Yin Xiaoming Chen Zhenyun Peng Helun Song Peihua Liu Xinhai Tong Yaohui Zhang 2018Science Bulletin2018,63,16:7

Possible mechanism underlying analgesic effect of Tuina in rats may involve piezo mechanosensitive channels within dorsal root ganglia axon显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To demonstrate the analgesic effect of Tuina mainly from mechanically sensitive ion channels in peripheral myelinated nerve fibers.METHODS: A total of 40 healthy and pathogen-free adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were used in the study [weight:(220.0 ± 1.4) g, Shanghai Slac Laboratory Animal Co., Ltd., Shanghai, China; license No. Shanghai ICP 05033115]. The rats were housed in cages with free access to water and food in a temperature-controlled room [(22 ± 1) ℃] and12-h/12-h light-dark cycle. Thirty-two rats were randomly divided into five groups: naive, sham, chronic compression of dorsal root ganglion(CCD), Tuina(7 d) and Tuina(21 d). CCD rat model was established via unilateral DRG compression by'L'liked steel bar. Chinese Tuina treatment was accepted once per day. Behavior monitoring of paw withdrawal threshold(PWT) and paw withdrawal latency(PWL) were tested. The expression of Piezo1 and Piezo2 in myelinated nerve fiber were analyzed by immunohistochemistry and Western-blotting.RESULTS: There was a high expression of Piezo2 and a low expression of Piezo1 in the naive and CCD groups. In contrast, the expression of Piezo2 was down regulated and Piezo1 was increased after a period of Tuina. There was significant difference(P ≤ 0.05) between the groups.CONCLUSION: Our findings suggest that Tuina therapy can increase the expression of Piezo2 and decrease the expression of Piezo1 in the test rats. The different changes in the expressions of Piezo1 and Piezo2 may play an important role in alleviating CCD-induced allodynia and hyperalgesia.Song Pengfei Lin Zhigang Zhu Qingguang Jiang Shichao Zhang Hao Cheng Yanbin Sun Wuquan Wu Zhiwei Zhou Xin Lv Zhizhen Fang Min 2018Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2018,38,6:6
Influence of coagulation mechanisms and floc formation on filterability显示文摘Minimizing particles in water is a key goal for improving drinking water quality and safety. The media filtration process,as the last step of the solid–liquid separation process,is largely influenced by the characteristics of flocs, which are formed and controlled within the coagulation process. In a laboratory-based study, the impacts of the physical characteristics of flocs formed using aluminum sulfate on the filtration treatment of two comparative water samples were investigated using a photometric dispersion analyzer and a filterability apparatus. In general, the optimum dosage for maximizing filterability was higher than that for minimizing turbidity under neutral p H conditions. For a monomeric aluminum-based coagulant, the charge neutralization mechanism produced better floc characteristics, including floc growth speed and size, than the sweep flocculation mechanism. In addition, the charge neutralization mechanism showed better performance compared to sweep flocculation in terms of DOC removal and floc filterability improvement for both waters, and showed superiority in turbidity removal only when the raw water had high turbidity. For the different mechanisms, the ways that floc characteristics impacted on floc filterability also differed. The low variation in floc size distribution obtained under the charge neutralization mechanism resulted in the flocs being amenable to removal by filtration processes. For the sweep flocculation mechanism, increasing the floc size improved the settling ability of flocs, resulting in higher filter efficiency.Ruyuan Jiao Rolando Fabris Christopher W.K.Chow Mary Drikas John van Leeuwen Dongsheng Wang Zhizhen Xu 2017Journal of Environmental Sciences2017,29,7:6
Hyaluronic acid facilitates bone repair effects of calcium phosphate cement by accelerating osteogenic expression显示文摘Calcium phosphate cements(CPC)are widely anticipated to be an optimum bone repair substitute due to its satisfied biocompatibility and degradability, suitable to be used in minimally invasive treatment of bone defects. However the clinical application of CPC is still not satisfied by its poor cohesiveness and mechanical properties,in particular its osteoinductivity.Hyaluronic acid reinforced calcium phosphate cements(HA/CPC)showed extroadinary potential not only enhancing the compressive strength of the cements but also significantly increasing its osteoinductivity. In our study, the compressive strength of HA/CPC increased significantly when the cement was added 1%hyaluronic acid(denoted as 1-HA/CPC).In the meantime, hyaluronic acid obviously promoted ALP activity, osteogenic related protein and mRNA expression of hBMSCs(human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells)in vitro, cement group of HA/CPC with 4%hyaluronic acid adding(denoted as 4-HA/CPC)showed optimal enhancement in hBMSCs differentiation. After being implanted in rat tibial defects,4-HA/CPC group exhibited better bone repair ability and bone growth promoting factors, comparing to pure CPC and 1-HA/CPC groups. The underlying biological mechanism of this stimulation for HA/CPC may be on account of higher osteogenic promoting factors secretion and osteogenic genes expression with hyaluronic acid incorporation. These results indicate that hyaluronic acid is a highly anticipated additive to improve physicochemical properties and osteoinductivity performance of CPCs for minimally invasive healing of bone defects.Xu Cui Chengcheng Huang Zhizhen Chen Meng Zhang Chunyu Liu Kun Su Jianyun Wang Li Li Renxian Wang Bing Li Dafu Chen Changshun Ruan Deping Wang William W.Lu Haobo Pan 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,11:6
Protective effects of kidney-tonifying Chinese herbal preparation on substantia nigra neurons in a mouse model of Parkinson's disease显示文摘The Chinese herbs Herba Epimedii, Fructus Ligustri Lucidi and Rhizoma Polygonati were injected into Parkinson's disease mice established via intraperitoneal injection of 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1, 2, 3, 6-tetrahydropyridine hydrochloride. The selective monoamine oxidase B inhibitor selegiline was used as a positive control drug. After successive administration for 4 weeks, Herba Epimedii could downregulate the expression of caspase-3 and increase the brain-derived neurotrophic factor level, as well as increase tyrosine hydroxylase activity in the substantia nigra of Parkinson's disease mouse models. Rhizoma Polygonati could downregulate the expression of caspase-3 and FasL, and increase neural growth factor and brain-derived neurotrophic factor levels. Fructus Ligustri Lucidi could downregulate caspase-3 expression. Rhizoma Polygonati and Fructus Ligustri Lucidi did not produce obvious effects on tyrosine hydroxylase activity. Herba Epimedii and Fructus Ligustri Lucidi yielded similar effects on apoptosis-promoting factors to those elicited by selegiline. Herba Epimedii and Rhizoma Polygonati significantly increased the levels of neurotrophic factors compared with selegiline. Herba Epimedii significantly increased tyrosine hydroxylase activity compared with selegiline. It is indicated that the kidney-tonifying Chinese herbal preparation can downregulate the expression of apoptosis-promoting factors, increase neurotrophic factors levels in the substantia nigra and striatum, as well as increase tyrosine hydroxylase activity in the substantia nigra of Parkinson's disease mouse models, thereby exerting a stronger or similar neuroprotective effects compared with selegiline.Jing Cai Yun Tian Ruhui Lin Xuzheng Chen Zhizhen Liu Jindong Xie 2012Neural Regeneration Research2012,7,6:5
Robust stabilization of multilinear interval plants显示文摘The robust D-stability of a class of multilinear interval polynomials is considered. Some sufficient conditions are given to judge the robust D-stability of the uncertain systems. In short, an uncertain system is robustly D-stable if some linear matrix inequalities are solvable. Moreover, our results are applied to the robust stabilization of multilinear interval plants. Taking advantage of the uncertainty structure information, these results are computationally tractable and effective in practice.WANG Zhizhen, WANG Long and YU Wensheng(1. 16A cell-based high-throughput approach to identify inhibitors of influenza A virus显示文摘Influenza is one of the most common infections threatening public health worldwide and is caused by the influenza virus.Rapid emergence of drug resistance has led to an urgent need to develop new anti-influenza inhibitors. In this study we established a 293T cell line that constitutively synthesizes a virus-based negative strand RNA,which expresses Gaussia luciferase upon influenza A virus infection.Using this cell line,an assay was developed and optimized to search for inhibitors of influenza virus replication.Biochemical studies and statistical analyses presented herein demonstrate the sensitivity and reproducibility of the assay in a high-throughput format(Z 0 factor value40.8).A pilot screening provides further evidence for validation of the assay.Taken together, this work provides a simple, convenient, and reliable HTS assay to identify compounds with anti-influenza activity.Qian Gao Zhen Wang Zhenlong Liu Xiaoyu Li Yongxin Zhang Zhizhen Zhang Shan Cen 2014Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2014,4,4:5
Integrated System of Solar Cells with Hierarchical NiCo2O4 Battery-Supercapacitor Hybrid Devices for Self-Driving Light-Emitting Diodes显示文摘An integrated system has been provided with a-Si/H solar cells as energy conversion device,NiCo2O4 battery-supercapacitor hybrid(BSH)as energy storage device, and light emitting diodes(LEDs)as energy utilization device.By designing three-dimensional hierarchical NiCo2O4 arrays as faradic electrode, with capacitive electrode of active carbon(AC),BSHs were assembled with energy density of 16.6 Wh kg-1,power density of 7285 W kg-1,long-term stability with 100% retention after 15,000 cycles, and rather low self-discharge.The NiCo2O4//AC BSH was charged to 1.6 V in 1 s by solar cells and acted as reliable sources for powering LEDs.The integrated system is rational for operation, having an overall efficiency of 8.1% with storage efficiency of 74.24%.The integrated system demonstrates a stable solar power conversion, outstanding energy storage behavior, and reliable light emitting. Our study offers a precious strategy to design a self-driven integrated system for highly efficient energy utilization.Yuliang Yuan Yangdan Lu BeiEr Jia Haichao Tang Lingxiang Chen YuJia Zeng Yang Hou Qinghua Zhang Qinggang He Lei Jiao Jianxing Leng Zhizhen Ye Jianguo Lu 2019Nano-Micro Letters2019,11,3:5
An extract from the earthworm Eisenia fetida non-specifically inhibits the activity of influenza and adenoviruses显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To test the in vitro antiviral activity of a crudetissueextract(CTE)fromtheearthwormEisenia fetida, determine any effective components in the CTE,andelucidatepossiblemechanismsofaction.METHODS:A CTE was made by homogenizing earthworms, followed by treatment with ammonium sulfate, then thermal denaturation.Inhibition of virus-induced cytopathic effect(CPE) was used to assess antiviral activity.Chromatographic analysis was used to identify effective components in the CTE.RESULTS:The CTE inhibited viral CPE at non-cytotoxic concentrations.Chromatography indicated that antiviral components corresponded to three active peaks indicative of proteases, nucleases and lysozymes. For adenoviruses, reduction in viral activity occurred for 100 μg/mL CTE.The reduction in adenoviral activity for four fractions was 100%,91.8%,86.9%,and 94.7%.For influenza viruses, reduction in viral activity of 100%,86.6%,69.1% and 88.3% was observed for 37 μg/mL CTE.In addition, three active fractions mixture had stronger antiviral activity(98.7% and 96.7%) than three fractions alone.Gel electrophoresis results indicated that nucleases from E.fetida could degrade the genome of influenza viruses and adenoviruses.CONCLUSION:The earthworm CTE displayed non-specific antiviral properties, possibly mediated by a combination of proteases, nucleases and lysozymes.Nucleases likely participate in the antiviral process, and degrade the genome of the virus thereby preventing further replication.Zhizhen Liu Jianhua Wang Jianlin Zhang Baofeng Yu Bo Niu 2012Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2012,32,4:4
Study on the effects of organic matter characteristics on the residual aluminum and flocs in coagulation processes显示文摘Characteristics of organic matter may affect the residual aluminum after the coagulation process. This study reported the results of a survey for one drinking water treatment plant and measured the concentration of residual aluminum species with different molecular weights.Survey results indicated that humic acid or organic matter whose molecular weight was smaller than 1500 Da had significant effects on residual aluminum. All the treatment processes were ineffective in removing dissolved organic matter whose molecular weight was smaller than1500 Da. These results also indicated that the addition of sand or polyacrylamide in the coagulation process could greatly decrease the concentration of humic acid, and the concentration of residual aluminum also decreased. These results revealed that for all water samples after filtration, the majority of total residual aluminum existed in the form of total dissolved aluminum, accounting for 70%–90%. The concentration of residual aluminum produced in bovine serum albumin solutions indicated that when the DOC was larger than4.0 mg/L, there were still significant differences when the solution p H value varied from 4.0 to 9.0.Hui Xu Dawei Zhang Zhizhen Xu Yanjing Liu Ruyuan Jiao Dongsheng Wang 2018Journal of Environmental Sciences2018,30,1:3
