| 1 | A flexible three-dimensional electrode mesh:An enabling technology for wireless brain-computer interface prostheses显示文摘The neural interface is a key component in wireless brain–computer prostheses.In this study,we demonstrate that a unique three-dimensional(3D)microneedle electrode on a flexible mesh substrate,which can be fabricated without complicated micromachining techniques,is conformal to the tissues with minimal invasiveness.Furthermore,we demonstrate that it can be applied to different functional layers in the nervous system without length limitation.The microneedle electrode is fabricated using drawing lithography technology from biocompatible materials.In this approach,the profile of a 3D microneedle electrode array is determined by the design of a two-dimensional(2D)pattern on the mask,which can be used to access different functional layers in different locations of the brain.Due to the sufficient stiffness of the electrode and the excellent flexibility of the mesh substrate,the electrode can penetrate into the tissue with its bottom layer fully conformal to the curved brain surface.Then,the exposed contact at the end of the microneedle electrode can successfully acquire neural signals from the brain. | Zhuolin Xiang Jingquan Liu Chengkuo Lee | 2016 | Microsystems & Nanoengineering2016,2,1: | 8 |
| 2 | A Modified Gravity p-Median Model for Optimizing Facility Locations显示文摘The gravity p-median model is an important improvement to the widely-used p-median model. However, there is still a debate on its validity in empirical applications. Previous studies even doubt the significance of the gravity p-median model. Using a case study of tertiary hospitals in Shenzhen, China, this study re-examines the difference between the gravity p-median model with the p-median model, by decomposing the difference between the two models into gravity rule and variant attraction. This study also proposes a modified gravity p-median model by incorporating a distance threshold. The empirical results support the validity of the gravity p-median model, and also reveal that only when the attractions of candidate facility locations are variable will the gravity p-median model lead to different results with the p-median model. The difference between the modified gravity p-median model and the gravity p-median model is also examined. Moreover, the impacts of the distance-decay parameter and distance threshold on solutions are investigated. Results indicate that a larger distance-decay parameter tends to result in a more dispersed distribution of optimal facilities and a smaller average travel time, and a smaller distance threshold can better promote the spatial equity of facilities. | 11 | Power loss transition of stable ZnO varistor ceramics: Role of oxygen adsorption on the stability of interface states at the grain boundary显示文摘Highly stable ZnO varistor ceramics with steadily decreasing power loss have been put into applications in electrical and electronic systems for overvoltage protections, even with the absence of general understandings on their aging behaviors. In this paper, we investigated their aging nature via conducting comparative direct current (DC) aging experiments both in air and in nitrogen, during which variations of electrical properties and interface properties were measured and analyzed. Notably, continuously increasing power loss with severe electrical degradation was observed for the sample aged in nitrogen. The power loss transition was discovered to be closely related to the consumption of oxygen adsorption at the grain boundary (GB), which could, however, remain constant for the sample aged in air. The interface density of states (DOS) Ni, which is crucial for pinning the potential barrier, was proved to decrease in nitrogen, but keep stable in air. | 18 | Vegetation-related dry deposition of global PM_(2.5) from satellite observations显示文摘Vegetation plays an important role in the dry deposition of particles with significant spatial variability,but the magnitude remains unclear at the global scale.With the aid of satellite products,this study estimated the vegetation-related dry deposition of fine particulate matter(PM_(2.5)).Methodologically,dry deposition was first calculated using an empirical algorithm.Then,deposition on the leaf surface was estimated to evaluate the influence of vegetation.Our results showed that the mean deposition velocity(V_(d))of global PM_(2.5)was 0.91×10^(-3)μg·m^(-2)·s^(-1),with high velocities observed in sparsely vegetated regions because of the high friction velocity.Under the combined effect of the PM_(2.5)mass concentration and deposition velocity,the global mean dry deposition reached 0.47 g·m-^(2)·yr^(-1).Global vegetation absorbed 0.26 g·m-^(2)·yr^(-1)from PM_(2.5)pollution sources,contributing 54.98%of the total dry deposition.Spatially,vegetation-related dry deposition was high in the Amazon,Central Africa and East China due to dense vegetation coverage or serious pollution.Temporally,the increasing trends were mainly in Central Africa and India because of worsening air pollution.The results of this study helped to clarify the impact of vegetation on air pollution,which supported related land management and planning for air quality improvement. | FENG Huihui DING Ying ZOU Bin COHEN Jason Blake YE Shuchao YANG Zhuolin QIN Kai LIU Lei GU Xiaodong | 2022 | Journal of Geographical Sciences2022,32,4: | 1 |

| 20 | Stable cycling of LiNi_(0.9)Co_(0.05)Mn_(0.05)O_(2)/lithium metal batteries enabled by synergistic tuning the surface stability of cathode/anode显示文摘Ni-rich layered oxides(LiNi_(0.9)Co_(0.05)Mn_(0.05)O_(2))show great potential in long-range and low-cost lithiumion batteries.However,due to the high surface sensitivity,their practical application is hindered by interfacial instability with electrolytes under high voltage for long cyclic life.Herein,by combining both firstprinciple calculations and time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry(TOF-SIMS),a novel surface fluorinated reconstruction(SFR)mechanism is proposed to improve the interfacial stability under high voltage,which could effectively regulate the surface fluoride species to desensitize the LiNi_(0.9)Co_(0.05)Mn_(0.05)O_(2)interface.We demonstrate here that by tuning the ratio of fluoride species,the LiNi_(0.9)Co_(0.05)Mn_(0.05)O_(2)/Li battery could achieve excellent long-term and high voltage performance(163.5 mA h g^(-1)at 0.5 C for 300 cycles under 4.4 V),while the controlled sample decayed to 125.4 mA h g^(-1)after 300 cycles.Moreover,the favorable cross-talk effect induced by SFR further facilitates the incorporation of suitable amounts of Ni ions into the construction of stable solid electrolyte interface(SEI)layer for anode surface.Therefore,the ultra-long cycling stability under high voltage can be achieved by the robust cathode/electrolyte and Li/electrolyte interfaces,which results in excellent interfacial stability after long cycling.This work provides new insights into the surface design of cathode materials and improves the stability of the electrode-electrode interface under high voltage. | Chunli Li Xinyu Zhang Zhuolin Yang Haijian Lv Tinglu Song Shijie Lu Yuxiang Zhang Tianwen Yang Fan Xu Feng Wu Daobin Mu | 2023 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2023,,12: | 0 |
