| 3 | Topographic differentiations of biological soil crusts and hydraulic properties in fixed sand dunes, Tengger Desert显示文摘Biological soil crusts(BSCs) play an important role in surface soil hydrology. Soils dominated with moss BSCs may have higher infiltration rates than those dominated with cyanobacteria or algal BSCs. However, it is unnown whether improved infiltration in moss BSCs is accompanied by an increase in soil hydraulic conductivity or water retention capacity. We investigated this question in the Tengger Desert, where a 43-year-old revegetation program has promoted the formation of two distinct types of BSCs along topographic positions, i.e. the moss-dominated BSCs on the interdune land and windward slopes of the fixed sand dunes, and the algal-dominated BSCs on the crest and leeward slopes. Soil water retention capacity and hydraulic conductivity were measured using an indoor evaporation method and a field infiltration method. And the results were fitted to the van Genuchten–Mualem model. Unsaturated hydraulic conductivities under greater water pressure(<–0.01 MPa) and water retention capacities in the entire pressure head range were higher for both crust types than for bare sand. However, saturated and unsaturated hydraulic conductivities in the near-saturation range(>–0.01 MPa) showed decreasing trends from bare sand to moss crusts and to algal crusts. | 5 | Xa7, a new executor R gene that confers durable and broad-spectrum resistance to bacterial blight disease in rice显示文摘Bacterial blight(BB)is a globally devastating rice disease caused by Xanthomonas oryzae pv.oryzae(Xoo).The use of disease resistance(R)genes in rice breeding is an effective and economical strategy for the control of this disease.Nevertheless,a majority of R genes lack durable resistance for long-term use under global warming conditions.Here,we report the isolation of a novel executor R gene,Xa7,that confers extremely durable,broad-spectrum,and heat-tolerant resistance to Xoo.The expression of Xa7 was induced by incompatible Xoo strains that secreted the transcription activator-like effector(TALE)AvrXa7 or PthXo3,which recognized effector binding elements(EBEs)in the Xa7 promoter.Furthermore,Xa7 induction was faster and stronger under high temperatures.Overexpression of Xa7 or co-transformation of Xa7 with avrXa7 triggered a hypersensitive response in plants.Constitutive expression of Xa7 activated a defense response in the absence of Xoo but inhibited the growth of transgenic rice plants.In addition,analysis of over 3000 rice varieties showed that the Xa7 locuswas found primarily in the indica and aus subgroups.A variation consisting of an 11-bp insertion and a base substitution(G to T)was found in EBEAvrXa7 in the tested varieties,resulting in a loss of Xa7 BB resistance.Through a decade of effort,we have identified an important BB resistance gene and characterized its distinctive interaction with Xoo strains;these findings will greatly facilitate research on the molecular mechanism of Xa7-mediated resistance and promote the use of this valuable gene in breeding. | Xifeng Chen Pengcheng Liu Le Mei Xiaoling He Long Chen Hui Liu Shurong Shen Zhandong Ji Xixi Zheng Yuchen Zhang Zhenyu Gao Dali Zeng Qian Qian Bojun Ma | 2021 | Plant Communications2021,2,3: | 9 |
| 6 | Anatomical and functional outcomes after Densiron 68 heavy silicone oil tamponade for complicated retinal detachment in Chinese eyes显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the safety and efficacy of Densiron 68 heavy silicone oil (HSO) tamponade for complicated retinal detachment(RD)in Chinese eyes.METHODS:Twenty-one eyes of 21 patients with complicated RD were included in this retrospective study.All patients underwent pars plana vitrectomy with an internal tamponade using Densiron 68 HSO.Anatomical and functional results and complications were evaluated,including retinal status,visual acuity(VA),intraocular pressure(IOP),intraocular inflammation,lens opacity,and HSO emulsification.RESULTS:Allthepatients were followed up for 3mo to1y(5.8±1.16mo).Retinal reattachment was achieved in 19of 21 patients(90.5%).VA improved in 18 of 21 patients(85.7%),from 1.93 logMAR(±0.48)to 1.52 logMAR(±0.45)(P=0.001).Postoperative complications included early dispersion of HSO in 7 eyes(38.8%),cataract in 10 of 18phakic eyes(55.5%),moderate postoperative inflammation reaction in 10 eyes(47.6%),and elevated IOP in 5 eyes(23.8%),all of which were controlled by medication or by surgery.CONCLUSION:Highanatomical and functional success rates can be achieved with primary vitrectomy for complicated RD by using Densiron 68 HSO;however,it should not be ignored that Densiron 68 HSO can cause some complications in the eye. | Fang Liu Hui Li Le Feng Fang Wang | 2014 | International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2014,7,3: | 7 |
| 7 | Experimental investigation of thermal effect on cavitation characteristics in a liquid rocket engine turbopump inducer显示文摘The objective of this paper is to investigate the effect of water temperature on cavitation characteristics in a turbopump inducer,a series of experiments at different temperatures have been conducted in a newly developed visualization test facility.It is found that higher temperature shows little influence on the non-cavitation performance and breakdown characteristic in the investigated range.The relationship between cavitation development and pressure fluctuation has been discussed in detail.Higher temperature displays a remarkable stabilization effect on the cavitation excited pressure.In particular,the inception cavitation numbers of both the super-synchronous rotating cavitation and synchronous rotating cavitation are decreased at higher temperatures,and the corresponding frequencies are not affected,while the amplitudes are distinctly reduced,and the occurrence range of synchronous rotating cavitation is significantly narrowed.A generalized RayleighPlesset equation has been employed to account for the thermal effect on the bubble development,which may provide a deep insight in understanding the experimental results.Thermal effect is found to act as a remarkable dissipation mechanism to suppress the bubble growth,smooth the collapse.In particular,the excited pressure during collapse is smaller at higher temperatures,which may lead to the stabilization effect of high temperature in this study. | Chunmin WANG Le XIANG Yonghua TAN Hui CHEN Kaifu XU | 2021 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2021,34,8: | 7 |

| 17 | Investigation of shunt solar cells’ currents based on equivalent circuit model显示文摘In view of the universality of the parallel connection of solar cells and their mismatch problem, in the present paper, we select two shunt solar cells (connected in parallel) as our research object, and use the equivalent one-diode circuit of the solar cell and the analysis of the two-body model. At first, the equations of current and voltage are deduced from the related electrical laws and the circuit diagram of the two solar cells connected in parallel. Then, according to the experimentally measured data of typical single-crystalline silicon solar cells (125 mm×125 mm), we select the appropriate simulation parameters. Following this, by using the photo-generated current, the shunt resistance, and the serial resistance of one of the shunt solar cells and the load resistance as independent variables, in turn, the changing characteristics of each branch current in the two shunt solar cells are numerically discussed and analyzed for these four cases for the first time. At the same time, we provide a simple physical explanation for the modeling results. Our analyses show that these parameters have different impacts on the internal currents of solar cells connected in parallel. These results provide a reference to solve the problem of connecting solar cells and to develop higher efficiency solar cells and systems. | 19 | The establishment of polypeptide PSMA-targeted chimericantigen receptor-engineered natural killer cells forcastration-resistant prostate cancer and the induction of ferroptosis-related cell death显示文摘Background:The mortality of castration-resistant prostate cancer(CRPC)is high due to lack of an effective treatment.Chimeric antigen receptor(CAR)-based therapy is a promising immunotherapeutic strategy.Here,we aimed to design a novel CAR-natural killer(NK)cells with a clinically significant tumoricidal effect on CRPC.Methods:We constructed novel CAR-NK92MI cells with a CD244-based recombinant lentiviral vector.Different intracellular segments(CD244,NKG2D,or CD3ζ)were screened to identify the best candidate according to cell lysis assay and CD107a expression levels.To enhance the affinity of the CAR to the tumor antigen,we compared an antibody specific for prostate-specific membrane antigen(anti-PSMA)with PSMA-targeted polypeptide(p-PSMA),which was screened by phage display combinatorial library.Then,CAR-NK92MI cells with both a high affinity for PSMA and a strong tumoricidal capacity were generated.In addition,we verified their tumor-killing effect in vitro and in vivo.The release of cytokine by NK92MI cells was compared with that by CAR-NK92MI cells through flow cytometry and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Moreover,ferroptosis-related cell death was explored as a possible underlying mechanism.Results:Three different CAR intracellular regions CAR1(CD244),CAR2(CD244,NKG2D)and CAR3(CD244,NKG2D,and CD3ζ)were constructed.CAR2 was chosen to confer a stronger tumoricidal ability on CAR-NK92MI cells.Compared with anti-PSMA,p-PSMA exhibited enhanced affinity for the tumor antigen.Thus,p-PSMA-CAR-NK92MI cells,which expressed CAR with a polypeptide-based antigen-binding region,an intracellular CD244 and a NKG2D costimulatory domain,were generated.They could selectively and successfully kill PSMA+target cells and exhibited specific lysis rate of 73.19%for PSMA-positive C4-2 cells and 33.04%for PSMA-negative PC3 cells.Additionally,p-PSMA-CAR-NK92MI cells had significantly higher concentrations of IFN-γ,TNF-αand granzyme B than NK92MI cells.In a CRPC cancer xenograft model,p-PSMA-CAR-NK92MI cells significantly inhibited tumor growth and exerted a more consistent killing effect than NK92MI cells.Moreover,ferroptosis is a potential mechanism through which CAR-NK92MI cells attack cancer cells,and is triggered by IFN-γ.Conclusions:p-PSMA-CAR-NK92MI cells can effectively kill CRPCPSMA+cells in vitro and in vivo.This strategy may provide additional treatment options for patients with CRPC. | Liyuan Wu Fei Liu Le Yin Fangming Wang Hui Shi Qinxin Zhao Feiya Yang Dong Chen Xiying Dong Yuchun Gu Nianzeng Xing | 2022 | Cancer Communications2022,42,8: | 2 |
| 20 | Super-conductive silver nanoparticles functioned three-dimensional CuxO foams as a high-pseudocapacitive electrode for flexible asymmetric supercapacitors显示文摘Copper oxide has aroused great concern in energy storage fields due to its properties of high theoretical capacitance,low cost and mild toxicity.However,its wide application still remains challenges owing to its poor electrical conductivity and unstable cycling life.Binder-free foam electrodes possess abundant porous structures and high specific surface area,which could get good contact with electrolyte.Herein,we demonstrate Ag nanoparticles decorated CuxO nanowires grown spontaneously on copper foam(CF)electrode for asymmetric supercapacitor.The skeleton structure of CF provides large amounts of active sites for the growth of CuxO nanowires.Moreover,Ag nanoparticles further decrease the internal resistance and enhance the electrochemical performance.Ag/CuxO/CF-40 electrode presents a high area specific capacitance of 1192 mF cm^(-2)at 2 mA cm^(-2)and the influence of surface capacitance-dominated process and diffusion-controlled process are discussed in detail.Besides,the energy density of the as-prepared asymmetric supercapacitor(ASC)reaches 46.32 mWh cm^(-2)at a power density of 3.00 mW cm^(-2).A 2V LED is lighted successfully by two ASC in series.This work provides a new strategy to prepare low internal resistance and binder-free flexible Ag/CuxO/CF electrode,which demonstrates a good potential application in flexible supercapacitors or other wearable electronic devices. | Hui Jiang Xuehua Yan Le Wang Xiaonong Cheng Jieyu Miao Mingyu You Yihan Zhu Jianmei Pan | 2021 | Journal of Materiomics2021,7,1: | 2 |
