| 2 | Effects of Shrub on Runoff and Soil Loss at Loess Slopes Under Simulated Rainfall显示文摘Improved understanding of the effect of shrub cover on soil erosion process will provide valuable information for soil and water conservation programs.Laboratory rainfall simulations were conducted to determine the effects of shrubs on runoff and soil erosion and to ascertain the relationship between the rate of soil loss and the runoff hydrodynamic characteristics.In these simulations a 20° slope was subjected to rainfall intensities of 45,87,and 127 mm/h.The average runoff rates ranged from 0.51 to 1.26 mm/min for bare soil plots and 0.15 to 0.96 mm/min for shrub plots.Average soil loss rates varied from 44.19 to 114.61 g/(min·m^2) for bare soil plots and from 5.61 to 84.58 g/(min·m^2) for shrub plots.There was a positive correlation between runoff and soil loss for the bare soil plots,and soil loss increased with increased runoff for shrub plots only when rainfall intensity is 127 mm/h.Runoff and soil erosion processes were strongly influenced by soil surface conditions because of the formation of erosion pits and rills.The unit stream power was the optimal hydrodynamic parameter to characterize the soil erosion mechanisms.The soil loss rate increased linearly with the unit stream power on both shrub and bare soil plots.Critical unit stream power values were 0.004 m/s for bare soil plots and 0.017 m/s for shrub plots. | XIAO Peiqing YAO Wenyi SHEN Zhenzhou YANG Chunxia LYU Xizhi JIAO Peng | 2017 | Chinese Geographical Science2017,27,4: | 5 |

| 4 | Effects of Different Combinations of Red and Blue Light on Morphology and Photosynthetic Characteristic of Tomato Seedlings显示文摘Blue and red light are spectral wavelengths more effective for plants. The effects of different ratios of red and blue light( R/B = 2,R/B = 4,R/B = 8,R/B = 12) provided by LEDs on morphology and photosynthetic characteristics of tomato seedlings were studied. The results showed that plant height,stem diameter,fresh weight,dry weight,seedling index and G value increased with the increase of R/B ratio until 8. On the contrary,SPDA value decreased with the increase of R/B ratio. Photosynthetic characteristics were measured by CO_2 assimilation( Pn),stomatal conductance( gs) and intracellular CO_2 concentration( Ci). Pn and gs decreased with the increase of R/B ratio. | 5 | Curvature-controlled band alignment transition in 1D van der Waals heterostructures显示文摘The effect of curvature on the band alignment of one-dimensional (1D) van der Waals (vdW) transition metal dichalcogenide(TMDC) heterostructures is studied by comprehensive first-principles calculations. We find that, as the diameter of a TMDCnanotube decreases, the combined effect of curvature-induced flexoelectricity and circumferential tensile strain causes a rapidlowering of the conduction band minimum, whereas the valence band maximum exhibits an initial lowering before rising. Asindividual TMDC nanotubes form coaxial heterostructures, the concerted effect of diameter-dependent band-edge levels andintertube coupling via flexovoltage can result in a transition of intertube band alignment from Type II to Type I in multipleheterostructural systems, including large-diameter MoSe_(2)@WS_(2), MoTe_(2)@MoSe_(2), and MoTe_(2)@WS_(2) heterostructures. | 6 | Combined cell grafting and VPA administration facilitates neural repair through axonal regeneration and synaptogenesis in traumatic brain injury显示文摘Neuronal regeneration and functional recovery are severely compromised following traumatic brain injury(TBl).Treatment options,including cell transplantation and drug therapy,have been shown to benefit TBl,although the underlying mechanisms remain elusive.In this study,neural stem cells(NSCs)are transplanted into TBl-challenged mice,together with olfactory ensheathing cells(OECs)or followed by valproic acid(VPA)treatment.Both OEC grafting and VPA treatment facilitate the differentiation of NSCs into neurons(including endogenous and exogenous neurons)and significantly attenuate neurological functional defects in TBl mice.Combination of NSCs with OECs or VPA administration leads to overt improvement in axonal regeneration,synaptogenesis,and synaptic plasticity in the cerebral cortex in TBl-challenged mice,as shown by retrograde corticospinal tract tracing,electron microscopy,growth-associated protein 43(GAP43),and synaptophysin(SYN)analyses.However,these beneficial effects of VPA are reversed by local delivery of N-methyl-D-aspartate(NMDA)into tissues surrounding the injury epicenter in the cerebral cortex,accompanied by a pronounced drop in axons and synapses in the brain.Our findings reveal that increased axonal regeneration and synaptogenesis evoked by cell grafting and VPA fosters neural repair in a murine model of TBl.Moreover,VPA-induced neuroprotective roles are antagonized by exogenous NMDA administration and its concomitant decrease in the number of neurons of local brain,indicating that increased neurons induced by VPA treatment mediate axonal regeneration and synaptogenesis in mice after TBl operation.Collectively,this study provides new insights into NSC transplantation therapy for TBI. | Sujuan Liu Haili Tian Yanmei Niu Chunxia Yu Lingjian Xie Zhe Jin Wenyan Niu Jun Ren Li Fu Zhi Yao | 2022 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2022,54,9: | 1 |

| 14 | Reconstruction of 3D Skin Model and Its Application in Evaluation the Efficacy of Cosmetic Raw Materials and Active Intredients显示文摘Via the use of Mimedisc~? as a scaffold, the normal human dermal fibroblasts were first seeding into the scaffold to form a dermal equivalent after three weeks, and then seeding normal human epidermal keratinocytes on it, followed by immersion and air-liquid interphase culture stage, to finally form a 3 D sponge matrix skin model which has a very similar structure of normal human skin(NHS). The results of Masson staining, and immunohistochemistry(IHC), immunofluorescence(IF) staininccg show that this skin model has a very similar structure and key protein expression of NHS. Meanwhile, this model was used as a tool to investigate the effect of Himalaya cedar extract on Dermal-Epidermal Junction(DEJ) in vitro. Results show that the Himalayan cedar extract can significantly increase the thickness of the epidermis, thus increase the barrier capacity of the skin to resist external environment. Further, this Himalaya cedar extract can promote the expressions of Laminin 5 and Collagen VII of DEJ. | 15 | Estimating the air exchange rates in naturally ventilated cattle houses using Bayesian-optimized GBDT显示文摘It is challenging to estimate the air exchange rate(AER)dynamically in naturally ventilated livestock buildings such as dairy houses due to the influence of complex and variable outdoor environmental factors,large opening ratios,and the confusion of inflow and outflow at openings.This makes it difficult to efficiently regulate the opening ratio to meet the ventilation requirements in naturally ventilated livestock buildings.In this study,the air exchange rates of naturally ventilated cattle houses(NVCHs)in different seasons and opening ratios were obtained through field measurements and computational fluid dynamics(CFD)simulations.A fast and efficient machine learning framework was proposed and examined to predict AER based on the gradient boosting decision tree(GBDT)combined with Bayesian optimization.Compared with commonly used machine learning models such as multilayer perceptrons(MLPs)and support vector machines(SVMs),the proposed GBDT model has higher prediction accuracy and can avoid falling easily into local optima.Compared with the existing mechanical model based on the Bernoulli equation,the proposed GBDT model showed a slightly higher prediction than the mechanistic model and was much easier to use in AER estimation when inputting easily collected environmental factors in practical applications.Using Bayesian optimization could dramatically reduce the computing time when determining the optimal hyperparameter for establishing the GBDT model,dramatically saving on computing resources.Based on the Bayesian optimized GBDT model,the desirable opening ratio of the side curtain can be determined for automatically regulating the AER of cattle houses in future applications. | Luyu Ding Lei E Yang Lyu Chunxia Yao Qifeng Li Shiwei Huang Weihong Ma Ligen Yu Ronghua Gao | 2023 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2023,16,1: | 0 |
