| 1 | Distribution and assessment of heavy metals in the surface sediment of Yellow River, China显示文摘Large amounts of heavy metals discharged by industrial cities that are located along the middle reach of Yellow River, China have detrimental impacts on both the ecological environment and human health. In this study, fourteen surface sediment samples were taken in the middle reach of the Yellow River. Contents of Zn, Pb, Ni, Cu, Cr, Cd, As were measured, and the pollution status was assessed using three widely used pollution assessment methods, including the single factor index method, Nemerow pollution index method and potential ecological risk index. The concentrations of the studied heavy metals followed the order: Zn > Cr > Cu > Ni > Pb > As > Cd. Nearly 50% of sites had Cu and Cr accumulation. The concentration of Cu at the Yiluo River exceeded the secondary standard value of the Environmental quality standard for soils. Comparison of heavy metal concentrations between this study and other selected rivers indicated that Cu and Cr may be the major pollutants in our case. The single factor index indicated that many samples were at high levels of pollution for Cu and Cd; the Nemerow pollution index indicated that the Yihe River, Luohe River, Yiluo River and Huayuankou were polluted. | 3 | A comparative study between Embosphere~ and conventional transcatheter arterial chemoembolization for treatment of unresectable liver metastasis from GIST显示文摘Objective:Transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TACE) is a standard treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) and/or some unresectable liver metastasis tumors.Hypervascular liver metastatic lesions such as metastasis from gastrointestinal stromal tumor(GIST) are an indication for transcatheter arterial embolization(TAE).The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Embosphere~-TAE(Embo-TAE) in comparison with conventional TACE(cTACE) for the treatment of liver metastasis from GIST.Methods:A total of 45 patients who underwent TACE between Aug 2008 and Feb 2013 were enrolled.Patients with GIST who underwent TAE with Embosphere~(n=19) were compared with controls who received cTACE(n=26).The primary end points were treatment response and treatment-related adverse events.The secondary end points were progression-free survival(PFS) and overall survival(OS).Results:The treatment response of Embo-TAE group was significantly higher than that of the cTACE group(P<0.001).The PFS was significantly better in the Embosphere~-group than in the cTACE group(56.6 and 42.1 weeks,respectively;P=0.003).However,there was no statistically significant difference in liver toxicity between the two groups(P>0.05).The median OS in the Embo-TAE group was longer than that in the cTACE group(74.0 weeks,95% CI:68.2-79.8 vs.61.7 weeks,95% CI:56.2-67.2 weeks)(unadjusted P=0.045).The use of Embo-TAE significantly reduced the risk of death in patients with GIST with liver metastases according to the Cox proportional hazards regression model [hazard ratio(HR):0.149;95% CI:0.064-0.475].Conclusions:TAE with Embosphere~ showed better treatment response and delayed tumor progression compared with cTACE.There was no significant difference in treatment-related hepatic toxicities.EmboTAE thus appears to be a feasible and promising approach in the treatment of liver metastasis from GIST. | Guang Cao Xu Zhu Jian Li Lin Shen Renjie Yang Hui Chen Xiaodong Wang Song Gao Haifeng Xu Linzhong Zhu Peng Liu Jianhai Guo | 2014 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2014,26,1: | 18 |

| 6 | Insulin improves cardiac myocytes contractile function recovery in simulated ischemia-reperfusion:Key role of Akt显示文摘The present study examined cardiac myocytecontractile and Ca2+ transient responses to insulin duringsimulated ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) and furtherinvestigated the role of protein kinase B (Akt) in the insulin-induced inotropic effect. Ventricular myocytes wereenzymatically isolated from adult Sprague-Dawley rats and perfused with Tyrode solution while electrically field-stimulated. Simulated I/R was induced by perfusing the cells with chemical anoxic solution including sodiumcyanide-sodium lactate for 15 min followed by reperfusionwith normal oxygenated Tyrode solution with or withoutinsulin. It is found that insulin only at concentration as high as 10 IU/L could increase cell shortening (16±5%, P < 0.05) in normal myocytes, whereas it concentration-dependently (0.01—10 IU/L) increased the contraction,the velocity ofshortening/releng- thening and Ca2+ transient in I/Rmyocytes. In addition, insulin treatment (1 IU/L) increasedAkt phosphorylation of I/R cardiomyocytes by 2.4-foldcompared with that of the control (P < 0.01). Mostimportantly, pretreatment with LY 294002, a specificinhibitor of phosphatidylinositol 3′-kinase (PI3-kinase), significantly inhibited both Akt phosphorylation and thepositive inotropic response to insulin in the I/Rcardiomyocytes. These results suggest that insulin exertsdirect positive inotropic effect by increasing Ca2+ transient of cardiomyocytes, which is enhanced in the pathologicalcondition of I/R. | 9 | Three-dimensional printing technique assisted cognitive fusion in targeted prostate biopsy显示文摘Objective:To explore the effect of 3-dimensional(3D)printing-assisted cognitive fusion on improvement of the positive rate in prostate biopsy.Methods:From August to December 2014,16 patients with suspected prostatic lesions detected by multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)were included.Targeted prostate biopsy was performed with the use of prostate 3D reconstruction modeling,computersimulated biopsy,3D printing,and cognitive fusion biopsy.All patients had received 3.0 T multiparametric MRI before biopsy.The DICOM MRI files were imported to medical imaging processing software for 3D reconstruction modeling to generate a printable.stl file for 3D printing with use of transparent resin as raw material.We further performed a targeted 2-to 3-core biopsy at suspected lesions spotted on MRI.Results:For the 16 patients in the present study,3D modeling with cognitive fusion-based targeted biopsy was successfully performed.For a single patient,1e2 lesions(average:1.1 lesions)were discovered,followed by 2-6 cores(average:2.4 cores)added as targeted biopsy.Systematic biopsies accounted for 192 cores in total,with a positive rate of 22.4%;targeted biopsies accounted for 39 cores in total,with a positive rate of 46.2%.Among these cases,10 patients(62.5%)were diagnosed with prostate adenocarcinoma,in which seven were discovered by both systematic and targeted biopsy,one was diagnosed by systematic biopsy only,and two were diagnosed by targeted biopsy only.For systematic biopsy,Gleason score ranged from 6 to 8(average:7),while that for targeted biopsy ranged from 6 to 9(average:7.67).Among the seven patients that were diagnosed by both systematic and targeted biopsy,three(42.8%)were reported with a higher Gleason score in targeted therapy than in systematic biopsy.Conclusion:3D printing-assisted cognitive fusion technique markedly promoted positive rate in prostate biopsy,and reduced missed detection in high-risk prostate cancer. | Yan Wang Xu Gao Qingsong Yang Haifeng Wang Ting Shi Yifan Chang Chuanliang Xu Yinghao Sun | 2015 | Asian Journal of Urology2015,2,4: | 6 |

| 11 | Assessing the impacts of ecological-living-productive land changes on eco-environmental quality in Xining City on Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, China显示文摘The Ecological-living-productive land(ELPL)classification system was proposed in an effort to steer China's land pattern to an ecological-centered path,with the development model shifting from a single function into more integrated multifunction land use.The focus is coordinating the man-land contradictions and developing an intensive,efficient and sustainable land use policy in an increasingly tense relationship between humans and nature.Driven by socioeconomic change and rapid population growth,many cities are undergoing urban sprawl,which involves the consumption of cropland and ecological land and threatens the ecological balance.This paper aims to quantitatively analyze the critical effects of ELPL changes on eco-environmental quality according to land use classification based on leading function of ecology,living and production from 1990 to 2015 with a case study of Xining City.Also,four future land use scenarios were simulated for 2030 using the Future Land Use Simulation(FLUS)model that couples human and natural effects.Our results show a decrease in productive land(PL)and an increase in ecological land(EL)and living land(LL)in Xining City.Forestry ecological land(FEL)covered the top largest proportion;agriculture productive land(APL)showed the greatest reduction and urban and rural living land(U-RLL)presented a dramatic increase.The eco-environmental quality improved in 1990-2010,mainly affected by the conversion of APL to FEL and GEL.However,the encroachment of U-RLL into APL,other ecological land(OEL)and FEL was the main contributor to the decline in eco-environmental quality in 2010-2015 as well as the primary reason for the increase area of lower-quality.The Harmonious Development(HD)-Scenario,characterized by a rational allocation of LL and PL and a better eco-environment,would have implications for planning and monitoring future management of ELPL,and may represent a valuable reference for local policy-makers. | ZiYi Gao HaiFeng Zhang XiaoNan Yang ZhiYuan Song | 2019 | Research in Cold and Arid Regions2019,11,3: | 5 |

| 14 | Compatibility of rubber stoppers for recombinant antitumor-antivirus protein injection by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry显示文摘A simple, rapid, and sensitive gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) method was developed and validated for the simultaneous determination of two fatty acids, methyl hexadecanoate (MH) and methyl stearate (MS), to allow the evaluation of packaging-drug compatibility. The two migrants were quantified in selective ion-monitoring (SIM) mode, with limits of detection (LOD) of 0.0030 μg/mL and 0.0121 μg/mL. Linear calibration curves for MH and MS were obtained in the concentration ranges of 0.1011–5.0570 μg/mL and 0.2015–10.0740 μg/mL, respectively. The developed method was successfully applied to estimate the safety of the injection of recombinant antitumor-antivirus protein (RAAP). The results showed that the possible maximum daily intake was 3.0 ng and 12.1 ng for MH and MS, respectively. | 16 | In vivo degradation and endothelialization of an iron bioresorbable scaffold显示文摘Detection of in vivo biodegradation is critical for development of next-generation medical devices such as bioresorbable stents or scaffolds(BRSs).In particular,it is urgent to establish a nondestructive approach to examine in vivo degradation of a new-generation coronary stent for interventional treatment based on mammal experiments;otherwise it is not available to semi-quantitatively monitor biodegradation in any clinical trial.Herein,we put forward a semi-quantitative approach to measure degradation of a sirolimus-eluting iron bioresorbable scaffold(IBS)based on optical coherence tomography(OCT)images;this approach was confirmed to be consistent with the present weight-loss measurements,which is,however,a destructive approach.The IBS was fabricated by a metal-polymer composite technique with a polylactide coating on an iron stent.The efficacy as a coronary stent of this new bioresorbable scaffold was compared with that of a permanent metal stent with the name of trade mark Xience,which has been widely used in clinic.The endothelial coverage on IBS was found to be greater than on Xience after implantation in a rabbit model;and our well-designed ultrathin stent exhibited less individual variation.We further examined degradation of the IBSs in both minipig coronary artery and rabbit abdominal aorta models.The present result indicated much faster iron degradation of IBS in the rabbit model than in the porcine model.The semi-quantitative approach to detect biodegradation of IBS and the finding of the species difference might be stimulating for fundamental investigation of biodegradable implants and clinical translation of the next-generation coronary stents. | Wenjiao Lin Hongjie Zhang Wanqian Zhang Haiping Qi Gui Zhang Jie Qian Xin Li Li Qin Haifeng Li Xiang Wang Hong Qiu Xiaoli Shi Wei Zheng Deyuan Zhang Runlin Gao Jiandong Ding | 2021 | Bioactive Materials2021,6,4: | 3 |
| 17 | Retinoic acid ameliorates high-fat diet-induced liver steatosis through Sirt1显示文摘In this study, treatment of C57 BL/6 J(wild type, WT) mice fed a high-fat diet(HFD) with retinoic acid(RA) decreased body weight and subcutaneous and visceral fat content, reversed the apparent hepatosteatosis, and reduced hepatic intracellular triglyceride and serum alanine transaminase(ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase(AST) concentrations. Moreover, RA treatment improved glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity in WT mice fed a HFD. However, these RA-induced effects in WT mice fed a HFD were alleviated in liver specific Sirtuin 1(Sirt1) deficient(LKO) mice fed a HFD. Furthermore,RA also could not improve glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity in LKO mice fed a HFD. The mechanism studies indicated that RA indeed increased the expression of hepatic Sirt1 and superoxide dismutase 2(Sod2), and inhibited the expression of sterol regulatory element binding protein 1 c(Srebp-1 c) in WT mice in vivo and in vitro. RA decreased mitochondrial reactive oxygen species(ROS) production in WT primary hepatocytes and increased mitochondrial DNA(mtDNA) copy number in WT mice liver. However, these RA-mediated molecular effects were also abolished in the liver and primary hepatocytes from LKO mice. | 18 | Distributed Contact Plan Design for Multi-Layer Satellite-Terrestrial Network显示文摘In multi-layer satellite-terrestrial network, Contact Graph Routing(CGR) uses the contact information among satellites to compute routes. However, due to the resource constraints in satellites, it is extravagant to configure lots of the potential contacts into contact plans. What's more, a huge contact plan makes the computing more complex, which further increases computing time. As a result, how to design an efficient contact plan becomes crucial for multi-layer satellite network, which usually has a large scaled topology. In this paper, we propose a distributed contact plan design scheme for multi-layer satellite network by dividing a large contact plan into several partial parts. Meanwhile, a duration based inter-layer contact selection algorithm is proposed to handle contacts disruption problem. The performance of the proposed design was evaluated on our Identifier/Locator split based satellite-terrestrial network testbed with 79 simulation nodes.
