| 1 | Environmental impact factors and mercury speciation in the sediment along Fujian and eastern Guangdong coasts显示文摘Concentrations of total mercury (THg) and methyl mercury (MeHg) were determined for 32 surface sediments collected along the coastal line of Fujian Province and eastern Guangdong Province. The spatial distributions of THg and MeHg and their environmental impact factors were investigated. The average concentrations of THg and MeHg in the sediments were 31.5 ng/g and 0.096 ng/g, respectively. Both sediment THg and MeHg concentrations showed relatively high value in the Minjiang Estuary and the coastal areas of Quanzhou and Putian. The concentrations overall decreased as the distance to the shoreline increased. The correlations among environmental impact factors and THg, MeHg were analyzed. The sediment THg concentration was highly correlated to the concentrations of organic matter, copper, total nitrogen (TN) and total phosphorus (TP), and significantly correlated to pH value of the bottom seawater and concentration of sediment sulfide. | 2 | Mitochondrial uncoupler BAM15 inhibits artery constriction and potently activates AMPK in vascular smooth muscle cells显示文摘Our previous studies found that mitochondrial uncouplers CCCP and niclosamide inhibited artery constriction and the mechanism involved AMPK activation in vascular smooth muscle cells. BAM15 is a novel type of mitochondrial uncoupler. The aim of the present study is to identify the vasoactivity of BAM15 and characterize the BAM15-induced AMPK activation in vascular smooth muscle cells(A10 cells). BAM15 relaxed phenylephrine(PE)-induced constricted rat mesenteric arteries with intact and denuded endothelium. Pretreatment with BAM15 inhibited PEinduced constriction of rat mesenteric arteries with intact and denuded endothelium. BAM15, CCCP,and niclosamide had the comparable IC50 value of vasorelaxation in PE-induced constriction of rat mesenteric arteries. BAM15 was less cytotoxic in A10 cells compared with CCCP and niclosamide.BAM15 depolarized mitochondrial membrane potential, induced mitochondrial fission, increased mitochondrial ROS production, and increased mitochondrial oxygen consumption rate in A10 cells.BAM15 potently activated AMPK in A10 cells and the efficacy of BAM15 was stronger than that of CCCP, niclosamide, and AMPK positive activators metformin and AICAR. In conclusion, BAM15 activates AMPK in vascular smooth muscle cells with higher potency than that of CCCP, niclosamide and the known AMPK activators metformin and AICAR. | 3 | Projections of changes in marine environment in coastal China seas over the 21^st century based on CMIP5 models显示文摘The increases of atmospheric carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases have caused fundamental changes to the physical and biogeochemical properties of the oceans,and it will continue to occur in the foreseeable future.Based on the outputs of nine Earth System Models from the fifth phase of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project(CMIP5),in this study,we provided a synoptic assessment of future changes in the sea surface temperature(SST),salinity,dissolved oxygen(DO),seawater pH,and marine net primary productivity(NPP)in the coastal China seas over the 21st century.The results show that the mid-high latitude areas of the coastal China seas(East China Seas(ECS),including the Bohai Sea,Yellow Sea,and East China Sea)will be simultaneously exposed to enhanced warming,deoxygenation,acidification,and decreasing NPP as a consequence of increasing greenhouse gas emissions.The magnitudes of the changes will increase as the greenhouse gas concentrations increase.Under the high emission scenario(Representative Concentration Pathway 8.5),the ECS will experience an SST increase of 3.24±1.23℃,a DO concentration decrease of 10.90±3.92μmol/L(decrease of 6.3%),a pH decline of 0.36±0.02,and a NPP reduction of-17.7±6.2 mg/(m2·d)(decrease of 12.9%)relative to the current levels(1980-2005)by the end of this century.The co-occurrence of these changes and their cascade effects are expected to induce considerable biological and ecological responses,thereby making the ECS among the most vulnerable ocean areas to future climate change.Despite high uncertainties,our results have important implications for regional marine assessments. | TAN Hongjian CAI Rongshuo HUO Yunlong GUO Haixia | 2020 | Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2020,38,6: | 4 |

| 7 | 5-HT_(3) receptor antagonists protect against pressure overload-induced cardiac hypertrophy in murine显示文摘Activation of cardiac sympathetic afferent reflex results in the increase of sympathetic activity.Serotonin(5-HT)activates cardiac sympathetic afferent through stimulating 5-HT_(3) receptors,the aim of present study is to test whether 5-HT_(3) receptor antagonists protect against cardiac hypertrophy.Cardiac hypertrophy induced by TAC for 4 weeks in mice was significantly inhibited by administration of 5-HT_(3) receptor antagonists,ondansetron(2.5 mg/kg,ip.)or tropisetron(2.5 mg/kg,ip.).Histological analysis revealed that the increased cardiac fibrosis in hypertrophic heart was relieved by ondansetron or tropisetron treatment.Ondansetron or tropisetron reduced the elevated plasma level of noradrenalin in mice with cardiac hypertrophy.Ondansetron and tropisetron had no effect on cardiomyocte hypertrophy induced by phenylephrine treatment in vitro.Finally,we took tropisetron as the representative drug and examined the effects of tropisetron on the desensitization of cardiac b-adrenergic receptor in rat treated with abdominal aortic banding(AB).Results showed that tropisetron restored the desensitization of cardiac b-adrenergic receptor in AB-treated rats.In conclusion,5-HT_(3) receptor antagonists protected against cardiac hypertrophy and restored the desensitization of cardiac adrenergic responsiveness,the mechanism in which may be through reducing the sympathetic activity. | Rong Huo Chang Chen Yan Chen Zhe Li Yunlong Hou Deli Dong | 2012 | Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2012,2,1: | 1 |
| 8 | Intra-and inter-specific scaling laws of plants and animals显示文摘The allometric scaling laws of metabolism in 447 animal and 1200 plant species showed convex and concave curvatures between mass and metabolic rate,respectively.The objective of the study is to explain the difference of curvatures between animals and plants based on fractal models.Several intraspecific scaling laws were derived from an asymmetric vascular tree with the fractal dimension(i.e.,a in k^(a)_(1)+k^(a)_(2)+…-=1,where k_(i)refers to the ratio of daughter to mother diameters).Based on the intraspecific scaling laws,the allometric scaling exponent of metabolism(i.e.,an interspecific scaling law)was shown to be equal to one-third of fractal dimension.Moreover,a novel piecewise-defined function in conjunction with the intraspecific scaling laws was proposed to explain the diverse metabolic scaling in animals and plants.The intraspecific and interspecific scaling laws showed good agreement with morphometric measurements.The experimentally-validated scaling models predict the diversity of intraspecific and interspecific scaling seen in nature.To our knowledge,this is the first study to use fractal models to explain the convex and concave forms of metabolic scaling in animals and plants.The study resolves the long-term controversies to use the resource-transport network models for explanation of the allometric scaling law of metabolism. | Jiahang Li Hao Wu Ghassan S。Kassab Wenchang Tan Yunlong Huo | 2021 | Acta Mechanica Sinica2021,37,2: | 0 |
| 9 | 中国北方温带草原植被恢复的氮限制显示文摘围栏禁牧被认为是退化草原植被恢复的有效手段。在植被的恢复过程中,植物需要从土壤中吸收更多的氮。氮素也是中国北方温带草原植被生长的一个主要限制因素。目前尚不清楚该地区的土壤氮素供应是否能够支持长期的植被恢复。本研究在植被的生长季期间对我国北方7个温带草原进行了野外调查。其中,围栏外侧草地保持持续放牧状态,围栏内侧草地保持完全禁牧状态。研究结果表明,禁牧显著提高了草地地上生物量、物种丰富度和香农-维纳多样性指数,其分别提高了126.2%、42.6%和18.8%。禁牧使土壤硝态氮和总无机氮浓度分别降低了51.9%和21.0%,这表明生长季氮素供应与植物需求可能存在错配现象。同时,围封草地地上生物量、物种丰富度和香农-维纳多样性指数与豆科植物群落优势度呈正相关。这些结果表明,温带草原植被恢复受土壤无机氮限制。群落中豆科植物的生物固氮可能缓解植被恢复的氮限制。 | Yaowen Zhang Yunlong Zhang Tianci Huo Bin Wei Kangli Chen Nan Liu Yingjun Zhang Junyi Liang | 2023 | Journal of Plant Ecology2023,16,2: | 0 |
| 10 | The abundance,characteristics and diversity of microplastics in the South China Sea:Observation around three remote islands显示文摘Surrounded by emerging markets with considerable plastic consumption,the South China Sea has been a focus area of microplastic research.A survey on the floating microplastics(>0.3 mm)and microplastics ingested by fish and mollusks was conducted around three remote islands here.Compared with the results from several previous studies,a high abundance of floating microplastics(with a median of 1.9×10^(5)items/km^(2) or 0.7 items/m^(3))was observed,revealing another“hot spot”for microplastics.Polyolefin,especially polypropylene,was the main component.The diversity index and evenness index were calculated and evaluated based on the composition of microplastics.The characteristic peaks of Raman spectra concerning pigmented microplastics were provided.Transparent sheets/films were predominant in the water sample,which was quite different from a similar study in this sea area(8.9%for film),and only 16.4%of floating microplastics(>0.3 mm)were fibers/lines,implying that the main sources of floating microplastics(>0.3 mm)might be household/agricultural consumption activities.The transparent fiber/line was also dominant in organisms.It is suggested that the main sources of microplastics ingested by organisms might be both fabric fibers and fishing/aquaculture. | Hongzhe Chen Sumin Wang Huige Guo Yunlong Huo Hui Lin Yuanbiao Zhang | 2022 | Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2022,16,1: | 0 |
| 11 | HTPdb and HTPtools:Exploiting maize haplotypetag polymorphisms for germplasm resource analyses and genomics-informed breeding显示文摘Along with rapid advances in high-throughput-sequencing technology,the development and application of molecular markers has been critical for the progress that has been made in crop breeding and genetic research.Desirable molecular markers should be able to rapidly genotype tens of thousands of breeding accessions with tens to hundreds of markers.In this study,we developed a multiplex molecular marker,the haplotype-tag polymorphism(HTP),that integrates Maize6H-60K array data from 3,587 maize inbred lines with 6,375 blocks from the recombination block map.After applying strict filtering criteria,we obtained 6,163 highly polymorphic HTPs,which were evenly distributed in the genome.Furthermore,we developed a genome-wide HTP analysis toolkit,HTPtools,which we used to establish an HTP database(HTPdb)covering the whole genomes of 3,587 maize inbred lines commonly used in breeding.A total of 172,921 non-redundant HTP allelic variations were obtained.Three major HTPtools modules combine seven algorithms(e.g.,chain Bayes probability and the heterotic-pattern prediction algorithm)and a new plotting engine named“BCplot”that enables rapid visualization of the background information of multiple backcross groups.HTPtools was designed for big-data analyses such as complex pedigree reconstruction and maize heterotic-pattern prediction.The HTP-based analytical strategy and the toolkit developed in this study are applicable for high-throughput genotyping and for genetic mapping,germplasm resource analyses,and genomics-informed breeding in maize. | Yikun Zhao Hongli Tian Chunhui Li Hongmei Yi Yunlong Zhang Xiaohui Li Han Zhao Yongxue Huo Rui Wang Dingming Kang Yuncai Lu Zhihao Liu Ziyue Liang Liwen Xu Yang Yang Ling Zhou Tianyu Wang Jiuran Zhao Fengge Wang | 2022 | Plant Communications2022,3,4: | 0 |

| 13 | Nutrient distributions and nitrogen-anomaly(N^(*))in the tropical North Pacific Ocean显示文摘Based upon cruise observations broadly covering the tropical North Pacific during July-November 2017,together with data obtained from the World Ocean Circulation Experiment Hydrographic Program,this study examined the distribution of dissolved inorganic nitrogen(DIN,nitrate(NO_(3)^(-))+nitrite(NO_(2)^(-))),dissolved inorganic phosphorus(DIP)and related N^(*)(nitrogen-anomaly,N^(*)=N-16P+2.9,where N and P are the concentrations of DIN(>1.0μmol/L)and DIP(>0.1μmol/L)),used as an index of N2fixation,in the upper 1000 m of the water column.Nutrient concentrations displayed distinct spatial variability in the upper ocean but became relatively constant at a depth of 1000 m:they were high at low latitudes and in the eastern region,with an obvious nutricline at~150 m(DIN,~32.0μmol/L;DIP,~2.4μmol/L)and then generally increased with depth;they decreased markedly(DIN,~1.2μmol/L;DIP,~0.1μmol/L;at~150 m)at high latitudes and in the western region,where a nutricline was not apparent.The N^(*)index showed significant meridional and zonal variation,with the most negative values located at low latitudes and in the eastern region(~10°N,~150°-170°E),while becoming positive towards the northwest(the north of~18°N,~160°E westward).A N^(*)concentration larger than 2.0μmol/L which often used as an indicator of N2fixation,was observed between 155°E and 165°E;N^(*)values were 2.0μmol/L to6.0μmol/L at~15°-28°N,i.e.,much higher than those in the southern sector(0-2.0μmol/L at~5°-10°N).Zonally,N^(*)decreased gradually from west(-2.0μmol/L to 4.0μmol/L,~145°-165°E)to east(-2.0μmol/L to-8.0μmol/L,~155°W)along~10°N,which was consistent with the distribution of Trichodesmium abundance and N2fixation rates.Furthermore,since such region was also supplied with aeolian deposition,high N^(*)was probably not only induced by N2fixation but also influenced by iron and/or nitrogen deposition. | Aiqin Han Yu Wang Yunlong Huo Cai Lin Kaiwen Zhou Fangfang Kuang Hui Lin | 2022 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2022,41,11: | 0 |
