| 4 | Homeobox B8 Targets Sterile Alpha Motif Domain-Containing Protein 9 and Drives Glioma Progression显示文摘Gliomas are the most commonly occurring tumors of the central nervous system. Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most malignant and aggressive brain cancer in adults. Further understanding of the mechanisms underlying the aggressive nature of GBM is urgently needed. Here we identified homeobox B8(HOXB8), a member of the homeobox family, as a crucial contributor to the aggressiveness of GBM. Data mining of publicly accessible RNA sequence datasets and our patient cohorts confirmed a higher expression of HOXB8 in the tumor tissue of GBM patients, and a strong positive correlation between the expression level and pathological grading of tumors and a negative correlation between the expression level and the overall survival rate. We next showed that HOXB8 promotes the proliferation and migration of glioblastoma cells and is crucial for the activation of the PI3K/AKT pathway and expression of epithelial–mesenchymal transition-related genes, possibly through direct binding to the promoter of SAMD9 (Sterile Alpha Motif Domain-Containing Protein 9) and activating its transcription. | 7 | High intratumoral expression of elF4A1 promotes epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition and predicts unfavorable prognosis in gastric cancer显示文摘Gastric cancer is an important health problem,being the fifth most common cancer and the third leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide.Aberrant protein translation contributes to the oncogenesis and development of cancers,and upregulation of translation initiation factor elF4A1 has been observed in several kinds of malignancies.However,the role of elF4A1 in gastric cancer progression remains unclear.In this study,we found that the expression of elF4A1,a component of translation initiation complex,was increased in gastric cancer.High expression of elF4A1 was positively associated with poor tumor differentiation,late T stage,lymph node metastasis,advanced TNM stage,and poor prognosis in patients with gastric cancer.Overexpression of elF4A1 promoted the migration and invasion of gastric cancer cells in vitro and enhanced tumor metastasis in nude mice model.Mechanism studies revealed that elF4A1 induced epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition(EMT)of gastric cancer cells through driving the translation of SNAI1 mRNA.Together,these findings indicate that elF4A1 promotes EMT and metastasis of gastric cancer and suggest that elF4A1 is a potential target for the adjuvant therapy for gastric cancer patients. | Chanchan Gao Xinyin Guo Anwei Xue Yuanyuan Ruan Hongshan Wang Xiaodong Gao | 2020 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2020,52,3: | 1 |

| 14 | A new member of Sphenopsida,Neolobatannularia gen. nov. from Late Triassic of western Liaoning,China显示文摘A new genus Neolobatannularia Sun et Li gen. nov. with the type species Neolobatannularia liaoningensis Sun et Li sp. nov. from the Upper Triassic Yangcaogou Formation of Beipiao, Liaoning, China, is described in this paper. The new taxon is attributed to Equisetales of Sphenopsida based on its branch with internodes, node and leaves borne in whorls on nodes. It is a new member of the Mesozoic Sphenopsida. Although the new taxon shares some morphological characters with the genus Lobatannularia Kawasaki, a genus widely distributed in the Permian Cathaysia flora in East Asia, and the genus Lobatannulariopsis Yang from the Late Triassic of southwestern China, its unique branching pattern is markedly distinguished from the two known genera. | 15 | Desalted duck egg white nanogels as Pickering stabilizers for food-grade oil-in-water emulsion显示文摘Achieving the reuse of traditional egg by-products,salted duck egg whites(SEW),is an urgent problem to be solved.In this current work,we constructed a heat-induced gel-assisted desalination method for SEW.Subsequently,a top-down way was utilized to prepare desalted duck egg protein nanogels(DEPN)with uniformly distributed diameters and their application in the oil/water(O/W)interface system was explored.The results revealed that the increase of DEPN concentration could lower the droplet size,however,the size was negatively correlated with the oil phase fraction.Moreover,the effect of pH,ionic strength,and temperature on the emulsion stability demonstrated that the DEPN-stabilized emulsion displayed superior physical stability under different conditions.The addition of NaCl resulted in the significant decrease in droplet size of the emulsion,while further increasing the NaCl concentration,the droplet size did not decrease accordingly.Besides,heat-treatment and cold-treatment had little negative effect on the stability of the emulsion.Even if the droplet size of the emulsion increased at 80℃for 3 h,the morphology of the emulsion remained unchanged.Our study demonstrated DEPN had great potential as a stabilizer for food-grade Pickering emulsions. | Jingyun Zhao Xiaohan Guo Ze Chen Yalei Dai Hongshan Liang Qianchun Deng Shugang Li Bin Zhou | 2022 | Food Science and Human Wellness2022,11,5: | 0 |
