4Optical observations of LIGO source GW 170817 by the Antarctic Survey Telescopes at Dome A,Antarctica显示文摘The LIGO detection of gravitational waves(GW) from merging black holes in 2015 marked the beginning of a new era in observational astronomy. The detection of an electromagnetic signal from a GW source is the critical next step to explore in detail the physics involved. The Antarctic Survey Telescopes(AST3),located at Dome A, Antarctica, is uniquely situated for rapid response time-domain astronomy with its continuous night-time coverage during the austral winter. We report optical observations of the GW source(GW 170817) in the nearby galaxy NGC 4993 using AST3. The data show a rapidly fading transient at around 1 day after the GW trigger, with the i-band magnitude declining from 17:23 ± 0:13 magnitude to 17:72 ± 0:09 magnitude in ~1:8 h. The brightness and time evolution of the optical transient associated with GW 170817 are broadly consistent with the predictions of models involving merging binary neutron stars. 5Driver-automation shared steering control for highly automated vehicles显示文摘A model predictive control(MPC)-based shared steering framework for intelligent vehicles is proposed in this paper.The road boundary and vehicle stability boundary are regarded as the safe envelope,and the tradeoff between the freedom of driver operation and safety assurance of intelligent vehicles is made within this safe envelope.Under this cooperative steering framework,the reliability of drivers is analyzed in dangerous situations and in the predictive time domain,and two improved schemes are proposed.Under the two improved schemes,the weight of the control objective can be adaptively changed according to the results of the threat assessment and predetermined strategy.At the same time,an evaluation index named control intervention rate and risk rate is proposed to evaluate the designed human-vehicle cooperation scheme.The simulation results show that the performance of the two improved schemes in ensuring the safety of intelligent vehicles has been improved.Jun LIU Hongyan GUO Linhuan SONG Qikun DAI Hong CHEN 2020Science China(Information Sciences)2020,63,9:6

9Testing the role of genetic variation of the MC4R gene in Chinese population in antipsychotic-induced metabolic disturbance显示文摘Antipsychotic-induced metabolic disturbance(AIMD) is a common adverse effect of antipsychotics with genetics partly underpinning variation in susceptibility among schizophrenia patients. Melanocortin4 receptor(MC4 R) gene, one of the candidate genes for AIMD, has been under-studied in the Chinese patients. We conducted a pharmacogenetic study in a large cohort of Chinese patients with schizophrenia. In this study, we investigated the genetic variation of MC4 R in Chinese population by genotyping two SNPs(rs489693 and rs17782313) in 1,991 Chinese patients and examined association of these variants with the metabolic effects that were often observed to be related to AIMD. Metabolic measures, including body mass index(BMI), waist circumference(WC), glucose, triglyceride, high-density lipoprotein(HDL), and low-density lipoprotein(LDL) levels were assessed at baseline and after 6-week antipsychotic treatment. We found that interaction of SNP×medication status(drug-na?ve/medicated) was significantly associated with BMI, WC, and HDL change %, respectively. Both SNPs were significantly associated with baseline BMI and WC in the medicated group. Moderate association of rs489693 with WC, Triglyceride, and HDL change % were observed in the whole sample. In the drug-na?ve group, we found recessive effects of rs489693 on BMI gain more than 7%, WC and Triglyceride change %, with AA incurring more metabolic adverse effects. In conclusion, the association between rs489693 and the metabolic measures is ubiquitous but moderate. Rs17782313 is less involved in AIMD. 10Dual role of MdSND1 in the biosynthesis of lignin and in signal transduction in response to salt and osmotic stress in apple显示文摘Clarifying the stress signal transduction pathway would be helpful for understanding the abiotic stress resistance mechanism in apple(Malus×domestica Borkh.)and could assist in the development of new varieties with high stress tolerance by genetic engineering.The key NAC transcription factor SND1,which is involved in the lignin biosynthesis process in apple,was functionally analyzed.The results of the stress treatments indicated that MdSND1 could be induced by salt,mannitol and ABA.Compared with wild-type GL-3 plants,MdSND1-overexpressing apple plants with greater antioxidant capacity and lignin were more resistant to salt and simulated osmotic stress,while RNAi plants were more vulnerable.Additionally,molecular experiments confirmed that MdSND1 could regulate the biosynthesis of lignin by activating the transcription of MdMYB46/83.Moreover,genes known to be involved in the stress signal transduction pathway(MdAREB1A,MdAREB1B,MdDREB2A,MdRD29A,and MdRD22)were screened for their close correlations with the expression of MdSND1 and the response to salt and osmotic stress.Multiple verification tests further demonstrated that MdSND1 could directly bind to these gene promoters and activate their transcription.The above results revealed that MdSND1 is directly involved in the regulation of lignin biosynthesis and the signal transduction pathway involved in the response to both salt and osmotic stress in apple.Keqin Chen Yunna Guo Mengru Song Lifu Liu Hao Xue Hongyan Dai Zhihong Zhang 2020Horticulture Research2020,7,1:2
11Woodland strawberry WRKY71 acts as a promoter of flowering via a transcriptional regulatory cascade显示文摘The WRKY proteins are a large family of transcription factors that play important roles in stress responses and plant development.However,the roles of most WRKYs in strawberry are not well known.In this study,FvWRKY71 was isolated from the woodland strawberry‘Ruegen’.FvWRKY71 was highly expressed in the shoot apex and red fruit.Subcellular localization analysis showed that FvWRKY71 was located in the nucleus.Transactivation analysis showed that FvWRKY71 presented transcriptional activation activity in yeast.Overexpression of FvWRKY71 in Arabidopsis and woodland strawberry revealed early flowering in the transgenic plants compared with the wild-type control.Gene expression analysis indicated that the transcript levels of the flowering time and development integrator genes AP1,LFY,FT,AGL42,FUL,FPF1,SEP1,SEP2,and SEP3 were increased in FvWRKY71-overexpressing Arabidopsis and strawberry plants compared with the wild-type controls,which may result in accelerated flowering in transgenic plants.Furthermore,FvWRKY71 was proven to directly bind to the W-boxes(TTGACT/C)of the FvFUL,FvSEP1,FvAGL42,FvLFY,and FvFPF1 promoters in vitro and in vivo.Taken together,our results reveal a transcriptional regulatory cascade of FvWRKY71 involved in promoting flowering in woodland strawberry.Yingying Lei Yiping Sun BaotianWang Shuang Yu Hongyan Dai He Li Zhihong Zhang Junxiang Zhang 2020Horticulture Research2020,7,1:2

15Rock crevices determine woody and herbaceous plant cover in the karst critical zone显示文摘The study of the critical zones(CZs) of the Earth link the composition and function of aboveground vegetation with the characteristics of the rock layers, providing a new way to study how the unique rock and soil conditions in karst regions affect the aboveground vegetation. Based on survey results of the rocks, soils and vegetation in the dolomite and limestone distribution areas in the karst area of central Guizhou, it was found that woody plant cover increases linearly with the number of cracks with a width of more than 1 mm, while the cover of herbaceous plants shows the opposite trend(p<0.01). The dolomite distribution area is characterized by undeveloped crevices, and the thickness of the soil layer is generally less than 20 cm, which is suitable for the distribution of herbaceous plants with shallow roots. Due to the development of crevices in the limestone distribution area, the soil is deeply distributed through the crevices for the deep roots of trees, which leads to a diversified species composition and a complicated structure in the aboveground vegetation. Based on moderate resolution imaging spectroradiometer(MODIS) remote sensing data from 2001 to 2010, the normalized differentiated vegetation index(NDVI) and annual net primary productivity(NPP) results for each phase of a 16-day interval further indicate that the NDVI of the limestone distribution area is significantly higher than that in the dolomite distribution area, but the average annual NPP is the opposite. The results of this paper indicate that in karst CZs, the lithology determines the structure and distribution of the soil, which further determines the cover of woody and herbaceous plants in the aboveground vegetation. Although the amount of soil in the limestone area may be less than that in the dolomite area, the developed crevice structure is more suitable for the growth of trees with deep roots, and the vegetation activity is strong. 19Item-level Forecasting for E-commerce Demand with High-dimensional Data Using a Two-stage Feature Selection Algorithm显示文摘With the rapid development of information technology and fast growth of Internet users,e-commerce nowadays is facing complex business environment and accumulating large-volume and highdimensional data.This brings two challenges for demand forecasting.First,e-merchants need to find appropriate approaches to leverage the large amount of data and extract forecast features to capture various factors affecting the demand.Second,they need to efficiently identify the most important features to improve the forecast accuracy and better understand the key drivers for demand changes.To solve these challenges,this study conducts a multi-dimensional feature engineering by constructing five feature categories including historical demand,price,page view,reviews,and competition for e-commerce demand forecasting on item-level.We then propose a two-stage random forest-based feature selection algorithm to effectively identify the important features from the high-dimensional feature set and avoid overfittlng.We test our proposed algorithm with a large-scale dataset from the largest e-commerce platform in China.The numerical results from 21,111 items and 109 million sales observations show that our proposed random forest-based forecasting framework with a two-stage feature selection algorithm delivers 11.58%,5.81%and 3.68%forecast accuracy improvement,compared with the Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average(ARIMA),Random Forecast,and Random Forecast with one-stage feature selection approach,respectively,which are widely used in literature and industry.This study provides a useful tool for the practitioners to forecast demands and sheds lights on the B2C e-commerce operations management.Hongyan Dai Qin Xiao Nina Yan Xun Xu Tingting Tong 2022Journal of Systems Science and Systems Engineering2022,31,2:1
20Effects of Low Temperature Stress on Seedling Growth of Plateau Japonica Rice显示文摘[Objective] The study aimed to screen rational seedling raising date and seedling raising mode for plateau japonica rice,in order to reduce the effect of low temperature on seedlings. [Method]The seedlings of conventional japonica rice Hexi 22-2 and giant embryo No. 1 japonica rice were treated at day temperature 12℃ / night temperature 8℃ and day temperature 14 ℃ / night temperature 10 ℃,and the indicators including chlorophyll content,soluble sugar content,soluble protein content,survival rate,plant height,number of ≥ 1 cm roots,leaf wilting degree and aboveground dry matter weight were determined after treated for0,3 and 6 d,respectively. [Result]Chlorophyll content of seedlings decreased when treated by low temperature for a certain period; with the prolongation of treatment time,contents of soluble sugar and soluble protein in some low temperature treatments increased,while plant height,number of ≥ 1 cm roots and aboveground dry matter weight increased slowly,but the growth rate was significantly lower than that at room temperature; with the decrease of temperature and the prolongation of treatment time,leaf wilting degree increased. The comprehensive experimental results showed that with the increasing duration of low temperature,when two japonica rice varieties grew under the same low temperature,seedlings grew more and more slowly,probably because the lower the treatment temperature,the greater the damage on plants. Giant Embryo No. 1 had weaker cold tolerance than Hexi 22-2.
