| 1 | Precise nanomedicine for intelligent therapy of cancer显示文摘Precise nanomedicine has been extensively explored for efficient cancer imaging and targeted cancer therapy, as evidenced by a few breakthroughs in their preclinical and clinical explorations. Here, we demonstrate the recent advances of intelligent cancer nanomedicine, and discuss the comprehensive understanding of their structure-function relationship for smart and efficient cancer nanomedicine including various imaging and therapeutic applications, as well as nanotoxicity. In particular, a few emerging strategies that have advanced cancer nanomedicine are also highlighted as the emerging focus such as tumor imprisonment, supramolecular chemotherapy, and DNA nanorobot. The challenge and outlook of some scientific and engineering issues are also discussed in future development. | 2 | Impending HRT wave precursors to the Wenchuan M_s8.0 earthquake and methods of earthquake impending prediction by using HRT wave显示文摘We deployed four geo-electric monitoring stations in Sichuan and Yunnan provinces from 2004, using the new generation of equipment (PS-100) and technologies to capture the HRT wave earthquake precursor. Before the Wenchuan Ms8.0 earthquake, we recorded the HRT wave precursor at the only operating station in Hongge (HG, Δ=465 km) and found that significant impending signal had been recorded at the station in the early morning ( 0―5 am) of 12th of May, 2008. The precursor for this earthquake is consistent with precursors recorded for other strong earthquakes. The measured physical properties (geo-resistivity and telluric-current) show tidal wave period oscillations from several days to several months before the earthquakes and the amplitude of such HT oscillation increases significantly towards the occurrence of an earthquake. These HT and RT waves from the epicenter have a causal relationship with the earthquakes that happened several days later. The arrival time of two RT waves is proportional to the distance from the station to the epicenter. The estimated natural decay of the amplitude is correlated with the natural period (T0) of the earthquake fault, which is proportional to the fault length. From this relationship, we can predict the earthquake magnitude. For magnitude 6―9 earthquakes, the natural period is about 1―6 hours. Such oscillation comes from the epicenter area and they can propagate several thousand kilometers in the Earth's crust. Before a strong earthquake in the shallow crust, the conductive pore fluid will experience major changes before the fault rapture. Such fluid change will emit an oscillation in the pore fluid pressure. This is the mechanism for the HRT wave generation. Since the China Earthquake Administration funded the HRT wave short-term earth-quake prediction project in 2003, the first record of HRT precursor wave has been recorded from the 2004-12-26 Sumatra Mw9.0 earthquake with the largest epicentre distance Δ=2900 km. Thereafter, we have captured HRT waves from more than twenty strong earthquakes, which are well-matched and show repeatability, consistency and regularity. All our observation with the HRT waves demonstrate that HRT wave precursors to earthquakes indeed exist. Strong earthquakes can be predicted and short-term and impending earthquake prediction is achievable in the very near future. | 3 | Immunity-and-matrix-regulatory cells derived from human embryonic stem cells safely and effectively treat mouse lung injury and fibrosis显示文摘Lung injury and fibrosis represent the most significant outcomes of severe and acute lung disorders,including COVID-19.However,there are still no effective drugs to treat lung injury and fibrosis.In this study,we report the generation of clinical-grade human embryonic stem cells(hESCs)-derived immunity-and matrix-regulatory cells(IMRCs)produced under good manufacturing practice requirements,that can treat lung injury and fibrosis in vivo.We generate IMRCs by sequentially differentiating hESCs with serum-free reagents.IMRCs possess a unique gene expression profile distinct from that of umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells(UCMSCs),such as higher expression levels of proliferative,immunomodulatory and anti-fibrotic genes.Moreover,intravenous delivery of IMRCs inhibits both pulmonary inflammation and fibrosis in mouse models of lung injury,and significantly improves the survival rate of the recipient mice in a dose-dependent manner,likely through paracrine regulatory mechanisms.IMRCs are superior to both primary UCMSCs and the FDA-approved drug pirfenidone,with an excellent efficacy and safety profile in mice and monkeys.In light of public health crises involving pneumonia,acute lung injury and acute respiratory distress syndrome,our findings suggest that IMRCs are ready for clinical trials on lung disorders. | Jun Wu Dingyun Song Zhongwen Li Baojie Guo Yani Xiao Wenjing Liu Lingmin Liang Chunjing Feng Tingting Gao Yanxia Chen Ying Li Zai Wang Jianyan Wen Shengnan Yang Peipei Liu Lei Wang Yukai Wang Liang Peng Glyn Nigel Stacey Zheng Hu Guihai Feng Wei Li Yan Huo Ronghua Jin Ng Shyh-Chang Qi Zhou Liu Wang Baoyang Hu Huaping Dai Jie Hao | 2020 | Cell Research2020,30,9: | 7 |

| 7 | Target-triggered inhibiting oxidase-mimicking activity of platinum nanoparticles for ultrasensitive colorimetric detection of silver ion显示文摘The development of efficient methods for the detection of hazardous and toxic elements is extremely important for environmental security and public health. In this work, we developed a facile colorimetric assaying system for Ag+ detection in aqueous solution. Chitosan-stabilized platinum nanoparticles(ChPtNPs) were synthesized and severed as an artificial oxidase to catalyze the oxidation of the substrate3,30,5,50-tetramethylbenzidine(TMB) and generate color signal. In the presence of Ag+, due to the strong metallophilic interactions between Ag+ and Pt2+ on the surface of Ch-PtNPs, Ag+ can weaken the affinity to the substrates and inactivate the catalytic activity of Ch-PtNPs, leading to decreased absorbance signal to varying degrees depending on Ag+ amount. Combing the specific binding between Ch-PtNPs and Ag+ with signal amplification procedure based on the Ch-PtNPs-catalyzed TMB oxidation, a sensitive,selective, simple, cost-effective, and rapid detection method for Ag+ can be realized. Ag+ ions in tap and lake waters have been successfully detected. | 13 | Efficient Photocatalytic Degradation of the Persistent PET Fiber‑Based Microplastics over Pt Nanoparticles Decorated N‑Doped TiO_(2) Nanoflowers显示文摘Fiber-based microplastics(FMPs)are highly persistent and ubiquitously exist in the wastewater of textile industry and urban sewage.It remains challenging to completely remove such newly emerged organic pollutants by the predominant physical techniques.In this work,we investigated a photocatalytic degradation catalyzed by TiO_(2) catalyst to demonstrate the feasibility of implementing efficient chemical protocol to fast degrading polyethylene terephthalate(PET)-FMPs(a major FMP type existing in environment).The result shows that a hydrothermal pretreatment(180℃/12 h)is necessary to induce the initial rough appearance and molecular weight reduction.With the comprehensive action of the nano-flower shaped N doped-TiO_(2) catalyst(Pt@N-TiO_(2)-1.5%)on the relatively low molecular weight intermediates,an approximate 29%weight loss was induced on the pretreated PET-FMPs,which is about 8 times superior to the untreated sample.This work not only achieves a superior degradation effect of PET-FMPs,but also provides a new inspiration for the proposal of reduction strategies in the field of environmental remediation in the future. | Dawang Zhou Hongxia Luo Fangzhou Zhang Jing Wu Jianping Yang Huaping Wang | 2022 | Advanced Fiber Materials2022,4,5: | 1 |
