| 3 | Modified hyaluronic acid hydrogels with chemical groups that facilitate adhesion to host tissues enhance cartilage regeneration显示文摘Stable integration of hydrogel implants with host tissues is of critical importance to cartilage tissue engineering.Designing and fabricating hydrogels with high adhesive strength,stability and regeneration potential are major challenges to be overcome.This study fabricated injectable adhesive hyaluronic acid(HA)hydrogel modified by aldehyde groups and methacrylate(AHAMA)on the polysaccharide backbone with multiple anchoring mechanisms(amide bond through the dynamic Schiff base reaction,hydrogen bond and physical interpenetration).AHAMA hydrogel exhibited significantly improved durability and stability within a humid environment(at least 7 days),together with higher adhesive strength(43 KPa to skin and 52 KPa to glass),as compared to commercial fibrin glue(nearly 10 KPa)and HAMA hydrogel(nearly 20 KPa).The results showed that AHAMA hydrogel was biocompatible and could be easily and rapidly prepared in situ.In vitro cell culture experiments showed that AHAMA hydrogel could enhance proliferation(1.2-folds after 3 days)and migration(1.5-folds after 12 h)of bone marrow stem cells(BMSCs),as compared to cells cultured in a culture dish.Furthermore,in a rat osteochondral defect model,implanted AHAMA hydrogel significantly promoted integration between neo-cartilage and host tissues,and significantly improved cartilage regeneration(modified O’Driscoll histological scores of 16.0±4.1 and 18.3±4.6 after 4 and 12-weeks of post-implantation in AHAMA groups respectively,12.0±2.7 and 12.2±2.8 respectively in HAMA groups,9.8±2.4 and 11.5±2.1 respectively in untreated groups).Hence,AHAMA hydrogel is a promising adhesive biomaterial for clinical cartilage regeneration and other biomedical applications. | Jiaqing Chen Jiabei Yang Li Wang Xuewei Zhang Boon Chin Heng Dong-An Wang Zigang Ge | 2021 | Bioactive Materials2021,6,6: | 6 |
| 4 | Fabrication,microstructures,and optical properties of Yb:Lu_(2)O_(3) laser ceramics from co-precipitated nano-powders显示文摘The Yb:Lu_(2)O_(3)precursor made up of spherical particles was synthesized through the co-precipitation method in the water/ethanol solvent.The 5 at% Yb:Lu_(2)O_(3)powder is in the cubic phase after calcination at 1100℃ for 4 h.The powder also consists of spherical nanoparticles with the average particle and grain sizes of 96 and 49 nm,respectively.The average grain size of the pre-sintered ceramic sample is 526 nm and that of the sample by hot isostatic pressing grows to 612 nm.The 1.0 mm-thick sample has an in-line transmittance of 81.6%(theoretical value of 82.2%)at 1100 nm.The largest absorption cross-section at 976 nm is 0.96×1^(0-20)cm^(2) with the emission cross-section at 1033 nm of 0.92×10^(-20)cm^(2) and the gain cross sections are calculated with the smallest population inversion parameter β of 0.059.The highest slope efficiency of 68.7% with the optical efficiency of 65.1% is obtained at 1033.3 nm in quasi-continuous wave(QCW)pumping.In the case of continuous wave(CW)pumping,the highest slope efficiency is 61.0% with the optical efficiency of 54.1%.The obtained laser performance indicates that Yb:Lu_(2)O_(3)ceramics have excellent resistance to thermal load stresses,which shows great potential in high-power solid-state laser applications. | Ziyu LIU Guido TOCI Angela PIRRI Barbara PATRIZI Yagang FENG Jiabei WEI Feng WU Zhaoxiang YANG Matteo VANNINI Jiang LI | 2020 | Journal of Advanced Ceramics2020,9,6: | 4 |

| 6 | Decadal-to-interdecadal response and adjustment of the North Pacific to prescribed surface forcing in an oceanic general circulation model显示文摘The simulation of a higher-resolution oceanic GCM forced with COADS surface conditions during 1945~1993 was analyzed with insight into how the North Pacific responds to the surface forcing.The decadal-to-interdecadal variabilities in the thermal and dynamical fields especially those associated with the 1976/1977 regime shift in the North Pacific were investigated. The model successfully captures the dominant SST anomaly mode on the decadal-to-interdecadal time scales as well as the major feature of SST anomalies in the 1976/1977 regime shift. The model also successfully reproduces two typical subduction events that link the tropical and extratropical oceanic temperature anomalies during the 1970s and the 1980s. Most importantly, the model simulates the dynamical adjustment of the upper ocean under the surface wind forcing. The typical surface circulation anomaly is characterized by a pattern that is simultaneously related to the wind stress anomalies. The typical anomalous pattern for the entire upper-ocean is characterized by coherent anomalies of two oceanic gyres, i.e., the subtropical and subpolar gyres. The delayed response and slower adjustment of the gyres, especially of the subpolar gyre, give rise to a persistent SST anomaly in the central North Pacific. The upper-ocean heat budgets in three target regions, i.e., the central North Pacific, the Californian coastal region and the KOE region, are examined. The cooling in the central North Pacific around 1976/1977 is attributed to the heat flux and meridional advection anomalies. The associated warming in the Californian coastal region is only due to the heat flux anomaly. | 7 | Preparation of Ceramic Foams Suitable for Aircraft Arresting by the Airport Runway Based on a Protein Foaming Agent显示文摘Crushable ceramic foams are more suitable to be used as an arrestor material applied in engineered materials arresting system(EMAS) for airport runway for their properties of widely controllable strength, negligible crushing-rebounding behavior, durability, and chemically-inert composition, comparing with traditional concrete foams. The synthesis of ceramic foams adopted direct-foaming method and used an animal protein as foaming agent. Kaolin, talc powder and alumina were the main raw materials. Effects of the ratios of raw materials, calcination temperatures, heating rates, holding time, viscosities of polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) solution as well as the amounts of protein foaming agent and water on microscopic structure, densities, compressive strength and open porosities of ceramic foams were investigated systematically. The results indicate that ceramic foams with typical pore sizes 100-300 μm, open porosities from 73.1% to 91.5%, densities from 0.25 to 0.62 g·cm-3, compressive strength from 0.19 to 4.89 MPa, are obtained by properly adjusting the parameters mentioned above. And the mechanical strength meets the requirement for the EMAS for airport runway. In addition, good correlations are observed among compressive strength, open porosity, microscopic structure, and crystal phase. | 8 | Blends of hydrophobic and swelling agents in the swelling layer in the preparation of delayed-release pellets of a hydrophilic drug with low MW: Physicochemical characterizations and in-vivo evaluations显示文摘In this study,a hydrophobic material,ethylcellulose,which was used as its aqueous suspension Surelease^(®),was combined with a swelling agent as the swelling layer to prepare delayed-release pellets for Danshensu,which is a hydrophilic drug with low MW.A rupturable,delayed-release pellet consists of a drug core,a swelling layer containing a swelling agent(cross-linked sodium carboxymethyl cellulose)with a hydrophobic agent(Surelease^(®)),and a controlled layer composed by an insoluble,water-permeable polymeric coating(aqueous ethylcellulose dispersions)was developed in a fluidised bed.Results showed that blending Surelease^(®)into the swelling layer could effectively extend the release of Danshensu from the pellets,which may be attributed to the slowed swelling rate by reduction of water penetration and improvement of mechanical integrity of the swelling layer.Drug in the delayed pellets showed sustained release in beagle dogs after oral administration with comparable in-vivo exposure to the uncoated drug pellets.In conclusion,blends of hydrophobic and swelling agents in the swelling layer in doublemembrane pellets could achieve a delayed drug-release profile in vitro,as well as delayed and sustained absorption in vivo for highly soluble,low-MW drug.The present study highlighted the potential use of a delayed-release system for other hydrophilic,low-MW drugs to meet the formulation requirements for chronopharmacological diseases. | Chang You Xuedan Liang Jiabei Sun Lin Sun Yitao Wang Tianyuan Fan Ying Zheng | 2014 | Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences2014,9,4: | 2 |

| 10 | Immobilization of RGD Peptide onto the Surface of Apatite-Wollastonite Ceramic for Enhanced Osteoblast Adhesion and Bone Regeneration显示文摘The arginine-glycine-aspartic(RGD) acid peptide was grafted to the surface of apatitewollastonite(AW) ceramic in an effort to improve its cell adhesion, proliferation and osteoinduction. RGD peptide was covalently immobilized onto the surface of AW ceramic via the synthetic cross linker AAPTS-E and 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)carbodiimide(EDC). The modified surfaces were characterized by attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(ATR-FTIR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS). The chemical analysis indicated that RGD peptide had been immobilized onto the AW surface successfully. The growth of osteoblast-like cells(MG63) showed that modifying the AW surface with RGD peptide enhanced the cell adhesion and proliferation. | 11 | Multibody dynamic analysis using a rotation-free shell element with corotational frame显示文摘Rotation-free shell formulation is a simple and effective method to model a shell with large deformation. Moreover, it can be compatible with the existing theories of finite element method. However, a rotation-free shell is seldom employed in multibody systems. Using a derivative of rigid body motion, an efficient nonlinear shell model is proposed based on the rotation-free shell element and corotational frame. The bending and membrane strains of the shell have been simplified by isolating deformational displacements from the detailed description of rigid body motion. The consistent stiffness matrix can be obtained easily in this form of shell model. To model the multibody system consisting of the presented shells, joint kinematic constraints including translational and rotational constraints are deduced in the context of geometric nonlinear rotation-free element. A simple node-to-surface contact discretization and penalty method are adopted for contacts between shells. A series of analyses for multibody system dynamics are presented to validate the proposed formulation. | 13 | Facile synthesis of Er^(3+)/Tm^(3+)co-doped magnetic/luminescent nanosystems for possible bioimaging and therapy applications显示文摘Manganese-zinc ferrite is a kind of very important magnetic ferrite material.The properties of wide absorption band,sensitivity to ultraviolet(UV)light and tumor H_(2)O_(2) promise it to be possibly used as a photothermal therapy(PTT),photodynamic therapy(PDT)and chemodynamic therapy(CDT)agent.Based on the unique advantages of rare-earth doped nanoparticles,an Er^(3+),Tm^(3+)co-doped upconversion-mediated nanosystem with manganese-zinc ferrite shell(named as UCNPS@M)was developed through a facile thermal co-decomposition method.The final nanosystems were surface-modified by using dopamine hydrochloride(DA)in order to warrant good biocompatibility(named as UCNPS@M@DA).Under irradiation of near-infrared(NIR)light,UCNPS emit both ultraviolet and visible light.The UV light is mostly abso rbed by manga nese-zinc ferrite shell to produce reactive oxygen species(ROS),which is essential to the potential PDT and CDT effect of nanosystems,and at the same time,Mn_(0.5)Zn_(0.5)Fe2O_(4) can further react with H_(2)O_(2) to promote the efficiency of OH-generation.It is expected that UCNPS@M@DA can act as upconversion luminescence imaging guidance due to the visible emission from UCNPS.In addition,the energy absorbed by the nanosystems can be transferred to heat to realize photothermal effect.Moreover,UCNPS@M@DA was successfully applied as a T_(1)/T_(2)-weighted magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)contrast agent due to the existence of Gd,Mn,and Fe elements.In light of the upconversion luminescence(UCL)imaging from the UCNPS as well as potential PTT,PDT,CDT effect mentioned above,this work provides a possibility to realize cancer multi-model bioimaging guided treatment by using an all-in-one diagnosis and therapy nanosystem through a simple yet powerful strategy. | Hongyu Liu Jiabei Li Pengfei Hu Songqiang Sun Liyi Shi Lining Sun | 2022 | Journal of Rare Earths2022,40,1: | 1 |

| 16 | Extraction Difficulty of Lithium Ions from Various Crystal Planes of Lithium Titanate显示文摘To study the extraction difficulty of lithium ions from various crystal planes of Li_2 TiO_3, according to the first principle, four representative crystal surfaces of Li_2TiO_3(precursor),(-133),(-206),(002) and(-131), were selected to establish a model and to calculate the surface energy, bond length and population using Materials Studio 5.5(MS 5.5). The results demonstrate that there is no direct relationship between the surface energy and the order of disappearance of the four diffraction peaks when lithium titanate is treated with hydrochloric acid, instead, the difficulty of Li^+ extraction from various crystal faces corresponds to the Li-O bond strength. Lithium ion is easy to remove from(-133) and(-206) due to the relatively weak Li-O bond strength. | 18 | Mechanism of Regional Subseasonal Precipitation in the Strongest and Weakest East Asian Summer Monsoon Subseasonal Variation Years显示文摘Using the National Center for Environment Prediction Climate Forecast System Reanalysis coupled dataset during 1979–2010,we selected four subseasonal indexes from the 16 East Asian Summer Monsoon(EASM)indexes to characterize the subseasonal variability of the entire EASM system.The strongest(1996)and weakest(1998)years of the subseasonal variation were revealed based on these subseasonal EASM indexes.Furthermore,three rainfall concentration areas were defined in East Asia,and these areas were dissected by the atmospheric midlatitude jet stream axis and the position of the Western North Pacific Subtropical High(WNPSH).Then,the subseasonal effects of the WNPSH,the South Asian High(SAH),the Mongolian Cyclone(MC),and the Boreal Summer Intraseasonal Oscillation(BSISO)on each rainfall concentration area were studied in the strongest and weakest subseasonal variation years of the EASM.During the summer of 1998,the WNPSH and the SAH were stable in the more southern region,which not only blocked the northward progression of the BSISO but also caused the MC to advance southward.Therefore,the summer of 1998 was the weakest subseasonal variability of the EASM,but with significant subseasonal precipitation episodes in the northern and central rainfall areas.However,in 1996,the BSISO repeatedly spread northward in the south rainfall area because of the weak intensities and northern positions of the WNPSH and the SAH,which caused significant subseasonal precipitation episodes.In addition,MC was blocked to the north of approximately 42°N with a weak subseasonal rainfall. | HU Haibo DENG Yuheng FANG Jiabei WANG Rongrong | 2022 | Journal of Ocean University of China2022,21,6: | 1 |
