| 3 | Traditional Chinese medicines and their active ingredients sensitize cancer cells to TRAIL-induced apoptosis显示文摘The rapidly developing resistance of cancers to chemotherapy agents and the severe cytotoxicity of such agents to normal cells are major stumbling blocks in current cancer treatments.Most current chemotherapy agents have significant cytotoxicity,which leads to devastating adverse effects and results in a substandard quality of life,including increased daily morbidity and premature mortality.The death receptor of tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand(TRAIL)can sidestep p53-dependent pathways to induce tumor cell apoptosis without damaging most normal cells.However,various cancer cells can develop resistance to TRAIL-induced apoptosis via different pathways.Therefore,it is critical to find an efficient TRAIL sensitizer to reverse the resistance of tumor cells to TRAIL,and to reinforce TRAIL’s ability to induce tumor cell apoptosis.In recent years,traditional Chinese medicines and their active ingredients have shown great potential to trigger apoptotic cell death in TRAIL-resistant cancer cell lines.This review aims to collate information about Chinese medicines that can effectively reverse the resistance of tumor cells to TRAIL and enhance TRAIL’s ability to induce apoptosis.We explore the therapeutic potential of TRAIL and provide new ideas for the development of TRAIL therapy and the generation of new anticancer drugs for human cancer treatment.This study involved an extensive review of studies obtained from literature searches of electronic databases such as Google Scholar and PubMed.'TRAIL sensitize'and'Chinese medicine'were the search keywords.We then isolated newly published studies on the mechanisms of TRAIL-induced apoptosis.The name of each plant was validated using certified databases such as The Plant List.This study indicates that TRAIL can be combined with different Chinese medicine components through intrinsic or extrinsic pathways to promote cancer cell apoptosis.It also demonstrates that the active ingredients of traditional Chinese medicines enhance the sensitivity of cancer cells to TRAIL-mediated apoptosis.This provides useful information regarding traditional Chinese medicine treatment,the development of TRAIL-based therapies,and the treatment of cancer. | Bingyu SUN Yongqiang LIU Danhua HE Jinke LI Jiawei WANG Wulin WENS Ming HONG | 2021 | Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2021,22,3: | 3 |
| 4 | Photothermal and pH dual-responsive self-healing coating for smart corrosion protection显示文摘A novel self-healing coating with photothermal and pH dual-responsive properties has been designed to protect carbon steel against corrosion by loading the stimuli-responsive microcapsules into a shape memory epoxy coating. The sandwich-like microcapsules were based on reduced graphene oxide/mesoporous silica(r GO@MS) assembled with a p H-responsive poly(N,N-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate)(PDMAEMA) layer, and were loaded with benzotriazole(BTA) inhibitors(abbreviated as rGO@MS-P-BTA). Under near-infrared(NIR) light irradiation, the prominent photothermal effect of rGO could not only elevate the coating temperature to activate the shape memory effect and close the coating scratch, but also facilitate the release of corrosion inhibitors to suppress the corrosion activity. Moreover,the PDMAEMA as a p H-driven “gatekeeper” realized the controlled release of BTA from microcapsules at acid conditions. The surface morphology analysis, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS), and scanning electrochemical microscopy(SECM) were performed to evaluate the self-healing performance of the composite coatings. | 8 | Conversion of mouse fibroblasts into oligodendrocyte progenitor-like cells through a chemical approach显示文摘Transplantation of oligodendrocyte progenitor cells (OPCs) is a promising way for treating demyelinating diseases. However, generation of scalable and autologous sources of OPCs has proven difficult. We previously established a chemical condition M9 that could specifically initiate neural program in mouse embryonic fibroblasts. Here we found that M9 could induce the formation of colonies that undergo mesenchymal-to-epithelial transition at the early stage of reprogramming. These colonies may represent unstable and neural lineage-restricted intermediates that have not established a neural stem cell identity. By modulating the culture signaling recapitulating the principle of OPC development, these intermediate cells could be reprogrammed towards OPC fate. The chemical-induced OPC-like cells (ciOPLCs) resemble primary neural stem cell-derived OPCs in terms of their morphology, gene expression, and the ability of self-renewal. Upon differentiation, ciOPLCs could produce functional oligodendrocytes and myelinate the neuron axons in vitro, validating their OPC identity molecularly and functionally. | 15 | Towards Efficient Blue DelayedFluorescence Molecules by Modulating Torsion Angle Between Electron Donor and Acceptor显示文摘Constructing blue thermally activated delayedfluorescence materials for high-performance organic light-emitting diodes(OLEDs)remains challenging due to the intrinsically strong intramolecular charge transfer nature of the nearly orthogonal connection of electron donor(D)and acceptor(A),which results in long-wavelength emission.Herein,an effective delayed-fluorescence design strategy of modulating D–A torsion angles is proposed and efficient sky-blue,pure-blue,and deep-blue delayed-fluorescence molecules consisting of a xanthenone acceptor and carbazole-based donors are created by decreasing the torsion angles.They exhibit strong delayed fluorescence with high photoluminescence quantum yields of 85–94%in doped films,and their delayed-fluorescence lifetimes are elongated from 1.0 to 27.6μs as the torsion angles decrease.These molecules can function as excellent emitters in OLEDs,providing efficient electroluminescence peaking at 442 nm(CIEx,y=0.15,0.08),462 nm(CIEx,y=0.15,0.18),and 482 nm(CIEx,y=0.17,0.30)with state-of-the-art external quantum efficiencies of up to 22.2%,33.7%,and 32.1%,respectively,demonstrating the proposed molecular design for efficient blue delayed-fluorescence molecules is successful and promising. | Jinke Chen Xing Wu Hao Liu Nuoling Qiu Zhangshan Liu Dezhi Yang Dongge Ma Ben Zhong Tang Zujin Zhao | 2023 | CCS Chemistry2023,5,3: | 0 |
| 16 | Celebrity and ordinary users: A comparative study of microblog user behaviors on Sina Weibo显示文摘Purpose: This study aims to investigate and compare celebrity and ordinary users' behaviors on Sina Weibo.Design/methodology/approach: Data was collected from 12,555 ordinary users and 2,467 celebrity users on Sina Weibo. Correlation and regression analysis was performed on users' number of followings, number of followers and number of posts.Findings: The results revealed significant difference between famous and ordinary users' behaviors on Sina Weibo. We found correlation among ordinary users' number of followings, number of followers and number of posts, but for celebrity users, only their number of followings and number of posts are related with each other. For both ordinary and celebrity users, their number of followings significantly affects how many posts they publish.Research limitations: We only carried out our investigation on Sina Weibo and the findings need to be further verified on other microblogging platforms. | 17 | SUMOylation of α-tubulin is a novel modification regulating microtubule dynamics显示文摘Microtubules (MTs) are regulated by a number of known posttranslational modifications (PTMs) on α/β-tubulin to fulfill diverse cellular functions. Here, we showed that SUMOylation is a novel PTM on α-tubulin in vivo and in vitro. The SUMOylation on α-tubulin mainly occurred at Lys 96 (K96), K166, and K304 of soluble α-tubulin and could be removed by small ubiquitin-related modifier (SUMO)-specific peptidase 1. In vitro experiments showed that tubulin SUMOylation could reduce interprotofilament interaction, promote MT catastrophe, and impede MT polymerization. In cells, mutation of the SUMOylation sites on α-tubulin reduced catastrophe frequency and increased the proportion of polymerized α-tubulin, while upregulation of SUMOylation with fusion of SUMO1 reduced α-tubulin assembly into MTs. Additionally, overexpression of SUMOylation-deficient α-tubulin attenuated the neurite extension in Neuro-2a cells. | 20 | Geochronology,Geochemistry,and Sr-Nd-Hf Isotopes of the Diorite Porphyrites from the Weining Beishan Area,Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region:Constraints on Their Source and Tectonic Implications显示文摘The Weining Beishan area of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region is located at on the western edge of the Helanshan tectonic belt,which is a tectonic joint among Alxa Block,Ordos Block,and North Qilian orogenic belt.However,the tectonic evolution of this area remains unclear due to the lack of magmatic information.This paper conducted researches on geochronology,geochemistry,and Sr-Nd-Hf isotopes of the diorite porphyrites exposed in the Weining Beishan area.The zircon U-Pb dating yields two ages of 145.0±1.1 and 146.2±1.5 Ma,and the whole-rock geochemical data indicate that the diorite porphyrites are metaluminous to weakly peraluminous and high-K calc-alkaline series.The characteristics of highly initial^(87)Sr/^(86)Sr ratios(0.70816 to 0.71047),negativeε_(Nd)(t)(−8.9 to−8.4),and negativeε_(Hf)(t)(−13.8 to−21.2)indicate that the diorite porphyrites originated from partial melting of the middle-lower ancient crust related to the North China Craton.Combined with the regional geology,we suggested that partial melting was triggered by a tectonic activity of deep faults cutting through the crust under the regional stress transformation from compressing to extension during the Late Jurassic–Early Cretaceous,which is probably related to the westward subduction of the Paleo-Pacific Plate. | Anlu Liu Lianfu Hai Jinke Liu Xiaojun Zhang Haifeng Li Fengshun Zhao Guoliang Zhao Jinhe Bai | 2024 | Journal of Earth Science2024,35,2: | 0 |
