Factors Affecting Sensory Quality of Cooked japonica Rice显示文摘The sensory quality of cooked rice is an important factor in determining its market price, as well as consumer acceptance and breeding efforts aimed at improvement of rice grain quality. In this study, the sensory quality and physicochemical properties of three japonica rice varieties harvested in two different growing locations(Xiangshui and Hangzhou of China) were compared to determine the most important factors affecting the sensory quality. All the three varieties had higher scores for overall sensory quality in Xiangshui than in Hangzhou, indicating that the growing location is a key factor in determining the sensory quality of cooked japonica rice. In addition to growing location, variety(genotype) also had an important effect. Longdao 18 scored the highest for overall sensory quality in the two locations, whereas Longdao 30 had the lowest score in Xiangshui, and both Longdao 20 and Longdao 30 had the lowest scores in Hangzhou. Many physicochemical properties, such as apparent amylose content, protein content, thermal properties and free amino acid contents, showed significant differences between the two locations. Correlation analysis showed that apparent amylose content and protein content had contrasting effects on all the sensory attributes. The overall sensory quality was negatively correlated with protein content(r =-0.89, P < 0.01) and positively correlated with gel hardness(r = 0.91, P < 0.01),indicating that the protein content and hardness are important physicochemical properties for predicting the sensory quality of japonica rice. These findings will provide guidance for selection from the diverse genotypes available to develop new varieties with the desired eating and cooking quality.XU Yanjie YING Yining OUYANG Shuhong DUAN Xiaoliang SUN Hui JIANG Shukun SUN Shichen BAO Jinsong 2018Rice science2018,25,6:23
Rapid genomic changes in polyploid wheat and related species:implications for genome evolution and genetic improvement显示文摘A polyploid organism by possessing more than two sets of chromosomes from one species (autopolyploidy) or two or more species (allopolyploidy) is known to have evolutionary advantages. However, by what means a polyploid accommodates increased genetic dosage or divergent genomes (allopolyploidy) in one cell nucleus and cytoplasm constitutes an enormous challenge. Recent years have witnessed efforts and progress in exploring the possible mechanisms by which these seemingly intangible hurdles of polyploidy may be ameliorated or eventually overcome. In particular, the documentation of rapid and extensive non-Mendelian genetic and epigenetic changes that often accompany nascent polyploidy is revealing: the resulting non-additive and novel gene expression at global, regional and local levels, and timely restoration of meiotic chromosomal behavior towards bivalent pairing and disomic inheritance may ensure rapid establishment and stabilization as well as its long-term evolutionary success. Further elucidation on these novel mechanisms underpinning polyploidy will promote our understanding on fundamental issues in evolutionary biology and in our manipulation capacities in future genetic improvement of important crops that are currently polyploids in genomic constitution. This review is intended to provide an updated discussion on these interesting and important issues within the scope of a specific yet one of the most important plant groups-polyploid wheat and its related species.Bao Liu Chunming Xu Na Zhao Bao Qi Josphert N. 3Quantitative Trait Loci for Panicle Layer Uniformity Identified in Doubled Haploid Lines of Rice in Two Environments显示文摘Uniformity of stem height in rice directly affects crop yield potential and appearance, and has become a vital index for rice improvement. In the present study,a doubled haploid(DH) population, derived from a cross between japonica rice Chunjiang 06 and indica rice TN1 was used to analyze the quantitative trait locus(QTL) for three related traits of paniclelayer-uniformity;that is,the tallest panicle height, the lowest panicle height and panicle layer disuniformity in two locations:Hangzhou(HZ) and Hainan(HN).A total of 16 QTLs for three traits distributed on eight chromosomes were detected in two different environments. Two QTLs,qTPH-4 and qTPH-8 were co-located with the QTLs for qLPH-4 and qLPH-8,which were only significant in the HZ environment, whereas the qTPH-6 and qLPH-6 located at the same interval were only significant in the HN environment. Two QTLs,qPLD-10-1 and qPLD-10-2,were closely linked to qTPH-10,and they might have been at the same locus. One QTL,qPLD-3,was detected in both environments, explaining more than 23% of the phenotypic variations. The CJ06 allele of qPLD-3 could increase the panicle layer disuniformity by 9.23 and 4.74 cm in the HZ and HN environments.Except for qPLD-3,almost all other QTLs for the same trait were detected only in one environment, indicating that these three traits were dramatically affected by environmental factors. The results may be useful for elucidation of the molecular mechanism of panicle-layer-uniformity and marker assisted breeding for super-rice.Liangyong Ma Jinsong Bao Longbiao Guo Dali Zeng Ximing Li Zhijuan Ji Yingwu Xia Changdeng Yang Qian Qian 2009Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2009,51,9:7
Dosage effect of multiple genes accounts for multisystem disorder of myotonic dystrophy type 1显示文摘Multisystem manifestations in myotonic dystrophy type 1(DM1)may be due to dosage reduction in multiple genes induced by aberrant expansion of CTG repeats in DMPK,including DMPK,its neighboring genes(SIX5 or DMWD)and downstream MBNLh However, direct evidence is lacking. Here,we develop a new strategy to generate mice carrying multigene heterozygous mutations to mimic dosage reduction in one step by injection of haploid embryonic stem cells with mutant Dmpk,Six5 and Mbnll into oocytes. The triple heterozygous mutant mice exhibit adult-onset DM1 phenotypes. With the additional mutation in Dmwd, the quadruple heterozygous mutant mice recapitulate many major manifestations in congenital DM1.Moreover,muscle stem cells in both models display reduced sternness, providing a unique model for screening small molecules for treatment of DM1.Our results suggest that the complex symptoms of DM1 result from the reduced dosage of multiple genes.Qi Yin Hongye Wang Na Li Yifu Ding Zhenfei Xie Lifang Jin Yan Li Qiong Wang Xinyi Liu Liuqing Xu Qing Li Yongjian Ma Yanbo Cheng Kai Wang Cuiqing Zhong Qian Yu Wei Tang Wanjin Chen Wenjun Yang Fan Zhang Chen Ding Lan Bao Bin Zhou Ping Hu Jinsong Li 2020Cell Research2020,30,2:7

Starch RVA profile parameters of rice are mainly controlled by Wx gene显示文摘Quantitative trait locus (QTLs) mapping for rapid visco analyser (RVA) profile parameters has been carried out by using a double haploid (DH) population derived from a cross between indica variety Zhai-Ye-Qing 8 and j’aponica variety Jing-Xi 17 and its genetic linkage map. The results indicate that the segregation of the RVA profiles is continually distributed a-mong the DH lines, and some DH lines show transgressive segregation for all the parameters.Jinsong Bao Ping He Yingwu Xia Ying Chen Lihuang Zhu 1999Chinese Science Bulletin1999,44,22:3
Expression Profiles and Protein Complexes of Starch Biosynthetic Enzymes from White-Core and Waxy Mutants Induced from High Amylose Indica Rice显示文摘Physicochemical properties of endosperm starches in milled rice determine its cooking and eating quality.Amylose is synthesized by granule-bound starch synthase I(GBSSI),whilst amylopectin is synthesized by the synergistic activities of starch synthases(SSs),branching enzymes(BEs)and debranching enzymes(DBEs).However, the complexes formed by starch biosynthetic enzymes are not well characterized.Gene expression profiles and protein complexes were determined in white-core(GM645)and waxy(GM077)mutants derived from a high amylose indica rice Guangluai 4(GLA4).In GM645,genes including AGPS1,GBSSI,SSIIa,BEI,BEIIa,BEIIb,PUL,ISA1 and SP were significantly downregulated during seed development. In GM077,the expression levels of AGPL2,AGPS1,AGPS2b,SSIIIa,BEI,PUL and ISA1 were significantly upregulated.Co-immunoprecipitation assays revealed interactions of SSs-BEs,SSs-PUL and BEs-PUL in developing seeds. However, weak SSI-SSIIa interaction was detected in GM077,whilst SSI-PUL interaction was absent.Weak interaction signals for SSI-SSIIa,SSIIa-BEI,SSIIa-BEIIb,BEI-BEIIb and SSI-BEI were also observed in GM645.These results suggest that the protein-protein interactions for starch biosynthesis are modified in mutants, which provides insight into the mechanisms of starch biosynthesis, particularly in indica rice.CHEN Yaling PANG Yuehan BAO Jinsong 2020Rice science2020,27,2:2
Mapping QTLs for heading synchrony in a doubled haploid population of rice in two environments显示文摘Simultaneous heading of plants within the same rice variety, also refer to heading synchrony, is an important factor that affects simultaneous ripening of the variety. Understanding of the genetic basis of heading synchrony may contribute to molecular breeding of rice with simultaneous heading and ripening. In the present study, a doubled haploid (DH) population, derived from a cross between Chunjiang 06 and TN1 was used to analyze quantitative trait locus (QTL) for heading synchrony related traits, i.e., early heading date (EHD), late heading date (LHD), heading asynchrony (HAS), and tiller number (PN). A total of 19 QTLs for four traits distributed on nine chromosomes were detected in two environments. One QTL, qHAS-8 for HAS, explained 27.7% of the phenotypic variation, co-located with the QTLs for EHD and LHD, but it was only significant under long-day conditions in Hangzhou, China. The other three QTLs, qHAS-6, qHAS-9, and qHAS-10, were identified under short-day conditions in Hainan, China, each of which explained about 11% of the phenotypic variation. Two of them, qHAS-6 and qHAS-9, were co-located with the QTLs for EHD and LHD. Two QTLs, qPN-4 and qPN-5 for PN, were detected in Hangzhou, and qPN-5 was also detected in Hainan. However, none of them was co-located with QTLs for EHD, LHD, and HAS, suggesting that PN and HAS were controlled by different genetic factors. The results of this study can be useful in marker assisted breeding for improvement of heading synchrony.Liangyong Ma Changdeng Yang Dali Zeng Jing Cai Ximing Li Zhijuan Ji Yingwu Xia Qian Qian Jinsong Bao 2009Journal of Genetics and Genomics2009,36,5:2
APOBEC3B and IL-6 form a positive feedback loop in hepatocellular carcinoma cells显示文摘APOBEC3 protein families, a DNA cytidine deaminase, were up-regulated in multiple tumors. However, the relationship between Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) and APOBEC3B(A3B) remains unknown. It has been confirmed that interleukin-6(IL-6)has significant impacts on oncogenesis of HCC. Here, we reported that the expression of IL-6 was substantially up-regulated by A3 B in HepG2 cells. A3 B induced IL-6 expression through relocating HuR to enhance the IL-6 mRNA stability. Further analysis indicated that IL-6 also increased the expression of A3 B through JAK1/STAT3 signaling pathway, which formed a positive feedback to maintain the continuous expression of A3 B and IL-6, and thereby promoted the prolonged non-resolving inflammation. Collectively, these findings suggest that A3 B is essential for oncogenesis of HCC, and is a potential target for preventive intervention.Shuran Li Xueyang Bao Duowei Wang Linjun You Xianjing Li Hongbao Yang Jinsong Bian Yun Wang Yong Yang 2017Science China(Life Sciences)2017,60,6:2
Real-time task processing method based on edge computing for spinning CPS显示文摘Spinning production is a typical continuous manufacturing process characterized by high speed and uncertain dynamics. Each manufacturing unit in spinning production produces various real-time tasks, which may affect production efficiency and yam quality if not processed in time. This paper presents an edge computing- based method that is different from traditional centralized cloud computation because its decentralization characteristics meet the high-speed and high-response requirements of yam production. Edge computing nodes, real-time tasks, and edge computing resources are defined. A system model is established, and a real-time task processing method is proposed for the edge computing scenario. Experimental results indicate that the proposed real-time task processing method based on edge computing can effectively solve the delay problem of real-time task processing in spinning cyber-physical systems, save bandwidth, and enhance the security of task transmission.Shiyong YIN Jinsong BAO Jie LI Jie ZHANG 2019Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering2019,14,3:2
