1Admission clinical characteristics and early clinical outcomes among acute ischemic stroke patients显示文摘The purpose of the present study was to investigate the association between admission clinical characteristics and outcomes at discharge among acute ischemic stroke patients in the Chinese population.A total of 2,673 patients with acute ischemic stroke were included in the present study.The clinical characteristics at admission and other study variables were collected for all patients.The study outcome was defined as neurological deficiency(National Institute of Health Stroke Scale score ≥ 10) at discharge or in-hospital death.Compared with the subjects without neurological deficiency at discharge or in-hospital death,the subjects with neurological deficiency at discharge or in-hospital death had a significantly higher prevalence of hyperglycemia or history of atrial fibrillation at admission.Age≥ 80 years,hyperglycemia,hypertension,and history of atrial fibrillation were significantly associated with neurological deficiency at discharge or in-hospital death after adjustment for other variables.It is concluded that old age(≥ 80 years),hyperglycemia,hypertension and history of atrial fibrillation are significantly associated with neurological deficiency at discharge or in-hospital death among patients with acute ischemic stroke.Xin Gao Jintao Zhang Ying Peng Huanqing Fan Mei Chen Tan Xu Yonghong Zhang 2012The Journal of Biomedical Research2012,26,3:13
2Suppression or knockout of SaF/SaM overcomes the Sa-mediated hybrid male sterility in rice显示文摘Hybrids between the indica and japonica subspecies of rice(Oryza sativa) are usually sterile, which hinders utilization of heterosis in the inter-subspecific hybrid breeding. The complex locus Sa comprises two adjacently located genes, SaF and SaM, which interact to cause abortion of pollen grains carrying the japonica allele in japonica-indica hybrids. Here we showed that silencing of SaF or SaM by RNA interference restored male fertility in indica-japonica hybrids with heterozygous Sa. We further used clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats(CRISPR)/Cas9-based genome editing to knockout the SaF and SaM alleles, respectively, of an indica rice line to create hybrid-compatible lines. The resultant artificial neutral alleles did not affect pollen viability and other agricultural traits, but did break down the reproductive barrier in the hybrids. We found that some rice lines have natural neutral allele Sa-n, which was compatible with the typical japonica or indica Sa alleles in hybrids. Our results demonstrate that SaF and SaM are required for hybrid male sterility, but are not essential for pollen development. 4Effects of Dietary Stachyose on Growth Performance, Digestive Enzyme Activities and Intestinal Morphology of Juvenile Turbot(Scophthalmus maximus L)显示文摘A 12-week feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary stachyose on the growth performance, digestive enzymes activities and intestinal structures of juvenile turbot(Scophthalmus maximus L). Five isonitrogenous(49.58% crude protein) and isolipidic(10.50% crude lipid) diets were formulated to contain 0(Control), 0.625%(S-0.625), 1.25%(S-1.25), 2.5%(S-2.5) and 5%(S-5) stachyose, respectively. With the increase of stachyose level, the growth performance and feed utilization of turbot, such as the specific growth rate, final mean body weight, weight gain rate and feed efficiency, increased significantly(P < 0.05) and then stabilized. The feed intake of fish fed S-5 was significantly higher(P < 0.05) than that of fish in other groups. The activities of trypsin, intestinal caseinolytic, stomach and intestinal amylase were significantly influenced by stachyose(P < 0.05). The highest values of trypsin and intestinal caseinolytic activities were observed in group S-1.25, while the highest activity of stomach amylase and the lowest activity of intestine amylase were observed in group S-5. No lesion or damage was found on the distal intestine structures of fish from all treatments, while the height of simple folds in the distal intestine was significantly increased(P< 0.05) when 1.25% or 2.5% stachyose was added in the diets. 5Supplemental magnolol or honokiol attenuates adverse effects in broilers infected with Salmonella pullorum by modulating mucosal gene expression and the gut microbiota显示文摘Background:Salmonella pullorum is one of the most harmful pathogens to avian species.Magnolol and honokiol,natural compounds extracted from Magnolia officinalis,exerts anti-inflammatory,anti-oxidant and antibacterial activities.This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary supplemental magnolol and honokiol in broilers infected with S.pullorum.A total of 360 one-day-old broilers were selected and randomly divided into four groups with six replicates:the negative control group(CTL),S.pullorum-infected group(SP),and the S.pulloruminfected group supplemented with 300 mg/kg honokiol(SPH)or magnolol(SPM).Results:The results showed that challenging with S.pullorum impaired growth performance in broilers,as indicated by the observed decreases in body weight(P<0.05)and average daily gains(P<0.05),along with increased spleen(P<0.01)and bursa of Fabricus weights(P<0.05),serum globulin contents,and the decreased intestine villus height and villus/crypt ratios(P<0.05).Notably,supplemental magnolol and honokiol attenuated these adverse changes,and the effects of magnolol were better than those of honokiol.Therefore,we performed RNA-Seq in ileum tissues and 16S rRNA gene sequencing of ileum bacteria.Our analysis revealed that magnolol increased the α-diversity(observed species,Chao1,ACE,and PD whole tree)and β-diversity of the ileum bacteria(P<0.05).In addition,magnolol supplementation increased the abundance of Lactobacillus(P<0.01)and decreased unidentified Cyanobacteria(P<0.05)both at d 14 and d 21.Further study confirmed that differentially expressed genes induced by magnolol and honokiol supplementation enriched in cytokine-cytokine receptor interactions,in the intestinal immune network for IgA production,and in the cell adhesion molecule pathways.Conclusions:Supplemental magnolol and honokiol alleviated S.pullorum-induced impairments in growth performance,and the effect of magnolol was better than that of honokiol,which could be partially due to magnolol’s ability to improve the intestinal microbial and mucosal barrier.Fang Chen Hao Zhang Encun Du Qiwen Fan Na Zhao Feng Jin Wei Zhang Wanzheng Guo Shaowen Huang Jintao Wei 2022Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2022,13,1:9

7Effects of Yishendaluo decoction on axonal degeneration,inflammatory reaction,and neurological function in a mouse model of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis显示文摘<正>BACKGROUND:Yishendaluo decoction reduces production of inflammatory mediators,relieves damage due to inflammatory reactions,and improves neural functions during experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effects of Yishendaluo decoction on a mouse model of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis. DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:The randomized,controlled,neuropathological,and molecular biological animal study was performed at the Key Laboratory of Chinese Internal Medicine,Ministry of Education,Dongzhimen Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and Center for Neuroinformatics,General Hospital of Chinese PLA from 2005 to 2006. MATERIALS:Yishendaluo decoction pieces consisting of prepared rehmannia root,colla cornus cervi,cape jasmine fruit,and grassleaf sweetflag rhizome were purchased from the Dongzhimen Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine.Rabbit anti-mouseβ-amyloid precursor protein and p38 polyclonal antibody(Zhongshan Goldenbridge Biotechnology,China),as well interferon-γand interleukin-4 ELISA kit(Boster,China),were used in this study. METHODS:A total of 96 healthy,female,SJL/J mice,aged 8-12 weeks,were equally and randomly assigned to normal,model,hormone,and Chinese medicine groups.A total of 0.2 mL antigen preparation,supplemented with 150μg PLP139-151 and 400μg H37RA,was subcutaneously injected into the upper abdomen of mice from the model,hormone,and Chinese medicine groups. Mouse models of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis were established by intravenous injection of 0.1 mL Bordetella pertussis solution containing 0.6×10~6 Bordetella pertussis at days 1 and 3.Mice from the model,Chinese medicine,and hormone groups were respectively subjected to 0.2 mL saline,2 g/kg Yishendaluo decoction,and 0.078 mg/kg prednisone acetate,once daily for 14 consecutive days.Mice from the normal group were left intact. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:Pathological changes were observed using hematoxylin-eosin staining and Luxol fast blue staining.Expression ofβ-amyloid precursor protein and p38 protein was determined by immunohistochemistry.Levels of interferon-γand interleukin-4 were detected by ELISA.Behavioral changes were assessed in mice according to scores of neurological function. RESULTS:A few inflammatory cell infiltration,nerve fiber breakage and slight demyelination were detected in the central nervous system of mice from the Chinese medicine and hormone groups compared with the model group.Expression ofβ-amyloid precursor protein and p38 protein was significantly diminished in the central nervous system of mice from the Chinese medicine and hormone groups compared with the model group(P<0.05 or P<0.01),and the decrease was greatest in the Chinese medicine group.The decrease in mouse weight was not significant,and neurological function scores were less in the Chinese medicine and hormone groups compared with the model group(P<0.05 or P<0.01).Interferon-γlevels were significantly reduced(P<0.01),and interleukin-4 levels were significantly increased(P<0.01) in the brains of the Chinese medicine and hormone groups,compared with the model group. 8A highly reversible dendrite-free Zn anode via spontaneous galvanic replacement reaction for advanced zinc-iodine batteries显示文摘Rechargeable aqueous zinc-iodine batteries have received extensive attention due to their inherent advantages such as low cost,flame retardancy and safety.To address the safety concern associated with Zn dendrites,tin functional layer is introduced to the Zn surface via a spontaneous galvanic replacement reaction.This provides rapid deposition kinetics,thereby achieving the uniform Zn plating/stripping with a low overpotential(13.9 mV)and good stability for over 900 h.Importantly,the coupling of the advanced Zn anode with iodine in Zn-I_(2)battery exhibits a high specific capacity of 196.4 mAh·g^(−1)with high capacity retention(90.7%).This work provides a reliable strategy to regulate the reversible redox of zinc for advanced rechargeable batteries.Yadong Tian Song Chen Yulong He Qianwu Chen Lili Zhang Jintao Zhang 2022Nano Research Energy2022,1,3:5

10Amplitude of sensory nerve action potential in early stage diabetic peripheral neuropathy:an analysis of 500 cases显示文摘Early diagnosis of diabetic peripheral neuropathy is important for the successful treatment of diabetes mellitus. In the present study, we recruited 500 diabetic patients from the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University in China from June 2008 to September 2013: 221 cases showed symptoms of peripheral neuropathy(symptomatic group) and 279 cases had no symptoms of peripheral impairment(asymptomatic group). One hundred healthy control subjects were also recruited. Nerve conduction studies revealed that distal motor latency was longer, sensory nerve conduction velocity was slower, and sensory nerve action potential and amplitude of compound muscle action potential were significantly lower in the median, ulnar, posterior tibial and common peroneal nerve in the diabetic groups compared with control subjects. Moreover, the alterations were more obvious in patients with symptoms of peripheral neuropathy. Of the 500 diabetic patients, neural conduction abnormalities were detected in 358 cases(71.6%), among which impairment of the common peroneal nerve was most prominent. Sensory nerve abnormality was more obvious than motor nerve abnormality in the diabetic groups. The amplitude of sensory nerve action potential was the most sensitive measure of peripheral neuropathy. 11A flexible solid-state supercapacitor based on graphene/polyaniline paper electrodes显示文摘The direct coating of graphene sheets obtained by electrochemical exfoliation on commercial paper renders the preparation of highly conductive flexible paper substrate for subsequent deposition of polyaniline (PANi) nanorods via electrochemical polymerization. The deposit ion of PANi can be well-controlled by adjusting the electrochemical polymerization time, leading to the formation of PANi coated graphene paper (PANi-GP). The as-prepared electrode exhibited high areal capacitance of 176 mF cm^-2 in three-electrode system at a current density of 0.2 mA cm^-2 which is around 10 times larger than that of pris-tine graphene paper due to the pseudocapacitive behavior of PANi. In-situ Raman test was used to determine the molecular changes during redox process of PANi. More importantly, all-solid-state symmetric capacitor assembled with two PANi-GP electrodes in a polymer electrolyte delivered an areal capacitanee of 123 mF cm^-2, corresponding to an areal energy density of 17.1 μWh cm^-2 and an areal power density of 0.25 mW cm^-2. The symmetric capacitor held a capacitive retention of 74.8% after 500 bending tests from 0 to 120°, suggesting the good flexibility and mechanical stability. 12JNK3 involvement in nerve cell apoptosis and neurofunctional recovery after traumatic brain injury显示文摘Increasing evidence has revealed that the activation of the JNK pathway participates in apoptosis of nerve cells and neurological function recovery after traumatic brain injury. However, which genes in the JNK family are activated and their role in traumatic brain injury remain unclear. Therefore, in this study, in situ end labeling, reverse transcription-PCR and neurological function assessment were adopted to investigate the alteration of JNK1, JNK2 and JNK3 gene expression in cerebral injured rats, and their role in cell apoptosis and neurological function restoration. Results showed that JNK3 expression significantly decreased at 1 and 6 hours and 1 and 7 days post injury, but that JNK1 and JNK2 expression remained unchanged. In addition, the number of apoptotic nerve cells surrounding the injured cerebral cortex gradually reduced over time post injury. The Neurological Severity Scores gradually decreased over 1, 3, 5, 14 and 28 days post injury. These findings suggested that JNK3 expression was downregulated at early stages of brain injury, which may be associated with apoptosis of nerve cells. 13Mesoscale fracture behavior of Longmaxi outcrop shale with different bedding angles:Experimental and numerical investigations显示文摘The mechanical properties and fracturing mechanism of shale containing beddings are critically important in shale gas exploitation and wellbore stability.To investigate the effects of shale bedding on crack behavior and fracturing mechanism,scanning electron microscope(SEM)with a loading system was employed to carry out three-point bending tests on Longmaxi outcrop shale.The crack initiation and propagation of Longmaxi shale were observed and recorded by taking photos during loading.The cracking paths were extracted to calculate the crack length through a MATLAB program.The peak load,fracture toughness and fracture energy all increase with the bedding angle from 0°to 90°.The crack length and energy were also found to increase with the bedding angle in the range of 0°-600 and then drop slightly.The fracturing mechanism of shale includes the main crack affected by the bedding angle and disturbed by randomly distributed particles.The main cracking path was accompanied by several microcrack branches which could form an interconnected crack system.When the main crack encounters larger sedimentary particles,it will deflect around the particles and then restore to the initial direction.A numerical technique using extended finite element method(XFEM)coupled with anisotropic cohesive damage criteria was developed,which is able to capture the dependence of crack propagations on bedding angle and sedimentary particles.This study sheds light on understanding and predicting mesoscale fracture behavior of shale with different bedding angles.Jianping Zuo Jingfang Lu Rojin Ghandriz Jintao Wang Yanhong Li Xiaoyan Zhang Jun Li Hongtao Li 2020Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2020,12,2:4
14Three-dimensional nitrogen and phosphorous Co-doped graphene aerogel electrocatalysts for efficient oxygen reduction reaction显示文摘The development of efficient electrocatalysts for oxygen reduction reaction(ORR) is of importance for fuel cells and metal-air batteries. Herein, three-dimensional nitrogen and phosphorous co-doped graphene aerogel(NPGA) was prepared via the pyrolysis of polyaniline(PANi) coated graphene oxide aerogel synthesized by oxidative polymerization of aniline on graphene oxide(GO) sheets in the presence of phytic acid. The uniform coating of PANi thin layer on the surface of GO sheets enables the formation of highly porous composite aerogel of PANi and GO. The subsequent thermal treatment is able to prepare the porous NPGA due to the carbonization of PANi and phytic acid as nitrogen and phosphorous resources. When used as electrocatalysts,the as-prepared NPGA electrocatalysts exhibited good catalytic activity to ORR via an efficient four-electron pathway with good stability, benefiting from the highly porous structure and the heteroatom co-doping. More importantly, Zn-air batteries operated in ambient air have been fabricated by coupling a Zn plate with the NPGA electrocatalyst in an air electrode, demonstrating the maximal power density as high as ~260 W/g and a good long-term stability with slightly potential decay for over 450 h. 15Structural engineering of transition metal-based nanostructured electrocatalysts for efficient water splitting显示文摘Water splitting is a highly promising approach for the generation of sustainable,clean hydrogen energy. Tremendous efforts have been devoted to exploring highly efficient and abundant metal oxide electrocatalysts for oxygen evolution and hydrogen evolution reactions to lower the energy consumption in water splitting.In this review,we summarize the recent advances on the development of metal oxide electrocatalysts with special emphasis on the structural engineering of nanostructures from particle size,composition,crystalline facet,hybrid structure as well as the conductive supports.The special strategies relay on the transformation from the metal organic framework and ion exchange reactions for the preparation of novel metal oxide nanostructures with boosting the catalytic activities are also discussed.The fascinating methods would pave the way for rational design of advanced electrocatalysts for efficient water splitting.Yueqing Wang Jintao Zhang 2018Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering2018,12,4:4
16Large eddies induced by local impulse at wall of boundary layer with pressure gradients显示文摘Large eddies induced by local impulse at the wall with pressure gradients in the boundary layer was studied by direct numerical sim- ulations. The results show that the amplitude evolution, the high and low speed stripes, the formation of streamwise vortices, the ejection and sweeping, inflexions and distortion at the mean velocity profiles, as well as other characteristics, are consistent with the experimental and other numerical results. It is also found that large eddies are easy to be excited with adverse pressure gradient in the boundary layer, and the growth of amplitudes, formation of streamwise vortices and the influencing area etc., are much larger than those with favorable pressure gradient in the boundary layer. 17Attention-Aware Heterogeneous Graph Neural Network显示文摘As a powerful tool for elucidating the embedding representation of graph-structured data,Graph Neural Networks(GNNs),which are a series of powerful tools built on homogeneous networks,have been widely used in various data mining tasks.It is a huge challenge to apply a GNN to an embedding Heterogeneous Information Network(HIN).The main reason for this challenge is that HINs contain many different types of nodes and different types of relationships between nodes.HIN contains rich semantic and structural information,which requires a specially designed graph neural network.However,the existing HIN-based graph neural network models rarely consider the interactive information hidden between the meta-paths of HIN in the poor embedding of nodes in the HIN.In this paper,we propose an Attention-aware Heterogeneous graph Neural Network(AHNN)model to effectively extract useful information from HIN and use it to learn the embedding representation of nodes.Specifically,we first use node-level attention to aggregate and update the embedding representation of nodes,and then concatenate the embedding representation of the nodes on different meta-paths.Finally,the semantic-level neural network is proposed to extract the feature interaction relationships on different meta-paths and learn the final embedding of nodes.Experimental results on three widely used datasets showed that the AHNN model could significantly outperform the state-of-the-art models.Jintao Zhang Quan Xu 2021Big Data Mining and Analytics2021,4,4:3
18Rational design of Cu-based electrocatalysts for electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide显示文摘The recent development of Cu-based electrocatalysts for electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide(CO_2) has attracted much attention due to their unique activity and selectivity compared to other metal catalysts. Particularly, Cu is the unique electrocatalyst for CO_2 electrochemical reduction with high selectivity to generate a variety of hydrocarbons. In this review, we mainly summarize the recent advances on the rational design of Cu nanostructures, the composition regulation of Cu-based alloys, and the exploitation of advanced supports for improving the catalytic activity and selectivity toward electrochemical reduction of CO_2. The special focus is to demonstrate how to enhance the activity and selectivity of Cubased electrocatalyst for CO_2 reduction. The perspectives and challenges for the development of Cu-based electrocatalysts are also addressed. 19Optimizational production of phenyllactic acid by a Lactobacillus buchneri strain via uniform design with overlay sampling methodology显示文摘A Lactobacillus buchneri GBS3 strain isolated from the traditional Chinese pickles was used for the production of 3-phenyllactic acid(PLA), an important compound with antimicrobial activities against a wide species of grampositive and gram-negative bacteria and some fungi. The growth performance of this strain in the de Man, Rogosa and Sharpe(MRS) medium, the production of metabolites of valuable organic acids, and the biosynthesis of PLA using this strain as the whole-cell biocatalyst and phenylpyruvic acid(PPA) as the precursor, were investigated experimentally. The uniform design method with overlay sampling was developed for the optimization of the biotransformation conditions. The results showed that although it produced naturally lactic acid with the maximum concentration of 1.84 g·L^(-1) and PLA with the concentration of 0.015 g·L^(-1) after 66 to 72 h cultivation in MRS broth by fermentation, the present strain displayed an effective utilization ability by transforming PPA to PLA. By the uniform design method with overlay sampling for the design and optimization of transformation conditions, a maximum yield of 10.93 g·L^(-1) PLA with the mole conversion ratio of 83.07% from PPA to PLA was achieved under the optimized condition, i.e., 20 g·L^(-1) glucose, 270 g·L^(-1) cells, 13 g·L^(-1) PPA, pH 8.0 and the reaction time of 15 h, indicating that Lactobacillus buchneri GBS3 was an interesting strain for the biosynthesis of PLA via the microbial transformation. The prediction of PLA yield under different conditions was achieved successfully based on the limited information of only a small number of experiments by the uniform design with overlay sampling. 20Bioinspired hybrid patches with self-adhesive hydrogel and piezoelectric nanogenerator for promoting skin wound healing显示文摘Wound management is a crucial measure for skin wound healing and is significantly important to maintaining the integrity of skins and their functions.Electrical stimulation at the wound site is a compelling strategy for skin wound repair.However,there has been an urgent need for wearable and point-of-care electrical stimulation devices that have self-adhesive and mechanical properties comparable to wound tissue.Herein,we develop a bioinspired hybrid patch with self-adhesive and piezoelectric nanogenerator(HPSP)for promoting skin wound healing,which is composed of a mussel-inspired hydrogel matrix and a piezoelectric nanogenerator based on aligned electrospun poly(vinylidene fluoride)nanofibers.The device with optimized modulus and permeability for skin wear can self-adhere to the wound site and locally produce a dynamic voltage caused by motion.We show that the HPSP not only promotes fibroblast proliferation and migration in vitro,but also effectively facilitates the collagen deposition,angiogenesis,and re-epithelialization in vivo with the increased expressions of crucial growth factors.The HPSP reduces the wound closure time of full-thickness skin defects by about 1/3,greatly accelerating the healing process.This patch can serve as wearable and real-time electrical stimulation devices,potentially useful in clinical applications of skin wound healing.Shuo Du Nuoya Zhou Yujie Gao Ge Xie Hongyao Du Hao Jiang Uanbin Zhang Juan Tao Jintao Zhu 2020Nano Research2020,13,9:3
