1Lactobacillus salivarius alleviates inflammation via NF-κB signaling in ETEC K88-induced IPEC-J2 cells显示文摘Background:Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli(ETEC)K88 commonly colonize in the small intestine and keep releasing enterotoxins to impair the intestinal barrier function and trigger inflammatory reaction.Although Lactobacillus salivarius(L.salivarius)has been reported to enhance intestinal health,it remains to be seen whether there is a functional role of L.salivarius in intestinal inflammatory response in intestinal porcine epithelial cell line(IPEC-J2)when stimulated with ETEC K88.In the present study,IPEC-J2 cells were first treated with L.salivarius followed by the stimulation of ETEC K88 for distinct time period.ETEC K88 adherent status,pattern recognition receptors(PRRs)mRNA,mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)and nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB)activation,the release of pro-inflammation cytokines and cell integrity were examined.Results:Aside from an inhibited adhesion of ETEC K88 to IPEC-J2 cells,L.salivarius was capable of remarkably attenuating the expression levels of interleukin(IL)-1β,tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),IL-8,Toll-like receptor(TLR)4,nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain(NOD)-like receptor pyrin domain-containing protein(NLRP)3 and NLRP6.This alternation was accompanied by a significantly decreased phosphorylation of p38 MAPK and p65 NF-κB during ETEC K88 infection with L.salivarius pretreatment.Western blot analysis revealed that L.salivarius increased the expression levels of zona occludens 1(ZO-1)and occludin(P<0.05)in ETEC K88-infected IPEC-J2 cells.Compared with ETEC K88-infected groups,the addition of L.salivarius as well as extra inhibitors for MAPKs and NF-κB to ETEC K88-infected IPEC-J2 cells had the capability to reduce pro-inflammatory cytokines.Conclusions:Collectively,our results suggest that L.salivarius might reduce inflammation-related cytokines through attenuating phosphorylation of p38 MAPK and blocking the NF-κB signaling pathways.Besides,L.salivarius displayed a potency in the enhancement of IPEC-J2 cell integrity.Jiayun Qiao Zeyang Sun Dongmei Liang Haihua Li 2021Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2021,12,2:11

3Natural selection maintains the transcribed LTR retrotransposons in Nosema bombycis显示文摘Eight intact LTR retrotransposons(Nbr1?Nbr8)have been previously characterized from the genome of Nosema bombycis,a eu-karyotic parasite with a compact and reduced genome.Here we describe six novel transcribed Nbr elements(Nbr9?Nbr14)identified through either cDNA library or RT-PCR.Like previously determined ones,all of them belong to the Ty3/Gypsy superfamily.Retrotransposon diversity and incomplete domains with insertions(Nbr12),deletions(Nbr11)and in-frame stop codons in coding regions(Nbr9)were detected,suggesting that both defective and loss events of LTR retrotransposon have happened in N.bombycis genome.Analysis of selection showed that strong purifying selection acts on all elements except Nbr11.This implies that selective pressure keeps both these Nbrs and their functions in genome.Interestingly,Nbr11 is under positive selection and some positively selected codons were identified,indicating that new functionality might have evolved in the Nbr11 retrotransposon.Unlike other transposable elements,Nbr11 has integrated into a conserved syntenic block and probably resulted in the inversion of both flanking regions.This demonstrates that transposable element is an important factor for the reshuffling and evolution of their host genomes,and may be maintained under natural selection.Heng Xiang Guoqing Pan Ruizhi Zhang Jinshan Xu Tian Li Wenle Li Zeyang Zhou Zhonghuai Xiang 2010Journal of Genetics and Genomics2010,37,5:7
4Analysis of cytochrome P450 genes in silkworm genome (Bombyx mori)显示文摘We have searched the Bombyx mori genome for members of the major enzyme family, the Cytochrome P450s, which carry out multiple reactions to enable organisms to rid themselves of foreign compounds. As a result, 86 putative P450s were discovered in silkworm genome, which are thought to belong to 32 subfamilies. A comparative genomic analysis with Drosophila melanogaster reveals that the two insects have some similar P450 distribution pat-terns but still have some obvious differences. Especially, the diverse distribution exists in 7 p450 subfamilies, which are CYP4A, CYP4C, CYP4D, CYP6A, CYP6AE, CYP6B and CYP9A. 6Metasurface-enabled augmented reality display: a review显示文摘Augmented reality(AR)display,which superimposes virtual images on ambient scene,can visually blend the physical world and the digital world and thus opens a new vista for human–machine interaction.AR display is considered as one of the next-generation display technologies and has been drawing huge attention from both academia and industry.Current AR display systems operate based on a combination of various refractive,reflective,and diffractive optical elements,such as lenses,prisms,mirrors,and gratings.Constrained by the underlying physical mechanisms,these conventional elements only provide limited light-field modulation capability and suffer from issues such as bulky volume and considerable dispersion,resulting in large size,severe chromatic aberration,and narrow field of view of the composed AR display system.Recent years have witnessed the emerging of a new type of optical elements—metasurfaces,which are planar arrays of subwavelength electromagnetic structures that feature an ultracompact footprint and flexible light-field modulation capability,and are widely believed to be an enabling tool for overcoming the limitations faced by current AR displays.Here,we aim to provide a comprehensive review on the recent development of metasurface-enabled AR display technology.We first familiarize readers with the fundamentals of AR display,covering its basic working principle,existing conventional-optics-based solutions,as well as the associated pros and cons.We then introduce the concept of optical metasurfaces,emphasizing typical operating mechanisms,and representative phase modulation methods.We elaborate on three kinds of metasurface devices,namely,metalenses,metacouplers,and metaholograms,which have empowered different forms of AR displays.Their physical principles,device designs,and the performance improvement of the associated AR displays are explained in details.In the end,we discuss the existing challenges of metasurface optics for AR display applications and provide our perspective on future research endeavors.Zeyang Liu Danyan Wang Hao Gao Moxin Li Huixian Zhou Cheng Zhang 2023Advanced Photonics2023,5,3:2
7Clinical characteristics and risk factors for mortality in cancer patients with COVID-19显示文摘Patients with cancer are at increased risk of severe infections.From a cohort including 3060 patients with confirmed COVID-19,109(3.4%)cancer patients were included in this study.Among them,23(21.1%)patients died in the hospital.Cancer patients,especially those with hematological malignancies(41.6%),urinary carcinoma(35.7%),malignancies of the digestive system(33.3%),gynecological malignancies(20%),and lung cancer(14.3%),had a much higher mortality than patients without cancer.A total of 19(17.4%)cancer patients were infected in the hospital.The clinical characteristics of deceased cancer patients were compared with those of recovered cancer patients.Multivariate Cox regression analysis indicated that a Nutritional Risk Screening(NRS2002)score≥3(adjusted hazard ratio(HR)11.00;95%confidence interval(CI)4.60–26.32;P<0.001),high-risk type(adjusted HR 18.81;95%CI 4.21–83.93;P<0.001),tumor stage IV(adjusted HR 4.26;95%CI 2.34–7.75;P<0.001),and recent adjuvant therapy(<1 month)(adjusted HR 3.16;95%CI 1.75–5.70;P<0.01)were independent risk factors for in-hospital death after adjusting for age,comorbidities,D-dimer,and lymphocyte count.In conclusion,cancer patients showed a higher risk of COVID-19 infection with a poorer prognosis than patients without cancer.Cancer patients with high-risk tumor,NRS2002 score≥3,advanced tumor stage,and recent adjuvant therapy(<1 month)may have high risk of mortality.Junnan Liang Guannan Jin Tongtong Liu Jingyuan Wen Ganxun Li Lin Chen Wei Wang Yuwei Wang Wei Liao Jia Song Zeyang Ding Xiao-ping Chen Bixiang Zhang 2021Frontiers of Medicine2021,15,2:2
8Solution-processable precursor route for fabricating ultrathin silica film for high performance and low voltage organic transistors显示文摘Silica is one of the most commonly used materials for dielectric layer in organic thin-film transistors due to its excellent stability, excellent electrical properties, mature preparation process, and good compatibility with organic semiconductors. However, most of conventional preparation methods for silica film are generally performed at high temperature and/or high vacuum. In this paper, we introduce a simple solution spin-coating method to fabricate silica thin film from precursor route, which possesses a low leakage current, high capacitance, and low surface roughness. The silica thin film can be produced in the condition of low temperature and atmospheric environment. To meet various demands, the thickness of film can be adjusted by means of preparation conditions such as the speed of spin-coating and the concentration of solution. The p-type and n-type organic field effect transistors fabricated by using this film as gate electrodes exhibit excellent electrical performance including low voltage and high performance. 15BmSE, a SINE family with 3′ ends of (ATTT) repeats in domesticated silkworm (Bombyx mori)显示文摘Short interspersed elements (SINEs), which are mainly composed of Bm1, are abundant in the domesticated silkworm. A 294 bp novel SINE family, designated as BmSE, was identified by mining the database of the complete Bombyx mori genome. A representational BmSE element is flanked by an 11 bp target site duplication sequence posterior poly (A) at the 3′ end and has the sequence motifs of an internal promoter of RNA polymerase III, which are similar to that of Bm1. The repetitive elements of BmSE are widely distributed in all 28 chromosomes of the genome and share the common (ATTT) repeats at the ends. GC-content distribution shows that BmSE tends to accumulate preferably in the region of higher AT content than that of Bm1. A high proportion of the BmSEs are mapped to the coding sequence introns, whereas several elements are also present in the UTR of some transcripts, indicating that BmSEs are indeed exonized with UTRs. Of the 615 identified structural variants (SVs) of BmSE among the 40 domesticated and wild silkworms, only 230 SVs were found in the domesticated silkworms, indicating that many recent SV events of BmSE occurred after domestication, which was probably due to its mobilization. 16Advances in the origin of overpressures in sedimentary basins显示文摘Much progress in the studies on overpressuring mechanisms has been made during the past one to two decades.(1)The causes of overpressure are divided into five categories,namely,disequilibrium compaction,fluid expansion,diagenesis,tectonic compression and pressure transfer.The fluid expansion involves hydrocarbon generation,oil cracking to gas and hydrothermal expansion.The diagenesis includes smectite-to-illite transformation.(2)Six methods for identifying overpressure origin are proposed,including log curves combination analysis,Bowers method(loading-unloading diagram),velocitydensity crossplotting,correlation of porosities,pressure calculation and correlation,and comprehensive analyses.(3)With more and more application of empirical methods in the study of overpressure formation,almost all of the overpressure cases that are traditionally thought to be caused by disequilibrium compaction are denied totally or partly.Instead,the hydrocarbon generation is demonstrated to be the most significant mechanism for overpressure formation;the clay diagenesis(especially the smectiteillite transformation)as well as tectonic compression and pressure transfer are also important for overpressure formation.In addition,the overpressure formation in many basins is thought to be influenced by the combination of two or more overpressuring mechanisms.(4)Causes of overpressuring differ in lithology;for mudstones,the overpressure formation in source rocks is usually different from that of non-source rocks,the former of which is frequently related to hydrocarbon generation and sometimes also affected by diagenesis,while the later of which is commonly related to disequilibrium compaction,diagenesis and pressure transfer;for permeable rocks such as sandstones,overpressure is mainly caused by pressure transfer.(5)Because organic matter has an obvious influence on logging parameters such as density and acoustic velocity,an appropriate correction on the content of organic matter is needed when these logging data are used to analyze overpressure formation in organic-rich mudstones.It has been revealed that the cause of overpressuring based on the corrected log data can be quite different from that without correction.Jingzhou Zhao Jun Li Zeyang Xu 2018Petroleum Research2018,3,1:0
17Design and validation of a navigation system of multimodal medical images for neurosurgery based on mixed reality显示文摘Purpose: This paper aims to develop a navigation system based on mixed reality, which can displaymultimodal medical images in an immersive environment and help surgeons locate the target areaand surrounding important tissues precisely.Methods: To be displayed properly in mixed reality, medical images are processed in this system.High-quality cerebral vessels and nerve fibers with proper colors are reconstructed and exported tomixed reality environment. Multimodal images and models are registered and fused, extracting theirkey information. The multiple processed images are fused with the real patient in the same coordinatesystem to guide the surgery.Results: The multimodal image system is designed and validated properly. In phantom experiments,the average error of preoperative registration is 1.003 mm and the standard deviation is 0.096 mm.The average proportion of well-registered areas is 94.9%. In patient experiments, the surgeons whoparticipated in the experiments generally indicated that the system had excellent performance andgreat application prospect for neurosurgery.Conclusion: This article proposes a navigation system of multimodal images for neurosurgery basedon mixed reality. 18A hybrid data-driven and mechanism-based method for vehicle trajectory prediction显示文摘Ensuring the safe and efficient operation of self-driving vehicles relies heavily on accurately predicting their future trajectories.Existing approaches commonly employ an encoder-decoder neural network structure to enhance information extraction during the encoding phase.However,these methods often neglect the inclusion of road rule constraints during trajectory formulation in the decoding phase.This paper proposes a novel method that combines neural networks and rule-based constraints in the decoder stage to improve trajectory prediction accuracy while ensuring compliance with vehicle kinematics and road rules.The approach separates vehicle trajectories into lateral and longitudinal routes and utilizes conditional variational autoencoder(CVAE)to capture trajectory uncertainty.The evaluation results demonstrate a reduction of 32.4%and 27.6%in the average displacement error(ADE)for predicting the top five and top ten trajectories,respectively,compared to the baseline method.Haoqi Hu Xiangming Xiao Bin Li Zeyang Zhang Lin Zhang Yanjun Huang Hong Chen 2023Control Theory and Technology2023,21,3:0
19Integrable high-efficiency generation of three-photon entangled states by a single incident photon显示文摘Generation of multi-photon entangled states with high efficiency in integrated photonic quantum systems is still a big challenge. The usual three-photon generation efficiency based on the third-order nonlinear effect is extremely low. Here, we propose a scheme to generate three-photon correlated states, which are entangled states in frequency space and bound states in real space, with high efficiency. This method relies on two crucial processes.On one hand, by employing a Sagnac interferometer, an incident photon can be transformed into a symmetric superposition of the clockwise and counterclockwise modes of the Sagnac loop, which can then be perfectly absorbed by the emitter. On the other hand, the coupling strengths of the two transition paths of the emitter to the Sagnac loop are set to be equal, under which the absorbed photon can be emitted completely from the cascaded transition path due to quantum interference. By adjusting the coupling strengths among the three transition paths of the emitter and the waveguide modes, we can control the spectral entanglement and spatial separation among the three photons.
