| 3 | Urban expansion in China and its effect on cultivated land before and after initiating'Reform and Open Policy'显示文摘Urbanization in China has expanded at an unprecedented speed since the declaration of 'Reform and Open Policy'and presented many challenges. Unbalanced regional development, appearance of super megacities and concomitant problems,and conflicts between urbanization and cultivated land protection are three critical problems that Chinese urbanization has to face. To develop new plans for foreseeable future urbanization in China, it is critical to understand the evolving history of cities across China. This study maps urban expansion of 60 typical Chinese cities based on large amount of remote sensing data and the labor-intensive image interpretation method, in order to understand the history of urban expansion from the 1970 s to 2013.Results showed that area of cities expanded 5.23 times compared to their area in the 1970 s. Urban expansion in China accelerated three times(1988–1996, 1999–2006, and 2009–2011) and decelerated three times(1997–1998, 2007–2008, and 2012–2013) over the 40 years. The urban area of South China expanded most significantly 9.42 times, while the urban area in Northeast China expanded only 2.37 times. The disparity among different administrative ranks of cities was even greater than(3.81 times) the differences among different regions. Super megacities have been continuously expanding at a fast rate(8.60-fold), and have not shown obvious signs of slowing down. The proportion of cultivated land among the land sources for urban expansion decreased to a small extent in the 1990 s, but cultivated land continues to be the major land source for urban expansion. | 4 | The efficacy and safety of nimodipine in acute ischemic stroke patients with mild cognitive impairment: a double-blind, randomized,placebo-controlled trial显示文摘Nimodipine might be effective in subcortical vascular dementia(VaD). Its benefit in preventing further cognitive decline in patients with acute ischemic stroke(AIS) and vascular mild cognitive impairment(VaMCI) remains to be established. In this multicenter, double-blind trial, we randomly assigned 654 eligible patients to nimodipine 30 mg three times a day or placebo. The primary outcome was any cognitive decline defined by the changes on the Mini-Mental State Examination(DMMSE à3) or vascular AD assessment scale cognitive subscale(DADAS-cog ! 4) at 6 months. Secondary outcomes included any distribution shift of DADAS-cog, DMMSE or cognitive improvement defined by DADAS-cog à2, or DMMSE ! 0. The primary outcome in the nimodipine group and placebo group were similar for DMMSE à3(4.18% and 7.22%, respectively, P = 0.15) and DADAS-cog ! 4(8.36% and 8.93% respectively,P = 0.88). The distribution shift of DADAS-cog and DMMSE differed significantly between the two groups(P = 0.03 and P = 0.05 respectively). Cognitive improvement occurred in 55.4% in the nimodipine group and 43.6% in the placebo group measured by DADAS-cog à2(Odds Ratio, 1.54; 95% confidence interval[CI] 1.10–2.14, P < 0.01) or 84.0% and 74.6% respectively by DMMSE ! 0(Odds Ratio, 1.79; 95% CI 1.18–2.70, P < 0.01). Nimodipine was associated with better cognitive function in the memory domain. The adverse events rate was similar in two groups. This study is registered with ClinicalTrials.gov,NCT01220622. | 5 | Study on Wave Dissipation of the Structure Combined by Baffle and Submerged Breakwater显示文摘This paper proposes a structure combined by baffle and submerged breakwater(abbreviated to SCBSB in the following texts). Such a combined structure is conducive to the water exchange in the harbor, and has strong capability on wave dissipation. Our paper focuses on the discussion of two typical structures, i.e., the submerged baffle and rectangular breakwater combined with the upper baffle respectively, which are named as SCBSB1 and SCBSB2 for short. The eigenfunction method corrected by experimental results is used to investigate the wave dissipation characteristics. | 7 | Exosomal microRNA-588 from M2 polarized macrophages contributes to cisplatin resistance of gastric cancer cells显示文摘BACKGROUND Gastric cancer is a prevalent malignant cancer with a high incidence and significantly affects the health of modern people globally.Cisplatin(DDP)is one of the most common and effective chemotherapies for patients with gastric cancer,but DDP resistance remains a severe clinical challenge.AIM To explore the function of M2 polarized macrophages-derived exosomal microRNA(miR)-588 in the modulation of DDP resistance of gastric cancer cells.METHODS M2 polarized macrophages were isolated and identified by specific markers using flow cytometry analysis.The exosomes from M2 macrophages were identified by transmission electron microscopy and related markers.The uptake of the PKH67-labelled M2 macrophages-derived exosomes was detected in SGC7901 cells.The function and mechanism of exosomal miR-588 from M2 macrophages in the modulation of DDP resistance of gastric cancer cells was analyzed by CCK-8 assay,apoptosis analysis,colony formation assay,Western blot analysis,qPCR analysis,and luciferase reporter assay in SGC7901 and SGC7901/DDP cells,and by tumorigenicity analysis in nude mice.RESULTS M2 polarized macrophages were isolated from mouse bone marrow stimulated with interleukin(IL)-13 and IL-4.Co-cultivation of gastric cancer cells with M2 polarized macrophages promoted DDP resistance.M2 polarized macrophagesderived exosomes could transfer in gastric cancer cells to enhance DDP resistance.Exosomal miR-588 from M2 macrophages contributed to DDP resistance of gastric cancer cells.miR-588 promoted DDP-resistant gastric cancer cell growth in vivo.miR-588 was able to target cylindromatosis(CYLD)in gastric cancer cells.The depletion of CYLD reversed miR-588 inhibition-regulated cell proliferation and apoptosis of gastric cancer cells exposed to DDP.CONCLUSION In conclusion,we uncovered that exosomal miR-588 from M2 macrophages contributes to DDP resistance of gastric cancer cells by partly targeting CYLD.miR-588 may be applied as a potential therapeutic target for the treatment of gastric cancer. | Hai-Yan Cui Jian-Sheng Rong Ju Chen Jie Guo Jia-Qin Zhu Mei Ruan Rong-Rong Zuo Shuang-Shuang Zhang Jun-Mei Qi Bao-Hua Zhang | 2021 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2021,27,36: | 2 |
