| 1 | Effect of a comprehensive therapy plus Gushenyutai plaster administered at Guanyuan(CV 4) on male infertility associated with semen non-liquefaction显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To observe the clinical effect of Gushenyutai plaster administered at the Guanyuan(CV4) acupoint on male infertility associated with semen non-liquefaction.METHODS: Sixty-two male patients with infertility caused by semen non-liquefaction were random-ized into a treatment and control group. The control group received comprehensive therapy, which included oral administration of clarithromycin sustained release tablets, hip bath with Zhongyaoxiaoyan granules, prostate massage, and transurethral microwave treatment. The treatment group was administered Gushenyutai plaster in addition to the comprehensive therapy. Both groups were treated for 8 weeks. | 2 | Improving the wind and wave estimation of dual-frequency altimeter JASON1 in Typhoon Shanshan and considering the rain effects显示文摘Altimetry data have been widely used in various fields of oceanography,including the extreme weather events such as tropical cyclones,typhoons,and hurricanes. The performance of JASON1 in Typhoon Shanshan is assessed by examining the sensor geophysical data record and illustrates how the measured return waveform,significant wave height,and backscatter are all affected by various factors associated with the typhoon,with details by the rain are illustrated. The correction method to maintain accurate wave height and wind speed measurements in Typhoon Shanshan and the results are presented. Furthermore,the additional results of rain rate and typhoon eye diameter can be retrieved. | 3 | Sea ice extent retrieval with HY-2A scatterometer data and its assessment显示文摘A sea ice extent retrieval algorithm over the polar area based on scatterometer data of HY-2A satellite has been established.Four parameters are used for distinguishing between sea ice and ocean with Fisher's linear discriminant analysis method.The method is used to generate polar sea ice extent maps of the Arctic and Antarctic regions of the full 2013–2014 from the scatterometer aboard HY-2A(HY-2A-SCAT) backscatter data.The time series of the ice mapped imagery shows ice edge evolution and indicates a similar seasonal change trend with total ice area from DMSP-F17 Special Sensor Microwave Imager/Sounder(SSMIS) sea ice concentration data.For both hemispheres,the HY-2A-SCAT extent correlates very well with SSMIS 15% extent for the whole year period.Compared with Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR) imagery,the HY-2A-SCAT ice extent shows good correlation with the Sentinel-1 SAR ice edge.Over some ice edge area,the difference is very evident because sea ice edges can be very dynamic and move several kilometers in a single day. | SHI Lijian LI Mingming ZHAO Chaofang WANG Zhixiong SHI Yingni ZOU Juhong ZENG Tao | 2017 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2017,36,8: | 5 |
| 4 | Hopf bifurcation and chaos in an inertial neuron system with coupled delay显示文摘In this paper, inertia is added to a simplified neuron system with time delay. The stability of the trivial equilibrium of the network is analyzed and the condition for the existence of Hopf bifurcation is obtained by discussing the associated characteristic equation. Hopf bifurcation is investigated by using the perturbation scheme without the norm form theory and the center manifold theorem. Numerical simulations are performed to validate the theoretical results and chaotic behaviors are observed. Phase plots, time history plots, power spectra, and Poincaré section are presented to confirm the chaoticity. | 6 | Associations of PGK1 promoter hypomethylation and PGK1-mediated PDHK1 phosphorylation with cancer stage and prognosis:a TCGA pan-cancer analysis显示文摘Background:Cancer cells reprogram metabolism for proliferation.Phosphoglycerate kinase 1(PGK1),as a glycolytic enzyme and newly identified protein kinase,coordinates glycolysis and mitochondrial metabolism.However,the clini-cal significance of PGK1 expression and function in cancer progression is unclear.Here,we investigated the relation-ship between the progression and prognosis of multiple cancer types and PGK1 expression and its function in the mitochondrial metabolism regulation.Methods:We performed pan-cancer analyses of PGK1 mRNA level and DNA methylation in 11,908 tumor tissues and 1582 paired normal tissues across 34 cancer types in The Cancer Genome Atlas datasets.Using specific antibodies against PGK1 S203 and PDHK1 T338 phosphorylation,we performed immunohistochemistry with tissue microarray assay in additional 818 cancer cases with 619 paired normal tissues from five cancer types.Results:The PGK1 mRNA level was significantly elevated with hypomethylation in promotor regions and associated with advanced TNM stage in 15 and four cancer types,respectively.In breast carcinoma,elevated PGK1 mRNA level and promoter hypomethylation were associated with poor prognosis.Positively correlated PGK1 S203 and PDHK1 T338 phosphorylation levels were significantly associated with short overall survival(OS)in cancers of the breast,liver,lung,stomach,and esophagus and with advanced TNM stage in breast and esophageal cancers.PGK1 pS203 and PDHK1 pT338 were also independent predictors of short OS in liver,lung,and stomach cancer.Conclusions:The elevated expression,promoter hypomethylation,and phosphorylation of PGK1 and PDHK1 were related with disease progression and short OS in diverse types of cancer.PGK1 and PDHK1 phosphorylation may be potential prognostic biomarkers. | Fei Shao Xueying Yang Wei Wang Juhong Wang Wei Guo Xiaoli Feng Susheng Shi Qi Xue Shugeng Gao Yibo Gao Zhimin Lu Jie He | 2019 | Cancer Communications2019,39,1: | 4 |

| 8 | Numerical simulation of flow and heat transfer of continous cast steel slab under traveling magnetic field显示文摘A unified numerical model for simulating solidification transport phenomena (STP) of steel slab in electromagnetic continuous casting (EMCC) process was developed. In order to solve the multi-physics fields coupled problem conveniently, the complicated bidirectional coupled process between EM and STP was simplified as a unidirectional one, and a FEM/FVM-combined numerical simulation technique was adopted. The traveling magnetic fields (TMFs) applied to the EMCC process were calculated using the ANSYS11.0 software, and then the EM-data output by ANSYS were converted to FVM-format using a data-format conversion program developed previously. Thereafter, the governing equations were solved using a pressure-based Direct-SIMPLE algorithm. The simulation results of the STP in CC-process show that, due to the influences of Lorentz force and Joule heat, the two strong circulating flows and the temperature field can be obviously damped and changed once TMF with one pair of poles (1-POPs) or 2-POPs is applied, which would accordingly improve the quality of casting. It was found in the present research that the integrated actions of 2-POPs TMF are superior to 1-POPs. | 9 | Sea ice thickness analyses for the Bohai Sea using MODIS thermal infrared imagery显示文摘Level ice thickness distribution pattern in the Bohai Sea in the winter of 2009–2010 was investigated in this paper using MODIS night-time thermal infrared imagery.The cloud cover in the imagery was masked out manually.Level ice thickness was calculated using MODIS ice surface temperature and an ice surface heat balance equation.Weather forcing data was from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts(ECMWF) analyses.The retrieved ice thickness agreed reasonable well with in situ observations from two off-shore oil platforms.The overall bias and the root mean square error of the MODIS ice thickness are –1.4 cm and 3.9 cm,respectively.The MODIS results under cold conditions(air temperature < –10°C) also agree with the estimated ice growth from Lebedev and Zubov models.The MODIS ice thickness is sensitive to the changes of the sea ice and air temperature,in particular when the sea ice is relatively thin.It is less sensitive to the wind speed.Our method is feasible for the Bohai Sea operational ice thickness analyses during cold freezing seasons. | ZENG Tao SHI Lijian MARKO Makynen CHENG Bin ZOU Juhong ZHANG Zhiping | 2016 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2016,35,7: | 3 |
| 10 | LncRNA HOTAIR promotes endometrial fibrosis by activating TGF-β1/Smad pathway显示文摘Homeobox transcript antisense RNA(HOTAIR)is a long non-coding RNA associated with a number of fibrosis-related diseases.The aim of this study was to investigate the specific role of HOTAIR in the development of endometrial fibrosis and to identify the molecular mechanisms underlying this process.Reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction(RT-qPCR)was used to determine the expression levels of HOTAIR in samples of intrauterine adhesion(lUA)tissue and in endometrial stromal cells(ESCs)that had been treated with transforming growth factor beta 1(TGF-β1).Additionally,we transfected ESCs with either overexpression plasmid(pcDNA-HOTAIR)or silencing construct(si-HOTAIR)and then treated these cells with TGF-β1.We then performed RTqPCR and western blot analysis,along with cell proliferation and apoptosis assays,to investigate the effects of HOTAIR on the transdifferentiation of ESCs into myofibroblasts.The results showed that the expression levels of HOTAIR were significantly elevated in IUA tissue and in ESCs that had been treated with TGF-β1.The overexpression of HOTAIR had a pro-fibrotic effect on ESCs,while the silencing of HOTAIR exerted an anti-fibrotic effect.Most importantiy,the protein expression levels of p-Smad2 and p-Smad3 were significantly upregulated in TGF-β1.treated ESCs transfected with pcDNA-HOTAIR and were downregulated after transfection with si-HOTAIR constructs.These data indicate that HOTAIR promotes endometrial fibrosis by activating the TGF-β1/Smad signaling pathway,suggesting that the inhibition of HOTAIR may represent a promising therapeutic option for suppressing endometrial fibrosis. | Jianhong Wu Lingge Jin Yudi Zhang Aihong Duan Juhong Liu Ziwen Jiang Liang Huang Jing Chen Zhaohui Liu Dan Lu Yinmei Dai | 2020 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2020,52,12: | 3 |

| 12 | Effect of Jianpi therapy in treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease:a systematic review显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the efficacy of Jianpi therapy in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in stable phase by performing a systematic review and meta-analysis. METHODS: The literatures concerning randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and quasi-RCTs comparing TCM treatment plus Western Medicine (WM) treatment with TCM alone, orTCM treatment vs no treatment, placebo for stable phase of COPD were searched in PubMed (1990-December 2010), in English and using Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI, 1990-December 2010), Chinese Biomedical Database (1990-December 2010), Wangfang Database (1990-December 2010), and Weipu (VIP) Database in Chinese. The quality assessment and data extraction for RCTs were conducted by two reviewers independently. Jadad scale and allocation concealment were used to assess the quality of the included studies, and meta-analyses were conducted with the Collaboration's Revman 5.0 software. RESULTS: Seventeen RCTs or quasi-RCTs involving 1269 patients were included. The methodological quality was poor in all trials except one trial (Jadad score=4). In the meta-analysis, TCM-WM treatment was significantly superior to WM treatment in cure rate [OR=3.82, 95%CI (2.45, 5.95)], and the effective rate between TCM treatment and placebo also had significant difference [OR=4.31, 95%CI (2.35, 7.91)]. Moreover, pulmonary function of the patients in TCM-WM group and TCM group was significantly improved [forced vital capacity (FVC), P=0.01, quality of life, P<0.001]. CONCLUSION: The experience in TCM-WM treatment of COPD in stable phase was encouraging. The current evidence shows that TCM-WM treatment might be more efficient in effective rate, quaity of life, and FVC than WM treatment alone. But for forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1) and FEV1/FVC, no matter TCM-WM treatment compared with WM treatment alone or TCM treatment compared with placebo, there was no significant difference, with no obvious adverse reactions. | 13 | Leaf Potential Productivity at Different Canopy Levels in Densely-planted and Intermediately-thinned Apple Orchards显示文摘Most apple orchards in the apple production districts in China were densely planted with vigorous rootstocks during the 1980 s. These orchards have suffered micro-environmental deterioration and loss of fruit quality because of the closed canopy. Modification of the denselyplanted orchards is a priority in current apple production. Intermediate thinning is a basic technique used to transform densely-planted apple orchards in China. Our goal was to provide theoretical basis for studying the effect of thinning on the efficiency of photosynthetically active radiation(PAR),fruit quality, and yield. We measured leaf area, solar radiation, and leaf air exchange at different tree canopy levels and by fitting relevant photosynthetic models, vertical distribution characteristics of leaf photosynthetic potentials and PAR were analyzed in various levels within canopies in densely-planted and intermediately-thinned orchards. Intermediate thinning significantly improved the radiant environment inside the canopies. PAR distribution within the canopies in the intermediately-thinned orchard was better distributed than in the densely-planted orchards. The invalid space under 30.0% of relative photosynthetically active radiation(PAR_r) was nearly zero in the intermediately-thinned orchard; but minimum PARr was 17.0% and the space under 0.30 of the relative height of the canopy was invalid for photosynthesis in the densely-planted orchard. The leaf photosynthetic efficiency in the intermediately-thinned orchard was improved. Photosynthetic rates(P_n) at the middle and bottom levels of the canopy, respectively, were increased by 7.80% and 10.20% in the intermediately-thinned orchard. Leaf development, which influences photosynthetic potential, was closely related to the surrounding micro-environment, especially light. Leaf photosynthetic potentials were correlated with leaf nitrogen content(N_1) and specific leaf weight(M_1) at various levels of canopies. Compared with the densely-planted orchard, the photosynthetic capacity parameters, such as maximum carboxylation rate(CE_(max)) and maximum electron transfer rate(J_(max)), significantly increased in the intermediately-thinned orchard. Leaf photosynthetic potentials mainly depended on Nl and Nl was closely related to PARr. | 14 | MRI Brain Tumor Segmentation Using 3D U-Net with Dense Encoder Blocks and Residual Decoder Blocks显示文摘The main task of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) automatic brain tumor segmentation is to automaticallysegment the brain tumor edema, peritumoral edema, endoscopic core, enhancing tumor core and nonenhancingtumor core from 3D MR images. Because the location, size, shape and intensity of brain tumors vary greatly, itis very difficult to segment these brain tumor regions automatically. In this paper, by combining the advantagesof DenseNet and ResNet, we proposed a new 3D U-Net with dense encoder blocks and residual decoder blocks.We used dense blocks in the encoder part and residual blocks in the decoder part. The number of output featuremaps increases with the network layers in contracting path of encoder, which is consistent with the characteristicsof dense blocks. Using dense blocks can decrease the number of network parameters, deepen network layers,strengthen feature propagation, alleviate vanishing-gradient and enlarge receptive fields. The residual blockswere used in the decoder to replace the convolution neural block of original U-Net, which made the networkperformance better. Our proposed approach was trained and validated on the BraTS2019 training and validationdata set. We obtained dice scores of 0.901, 0.815 and 0.766 for whole tumor, tumor core and enhancing tumorcore respectively on the BraTS2019 validation data set. Our method has the better performance than the original3D U-Net. | 15 | A non-metabolic function of hexokinase 2 in small cell lung cancer:promotes cancer cell stemness by increasing USP11-mediated CD133 stability显示文摘Background:Maintenance of cancer stem-like cell(CSC)stemness supported by aberrantly regulated cancer cell metabolism is critical for CSC self-renewal and tumor progression.As a key glycolytic enzyme,hexokinase 2(HK2)plays an instrumental role in aerobic glycolysis and tumor progression.However,whether HK2 directly contribute to CSC stemness maintenance in small cell lung cancer(SCLC)is largely unclear.In this study,we aimed to investgate whether HK2 independent of its glycolytic activity is directly involved in stemness maintenance of CSC in SCLC.Methods:Immunoblotting analyses were conducted to determine the expression of HK2 in SCLC CSCs and their differentiated counterparts.CSC-like properties and tumorigenesis of SCLC cells with or without HK2 depletion or overexpression were examined by sphere formation assay and xenograft mouse model.Immunoprecipitation and mass spectrometry analyses were performed to identify the binding proteins of CD133.The expression levels of CD133-associated and CSC-relevant proteins were evaluated by immunoblotting,immunoprecipitation,immunofluorescence,and immunohistochemistry assay.RNA expression levels of Nanog,POU5F1,Lin28,HK2,Prominin-1 were analyzed through quantitative reverse transcription PCR.Polyubiquitination of CD133 was examined by in vitro or in vivo ubiquitination assay.CD133+cells were sorted by flow cytometry using an anti-CD133 antibody.Results:We demonstrated that HK2 expression was much higher in CSCs of SCLC than in their differentiated counterparts.HK2 depletion inhibited CSC stemness and promoted CSC differentiation.Mechanistically,nonmitochondrial HK2 directly interacted with CD133 and enhanced CD133 expression without affecting CD133 mRNA levels.The interaction of HK2 and CD133 promoted the binding of the deubiquitinase ubiquitin-specific protease 11(USP11)to CD133,thereby inhibiting CD133 polyubiquitylation and degradation.HK2-mediated upregulation of CD133 expression enhanced the expression of cell renewal regulators,SCLC cell stemness,and tumor growth in mice.In addition,HK2 expression was positively correlated with CD133 expression in human SCLC specimens,and their expression levels were associated with poor prognosis of SCLC patients.Conclusions:These results revealed a critical non-metabolic function of HK2 in promotion of cancer cell stemness.Our findings provided new insights into the multifaceted roles of HK2 in tumor development. | Juhong Wang Fei Shao Yannan Yang Wei Wang Xueying Yang Renda Li Hong Cheng Sijin Sun Xiaoli Feng Yibo Gao Jie He Zhimin Lu | 2022 | Cancer Communications2022,42,10: | 2 |
| 16 | Effect of Cu additive on the structure and magnetic properties of (CoPt)_(1-x)Cu_x films显示文摘CoPt thin films with various Cu contents varying from 0 vol.% to 21.5 vol.% were deposited on glass substrates by magnetron sputtering. The effects of Cu additive on the structural and magnetic properties and the ordering temperature of CoPt films were investigated in detail. The results show that the Cu in CoPt films plays an important role in promoting the ordering parameter S and reducing the ordering tempera-ture of CoPt films. A nearly perfect (001) texture was obtained in a CoPt film doped with 15.3 vol.% Cu. Besides, the preferred orientation of the CoPt film can be changed by annealing temperature. | 17 | Evaluation of the technoeconomic feasibility of electrochemical hydrogen peroxide production for decentralized water treatment显示文摘This study evaluated the feasibility of electrochemical hydrogen peroxide(H2O2)production with gas diffusion electrode(GDE)for decentralized water treatment.Carbon black-polytetrafluoroethylene GDEs were prepared and tested in a continuous flow electrochemical cell for H2O2 production from oxygen reduction.Results showed that because of the effective oxygen transfer in GDEs,the electrode maintained high apparent current efficiencies(ACEs,>80%)for H_(2)O_(2) production over a wide current density range of 5–400 mA/cm^(2),and H_(2)O_(2) production rates as high as~202 mg/h/cm^(2) could be obtained.Long-term stability test showed that the GDE maintained high ACEs(>85%)and low energy consumption(<10 kWh/kg H2O2)for H_(2)O_(2) production for 42 d(~1000 h).However,the ACEs then decreased to~70%in the following 4 days because water flooding of GDE pores considerably impeded oxygen transport at the late stage of the trial.Based on an electrode lifetime of 46 days,the overall cost for H2O2 production was estimated to be~0.88$/kg H_(2)O_(2),including an electricity cost of 0.61$/kg and an electrode capital cost of 0.27$/kg.With a 9 cm^(2) GDE and 40 mA/cm^(2) current density,~2–4 mg/L of H2O2 could be produced on site for the electro-peroxone treatment of a 1.2 m^(3)/d groundwater flow,which considerably enhanced ibuprofen abatement compared with ozonation alone(~43%–59%vs.7%).These findings suggest that electrochemical H_(2)O_(2) production with GDEs holds great promise for the development of compact treatment technologies for decentralized water treatment at a household and community level. | Yang Li Yixin Zhang Guangshen Xia Juhong Zhan Gang Yu Yujue Wang | 2021 | Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2021,15,1: | 2 |
