1Serum semaphorin 4C as a diagnostic biomarker in breast cancer:A multicenter retrospective study显示文摘Background:To date,there is no approved blood-based biomarker for breast cancer detection.Herein,we aimed to assess semaphorin 4C(SEMA4C),a pivotal protein involved in breast cancer progression,as a serum diagnostic biomarker.Methods:We included 6,213 consecutive inpatients from Tongji Hospital,Qilu Hospital,and Hubei Cancer Hospital.Training cohort and two validation cohorts were introduced for diagnostic exploration and validation.A pan-cancer cohort was used to independently explore the diagnostic potential of SEMA4C among solid tumors.Breast cancer patients who underwent mass excision prior to modified radical mastectomy were also analyzed.We hypothesized that increased pretreatment serum SEMA4C levels,measured using optimized in-house enzymelinked immunosorbent assay kits,could detect breast cancer.The endpoints were diagnostic performance,including area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC),sensitivity,and specificity.Post-surgery pathological diagnosis was the reference standard and breast cancer staging followed the TNM classification.There was no restriction on disease stage for eligibilities.Results:We included 2667 inpatients with breast lesions,2378 patients with other solid tumors,and 1168 healthy participants.Specifically,118 patients with breast cancer were diagnosed with stage 0(5.71%),620 with stage I(30.00%),966 with stage II(46.73%),217 with stage III(10.50%),and 8 with stage IV(0.39%).Patients with breast cancer had significantly higher serum SEMA4C levels than benign breast tumor patients and normal controls(P<0.001).Elevated serum SEMA4C levels had AUC of 0.920(95%confidence interval[CI]:0.900–0.941)and 0.932(95%CI:0.911–0.953)for breast cancer detection in the two validation cohorts.The AUCs for detecting early-stage breast cancer(n=366)and ductal carcinoma in situ(n=85)were 0.931(95%CI:0.916–0.946)and 0.879(95%CI:0.832–0.925),respectively.Serum SEMA4C levels significantly decreased after surgery,and the reduction was more striking after modified radical mastectomy,compared with mass excision(P<0.001).The positive rate of enhanced serum SEMA4C levels was 84.77%for breast cancer and below 20.75%for the other 14 solid tumors.Conclusions:Serum SEMA4C demonstrated promising potential as a candidate biomarker for breast cancer diagnosis.However,validation in prospective settings and by other study groups is warranted.Ya Wang Long Qiao Jie Yang Xiong Li Yaqi Duan Jiahao Liu Shaoqi Chen Huayi Li Dan Liu Tian Fang Jingjing Ma Xiaoting Li Fei Ye Junxiang Wan Juncheng Wei Qin Xu Ensong Guo Ping Jin Mingfu Wu Lin Zhang Yun Xia Yaqun Wu Jun Shao Yaojun Feng Qing Zhang Zongyuan Yang Gang Chen Qinghua Zhang Xingrui Li Shixuan Wang Junbo Hu Xiaoyun Wang Mona P.Tan Kazuaki Takabe Beihua Kong Qifeng Yang Ding Ma Qinglei Gao 2021Cancer Communications2021,41,12:3
2Ecological biomass allocation strategies in plant species with different life forms in a cold desert, China显示文摘Biomass allocation patterns among plant species are related to their adaptive ecological strategies. Ephemeral, ephemeroid and annual plant life forms represent three typical growth strategies of plants that grow in autumn and early spring in the cold deserts of China. These plants play an important role in reducing wind velocity in the desert areas. However, despite numerous studies, the strategies of biomass allocation among plant species with these three life forms remain contentious. In this study, we conducted a preliminary quadrat study during 2014–2016 in the southern part of the Gurbantunggut Desert, China, to investigate the allocation patterns of above-ground biomass(AGB) and below-ground biomass(BGB) at the individual level in 17 ephemeral, 3 ephemeroid and 4 annual plant species. Since ephemeral plants can germinate in autumn, we also compared biomass allocation patterns between plants that germinated in autumn 2015 and spring 2016 for 4 common ephemeral species. The healthy mature individual plants of each species were sampled and the AGB, BGB, total biomass(TB), leaf mass ratio(LMR) and root/shoot ratio(R/S) were calculated for 201 sample quadrats in the study area. We also studied the relationships between AGB and BGB of plants with the three different life forms(ephemeral, ephemeroid and annual). The mean AGB values of ephemeral, ephemeroid and annual plants were 0.806, 3.759 and 1.546 g/plant, respectively, and the mean BGB values were 0.106, 4.996 and 0.166 g/plant, respectively. The mean R/S value was significantly higher in ephemeroid plants(1.675) than in ephemeral(0.154) and annual(0.147) plants. The mean LMR was the highest in annual plants, followed by ephemeroid plants and ephemeral plants, reflecting the fact that annual plants allocate more biomass to leaves, associated with their longer life span. Biomass of ephemeral plants that germinated in autumn was significantly higher than those of corresponding plants that germinated in spring in terms of AGB, BGB and TB. However, the R/S value was similar in plants that germinated in autumn and spring. The slope of regression relationship between AGB and BGB differed significantly among the three plant life forms. These results support different biomass allocation hypotheses. 3Enhancing Li NiO_(2) cathode materials by concentration-gradient yttrium modification for rechargeable lithium-ion batteries显示文摘Lithium nickel oxide(LiNiO_(2)) cathode materials are featured with high capacity and low cost for rechargeable lithium-ion batteries but suffer from severe interface and structure instability.Here we report that rationally designed LiNiO_(2) via concentration-gradient yttrium modification exhibits alleviative side reactions and improved electrochemical performance.The LiNiO_(2) cathode with LiYO_(2)-Y_(2) O_(3) coating layer delivers a discharge capacity of 225 mAh g^(-1) with a high initial Coulombic efficiency of 93.4%.These improvements can be attributed to the formation of in-situ modified hybrid LiYO_(2)-Y_(2 O3) coating layer,which suppresses phase transformation,electrolyte oxidation and salt dissociation due to the formation of protective cathode electrolyte interface.The results indicate promising application of concentration-gradient yttrium coating as a facile approach to stabilize nickel-rich cathode materials.Yudong Zhang Hang Li Junxiang Liu Jiuding Liu Hua Ma Fangyi Cheng 2021Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,12:2

6Use of specific acupuncture techniques in lingering nummular eczema:A case report显示文摘Background:Nummular eczema(NE)is an inflammatory skin disease characterized by pruritic coinshaped lesions and a long-lasting and easy-relapsing course,which severely decreases patients’quality of life.This case was designed to observe the effects of specific acupuncture techniques on pruritic NE management.Case presentation:A 22-year-old female was first diagnosed with pruritic NE three years earlier.No allergies were found in the patch test;while emotional stress would trigger and aggravate the NE.External application of 0.1%tacrolimus failed to reverse this condition over a long period of treatment.Treatment&outcomes:An individualized acupuncture treatment protocol was identified.Half needling and encircling needling were applied at local eczematous lesions,with routine needling at meridian points,once per week,for 12 treatment sessions.All outcome measures,including the Eczema Area and Severity Index,Visual Analogue Scale score for pruritus,Self-Rating Anxiety Score,and Dermatology Quality Life Index,substantially improved over 6 months from pre-treatment to 3 months posttreatment.Conclusion:Acupuncture might be a promising non-pharmacological treatment method for patients with NE,especially for those with emotional stress.A randomized controlled trial with an adequate sample size and rigorous study design is required to verify the results of the study.Junxiang Wang Liangxiao Ma Mohammad Reza Afshari Fard Ali Mohammadi 2021Journal of Traditional Chinese Medical Sciences2021,8,2:1
7Host protection against Omicron BA.2.2 sublineages by prior vaccination in spring 2022 COVID-19 outbreak in Shanghai显示文摘The Omicron family of SARS-CoV-2 variants are currently driving the COVID-19 pandemic.Here we analyzed the clinical laboratory test results of 9911 Omicron BA.2.2 sublineages-infected symptomatic patients without earlier infection histories during a SARS-CoV-2 outbreak in Shanghai in spring 2022.Compared to an earlier patient cohort infected by SARS-CoV-2 prototype strains in 2020,BA.2.2 infection led to distinct fluctuations of pathophysiological markers in the peripheral blood.In particular,severe/critical cases of COVID19 post BA.2.2 infection were associated with less pro-inflammatory macrophage activation and stronger interferon alpha response in the bronchoalveolar microenvironment.Importantly,the abnormal biomarkers were significantly subdued in individuals who had been immunized by 2 or 3 doses of SARS-CoV-2 prototypeinactivated vaccines,supporting the estimation of an overall 96.02% of protection rate against severe/critical disease in the 4854 cases in our BA.2.2 patient cohort with traceable vaccination records.Furthermore,even though age was a critical risk factor of the severity of COVID-19 post BA.2.2 infection,vaccination-elicited protection against severe/critical COVID-19 reached 90.15% in patients aged≥60 years old.Together,our study delineates the pathophysiological features of Omicron BA.2.2 sublineages and demonstrates significant protection conferred by prior prototype-based inactivated vaccines.Ziyu Fu Dongguo Liang Wei Zhang Dongling Shi Yuhua Ma Dong Wei Junxiang Xi Sizhe Yang Xiaoguang Xu Di Tian Zhaoqing Zhu Mingquan Guo Lu Jiang Shuting Yu Shuai Wang Fangyin Jiang Yun Ling Shengyue Wang Saijuan Chen Feng Liu Yun Tan Xiaohong Fan 2023Frontiers of Medicine2023,17,3:1

9Direct imaging and mechanism study of C_(6)α-olefin adsorption on faujasite and Linde Type A zeolites显示文摘Linearα-olefins are important chemical raw materials.To purifyα-olefins from a high-temperature Fischer–Tropsch synthetic oil,it is necessary to separate theα-olefins from the paraffins,which is challenging.Adsorption separation by zeolites is a promising alternative to energy-intensive distillation forα-olefin/paraffin separation.An integrated differential phase-contrast scanning transmission electron microscopy(iDPC-STEM)technique is used in combination with density functional theory(DFT)simulations and batch adsorption experiments to study the adsorption behavior of C_(6)α-olefins and the mechanism of selective adsorption of C_(6)α-olefin/paraffin.Direct electron microscopy real-space imaging of the atomic frameworks of the faujasite(FAU)and Linde Type A(LTA)zeolites and the C_(6)α-olefin-adsorption positions on their lattices is achieved through iDPC-STEM.The images provide direct evidence that C_(6)α-olefins preferentially adsorb at the edges of the FAU and LTA zeolite cavities.DFT calculations further reveal the relationship between host–guest interactions and different molecular orientations.Calculated and experimental results also show that the presence of calcium cations can enhance the selectivity of zeolites forα-olefin/paraffin adsorption.This work provides a means to investigate the behavior of guest molecules and the host–guest interactions in the adsorption or catalytic process of nanoporous materials.Ruihan Yang Xiao Chen Junxiang Ma Yuan Gao Yujun Wang Guangsheng Luo 2022Nano Research2022,15,6:0
10Selective adsorption of liquid long-chainα-olefin/paraffin on Mg-MOF-74:Adsorption behavior and interaction mechanism显示文摘The liquid products of Fischer–Tropsch synthesis with a high content of linearα-olefins can act as valuable raw materials for increasing high added-valueα-olefin production if the challenging separation of long-chainα-olefin/paraffin is achieved.Adsorption separation is an efficient alternative to energy-intensive distillation.Herein,the selective adsorption behavior and interaction mechanism of liquidα-olefin/paraffin on Mg metal–organic framework(MOF)-74 were investigated using a combination of batch adsorption experiments and molecular simulation techniques.Mg-MOF-74 exhibited 301 and 333 mg/g olefin adsorption capacities for C6 and C8 linearα-olefins in binary olefin/paraffin mixtures,respectively,and was still unsaturated at high olefin concentrations.The adsorption isotherms were analyzed and compared with the simulated results by configurational-bias grand canonical Monte Carlo(CB-GCMC)simulation.The visualized adsorption sites by CB-GCMC simulation indicated that all adsorbates were arranged in hexagonal shapes and preferentially adsorbed by the vertex of the hexagon,where the metal node magnesium is located.The adsorption energies were−1.456 and−0.378 eV for C8 linearα-olefin and paraffin,respectively,calculated by density functional theory simulation based on the visualized adsorption sites.The charge transfer was analyzed,and the contributions of different kinds of interactions to the overall adsorption energy were quantified by principle orbital interaction analysis to further reveal the difference in adsorption energy betweenα-olefin/paraffin and Mg-MOF-74.This work also provides a general means to investigate the liquid adsorption performance and host–guest interactions in the adsorption or catalytic processes of nanoporous materials.Ruihan Yang Shafqat Ullah Xiao Chen Junxiang Ma Yuan Gao Yujun Wang Guangsheng Luo 2023Nano Research2023,16,1:0
11Study on Occurrence Rule, Reason and Defense Measures of the Thunderstorm in Liaocheng in the Past 50 Years显示文摘[Objective]The research aimed to study occurrence rule,reason and defense measures of the thunderstorm in Liaocheng in the past 50 years. [Method]By using meteorological observation records at 8 observatories of Liaocheng during 1963-2012,occurrence rule of the thunderstorm was studied. Occurrence reason and defense measures were also analyzed. [Result]Annual thunderstorm days presented decreasing trend in Liaocheng. The earliest thunderstorm occurred in February,while the latest thunderstorm occurred in November. Thunderstorm mainly appeared in June,July and August,which occupied 77. 6% of that in whole year. Thunderstorm days among each county had small difference. Thunderstorm days in Dong'e County reached the minimum,which was related to local underlying surface. Occurrence reason of the thunderstorm was analyzed from objective and subjective aspects. By combining the actual situation of Liaocheng,corresponding prevention countermeasures were put forward. 12Planar-symmetry-breaking induced antisymmetric magnetoresistance in van der Waals ferromagnet Fe_(3)GeTe_(2)显示文摘Recently discovered magnetic van der Waals(vdW)materials provide an ideal platform to explore low-dimensional magnetism and spin transport.Its vdW interaction nature opens up unprecedented opportunities to build vertically stacked heterostructures with novel properties and functionalities.By engineering the planar structure as an alternative degree of freedom,herein we demonstrate an antisymmetric magnetoresistance(MR)in a vdW Fe_(3)GeTe_(2)flake with a step terrace that breaks the planar symmetry.This antisymmetric MR originates from a sign change of the anomalous Hall effect and the continuity of the current transport near the boundary of magnetic domains at the step edge.A repeatable domain wall due to the unsynchronized magnetization switching is responsible for this sign change.Such interpretation is supported by the observation of field-dependent domain switching,and the step thickness,temperature,and magnetic field orientation dependent MR.This work opens up new opportunities to encode magnetic information by controlling the planar domain structures in vdW magnets.Ping Liu Caixing Liu Zhi Wang Meng Huang Guojing Hu Junxiang Xiang Chao Feng Chen Chen Zongwei Ma Xudong Cui Hualing Zeng Zhigao Sheng Yalin Lu Gen Yin Gong Chen Kai Liu Bin Xiang 2022Nano Research2022,15,3:0
13Correlation of adsorbent cavity structure with adsorption behavior and interaction of long-chainα-olefin/paraffin on microporous adsorbents显示文摘Long-chainα-olefins have a high added value as important raw materials for many highly marketable products.Fishcher-Tropsch synthesis products contain ultrahigh-contentα-olefins,which are of great value if the challenging separation ofα-olefin/paraffin is achieved through energy-saving ways,for which adsorption separation is an attractive technology.One of the most significant differences between the adsorption separation of long-chain and light hydrocarbons is the steric hindrance of the molecular chain.Herein,we propose a combination of window size,metal node spacing,and bending degree to quantitatively describe the adsorption cavity structure for the separation of long-chainα-olefin/paraffin.The general cavity structural characteristics of microporous materials with good separation performance for long-chainα-olefin/paraffin are revealed.The selective adsorption of liquid C6 and C_(8)α-olefin/paraffin mixtures on CuBTC(BTC=benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylate)was studied in detail to reveal the influence of the cavity structure on the adsorption and interaction using a combination of batch adsorption experiments and molecular simulation techniques.CuBTC exhibited 360 and 366 mg/g olefin adsorption capacities for C6 and C8 linearα-olefins,respectively.The adsorption energies were−0.540 and−0.338 eV for C8 linearα-olefin and paraffin,respectively.The contributions of different types of interactions to the overall adsorption energy were quantified to illustrate the adsorption energy difference betweenα-olefin/paraffin and CuBTC.This work provides a new understanding of the long-chain hydrocarbon adsorption behavior different from ethylene/ethane and propylene/propane,which guides the design of adsorbents forα-olefin/paraffin separation.Ruihan Yang Fangyu Zhao Shafqat Ullah Xiao Chen Junxiang Ma Yuan Gao Yujun Wang Guangsheng Luo 2023Nano Research2023,16,4:0
14Waggle needling Yanglingquan(GB34) enhances cerebral blood flow and ameliorates condition of spastic paresis in rats with middle cerebral artery occlusion induced by surgical nylon suture显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the therapeutic efficacy and the influence on cerebral blood supply of waggle needling Yanglingquan(GB34) on spastic paresis(SP) rats after middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO) induced and investigate its mechanism of relieving neurobehavior deficiency.METHODS:SP rat model was produced by permanent MCAO.Rats were divided into five groups:blank control group(Control),sham operation group(Sham),model group(Model),waggle needling group(WN) and perpendicular needling group(PN).SP rats were treated with acupuncture from day 3 after MCAO,once a day for 6 d.The modified neurological severity score(m NSS) and modified Ashworth scale(MAS) were conducted on days 0,1,3,5,7 and 9.Cerebral blood flow(CBF) in ischemic cortex was measured by laser speckle imaging 5 min pre ischemia,5 min post ischemia,and after intervention on day 9.All rats were sacrificed at day 9 and the protein and m RNA expressions of γ2 subunit of the γ-aminobutyric acid receptor A(GABAAγ2) and K+-Cl-cotransporter 2(KCC2) in the ischemic cortex and lumber enlargement was measured by Western blotting and real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction.RESULTS:Both Control and Sham groups showed no changes in m NSS and MAS scores and in the regional CBF.Compared with Model group,both WN and PN treatments significantly ameliorated neurological deficit(P < 0.01),decreased muscle tone(P < 0.05),and enhanced CBF(P < 0.001) in SP rats;moreover,WN showed superior effects than PN(P < 0.001).In line with the improvement in neurobehavior,acupuncture interventions up-regulated the expressions of GABAAγ2 and KCC2 in the ischemic cortex as well as lumber enlargement(P < 0.01) in SP rats,and those changes were more obvious in WN(P < 0.05).CONCLUSIONS:Acupuncture at Yanglingquan(GB34) enhanced cerebral blood flow and ameliorated SP in permanent MCAO rats,while waggle needling was superior to regular perpendicular needling.Waggle needling Yanglingquan(GB34) would be a potential complementary therapy for SP.ZHANG Zhou MU Jiedan MA Liangxiao YU Wenyan SUN Tianyi QIAN Xu TIAN Yuan ZHANG Yidan WANG Junxiang 2023Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2023,43,3:0
