The influence of graded levels of available phosphorus on growth performance, muscle antioxidant and flesh quality of young grass carp(Ctenopharyngodon idella)显示文摘Growth, muscle composition, meat quality characteristics and antioxidant capacity in muscle of young grass carp(Ctenopharyngodon idella)(initial weight 282.9 ± 3.3 g) fed graded levels of phosphorus(1.0,2.5, 3.8, 5.6, 7.8 and 9.5 g/kg diet) for 8 wk were investigated. Results indicated that percentage weight gain, feed intake, feed efficiency, serum phosphorus and alkaline phosphatase were improved with optimal phosphorus supplementations(P < 0.05). Muscle protein content and water holding capacity were significantly elevated, while moisture, lipid and ash contents were significantly decreased with dietary phosphorus to a certain level(P < 0.05). The meat shear force value and hydroxyproline content were not influenced by different levels of phosphorus. Muscle anti-hydroxyl radical, superoxide dismutase, catalase, glutathione S-transferase activities and glutathione content were significantly improved(P < 0.05). Conversely, anti-superoxide anion, glutathione reducase and glutathione peroxidase activities were decreased(P < 0.05) with dietary phosphorus to a certain level. These results indicated that suitable dietary phosphorus improved growth performance, meat quality and muscle antioxidant capacity. Dietary available phosphorus requirement of young grass carp for percentage weight gain was4.0 g/kg diet. | Jing Wen Weidan Jiang Lin Feng Shengyao Kuang Jun Jiang Ling Tang Xiaoqiu Zhou Yang Liu | 2015 | Animal Nutrition2015,,2: | 8
Mesoproterozoic to Paleozoic Nd isotope stratigraphy of the South China continental nucleus and its geological significance显示文摘The Yangtze continental nucleus in South China is situated in the Huangling-Shennongjia area in western Hubei Province. It comprises the early Precambrian crystalline basement and generally successive Proterozoic to Phanerozoic sedimentary covers. This paper reports a comprehensive Nd isotope study of fine-grained sedimentary rocks from the regional Mesoproterozoic to early Paleozoic strata. The Nd model ages display a V-shaped variation from ~2.5-2.8 Ga during the late Mesoproterozoic through ~1.5-1.7 Ga during the Neoproterozoic Nanhua Period to ~1.8-2.1 Ga during the Paleozoic Ordovician, with corresponding Nd (t) ranges of 11 to 14,1.1 to 5.3,and 7.9 to 9.9,respectively.This evolutionary trend broadly resembles those documented in the sedimentary strata along the southeastern margin of the Yangtze Craton and within the Jiangnan orogenic belt, indicating that the whole South China block underwent a mantle-input related tectono-magmatic event at ~0.8 Ga or earlier. However, the Huangling-Shennongjia area is discriminated from the other two regions by highly variable model ages (~1.5-2.7 Ga) and Nd (t) values (1.38-12.0) of the early Mesoproterozoic strata.Combined with the Archean model ages of the late Mesoproterozoic strata,it is suggested that the Mesoproterozoic sedimentary provenance of the Yangtze continental nucleus was distinct from that of the southeastern Yangtze Craton, likely indicative of an intervening aulacogen (or rift zone) or oceanic basin. In addition, the high comparability in Neoproterozoic to Paleozoic Nd isotope stratigraphy between the Yangtze Craton and the Jiangnan orogenic belt infers that the whole South China block had shared the same sedimentary basin and provenance since the Yangtze-Cathaysia welding at ~0.9 Ga.Thus,it is proposed that the Yangtze Craton had comprised a collage of micro-continents during the pre-Neoproterozoic until the Rodinia assemblage when the primitive South China block was formed. | BAI Xiao LING WenLi DUAN RuiChun QIU XiaoFei LIU ChengXin KUANG Hua GAO YongJuan ZHOU Lian CHEN ZiWan LU Shah-Song | 2011 | Science China Earth Sciences2011,54,11: | 8
The relationship between dietary methionine and growth, digestion, absorption, and antioxidant status in intestinal and hepatopancreatic tissues of sub-adult grass carp(Ctenopharyngodon idella)显示文摘Background: Methionine is an essential amino acid for fish. The present study was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary methionine on growth performance, digestive and absorptive ability, as well as antioxidant capacity in the intestine and hepatopancreas of sub-adult grass carp(Ctenopharyngodon idella). Results: Dietary methionine deficiency significantly decreased percentage weight gain(PWG), feed intake, feed efficiency and protein efficiency ratio, as well as activities of hepatopancreatic glutamate-oxaloacetate transaminase and muscle glutamate-pyruvate transaminase in sub-adult grass carp(P < 0.05). Furthermore, methionine deficiency significantly reduced activities of trypsin, lipase and amylase in the intestine, Na^+/K^+-ATPase, alkaline phosphatase and γ-glutamyl transpeptidase in three intestinal segments, and creatine kinase(CK) in the proximal intestine(P < 0.05). However, an unexplained and significant increase in CK activity in the mid intestine was associated with dietary methionine deficiency. Malondialdehyde and protein carbonyl contents in the intestine and hepatopancreas were significantly increased by methionine deficiency(P < 0.05), whereas anti-hydroxyl radical capacity in the hepatopancreas and intestine, and anti-superoxide anion capacity in the intestine, were significantly decreased by methionine deficiency(P < 0.05). Moreover, methionine deficiency significantly decreased superoxide dismutase and glutathione reductase activities, glutathione contents in the hepatopancreas and intestine, as well as glutathione peroxidase activity in the intestine(P < 0.05), whereas it significantly increased activities of catalase in the hepatopancreas and glutathione-S-transferase in the hepatopancreas and intestine(P < 0.05).(Continued on next page)(Continued from previous page)Conclusions: The present results demonstrated that dietary methionine deficiency induced poor growth, and decreased digestive and absorptive function and antioxidant capacity in the hepatopancreas and intestine of sub-adult grass carp. Methionine requirements for sub-adult grass carp(450-1, 170 g) based on PWG, intestinal trypsin, and hepatopancreatic anti-hydroxyl radical activities were estimated to be 6.12 g/kg diet(21.80 g/kg protein),6.99 g/kg diet(24.90 g/kg protein) and 5.42 g/kg diet(19.31 g/kg protein), respectively, in the presence of 1.50 g cysteine/kg(5.35 g/kg protein). | Pei Wu Ling Tang Weidan Jiang Kai Hu Yang Liu Jun Jiang Shengyao Kuang ling tang Wuneng Tang Yongan Zhang Xiaoqiu Zhou Lin Feng | 2017 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2017,8,4: | 4
Electron-withdrawing functional ligand promotes CO2 reduction catalysis in single atom catalyst显示文摘Electrochemical carbon dioxide reduction reaction (CO2RR) powered by renewable electricity offers an attractive approach to reduce carbon emission and at the same time produce valuable chemicals/fuels.To design efficient CO2 reduction electrocatalyst,it is important to understand the structure-activity relationship.Herein,we design a series of single Co atoms electrocatalysts with well-defined active sites electronic structures, which exhibit outstanding CO2RR activity with controllable selectivity to CO.Experimental and density functional theory (DFT) calculation studies show that introducing nitro (amino) ligand next to single Co atom catalytic center with electron-withdrawing (electron-donating) capability favors (hinders) CO2 reduction catalysis. This work provides an in-depth understanding of how functional ligand affects the splitting of transition metal 3d electron orbital, thereby changing the electron transfer from transition metal active site to CO2,which is closely related to the Gibbs free energy of the rate-determining step (CO2+e^-+*→*CO2^-). | Xinyi Ren Song Liu Huicong Li Jie Ding Linghui Liu Zhichong Kuang Ling Li Hongbin Yang Fuquan Bai Yanqiang Huang Tao Zhang Bin Liu | 2020 | Science China Chemistry2020,63,12: | 3
Rapid generation of ACE2 humanized inbred mouse model for COVID-19 with tetraploid complementation显示文摘Although monkeys and pigs can be infected with SARS-Co V-2,they generally have a long growth cycle and a large size that is difficult to handle in large quantities. However, the readily available rats and mice are not susceptible to SARSCo V-2 because of differences in ACE2(angiotensin-converting enzyme 2),the receptor mediating cell entry of SARSCo V-2[1].Thus,the key to establishing a mouse model of COVID-19 is to make the mice express human ACE2 protein, and therefore become SARS-Co V-2 susceptible.Recently reported COVID-19 mouse models using a random insertion transgene approach[2,3]or adenoviral approach to express h ACE2[4],lack the tissue-specificity of h ACE2 expression and might not replicate COVID-19 precisely, limiting their applications in certain studies. | Feng-Liang Liu Kaixin Wu Jiaoyang Sun Zilei Duan Xiongzhi Quan Junqi Kuang Shilong Chu Wei Pang Han Gao Ling Xu Ying-Chang Li Hai-Lin Zhang Xue-Hui ang Rong-Hua Luo Xiao-Li Feng Hans RScholer Xinwen Chen Duanqing Pei Guangming Wu Yong-Tang Zheng Jiekai Chen | 2021 | National Science Review2021,8,2: | 3
Growth, digestive and absorptive capacity and antioxidant status in intestine and hepatopancreas of sub-adult grass carp Ctenopharyngodonidella fed graded levels of dietary threonine显示文摘Background:This study was carried out to investigate effects of threonine levels on growth, digestive and absorptive capacity and antioxidant status in intestine and hepatopancreas of sub-adult grass carp(Ctenopharyngodonidella). Results:Weight gain, specific growth rate, feed intake and feed efficiency were significantly improved by dietary threonine(P<0.05).Intestinal activities of trypsin,chymotrypsin,alpha-amylase,lipase,alkaline phosphatase,y-glutamyl transpeptidase and creatine kinase took the similar trends.Contents of malondialdehyde and protein carbonyl in intestine and hepatopancreas were significantly decreased by dietary optimal threonine supplementation(P<0.05).Anti-superoxide anion capacity,anti-hydroxyl radical capacity, glutathione content and activities of superoxide dismutase, catalase and glutathione-S-transferase in intestine and hepatopancreas were enhanced by dietary threonine(P< 0.05).Conclusions:Dietary threonine could improve growth, enhance digestive and absorptive capacity and antioxidant status in intestine and hepatopancreas of sub-adult grass carp. The dietary threonine requirement of sub-adult grass carp(441.9-1,013.4 g) based on weight gain was 11.6 g/kg diet or 41.5 g/kg of dietary protein by quadratic regression analysis. | Yang Hong Weidan Jiang Shengyao Kuang Kai Hu Ling Tang Yang Liu Jun Jiang Yongan Zhang Xiaoqiu Zhou Lin Feng | 2015 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2015,6,4: | 3
SARS-CoV-2 spike protein interacts with and activates TLR41显示文摘Dear Editor,Accumulating clinical data suggest the main causes of death by COVID-19 include respiratory failure and the onset of sepsis.1 Importantly, sepsis has been observed in nearly all deceased patients.2,3,4,5 It remains elusive how SARS-CoV-2 infection results in viral sepsis in humans.Toll-like receptor 4(TLR4)mediates anti-gram-negative bacterial immune responses by recognizing lipopolysaccharide(LPS)from bacteria.6 We recently found that SARS-CoV-2 infection provoked an anti-bacterial like response at the very early stage of infection via TLR4.However,the identity of the original trigger initiating these abnormal immune responses during SARS-CoV-2 infection is unknown. | Yingchi Zhao Ming Kuang Junhong Li Ling Zhu Zijing Jia Xuefei Guo Yaling Hu Jun Kong Hang Yin Xiangxi Wang Fuping You | 2021 | Cell Research2021,31,7: | 3
Complications and management of penile augmentation with hyaluronic acid injection显示文摘Hyaluronic acid injection is becoming a popular way for penile augmentation. However, only few studies and follow-ups have investigated the various complications of hyaluronic acid injection and their corresponding management. In this study,a total of 230 patients who had penile augmentation with hyaluronic acid injection from January 2018 to December 2019 were examined on follow-up for penile girth, complications, and their corresponding management. At 1-month,3-month,and 6-month postoperative follow-ups,the penile circumference had increased by 2.66±1.24 cm,2.28±1.02 cm,and 1.80±0.83 cm,respectively.During the entire 6-month follow-up,4.3%had complications such as subcutaneous bleeding, subcutaneous nodules, and infection. There were no systemic or local allergic reactions among all the patients. All complications were treated accordingly, and no further deterioration or severe sequelae were observed.Although complications of hyaluronic acid injections are mild and rare, these may affect the patient's satisfaction postoperatively.Preoperative redundant prepuce may increase the incidence of penile edema or postoperative gel migration.Standardization of the surgery protocol and elucidation of the effects of other injection parameters are still lacking.Nevertheless,it still highlights the importance of preoperative preparation and surgical technique. | Yuan Quan Zi-Rui Gao Xiang Dai Ling Kuang Min Zhang Qing Li Tao Xu Xiao-Wei Zhang | 2021 | Asian Journal of Andrology2021,23,4: | 3

Upwelling of Mantle-derived Material in Southeast China:Evidence from Noble Gas Isotopes显示文摘Shallow groundwater collected in Chaozhou,Huizhou, and Guangzhou allowed testing of concentrations and the isotope ratios of noble gases.Based on the calculated noble gas temperature(NGT)and the ratio of noble gas isotopes, the recharge temperature, recharge source, and residence time of groundwater can be calculated. In addition, the contribution of noble gas components from different sources to the sample components can be assessed. In the Huizhou area, according to the 1/Xe vs.Ne/Xe and NGT data, the shallow sandstone-confined water samples in the Shiba area and the unconfined water samples of the Huangshadong are in different temperature ranges, indicating that they have different recharge sources, both in time or space. The He components in the samples are calculated to obtain the content of radiogenic ^(4)He in the crust and to simulate the groundwater ages. The noble gas isotope ratios show the addition of mantle components into the basalt aquifers and sandstone aquifers in Chaozhou and Huizhou.Except for atmospheric and crustal sources, there is a certain proportion of mantle-derived components in the shallow underground cold water in Huizhou and Chaozhou. The noble gases in the Chaozhou groundwater have an obvious mantle signature, allowing speculation that there is a deep fluid carrying mantle characteristics. This upwelling of mantle-derived material might be caused by the India-Eurasia collision or that between the Philippine Sea Plate and the Eurasian Plate. | WANG Shuai KUANG Jian HUANG Xuelian ZHANG Hongyan ZHANG Min QI Shihua HAN Yongjie XIAO Zhicai WANG Siqi TANG Ling | 2022 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2022,96,1: | 2
Preparation and evaluation of taste masked oral suspension of arbidol hydrochloride显示文摘The purpose of this study was to cover the bitter taste of arbidol hydrochloride(ARB)and develop dry suspension with combination of solid dispersion and flavors.Taste masking was successfully done by solid dispersion using octadecanol as the carrier by fusion method.Suspending agents, carriers and other excipients were selected.Differential scanning calorimetry(DSC)and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)were performed to identify the physicochemical interaction between drug and carrier,DSC analysis indicated that ARB was amorphous in the solid dispersion,FTIR spectroscopy showed no interaction between drug and carrier.Taste masking was evaluated on six volunteers with a score of 4.9.The results demonstrated successful taste masking.Water was used to study the in vitro dissolution performance of the three formulations of commercial tablet, capsule and self-made suspension. The self-made suspension showed a lower and slower release, the insoluble carrier octadecanol blocked the drug dissolving from the solid dispersion. It was indicated from the primary stability study, the self-made suspensions were sensitive to high temperature, high humidity and strong light conditions, they should be stored in sealed containers away from heat, light and humidity. | Ling Wang Yinghua Sun Chen Kuang Xiangrong Zhang | 2015 | Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences2015,10,1: | 2

Dietary protein levels changed the hardness of muscle by acting on muscle fiber growth and the metabolism of collagen in sub-adult grass carp(Ctenopharyngodon idella)显示文摘Background:Nutrient regulation has been proven to be an effective way to improve the flesh quality in fish.As a necessary nutrient for fish growth, protein accounts for the highest proportion in the fish diet and is expensive.Although our team found that the effect of protein on the muscle hardness of grass carp was probably related to an increased collagen content, the mechanism for this effect has not been deeply explored. Moreover, few studies have explored the protein requirements of sub-adult grass crap(Ctenopharyngodon idella). Therefore, the effects of different dietary protein levels on the growth performance, nutritional value, muscle hardness, muscle fiber growth, collagen metabolism and related molecule expression in grass carp were investigated. Methods:A total of 450 healthy grass carp(721.16±1.98 g)were selected and assigned randomly to six experimen-tal groups with three replicates each(n=25/replicate),and were fed six diets with 15.91%,19.39%,22.10%,25.59%,28.53%and 31.42%protein for 60 d.Results:Appropriate levels of dietary protein increased the feed intake, percentage weight gain, specific growth rate, body composition, unsaturated fatty acid content in muscle, partial free amino acid content in muscle, and muscle hardness of grass carp. These protein levels also increased the muscle fiber density, the frequency of new muscle fibers, the contents of collagen and IGF-1,and the enzyme activities of prolyl 4-hydroxylases and lysyloxidase, and decreased the activity of matrix metalloproteinase-2.At the molecular level, the optimal dietary protein increased col-lagen type Iα1(Colα1),Colα2,PI3K,Akt,S6K1,La ribonucleoprotein domain family member 6a(LARP6a),TGF-β1,Smad2,Smad4,Smad3,tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-2,MyoD,Myf5,MyoG and MyHC relative mRNA levels. The levels of the myostatin-1 and myostatin-2 genes were downregulated, and the protein expression levels of p-Smad2,Smad2,Smad4,p-Akt,Akt,LARP6 and Smad3 were increased. Conclusions:The appropriate levels of dietary protein promoted the growth of sub-adult grass carp and improved muscle hardness by promoting the growth of muscle fibers, improving collagen synthesis and depressing collagen degradation. In addition, the dietary protein requirements of sub-adult grass carp were 26.21%and 24.85%according to the quadratic regression analysis of growth performance(SGR)and the muscle hardness(collagen content),respectively. | Min Dong Lu Zhang Pei Wu Lin Feng Weidan Jiang Yang Liu Shengyao Kuang Shuwei Li Haifeng Mi Ling Tang Xiaoqiu Zhou | 2023 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2023,14,2: | 1
Multi-platform omics analysis reveals molecular signature for COVID-19 pathogenesis, prognosis and drug target discovery显示文摘Disease progression prediction and therapeutic drug target discovery for Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)are particularly important,as there is still no effective strategy for severe COVID-19 patient treatment.Herein,we performed multi-platform omics analysis of serial plasma and urine samples collected from patients during the course of COVID-19.Integrative analyses of these omics data revealed several potential therapeutic targets, such as ANXA1 and CLEC3B.Molecular changes in plasma indicated dysregulation of macrophage and suppression of T cell functions in severe patients compared to those in non-severe patients.Further,we chose 25 important molecular signatures as potential biomarkers for the prediction of disease severity. The prediction power was validated using corresponding urine samples and plasma samples from new COVID-19 patient cohort, with AUC reached to 0.904 and 0.988,respectively.In conclusion, our omics data proposed not only potential therapeutic targets, but also biomarkers for understanding the pathogenesis of severe COVID-19. | Yuming Li Guixue Hou Haibo Zhou Yanqun Wang Hein Min Tun Airu Zhu Jingxian Zhao Fei Xiao Shanwen Lin Dongdong Liu Dunrong Zhou Lang Mai Lu Zhang Zhaoyong Zhang Lijun Kuang Jiao Guan Qiushi Chen Liyan Wen Yanjun Zhang Jianfen Zhuo Fang Li Zhen Zhuang Zhao Chen Ling Luo Donglan Liu Chunke Chen Mian Gan Nanshan Zhong Jincun Zhao Yan Ren Yonghao Xu | 2021 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2021,6,5: | 1
