1Multifunctional oral delivery systems for enhanced bioavailability of therapeutic peptides/proteins显示文摘In last few years, therapeutic peptides/proteins are rapidly growing in drug market considering their higher efficiency and lower toxicity than chemical drugs. However, the administration of therapeutic peptides/proteins is mainly limited in parenteral approach. Oral therapy which was hampered by harsh gastrointestinal environment and poorly penetrating epithelial barriers often results in low bioavailability(less than 1%–2%). Therefore, delivery systems that are rationally designed to overcome these challenges in gastrointestinal tract and ameliorate the oral bioavailability of therapeutic peptides/proteins are seriously promising. 2Contrasting effects of space and environment on functional and phylogenetic dissimilarity in a tropical forest显示文摘Aims The evolutionary history and functional traits of species can illumi-nate ecological processes supporting coexistence in diverse forest communities.However,little has been done in decoupling the rela-tive importance of these mechanisms on the turnover of phylogenetic and functional characteristics across life stages and spatial scales.Therefore,this study aims to estimate the contribution of environment and dispersal on the turnover of phylogenetic and functional diversity across life stages and spatial scales,in order to build a coherent pic-ture of the processes responsible for species coexistence.Methods We conducted the study in Xishuangbanna Forest Dynamics Plot in Yunnan Province,southwest China.We used four different spatial point process models to estimate the relative importance of disper-sal limitation and environmental filtering.The functional traits and phylogenetic relationships of all individual trees were incorporated in the analyses to generate measures of dissimilarity in terms of pair-wise and nearest-neighbor phylogenetic and functional characteris-tics across life stages and spatial scales.Important Findings We found non-random patterns of phylogenetic and functional turnover across life stages and spatial scales.Environmental filtering structured pairwise phylogenetic and functional beta diversity across spatial scales,while dispersal limitation alone,and in combination with environment filtering,shaped nearest neighbor phylogenetic and functional beta diversity.The relative importance of dispersal limitation and environmental filtering appeared to change with life stage but not with spatial scale.Our findings suggest that phylogenetic and functional beta diversity help to reveal the ecological processes responsible for evolu-tionary and functional assembly and highlight the importance of using a range of different metrics to gain full insights into these processes.Mengesha Asefa Calum Brown Min Cao Guocheng Zhang Xiuqin Ci Liqing Sha Jie Li Luxiang Lin Jie Yang 2019Journal of Plant Ecology2019,12,2:3

10Microstructures and Mechanical Properties of a New Multi-functional 460 MPa Grade Construction Structural Steel显示文摘This article reports a new generation of Q460 multi-functional construction structural steel,which has high strength(yield strength larger than 460 MPa),excellent toughness(higher than 110 J/cm^(2) at-60 ℃),lower yield ratio(lower than 0.8),good fire resistance(yield strength at 600 ℃ larger than two-thirds of its room-temperature yield strength)and better corrosion resistance.The eff ects of finish cooling temperature(FCT)on the microstructure and properties were studied by scanning electron microscopy(SEM),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),emission electron probe micro-analysis(EPMA),electron backscattering diff raction(EBSD),tensile tester,impact tester,periodic immersion cycle acceleration test and electrochemical experiment.The results show that the strength and toughness are simultaneously improved by decreasing the FCT due to more lath-like bainite with large number of dislocations,refined martensite/austenite(M/A)with higher carbon concentration and increased high angle boundaries.In addition,the fire resistance of the newly developed Q460 steel is obviously better than the conventional one,which is mainly due to non-recrystallized lath-like bainite with high dislocation density at elevated temperature.The corrosion resistance of the new Q460 steel is also improved due to the addition of Cu and Cr.Zhenye Chen Zhangguo Lin Jianjun Qi Yang Feng Liqing Chen Guodong Wang 2022Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2022,35,7:1

12Interaction of IL-22/IL-22R1 promotes cell proliferation and suppresses apoptosis of colorectal cancer via phosphorylation of STAT3显示文摘Interleukin-22(IL-22)is a member of IL-10 cytokine family which is expressed in activated T cells predominantly and in activated natural killer cells at lower levels.Previous studies have demonstrated the link between elevated levels of IL-22 and disease severity of psoriasis,Crohn’s disease,rheumatoid arthritis and interstitial lung diseases.However,the function of IL-22 in the development and progression of colorectal cancer(CRC)remains elusive.In this study,we first evaluated the IL-22/IL-22R1 level in CRC patients,and found that tumor tissues have more active expression of IL-22 and IL-22R1 than normal tissues,presenting correlation with the degree of differentiation of tumor tissues.Subsequently,caspase and cell viability assays were performed on SW-480 cell line,which expresses high level of IL-22R1,to examine if the supplementation of IL-22 has an impact on apoptosis and proliferation.In comparison with treatment of 5-FU,supplementation of IL-22 promoted cell proliferation and ameliorated apoptosis.To unveil signal transduction upon activation of IL-22R,we examined the phosphorylation of STAT3 in SW-480 cell line following supplementation of IL-22.The treatment of IL-22 also increased the level of p-Akt,an essential component in PI3K/Akt pathway.Although the link between STAT3 phosphorylation and PI3K/Akt activation remains to be explored,our study revealed the mechanism underlying the effects of IL-22R activation on apoptosis as well as tumor differentiation,indicating the prognostic value of IL-22/IL-22R.XIAONING QIN LIQING YUAN HONGXUN RUAN LIN LIN 2019BIOCELL2019,43,2:0
13Genetic dissection and genomic prediction for pork cuts and carcass morphology traits in pig显示文摘Background As pre-cut and pre-packaged chilled meat becomes increasingly popular,integrating the carcasscutting process into the pig industry chain has become a trend.Identifying quantitative trait loci(QTLs)of pork cuts would facilitate the selection of pigs with a higher overall value.However,previous studies solely focused on evaluating the phenotypic and genetic parameters of pork cuts,neglecting the investigation of QTLs influencing these traits.This study involved 17 pork cuts and 12 morphology traits from 2,012 pigs across four populations genotyped using CC1 PorcineSNP50 BeadChips.Our aim was to identify QTLs and evaluate the accuracy of genomic estimated breed values(GEBVs)for pork cuts.Results We identified 14 QTLs and 112 QTLs for 17 pork cuts by GWAS using haplotype and imputation genotypes,respectively.Specifically,we found that HMGA1,VRTN and BMP2 were associated with body length and weight.Subsequent analysis revealed that HMGA1 primarily affects the size of fore leg bones,VRTN primarily affects the number of vertebrates,and BMP2 primarily affects the length of vertebrae and the size of hind leg bones.The prediction accuracy was defined as the correlation between the adjusted phenotype and GEBVs in the validation population,divided by the square root of the trait’s heritability.The prediction accuracy of GEBVs for pork cuts varied from 0.342 to 0.693.Notably,ribs,boneless picnic shoulder,tenderloin,hind leg bones,and scapula bones exhibited prediction accuracies exceeding 0.600.Employing better models,increasing marker density through genotype imputation,and pre-selecting markers significantly improved the prediction accuracy of GEBVs.Conclusions We performed the first study to dissect the genetic mechanism of pork cuts and identified a large number of significant QTLs and potential candidate genes.These findings carry significant implications for the breeding of pork cuts through marker-assisted and genomic selection.Additionally,we have constructed the first reference populations for genomic selection of pork cuts in pigs.Lei Xie Jiangtao Qin Lin Rao Dengshuai Cui Xi Tang Liqing Chen Shijun Xiao Zhiyan Zhang Lusheng Huang 2023Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2023,14,6:0
14Influence of olfactory ensheathing cell transplantation on body temperature of patients with old spinal cord injury显示文摘BACKGROUND: Olfactory ensheathing cell transplantation may transiently raise body temperature in some patients with old spinal cord injury. OBJECTIVE: To analyze the influence of olfactory ensheathing cell transplantation on body temperature changes and neurological functional recovery in patients with old spinal cord injury. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: A non-randomized self-controlled study, which was performed in the wards of the Department of Surgery, Taian Disabled Soldier’s Hospital of Shandong Province, between June 2004 and July 2007. PARTICIPANTS: 119 inpatients with old spinal cord injury were selected for this study, including 110 males and 9 females, aged 5-58 years. METHODS: The olfactory bulb of an aborted fetus was digested into a single-cell suspension of olfactory ensheathing cells, which were then cultured and purified for 7-10 days, and once again made into a single-cell suspension. The olfactory ensheathing cell suspension was then transplanted in the juncture of the normal spinal cord and the abnormal spinal cord under surgical microscopy, with 1 × 106 cells per target point, with 2-5 target points in total. According to changes in postoperative temperature, 119 patients were divided into three groups: body temperature (T) ≤ 38.0 ℃ (n = 40), 38.0 ℃ < T ≤ 39.0 ℃ (n = 67), T > 39.0 ℃ (n = 12). In particular, T > 38 ℃ (n = 79) patients were divided into two subgroups according to duration of fever: ≤3 days (n = 61) and ≥ 4 days (n = 18). MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Neurological function was evaluated by the American Spinal Cord Injury (ASIA) scale set by American Spinal Cord Injury Academy in 2000 one day prior to transplantation and one or two months after transplantation. RESULTS: 119 patients were included in the final analysis, without any loss. Following olfactory ensheathing cell transplantation, body temperatures changed as follows: T ≤ 38.0 ℃ (n = 40, 33.6%), 38.0 ℃ < T ≤ 39.0 ℃ (n = 67, 56.3%), > 39.0 ℃ (n = 12, 10.1%). Moreover, among 79 patients (T > 38 ℃), the febrile time of 61 cases (77%) was ≤ 3 days, and that of 18 cases (23%) ≥ 4 days. ASIA scores increased after olfactory ensheathing cell transplantation (P < 0.05-0.01). CONCLUSION: Moderate febricity frequently occurred in patients that received olfactory ensheathing cell transplantation, and febrile time lasted for more than 3 days.
