| 1 | One-year clinical study of NeuroR egen scaffold implantation following scar resection in complete chronic spinal cord injury patients显示文摘The objective of this clinical study was to assess the safety and feasibility of the collagen scaffold, Neuro Regen scaffold, one year after scar tissue resection and implantation. Scar tissue is a physical and chemical barrier that prevents neural regeneration. However, identification of scar tissue is still a major challenge. In this study, the nerve electrophysiology method was used to distinguish scar tissue from normal neural tissue, and then different lengths of scars ranging from 0.5–4.5 cm were surgically resected in five complete chronic spinal cord injury(SCI) patients. The NeuroR egen scaffold along with autologous bone marrow mononuclear cells(BMMCs), which have been proven to promote neural regeneration and SCI recovery in animal models, were transplanted into the gap in the spinal cord following scar tissue resection. No obvious adverse effects related to scar resection or Neuro Regen scaffold transplantation were observed immediately after surgery or at the 12-month follow-up. In addition, patients showed partially autonomic nervous function improvement, and the recovery of somatosensory evoked potentials(SSEP) from the lower limbs was also detected. | 2 | Phacoemulsification with or without goniosynechialysis for angle-closure glaucoma: a global Meta-analysis based on randomized controlled trials显示文摘AIM: To compare the benefits and potential harms of routine phacoemulsification(phaco) alone and combined surgery with goniosynechialysis(GSL) for angle-closure glaucoma(ACG) and coexisting lens opacity, as shown in different randomized controlled trials(RCTs).METHODS: A systematic review was conducted searching several databases including PubMed, Cochrane Library, EMBASE, ClinicalTrials.gov from the inception to September 2018 for RCTs with data published on the effects and safety of phaco and intraocular lens implantation combined with GSL or routine cataract surgery alone. Several studies were recruited which reported data at baselines and postoperative follow-up, including the mean values of postoperative intraocular pressure(IOP) and mean numbers of antiglaucoma medications using postoperatively. The numbers of complications happening were also included. Fixedeffect and random-effect models were applied, and the quality of evidence was evaluated.RESULTS: Analysis of the seven included RCTs, with a total number of 321 participants(358 eyes) diagnosed with ACG and cataract, received a solo procedure(phaco group) or a combined surgery(phaco-GSL group) randomly, and follow-up periods ranging from 2 to 12 mo postoperatively. The involved studies showed that the mean value of IOP between the two groups at 3(four studies, one study follow-up at 2 mo postoperative was included), 6, 12 mo postoperative were not significantly different. Only two studies reported the change in IOP value at 12 mo compared with baseline but showed nosignificant differences between the two interventions. Although three studies did not have the significant difference in the number of medications using to reduce IOP at 3 mo postoperatively, two studies reported that the participants using fewer anti-glaucoma medications at 12 mo postoperative in the phaco group than in the phacoGSL surgery group.CONCLUSION: The analysis provides a low to moderatequality evidence that phaco-GSL surgery lead to an equivalent IOP-lowering effect. The phaco-GSL surgery may not help patients to reduce the consumption of antiglaucoma eyedrops in the long period. The results of this analysis suggested that additional GSL may not be necessary for primary angle closure glaucoma(PACG) patients. | 3 | Application of next-generation sequencing to screen for pathogenic mutations in 123 unrelated Chinese patients with Marfan syndrome or a related disease显示文摘Marfan syndrome(MFS) is a systemic connective tissue disease principally affecting the ocular, skeletal and cardiovascular systems. This autosomal dominant disorder carries a prevalence of 1:3,000 to 1:5,000. This study aims to define the mutational spectrum of MFS related genes in Chinese patients and to establish genotype-phenotype correlations in MFS. Panel-based targeted next-generation sequencing was used to analyze the FBN1, TGFBR1 and TGFBR2 genes in 123 unrelated Chinese individuals with MFS or a related disease. Genotype-phenotype correlation analyses were performed in mutation-positive patients. The results showed that 97 cases/families(78.9%;97/123) harbor at least one(likely) pathogenic mutation, most of which were in FBN1;four patients had TGFBR1/2 mutations;and one patient harbored a SMAD3 mutation. Three patients had two FBN1 mutations, and all patients showed classical MFS phenotypes. Patients with a dominant negative-FBN1 mutation had a higher prevalence of ectopia lentis(EL). Patients carrying a haploinsufficiency-FBN1 mutation tended to have aortic dissection without EL. | 6 | Comparison between Xingnaojing Injection(醒脑静注射液)and Naloxone in Treatment of Acute Alcohol Intoxication:An Updated Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials显示文摘Objectives:To investigate the effectiveness and safety of Xingnaojing Injection(XNJ,醒脑静注射液)compared with naloxone for the treatment of acute alcohol intoxication(AAI),and provide the latest evidence through evidence-based approach.Methods:Seven electro-databases including Pub Med,EMBASE,Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials,Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure Databases,Chinese Biomedical Literature Database,Chinese Science and Technology Periodical Database(VIP)and Wanfang Database were searched from the inception to January 2018.Randomized controlled trials(RCTs)comparing XNJ with naloxone for patients with AAI and reporting at least one of the below outcomes were included:patients’conscious recovery time,stay length in emergency department,disappearance time of the ataxia symptom,the severity of the symptoms,the blood alcohol content as wel as the adverse events.Methodological quality of included trials was assessed using the risk of bias tool which recommended by the Cochrane Col aboration.Meta-analysis was conducted by Review Manager 5.3 software.Results:Total y 141 trials with 13,901 patients were included in this review,al of them were assessed as unclear or high risk of bias.Results showed that on the basis of routine therapy,standard dose XNJ(10–20 m L)may have similar results with naloxone on the recovery time of consciousness(MD 12 min,95%CI 7.2–17.4 min)and disappearance time of symptoms(MD 6 min,95%CI–13.8–25.8 min)for patients with AAI.Larger dose of XNJ Injection(21–40 m L)may speed up the time(almost 1 h earlier).Combination of XNJ and naloxone seemed superior to the naloxone alone for al the relevant outcomes.The average difference of time in consciousness recovery was 2 h and the number of AAI patients whose consciousness recovery within 1 h was above 50%the combination group than in the control group(RR 1.42,95%CI 1.29 to 1.56).No severe adverse events or adverse reactions of XNJ were reported in the included trials.Conclusions:Low quality of evidence showed XNJ may have equal effect as naloxone and may achieve better effect as add-on intervention with naloxone for patients with AAI.We failed to evaluate the safety of XNJ Injection due to the insufficient evidence in this review. | CAO Hui-juan CHENG Nuo WANG Rui-ting HUANG Xing-yue WU Jia-rui | 2019 | Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine2019,25,12: | 3 |

| 12 | Biodegradable, Super-Strong, and Conductive Cellulose Macrofibers for Fabric-Based Triboelectric Nanogenerator显示文摘Electronic fibers used to fabricate wearable triboelectric nanogenerator(TENG) for harvesting human mechanical energy have been extensively explored. However, little attention is paid to their mutual advantages of environmental friendliness, mechanical properties, and stability. Here, we report a super-strong, biodegradable, and washable cellulose-based conductive macrofibers, which is prepared by wet-stretching and wet-twisting bacterial cellulose hydrogel incorporated with carbon nanotubes and polypyrrole. The cellulose-based conductive macrofibers possess high tensile strength of 449 MPa(able to lift 2 kg weights), good electrical conductivity(~ 5.32 S cm^(-1)), and excellent stability(Tensile strength and conductivity only decrease by 6.7% and 8.1% after immersing in water for 1 day). The degradation experiment demonstrates macrofibers can be degraded within 108 h in the cellulase solution. The designed fabric-based TENG from the cellulose-base conductive macrofibers shows a maximum open-circuit voltage of 170 V, short-circuit current of 0.8 μA, and output power at 352 μW, which is capable of powering the commercial electronics by charging the capacitors. More importantly, the fabric-based TENGs can be attached to the human body and work as self-powered sensors to effectively monitor human motions. | 13 | Expression of IL-2 and IL-11 and its significance in patients with ankylosing spondylitis显示文摘Objective:To explore the expression of IL-2 and IL-11 and its significance in patients with ankylosing spondylitis(AS).Methods:A total of 48 active AS patients in our hospital and 40 normal control subjects were selected in our study.Bath ankylosing spondylitis disease activity index(BASDAI),Bath ankylosing spondylitis functional index(BASFI),Bath ankylosing spondylitis metrology index(BASMI),ESR and CRP expression levels were compared before treatment,12 h after treatment and 24 h after treatment.IL-2 and IL-11 expression were also compared between these two groups.Results:The BASDAI score,BASH score and BASMI score of the AS patients before treatment significantly decreased compared with those 12 weeks and 24 weeks after treatment(P<0.05).ESB and CRP levels of the AS patients 12 weeks and 24 weeks after treatment significantly decreased compared with those before treatment(P<0.05).Difference was significant in serum IL-2 and IL-11 levels between 12 weeks and 24 weeks after treatment and before treatment(P<0.05).And no statistically significance was observed for serum IL-2 and IL-11 levels between normal control group and those of patients in AS group 24 weeks after treatment(P>0.05). Pearson’s linear-correlation analysis showed that serum IL-2 level had a positive correlation with BASDAI,BASFI,BASMI,ESR and CRP(r=0.661.0.547,0.474,0.362,0.416,P<0.05) and serum IL-11 level had a negative correlation with BASDAI,BASFI,BASMI,ESR and CRP(r=-0.629, -0.412,-0.422,-0.387,-0.408,-0.315,P<0.05).Conclusions:Serum levels of IL-2 in active AS patients significantly increase and will decrease after treatment.However,serum levels of IL- 11 significantly decrease and will increase after treatment,which indicates that serum IL-2 has a positive correlation with the degree of AS and serum IL-11 has a negative correlation with the degree of AS,both of which are correlated closely with the onset of AS. | Feng Liu Fan Wang Cong-Cong Wang Nuo Li Shu-Feng Li | 2013 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2013,6,1: | 2 |

| 20 | Microbes team with nanoscale zero-valent iron: A robust route for degradation of recalcitrant pollutants显示文摘Integrating nanoscale zero-valent iron(nZVI) with biological treatment processes holds the promise of inheriting significant advantages from both environmental nano-and biotechnologies. nZVI and microbes can perform in coalition in direct contact and act simultaneously, or be maintained in separate reactors and operated sequentially. Both modes can generate enhanced performance for wastewater treatment and environmental remediation. nZVI scavenges and eliminates toxic metals, and enhances biodegradability of some recalcitrant contaminants while bioprocesses serve to mineralize organic compounds and further remove impurities from wastewater. This has been demonstrated in a number of recent works that nZVI can substantially augment the performance of conventional biological treatment for wastewaters from textile and nonferrous metal industries. Our recent laboratory and field tests show that COD of the industrial effluents can be reduced to a record-low of 50 ppm.
