1Kinetics and equilibrium of adsorption of dissolved organic matter fractions from secondary effluent by fly ash显示文摘Fly ash was used as a low-cost adsorbent for removing dissolved organic matter (DOM) in secondary effluent. Batch experiments were conducted under various adsorbent dosages, pH, contact time, temperatures and DOM fractional characteristics. Under the optimum conditions of fly ash dosage of 15 g/L, temperature of 303 K and contact time of 180 min, a removal of 22.5% of the dissolved organic carbon (DOC), 23.7% of UV-254, 25.9% of the trihalomethanes precursors in secondary effluent was obtained. The adsorption of DOM fractions onto fly ash all followed the pseudo second-order kinetic model, and the hydrophilic fraction adsorption by fly ash also fitted the intraparticle diffusion model quite well. Freundlich and Langmuir models were applicable to the fly ash adsorption and their constants were evaluated. The maximum adsorption capacities of the adsorptions revealed that fly ash was more effective in adsorbing hydrophilic fraction than the acidic fractions. Structure changes of the DOM fractions after fly ash adsorption were also characterized via spectrum analyzing. 2Micro/nano Indentation and Single Grit Diamond Grinding Mechanism on Ultra Pure Fused Silica显示文摘The existing research about ductile grinding of fused silica glass was mainly focused on how to carry out ductile regime material removal for generating very 'smoothed' surface and investigate the machining-induced damage in the grinding in order to reduce or eliminate the subsurface damage.The brittle/ductile transition behavior of optical glass materials and the wear of diamond wheel are the most important factors for ductile grinding of optical glass.In this paper,the critical brittle/ductile depth,the influence factors on brittle/ductile transition behavior,the wear of diamond grits in diamond grinding of ultra pure fused silica(UPFS) are investigated by means of micro/nano indentation technique,as well as single grit diamond grinding on an ultra-stiff machine tool,Tetraform 'C'.The single grit grinding processes are in-process monitored using acoustic emission(AE) and force dynamometer simultaneously.The wear of diamond grits,morphology and subsurface integrity of the machined groves are examined with atomic force microscope(AFM) and scanning electron microscope(SEM).The critical brittle/ductile depth of more than 0.5 μm is achieved.When compared to the using roof-like grits,by using pyramidal diamonds leads to higher critical depths of scratch with identical grinding parameters.However,the influence of grit shapes on the critical depth is not significant as supposed.The grinding force increased linearly with depth of cut in the ductile removal regime,but in brittle removal regime,there are large fluctuations instead of forces increase.The SEM photographs of the cross-section profile show that the median cracks dominate the crack patterns beneath the single grooves.Furthermore,The SEM photographs show multi worn patterns of diamond grits,indicating an inhomogeneous wear mechanism of diamond grits in grinding of fused silica with diamond grinding wheels.The proposed research provides the basal technical theory for improving the ultra-precision grinding of UPFS.ZHAO Qingliang GUO Bing STEPHENSIN David CORBETT John 2011Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2011,24,6:10

4Fate of secondary effluent dissolved organic matter during soil-aquifer treatment显示文摘The reduction of mass and trihalomethane formation potential (THMFP) of dissolved organic matter (DOM) and its fractions from secondary effluent during laboratory-scale soil-aquifer treatment (SAT) soil columns were studied. Reduction in dissolved organic carbon (DOC), absorbance of ultraviolet light at 254 nm (UV-254), biodegradable dissolved organic carbon (BDOC) and nonbiodegradable dis- solved organic carbon (NBDOC) for the bulk DOM averaged 72.35%, 53.98%, 97.49% and 35.33% across the soil columns, respectively. Using XAD-8 and XAD-4 resins, DOM was fractionated into 3 fractions: hydrophobic acid (HPO-A), transphilic acid (TPI-A) and hydrophilic fraction (HPI). HPO-A was removed by 61.06%, TPI-A by 54.86% and HPI by 74.95% as DOC as a consequence of the laboratory-scale SAT, respectively. The reduction of THMFP from HPO-A, TPI-A and HPI was 27.24%, 26.24% and 36.08%, respectively. Proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR) spectra revealed that the HPO-A isolated from the secondary effluent contained more aromatic functional groups than the corresponding TPI-A. Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectrum analysis illustrated that TPI-A had decreased hydrocarbon and increased aromatics content in the SAT columns. Specific ultraviolet light absorbance (SUVA) and specific THMFP for each DOM fraction increased across the soil columns and HPI exhibited greater increase in both than HPO-A and TPI-A. 8MICRO/NANO-MACHINING ON SILICON SURFACE WITH A MODIFIED ATOMIC FORCE MICROSCOPE显示文摘To understand the deformation and removal mechanism of material on nano-scale at ultralow loads,a systemic study on AFM micro/nano-machining on single crystal ailicon is conducted. The results indicate that AFM nano- machining has a precisely dimensional controllability and a good surface quality on nanometer scale.A SEM is adopted to observe nano-machined region and chips,the results indicate that the material removal mechanisms change with the applied normal load. An XPS is used to analyze the changes of chemical composition inside and outside the nano-machined region respectively.The nano-indentation which is conducted with the same AFM diamond tip on the machined region shows a big discrepancy compared with that on the macro-scale. 10Removal and transformation of organic matters in domestic wastewater during lab-scale chemically enhanced primary treatment and a trickling filter treatment显示文摘To find a simple and economical way for treating the domestic wastewater in small counties and towns, a process combining chemically enhanced primary treatment and a trickling filter (CEPT-TF, representing the physical and biological effects) was constructed and operated in laboratory conditions. The characteristic behaviors of dissolved organic matter in raw wastewater and effluents were examined during steady-state operation. Experimental results showed that the process of CEPT and TF in series was beneficial for the removal of hydrophobic and hydrophilic organics. Specially, the hydrophobic and aromatic materials could be preferentially removed in the CEPT unit, and the hydrophilic fraction in the TF. 11Transformation of erythromycin during secondary effluent soil aquifer recharging:Removal contribution and degradation path显示文摘Erythromycin(ERY),a widely used antibiotic,has recently been detected in municipal secondary effluents and poses serious threats to human health during wastewater reusing.In this study,the removal,fate,and degradation pathway of ERY in secondary effluent during soil aquifer treatment was evaluated via laboratory-scale SAT tests.Up to a 92.9%reduction of ERY in synthetic secondary effluent was observed in 1.0 m depth column system,which decreased to 64.7%when recharged with wastewater treatment plant secondary effluent.XRD-fractionation results demonstrated that the transphilic acid and hydrophobic acid fractions in secondary effluent compete for the adsorption sites of the packed soil and lead to a declined ERY removal.Moreover,aerobic biodegradation was the predominant role for ERY removal,contributing more than 60%reduction of ERY when recharged with synthetic secondary effluent.Destruction of 14-member macrocyclic lactone ring and breakdown of two cyclic sugars(L-cladinose and D-desosamine) were main removal pathways for ERY degradation,and produced six new intermediates.Liangliang Wei Kena Qin Ningbo Zhao Daniel R.Noguera Wei Qiu Qingliang Zhao Xiangjuan Kong Weixian Zhang Felix Tetteh Kabutey 2017Journal of Environmental Sciences2017,29,1:4
12Mechanism on minimization of excess sludge in oxic-settling- anaerobic (OSA) process显示文摘The oxic-settling-anaerobic(OSA)process is a promising wastewater treatment technique for efficiently reducing sludge production and improving the stability of process operation.In this paper,the possible factors of sludge reduction such as sludge decay,uncoupled metabol-ism,and anaerobic oxidation with low sludge production were discussed in the OSA process.It has been confirmed that sludge decay is the decisive cause in the OSA process,accounting for 66.7%of sludge production reduction.Sludge decay includes hydrolysis and acidogenesis of dead microorganisms and particle organic carbon adsorbed in sludge floc and endogenous metabolism.By batch experi-ments,it has been proven that there is energetic uncoupling in the OSA system since microorganisms were exposed to alternative anaerobic and aerobic environment.It accounts for about 7.5%of sludge production reduction.Soluble chemical oxygen demand(SCOD)released from the anaerobic sludge tank in the OSA process was used as the substrate for cryptic growth.The substrate was used for anoxic denitrifying,anaerobic phosphorus release,sulfate reduction,and methane production.These anaerobic reactions in the sludge anaerobic tank have lower sludge production than in the aerobic oxidation when equivalent SCOD is consumed,which may lead to approximately 23%of sludge reduction in the OSA process.It has been concluded that multiple causes resulted in the minimization of excess sludge in the OSA system.The microbial community structure and diversity of sludge samples from the CAS(conventional activated sludge)and OSA systems were investigated by 16 SrDNA PCR-DG-DGGE(poly-merase chain reaction-double gradient-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis).DGGE profile and cluster analysis showed more abundant species in the OSA system contrasting to microbial communities in the CAS system.Jianfang WANG Qingliang ZHAO Wenbiao JIN Jikan LIN 2008Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2008,2,1:3
13Atmospheric pollution of agriculture-oriented cities in Northeast China: A case in Suihua显示文摘Agriculture-oriented cities in Northeastern China have experienced frequent atmospheric pollution events.Deeper understandings of the pollution characteristics,haze causes and effects of management on local air quality are crucial for conducting integrated management approaches for the sustainable development of agriculture-oriented cities.Taking a typical agriculture-dominant city(i.e.,Suihua)in Northeast China,we analyzed in detail the characteristics and causes of atmospheric pollution and evaluated the straw-burning prohibition using multisource data.The results showed a clear temporal pattern of air quality index(AQI)on an annual scale(i.e.,2015-April 2019),with two typical pollution periods occurring in late autumn and early spring.The large areas of concentrated straw burning at local and regional scales accounted for the first period(i.e.,October and November),while dust emissions and farming disturbances comprised the second period.The interannual variation in pollution periods among these years was large,showing similar trends from 2015 to 2017 and the postponed late-autumn pollution period in 2018.Our evaluation has shown that the prohibition effect of straw burning significantly improved air quality in 2018,with a reduction of 59%±88%in the PM2.5 concentrations in October and November compared to 2015–2017.However,From October to April of the following year,the improvement effect was not significant due to postponement of straw burning to February or March.Our analysis also highlighted the roles of meteorological conditions,Therefore,combined with the promotion of straw utilization,scientifically prescribed burning considering the burning amount and location,meteorological conditions and regional transportation should be implemented.Lili Li Kun Wang Weiwei Chen Qingliang Zhao Lijuan Liu Wei Liu Yang Liu Junqiu Jiang Jiumeng Liu Mengduo Zhang 2020Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,11:3
14Precision Grinding of Reaction Bonded Silicon Carbide Using Coarse Grain Size Diamond Wheels显示文摘Reaction bonded SiC(RBSiC) is attractive for optical application because of its favorable properties and low fabrication cost. However, the difficultness and cost involved in RBSiC grinding limit its application. The investigation on high efficient and low-cost machining with good grinding quality is desired. Generally, high efficient machining for RBSiC is realized by using coarse grain size grinding wheels, but serious grinding damage is inevitable. In this paper, monolayer nickel electroplated coarse grain size diamond grinding wheels with grain sizes of 46 μm, 91 μm, and 151 μm were applied to the grinding of RBSiC. An electrolytic in-process dressing(ELID) assisted conditioning technique was first developed by using cup shape copper bonded conditioning wheels with grain sizes of 15 μm and 91 μm to generate the conditioned coarse grain size wheels with minimized wheel run-out error within 2 μm, constant wheel peripheral envelop as well as top-flattened diamond grains. Then, the grinding experiments on RBSiC were carried out to investigate the grinding performance and material removal mechanism. The experimental results indicate that the developed conditioning technique is applicable and feasible to condition the coarse grain size diamond wheels under optimal conditioning parameters, and the material removal mechanism involved in RBSiC grinding is the combination of brittle fracture and ductile deformation to generate smooth ground surface. 15Plant buffering against the high-light stress- induced accumulation of CsGA2ox8 transcripts via alter native splici ng to fi n ely tune gibberelli n levels and maintain hypocotyl elongation显示文摘In plants,alternative splicing(AS)is markedly induced in response to environmental stresses,but it is unclear why plants generate multiple transcripts under stress conditions.In this study,RNA-seq was performed to identify AS events in cucumber seedlings grown under different light intensities.We identi fi ed a novel transcript of the gibberellin(GA)-deactivating enzyme Gibberellin 2-beta-dioxygenase 8(CsGA2ox8).Compared with canonical CsGA2ox8.1,the CsGA2ox8.2 isoform presented intron retention between the second and third exons.Functional analysis proved that the transcript of CsGA2ox8.1 but not CsGA2ox8.2 played a role in the deactivation of bioactive GAs.Moreover,expression analysis demonstrated that both transcripts were upregulated by increased light intensity,but the expression level of CsGA2ox8.1 increased slowly when the light intensity was>400μmol-m-2-s-1 PPFD(photosynthetic photon fl ux density),while the CsGA2ox8.2 transcript levels increased rapidly when the light intensity was>200 pmol-m-2-s-1 PPFD.Our fi ndings provide evidence that plants might fi nely tune their GA levels by buffering against the normal transcripts of CsGA2ox8 through AS.Bin Liu Shuo Zhao Pengli Li Yilu Yin Qingliang Niu Jinqiang Yan Danfeng Huang 2021Horticulture Research2021,8,1:2
16A review of ARGs in WWTPs:Sources,stressors and elimination显示文摘Antibiotic re sistance genes(ARGs)in aquatic enviro nments,which seriously endanger human health and ecological safety,have become a worldwide concern due to their easy diffusion and proliferation.Wastewater treatment plants(WWTPs),which receive resistant bacteria and ARGs from a wide variety of sources(i.e.,livestock farms,hospitals,antibiotic manufactures,and households),are regarded as important emission sources of aquatic ARGs.This review presents a quantitative profile of the majority sources of ARGs in the influent of WWTPs and discusses the potential factors that affect the concentration distribution of ARGs.Specifically,a noteworthy existence of ARGs,which ranged from 1 E+05 to 1 E+11 copies/mL,was detected in livestock breeding wastewater,and household wastewater(caused by the unlimited utilization of antibiotics)was determined to be the predominant contributor of ARGs in WWTPs.We summarized the selective pressure on ARGs and determined the positive correlation of the concentration of ARGs and the existence of many containments,including antibiotics,heavy metals(Zn and Cu were frequently reported),quaternary ammonium compounds,etc.In the last section,physical,chemical,and biological treatments for the removal of ARGs and their effluent in WWTPs are discussed and prospective future studies are summarized.Kena Qin Liangliang Wei Jianju Li Bo Lai Fengyi Zhu Hang Yu Qingliang Zhao Kun Wang 2020Chinese Chemical Letters2020,31,10:2
17Textbook Outcome as a measure of surgical quality assessment and prognosis in gastric neuroendocrine carcinoma:A large multicenter sample analysis显示文摘Objective:Quality assurance is crucial for oncological surgical treatment assessment.For rare diseases,singlequality indicators are not enough.We aim to develop a comprehensive and reproducible measurement,called the'Textbook Outcome'(TO),to assess the quality of surgical treatment and prognosis of gastric neuroendocrine carcinoma(G-NEC)patients.Methods:Data from patients with primary diagnosed G-NEC included in 24 high-volume Chinese hospitals from October 2005 to September 2018 were analyzed.TO included receiving a curative resection,≥15 lymph nodes examined,no severe postoperative complications,hospital stay≤21 d,and no hospital readmission≤30 d after discharge.Hospital variation in TO was analyzed using a case mix-adjusted funnel plot.Prognostic factors of survival and risk factors for non-Textbook Outcome(non-TO)were analyzed using Cox and logistic models,respectively.Results:TO was achieved in 56.6%of 860 G-NEC patients.TO patients had better overall survival(OS),disease-free survival(DFS),and recurrence-free survival(RFS)than non-TO patients(P<0.05).Moreover,TO patients accounted for 60.3%of patients without recurrence.Multivariate Cox analysis revealed non-TO as an independent risk factor for OS,DFS,and RFS of G-NEC patients(P<0.05).Increasing TO rates were associated with improved OS for G-NEC patients,but not hospital volume.Multivariate logistic regression revealed that nonlower tumors,open surgery,and>200 mL blood loss were independent risk factors for non-TO patients(P<0.05).Conclusions:TO is strongly associated with multicenter surgical quality and prognosis for G-NEC patients.Factors predicting non-TO are identified,which may help guide strategies to optimize G-NEC outcomes.Qiyue Chen Zhongliang Ning Zhiyu Liu Yanbing Zhou Qingliang He Yantao Tian Hankun Hao Wei Lin Lixin Jiang Gang Zhao Ping Li Chaohui Zheng Changming Huang on behalf of the Study Group for Gastric Neuroendocrine Tumors 2021Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2021,33,4:2
18Low phosphorus promotes NSP1–NSP2 heterodimerization to enhance strigolactone biosynthesis and regulate shoot and root architecture in rice显示文摘Phosphorus is an essential macronutrient for plant development and metabolism,and plants have evolved ingenious mechanisms to overcome phosphate(Pi)starvation.However,the molecular mechanisms underlying the regulation of shoot and root architecture by low phosphorus conditions and the coordinated utilization of Pi and nitrogen remain largely unclear.Here,we show that Nodulation Signaling Pathway 1(NSP1)and NSP2 regulate rice tiller number by promoting the biosynthesis of strigolactones(SLs),a class of phytohormones with fundamental effects on plant architecture and environmental responses.We found that NSP1 and NSP2 are induced by Oryza sativa PHOSPHATE STARVATION RESPONSE2(OsPHR2)in response to low-Pi stress and form a complex to directly bind the promoters of SL biosynthesis genes,thus markedly increasing SL biosynthesis in rice.Interestingly,the NSP1/2–SL signaling module represses the expression of CROWN ROOTLESS 1(CRL1),a newly identified early SL-responsive gene in roots,to restrain lateral root density under Pi deficiency.We also demonstrated that GR24^(4DO) treatment under normal conditions inhibits the expression of OsNRTs and OsAMTs to suppress nitrogen absorption but enhances the expression of OsPTs to promote Pi absorption,thus facilitating the balance between nitrogen and phosphorus uptake in rice.Importantly,we found that NSP1p:NSP1 and NSP2p:NSP2 transgenic plants show improved agronomic traits and grain yield under low-and medium-phosphorus conditions.Taken together,these results revealed a novel regulatory mechanism of SL biosynthesis and signaling in response to Pi starvation,providing genetic resources for improving plant architecture and nutrient-use efficiency in low-Pi environments.Kun Yuan Hao Zhang Chaoji Yu Nan Luo Jijun Yan Shuang Zheng Qingliang Hu Dahan Zhang Liquan Kou Xiangbing Meng Yanhui Jing Mingjiang Chen Xinwei Ban Zongyun Yan Zefu Lu Jian Wu Yu Zhao Yan Liang Yonghong Wang Guosheng Xiong Jinfang Chu Ertao Wang Jiayang Li Bing Wang 2023Molecular Plant2023,16,11:2
