1Recent advances in endovascular techniques for management of acute nonvariceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding显示文摘Over the past two decades,transcatheter arterial embolization has become the first-line therapy for the management of upper gastrointestinal bleeding that is refractory to endoscopic hemostasis.Advances in catheter-based techniques and newer embolic agents, as well as recognition of the effectiveness of minimally invasive treatment options,have expanded the role of interventional radiology in the management of hemorrhage for a variety of indications,such as peptic ulcerbleeding,malignant disease,hemorrhagic Dieulafoy lesions and iatrogenic or trauma bleeding.Transcatheter interventions include the following:selective embolization of the feeding artery,sandwich coil occlusion of the gastroduodenal artery,blind or empiric embolization of the supposed bleeding vessel based on endoscopic findings and coil pseudoaneurysm or aneurysm embolization by three-dimensional sac packing with preservation of the parent artery.Transcatheter embolization is a fast,safe and effective,minimally invasive alternative to surgery when endoscopic treatment fails to control bleeding from the upper gastrointestinal tract.This article reviews the various transcatheter endovascular techniques and devices that are used in a variety of clinical scenarios for the management of hemorrhagic gastrointestinal emergencies.Romaric F Loffroy Basem A Abualsaud Ming D Lin Pramod P Rao 2011World Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery2011,3,7:28
2Variations of organic carbon isotopic composition and its environmental significance during the last glacial on western Chinese Loess Plateau显示文摘A high-resolution loess section in the western Chinese Loess Plateau, Yuanbao Section, was sampled for organic carbon isotopic analyses. The soil organic carbon isotope (δ13Corg) varied be- tween ?22.6‰ and ?27.5‰ during the last glacial at the section. During the last interstadial, the δ 13Corg values were more negative than those in both early and late periods of the last glacial by 4‰. The iso- topic composition indicates a coupled response of the pure C3 plants to the temperature, precipitation and the concentration of atmospheric CO2. Decrease in temperature and the atmospheric CO2 concentration from the last interstadial to Last Glaicial Maximum (LGM) caused the organic carbon isotopes to be- come positive by 1.5‰―2.0‰. The amplitude of 4‰ in the δ 13Corg variation during the last glacial should be mainly caused by the precipitation change. Therefore, the δ 13Corg variations of the Yuanbao Section during the last glacial period documented the large-amplitude fluctuation of the monsoon precipita- tion, which is estimated to be 250―310 mm more during the last interstadial than that in the LGM, and 100 mm more than that during early last glacial. The rapid changes of the monsoon precipitation on mil-lennial scale during the last glacial have also been recorded in the isotopic variations in Yuanbao loess section. 4Design of Floating Mass Type Piezoelectric Actuator for Implantable Middle Ear Hearing Devices显示文摘To overcome some of the problems inherent in conventional hearing aids such as low gain at high frequencies due to acoustic feedback, discomfort in occlusion of the external ear canal and so on, implantable middle ear hearing devices (IMEHDs) have been developed over the past two decades. For such kinds of IMEHDs, this paper presents the design of a floating mass piezoelectric actuator using a PMN-30%PT stack as a new type of vibrator. The proposed piezoelectric actuator consists of only three components of a piezoelectric stack, a metal case and a clamp. For the purpose of aiding the design of this actuator, a coupling biomechanics model of human middle ear and the piezoelectric actuator was constructed. This model was built based on a complete set of computerized tomography section images of a healthy volunteer’s left ear by reverse engineering technology. The validity of this model was confirmed by comparing the motion of the tympanic membrane and stapes footplate obtained by this model with published experimental measurements on human temporal bones. It is shown that the designed actuator can be implanted on the incus long process by a simple surgical operation, and the stapes footplate displacement by its excitation at 10.5 V root-mean-square(RMS) voltage was equivalent to that from acoustic stimulation at 100 dB sound pressure level(SPL), which is adequate stimulation to the ossicular chain. 6FINITE ELEMENT METHODS FOR SOBOLEV EQUATIONS显示文摘A new high-order time-stepping finite element method based upon the high-order numerical integration formula is formulated for Sobolev equations, whose computations consist of an iteration procedure coupled with a system of two elliptic equations. The optimal and superconvergence error estimates for this new method are derived both in space and in time. Also, a class of new error estimates of convergence and superconvergence for the time-continuous finite element method is demonstrated in which there are no time derivatives of the exact solution involved, such that these estimates can be bounded by the norms of the known data. 7Effect of an Anionic Surfactant on Hydraulic Conductivities of Sodium- and Calcium-Saturated Soils显示文摘The effect of sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate (SDBS), an anionic surfactant used widely in household products and industrial processes, on saturated hydraulic conductivities (Ksat) of an Anthrosol saturated with sodium (Na-soil) or calcium (Ca-soil) was analyzed in a laboratory experiment using the constant head method, and adsorption and dispersion experiments were also conducted to infer the possible mechanisms of Ksat fluctuations. The results showed that SDBS was more intensely adsorbed in the Ca-soil than in the Na-soil. With an increase in the SDBS concentration, the stability of the Na-soil suspensions decreased when the SDBS concentration was less than 1.2 mmol L-1 and then above this concentration, increased markedly, while the stability of the Ca-soil suspensions increased gradually at all SDBS concentrations studied. 9Hepatoprotective ability of tetramethylpyrazine produced by Bacillus amyloliquefaciens显示文摘Tetramethylpyrazine(TTMP),an important aroma compound,was produced by Bacillus amyloliquefaciens XJB-104 with distillers’grains as raw material.The yield of TTMP under optimized fermentation procedure was 3176.52 mg/L.TTMP in the fermentation broth was purified and the purity(>99%)was measured by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry.Furthermore,the hepatoprotective activity of TTMP in ethanol-water system was evaluated by biochemical indicators of liver injury,parameters of antioxidant defense system and inflammatory response,and liver histopathological assessment in mice.Ethanol treatment increased serum levels of alanine aminotransferase,aspartate aminotransferase,alkaline phos-phatase and lactate dehydrogenase,suggesting liver damage.Both high and low dose of TTMP significantly decreased levels of these indicators.Furthermore,the reduction in the activities or concentrations of superoxide dismutase,catalase,reduced glutathione and malondialdehyde in liver tissue caused by ethanol was significantly alleviated by TTMP.Increased inflammatory cytokines including transcription factor,tumor necrosis factor,interleukin-1beta,interleukin,macrophage chemoattractant protein,inducible nitric oxide synthase and cyclooxygenase were also suppressed by TTMP treatment.It is concluded that TTMP in ethanol-water system has potential liver-protective activity,especially when ethanol is consumed at low doses for short periods of time.Wenqing Zhang Guanru Si Zhiming Rao Shuai Zong Jinglei Li Xian Zhang Chuanqiang Gao Zhou Ping Ming Ye 2021Systems Microbiology and Biomanufacturing2021,1,2:4
10Attributing Analysis on the Model Bias in Surface Temperature in the Climate System Model FGOALS-s2 through a Process-Based Decomposition Method显示文摘This study uses the coupled atmosphere–surface climate feedback–response analysis method(CFRAM) to analyze the surface temperature biases in the Flexible Global Ocean–Atmosphere–Land System model, spectral version 2(FGOALS-s2)in January and July. The process-based decomposition of the surface temperature biases, defined as the difference between the model and ERA-Interim during 1979–2005, enables us to attribute the model surface temperature biases to individual radiative processes including ozone, water vapor, cloud, and surface albedo; and non-radiative processes including surface sensible and latent heat fluxes, and dynamic processes at the surface and in the atmosphere. The results show that significant model surface temperature biases are almost globally present, are generally larger over land than over oceans, and are relatively larger in summer than in winter. Relative to the model biases in non-radiative processes, which tend to dominate the surface temperature biases in most parts of the world, biases in radiative processes are much smaller, except in the sub-polar Antarctic region where the cold biases from the much overestimated surface albedo are compensated for by the warm biases from nonradiative processes. The larger biases in non-radiative processes mainly lie in surface heat fluxes and in surface dynamics,which are twice as large in the Southern Hemisphere as in the Northern Hemisphere and always tend to compensate for each other. 13PROTACs: great opportunities for academia and industry显示文摘Although many kinds of therapies are applied in the clinic,drug-resistance is a major and unavoidable problem.Another disturbing statistic is the limited number of drug targets,which are presently only 20–25%of all protein targets that are currently being studied.Moreover,the focus of current explorations of targets are their enzymatic functions,which ignores the functions from their scaffold moiety.As a promising and appealing technology,PROteolysis TArgeting Chimeras(PROTACs)have attracted great attention both from academia and industry for finding available approaches to solve the above problems.PROTACs regulate protein function by degrading target proteins instead of inhibiting them,providing more sensitivity to drug-resistant targets and a greater chance to affect the nonenzymatic functions.PROTACs have been proven to show better selectivity compared to classic inhibitors.PROTACs can be described as a chemical knockdown approach with rapidity and reversibility,which presents new and different biology compared to other gene editing tools by avoiding misinterpretations that arise from potential genetic compensation and/or spontaneous mutations.PRTOACs have been widely explored throughout the world and have outperformed not only in cancer diseases,but also in immune disorders,viral infections and neurodegenerative diseases.Although PROTACs present a very promising and powerful approach for crossing the hurdles of present drug discovery and tool development in biology,more efforts are needed to gain to get deeper insight into the efficacy and safety of PROTACs in the clinic.More target binders and more E3 ligases applicable for developing PROTACs are waiting for exploration.Xiuyun Sun Hongying Gao Yiqing Yang Ming He Yue Wu Yugang Song Yan Tong Yu Rao 2019Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2019,4,1:3
14Single‑Atom Cobalt‑Based Electrochemical Biomimetic Uric Acid Sensor with Wide Linear Range and Ultralow Detection Limit显示文摘Uric acid(UA)detection is essential in diagnosis of arthritis,preeclampsia,renal disorder,and cardiovascular diseases,but it is very challenging to realize the required wide detection range and low detection limit.We present here a single-atom catalyst consisting of Co(Ⅱ)atoms coordinated by an average of 3.4 N atoms on an N-doped graphene matrix(A-Co-NG)to build an electrochemical biomimetic sensor for UA detection.The A-Co-NG sensor achieves a wide detection range over 0.4-41,950μM and an extremely low detection limit of 33.3±0.024 nM,which are much better than previously reported sensors based on various nanostructured materials.Besides,the A-Co-NG sensor also demonstrates its accurate serum diagnosis for UA for its practical application.Combination of experimental and theoretical calculation discovers that the catalytic process of the A-Co-NG toward UA starts from the oxidation of Co species to form a Co^3+-OH-UA*,followed by the generation of Co^3+-OH+^*UA_H,eventually leading to N-H bond dissociation for the formation of oxidized UA molecule and reduction of oxidized Co^3+to Co^2+for the regenerated A-Co-NG.This work provides a promising material to realize UA detection with wide detection range and low detection limit to meet the practical diagnosis requirements,and the proposed sensing mechanism sheds light on fundamental insights for guiding exploration of other biosensing processes.Fang Xin Hu Tao Hu Shihong Chen Dongping Wang Qianghai Rao Yuhang Liu Fangyin Dai Chunxian Guo Hong Bin Yang Chang Ming Li 2021Nano-Micro Letters2021,13,1:2

16Crystal structure of a secreted lipase from Gibberella zeae reveals a novel “double-lock” mechanism显示文摘Fusarium graminearum(sexual stage:Gibberella zeae)is the causative agent of Fusarium Head Blight(FHB),which is one of the most destructive plant disease of cereals,accounting for high grain yield losses,especially for wheat and maize.Like other fungal pathogens,several extracellular enzymes secreted by G.zeae are known to be involved in host infection.Among these secreted lipases,G.zeae lipase(GZEL),which is encoded by the FGL1 gene,was demonstrated to be crucial to G.zeae pathogenicity.However,the precise mechanism of GZEL remains unclear due to a lack of detailed structural information.In this study,we report the crystal structure of GZEL at the atomic level.The structure of GZEL displays distinct structural differences compared to reported homologues and indicates a unique“double lock”enzymatic mechanism.To gain insight into substrate/inhibitor recognition,we proposed a model of GZEL in complex with substrate and the lipase inhibitor ebelactone B(based on the reported structures of GZEL homologues),which defines possible substrate binding sites within the catalytic cleft and suggests an“anti sn-l”binding mode.These results pave the way to elucidating the mechanism of GZEL and thus provide clues for the design of anti-FHB inhibitors.Zhiyong Lou Ming Li Yuna Sun Ye Liu Zheng Liu Wenping Wu Zihe Rao 2010Protein & Cell2010,1,8:2
