| 1 | Kinetics of oxidation of dimethyl trisulfide by potassium permanganate in drinking water显示文摘Metabolites of algae such as geosmin, 2- methylisoborneol etc. are reported to induce pungent odors into drinking water and attract additional scientifc attention. Recently, in China, taste and odor outbreaks in drinking water supply have become increasingly common. In source water affected by eutrophication, dimethyl trisulfide, speculated to be produced by decayed algae, was found to be the source of taste and odor issues and can be removed effectively by usual oxidation agents. In this experimental study, batch scale tests were carried out focusing on the removal of dimethyl trisulfide. Reaction kinetics of dimethyl trisulfide oxidized by potassium permanganate in water had been studied; influence factors such as pH, organic substrate, other existed taste, and odor contaminant in equivalent concentration were also dis- cussed. Results showed that dimethyl trisulfide can be removed by potassium permanganate efficiently; the ratio can reach more than 70% with oxidant dosage of 4 mg. L~ and contact time prolonged to 120 min. The dimethyl trisulfide decomposition followed a second-order kinetics pattern with a rate constant k -- 0.00213 L.(min.mg)-1. Typically, the degradation rate of dimethyl trisulfide was increased with the increasing KMnO4 dosage, but dramatically dropped with the increasing levels of humic acid (1.8-4.5 mg. L-1) and other odor-causing compounds (e.g. fl-cyclocitral, 0-1886.0 pg.L-1). Solution pH (5.2- 9.0) and initial dimethyl trisulfide concentration did not significantly affected the degradation. | 2 | Possibility of women treated with fertility-sparing surgery fornon-epithelial ovarian tumors to safely and successfully becomepregnant--a Chinese retrospective cohort study among 148cases显示文摘This study was performed to evaluate the oncological and reproductive outcomes of childbearing-agewomen treated with fertility-sparing surgery (FSS) for non-epithelial ovarian tumors in China. One hundred andforty eight non-epithelial ovarian tumor women treated with FSS between January I, 2000 and August 31, 2015from two medical centers in China were identified. Progression-free survival (PFS) was 88.5%, whereas overallsurvival (OS) was 93.9%. Univariate analysis suggested that delivery after treatment is related to PFS (P = 0.023),whereas histology significantly influenced OS. Cox regression analysis suggested that only histology was associatedwith PFS and OS (P 〈 0.05). Among the 129 women who completed adjuvant chemotherapy (ACT), nonedeveloped amenorrhea. Among the 44 women who desired pregnancy, 35 (79.5%) successfully had 51 gestationsincluding 35 live births without birth defects. Non-epithelial ovarian tumors can achieve fulfilling prognosis afterFSS and chemotherapy. Histology might be the only independent prognostic factor for PFS and OS. FSS followedby ACT appeared to have little or no effect on fertility. Meanwhile, postoperative pregnancy did not increase thePFS or OS. | 3 | Full-Stokes polarization transformations and time sequence metasurface holographic display显示文摘With the development of micro/nano fabrication technology, metasurface holography has emerged as a revolutionary technology for the manipulation of light with excellent performance. However, for applications of full-Stokes polarization encryption and time sequence holographic display, multiplexing strategies of metasurfaces with large bandwidths and simple operations still need to be developed. As one of the most popular schemes of multiplexing, polarization multiplexed metasurfaces have shown flexible recording abilities for both free-space beam and surface waves. Here, by using a dielectric metasurface equipped with double phase holograms, we have achieved flexible polarization multiplexed transformations from one full-Stokes space to another. The vectorial hologram is optimized by a hybrid genetic algorithm and digitalized with subwavelength modulated units. Based on a quantitative map and remarkable information capacity, time sequence holographic display and complex optical encryption are experimentally demonstrated by changing input/output polarization channels in real time. | 8 | Knockdown of hepatocyte Perilipin-3 mitigates hepatic steatosis and steatohepatitis caused by hepatocyte CGI-58 deletion in mice显示文摘Comparative gene identification-58(CGI-58),also known asα/βhydrolase domain containing 5,is the co-activator of adipose triglyceride lipase that hydrolyzes triglycerides stored in the cytosolic lipid droplets.Mutations in CGI-58 gene cause Chanarin-Dorfman syndrome(CDS),an autosomal recessive neutral lipid storage disease with ichthyosis.The liver pathology of CDS manifests as steatosis and steatohepatitis,which currently has no effective treatments.Perilipin-3(Plin3)is a member of the Perilipin-ADRP-TIP47 protein family that is essential for lipid droplet biogenesis.The objective of this study was to test a hypothesis that deletion of a major lipid droplet protein alleviates fatty liver pathogenesis caused by CGI-58 deficiency in hepatocytes.Adult CGI-58-floxed mice were injected with adeno-associated vectors simultaneously expressing the Cre recombinase and microRNA against Plin3 under the control of a hepatocyte-specific promoter,followed by high-fat diet feeding for 6 weeks.Liver and blood samples were then collected from these animals for histological and biochemical analysis.Plin3 knockdown in hepatocytes prevented steatosis,steatohepatitis,and necroptosis caused by hepatocyte CGI-58 deficiency.Our work is the first to show that inhibiting Plin3 in hepatocytes is sufficient to mitigate hepatocyte CGI-58 deficiency-induced hepatic steatosis and steatohepatitis in mice. | Xinyu Bao Xiaogen Ma Rongfeng Huang Jianghui Chen Haoran Xin Meiyu Zhou Lihua Li Shifei Tong Qian Zhang Guanghou Shui Fang Deng Liqing Yu Min-Dian Li Zhihui Zhang | 2022 | Journal of Molecular Cell Biology2022,14,8: | 0 |
| 9 | The numerical simulation of caesium-137 transportation in oceanand the assessment of its radioactive impacts after Fukushima NPP release显示文摘After the damage of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, a great number of radioactive materials were released into the Pacific Ocean. Therefore, it is necessary to research on the temporal and spatial distribution of these radionuclides. We use Princeton Ocean Model to simulate the circulation of the coast water of Fukushima NPP and obtain the concentration of caesium-137 by solving the diffusion equations. We employ the Monte Carlo N-particle(MCNP) code to assess the external doses caused by these contaminated sea water. To improve the efficiency and effectiveness of volume source in MCNP code, we establish a transformation method between spot source and volume source, and determine an appropriate range of volume source. | 10 | Single-atomic Zn-(C/N/O)lithiophilic sites induced stable lithium plating/stripping in anode-free lithium metal battery显示文摘For anode-free lithium metal battery,lithiophilic surface modification on the current collector can effectively reduce the lithium nucleation barrier,so as to regulate the electrodeposition of lithium.Here,atomically dispersed Zn-(C/N/O)lithiophilic sites in the amorphous carbon medium were introduced onto Cu by an in-situ induced ion coordination chemistry strategy to get the modified Zn@NC@RGO@Cu current collector.X-ray absorption spectroscopy(XAS)combined with scanning transmission electron microscopy in high angle annular dark field(STEM-HAADF)analysis proved the single atomic state of the zinc sites surrounded by C,N,and O with a coordination number of~3.According to the electrochemical tests and first principle calculations,the ultra-uniformly dispersed Zn-(C/N/O)sites at the atomic level can effectively improve the lithium affinity,reduce the energy barrier for lithium nucleation,homogenize the lithium nucleation,and enhance an inorganic lithium compounds rich solid electrolyte interphase layer.As a result,the nucleation overpotential of lithium on the modified current collector was reduced to 7.7 mV,which was 5.4 times lower than that on bare Cu.Uniform lithium nucleation and deposition enabled stable Li plating/stripping and elevated Coulombic efficiency of 98.95%in Li||Cu cell after>850 cycles.Capacity retention of 89.7%was successfully achieved in the anode-free lithium metal battery after 100 cycles. | Shifei Huang Sirong Lu Yao Lv Nanrui Li Zhenwei Wu Geng Zhong Xiaolong Ren Yufeng Wang Bo Sun Yuxiong Huang Feiyu Kang Yidan Cao | 2023 | Nano Research2023,16,8: | 0 |
