| 3 | Tree-Ring Latewood Width Based July–August SPEI Reconstruction in South China since 1888 and Its Possible Connection with ENSO显示文摘Our understanding of the long-term hydroclimate variations in South China is prohibited by the shortness of meteorological records. Paleoclimatic proxies, such as tree-rings, can be pursued to extend the meteorological records back for centuries to help us better understand hydroclimatic conditions. In this study, we reconstructed the July–August standardized precipitation–evapotranspiration index(SPEI_(Jul–Aug)) based on a newly developed 127-yr adjusted latewood width chronology from Tsuga longibracteata, South China. The chronology explained 40% of the actual SPEI_(Jul–Aug) variance in the period 1953–2014. The reconstructed SPEI_(Jul–Aug) can represent large-scale July–August SPEI variations over South China, including northern Guangxi, Hunan, and Guizhou provinces. From the perspective of the past 127 years, the extreme summer drought in 2013 was not unusual because more extreme drought events occurred in the first half of the 20th century. A significant 2.0–3.6-yr hydroclimatic cycle existed in the reconstruction, which indicated that the SPEI_(Jul–Aug) might be driven by El Ni?o–Southern Oscillation(ENSO). We further checked the time-dependency of the relationship between SPEI_(Jul–Aug) and ENSO and found that it was unstable. | 4 | The diffusive fluxes of inorganic nitrogen across the intertidal sediment-water interface of the Changjiang Estuary in China显示文摘Ammonium and nitrate concentrations were analyzed in near-bottom water and pore water collected from ten stations of the intertidal flat of the Changjiang Estuary during April, July, November and February. The magnitudes of the benthic exchange fluxes were determined on the basis of concentration gradients of ammonium and nitrate at the near-bottom water and interstitial water interface in combination with calculations of a modified Fick’s first law. Ammonium fluxes varied from-5.05 to 1.43 μg/(cm 2 ·d) and were greatly regulated by the production of ammonium in surface sediments, while nitrate fluxes ranged from-0.38 to 1.36 μg/(cm 2 ·d) and were dominated by nitrate concentrations in the tidal water. It was found that ammonium was mainly released from sediments into water columns at most of stations whereas nitrate was mostly diffused from overlying waters to intertidal sediments. In total, 823.75 t/a ammonium-N was passed from intertidal sediments to water while about 521.90 t/a nitrate-N was removed from overlying waters to intertidal sediments. | 9 | Circular RNA SMARCA5 suppressed non-small cell lung cancer progression by regulating miR-670-5p/RBM24 axis显示文摘Circular RNAs(circRNAs)have good stability and long half-life in blood and other body fluid,and possess regulatory effects on various biological processes as miRNA/RNA-binding protein sponges,or by competing endogenous RNA,indicating their great potential as biomarkers or targets of cancer therapy.In this study,we mainly explored the role and mechanism of circular RNA SMARCA5(circsSMARCA5)in non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC).Quantitative RT-PCR was applied to measure the expression levels of genes,and then,the relationships among circsSMARCA5,microRNA-670-5p(miR-670-5p),and RBM24 were further analyzed.Animal and cell experiments were performed to explore the functions of circsSMARCA5 in NSCLC cells.The results showed that circsSMARCA5 was expressed at low level in NSCLC tissues and cells,while miR-670-5p had high level in NSCLC tissues.Dual luciferase reporter assay verified that miR-670-5p was the target of circsSMARCA5,and RBM24 has the binding site of miR-670-5p.Further analysis showed that circsSMARCA5 could negatively regulate miR-670-5p and had positive relationship with RBM24.Moreover,circsSMARCA5 obviously inhibited tumor growth in vivo,reduced cell proliferation and increased cell apoptosis in vitro,while miR-670-5p mimic or RBM24 knockdown could reverse these effects.Thus,circsSMARCA5 may serve as an NSCLC suppressor by regulating the miR-670-5p/RBM24 axis,and it may have the potential to be a biomarker or therapeutic target for NSCLC. | Danjie Zhang Yuefeng Ma Zhenchuan Ma Shiyuan Liu Liangzhang Sun Jianzhong Li Feng Zhao Yu Li Jin Zhang Shaomin Li Jiantao Jiang | 2020 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2020,52,10: | 1 |

| 11 | Tunable Atomic-Scale Steps and Cavities Break Both Stability and Activity Limits of CoO_(x) Nanosheets to Catalyze Oxygen Evolution显示文摘A highly active interface can enhance the catalytic efficiency of catalysts toward the oxygen evolution reaction(OER).However,accurately tuning their atomic interface configurations of defects with sufficient activity and stability remains a grand challenge.Herein,we report on breaking the activity and stability limits of CoO_(x) nanosheets in the OER process by constructing copious high-energy atomic steps and cavities,in which S or Ce atoms simultaneously replace O or Co atoms from CoO_(x),thus achieving high-energy atomic interface Ce,O-Co_(3)S_(4) nanosheets.By combining in situ characterization and density functional theory calculations,it is shown that the unique orbital coupling between Ce-4f,O(S)-2p,and Co-3d causes it to be closer to the Fermi level,leading to faster charge transfer capability.More importantly,the novel structure breaks the stability limit of cobalt sulfide with planar defects,which gives high catalytic activity and stability in 0.1 M KOH solutions,better than commercial RuO_(2) and IrO_(2) noble metal catalysts.As expected,Ce,O-Co_(3)S_(4) possesses much better turnover frequency activity(0.064 s^(-1))at an overpotential of 300 mV,which is ~7 times larger than that of Ce-CoO_(x)(0.009 s^(-1)).Our work presents a new perspective of designing catalysts with atomically dispersed orbital electronic coupling defects toward efficient OER electrocatalysis. | Min Yu Xueqin Mu Weitao Meng Ziyue Chen Yu Tong Yu Ge Shiyuan Pang Shengjie Li Suli Liu Shichun Mu | 2023 | Renewables2023,1,4: | 1 |
| 12 | Influence of superior cervical ganglionectomy on hippocampal neurogenesis and learning and memory in adult rats显示文摘BACKGROUND:Studies have shown that neurogenesis in the dentate gyrus plays an important role in learning and memory.However,studies have not determined whether the superior cervical ganglion or the sympathetic nerve system influences hippocampal neurogenesis or learning and memory in adult rats. OBJECTIVE:To observe differences in dentate gyrus neurogenesis,as well as learning and memory,in adult rats following superior cervical ganglionectomy. DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:A randomized,controlled,animal study was performed at the Immunohistochemistry Laboratory of the School of Life Sciences in Lanzhou University from July 2006 to July 2007. MATERIALS:Doublecortin polyclonal antibody was provided by Santa Cruz Biotechnology,USA; avidin-biotin-peroxidase complex was purchased from Zhongshan Goldenbride Biotechnology, China;Morris water maze was bought from Taimeng Technology,China. METHODS:A total of 20 adult,male,Wistar rats were randomly divided into surgery and control groups,with 10 rats in each group.In the surgery group,the bilateral superior cervical ganglions were transected.In the control group,the superior cervical ganglions were only exposed,but no ganglionectomy was performed. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:To examine distribution,morphology,and number of newborn neurons in the dentate gyrus using doublecortin immunohistochemistry at 36 days following surgical procedures.To examine ability of learning and memory in adult rats using the Morris water maze at 30 days following surgical procedures. RESULTS:Doublecortin immunohistochemical results showed that a reduction in the number of doublecortin-positive neurons in the surgery group compared to the control group(P<0.05),while the distribution of doublecortin-positive neurons was identical in the two groups.The surgery group exhibited significantly worse performance in learning and spatial memory tasks compared to the control group(P<0.05). Experiments show that the compounds consist of a magnetic perovskite phase and non-magnetic CeO2 and Mn3O4. The resistivity and magnetoresistance ratio (MR) of the samples vary with changing x. Their room-temperature MR reaches -3%~-14% at the magnetic field of 1 T.
