1Geochemical and isotopic characteristics of volcanic rocks from the northern East China Sea shelf margin and the Okinawa Trough显示文摘Volcanic rocks both from the northern East China Sea (NECS) shelf margin and the northern Okinawa Trough are subalkaline less aluminous,and lower in High Field Strength Elements (HFSE).These rocks are higher in Large Ion Lithophile Elements (LILE),thorium and uranium contents,positive lead anomalies,negative Nb-Ta anomalies,and enrichment in Light Rare Earth Elements (LREE).Basalts from the NECS shelf margin are akin to Indian Ocean Mid-Ocean Ridge Basalt (MORB),and rhyolites from the northern Okinawa Trough have the highest 207 Pb/ 204 Pb and 208 Pb/ 204 Pb ratios.The NECS shelf margin basalts have lower 87 Sr/ 86 Sr ratios,ε N d and σ 18 O than the northern Okinawa Trough silicic rocks.According to 40 K– 40 Ar isotopic ages of basalts from the NECS shelf margin,rifting of the Okinawa Trough may have been active since at least 3.65–3.86 Ma.The origin of the NECS shelf margin basalt can be explained by the interaction of melt derived from Indian Ocean MORB-like mantle with enriched subcontinental lithosphere.The basalts from both sides of the Okinawa Trough may have a similar origin during the initial rifting of the Okinawa Trough,and the formation of basaltic magmas closely relates to the thinning of continental crust.The source of the formation of the northern Okinawa Trough silicic rocks was different from that of the middle Okinawa Trough,which could have been generated by the interaction of basaltic melt with an enriched crustal component.From the Ryukyu island arc to East China,the Cenozoic basalts have apparently increasing trends of MgO contents and ratios of LREE to Heavy Rare Earth Elements (HREE),suggesting that the trace element variabilities of basalts may have been influenced by the subduction of the Philippine Sea plate,and that the effects of subduction of the Philippine Sea plate on the chemical composition of basaltic melts have had a decreasing effect from the Ryukyu island arc to East China.ZENG Zhigang YU Shaoxiong WANG Xiaoyuan FU Yongtao YIN Xuebo ZHANG Guoliang WANG Xiaomei CHEN Shuai 2010Acta Oceanologica Sinica2010,29,4:19
2Multi-objective optimization of aircraft design for emission and cost reductions显示文摘Pollutant gases emitted from the civil jet are doing more and more harm to the environment with the rapid development of the global commercial aviation transport. Low environmental impact has become a new requirement for aircraft design. In this paper,estimation method for emission in aircraft conceptual design stage is improved based on the International Civil Aviation Organization(ICAO) aircraft engine emissions databank and the polynomial curve fitting methods. The greenhouse gas emission(CO2equivalent) per seat per kilometer is proposed to measure the emissions. An approximate sensitive analysis and a multi-objective optimization of aircraft design for tradeoff between greenhouse effect and direct operating cost(DOC) are performed with five geometry variables of wing configuration and two flight operational parameters. The results indicate that reducing the cruise altitude and Mach number may result in a decrease of the greenhouse effect but an increase of DOC. And the two flight operational parameters have more effects on the emissions than the wing configuration. 3Clinicopathological Characteristics and Prognosis of Hepatoid Adenocarcinoma of the Stomach:Evaluation of a Pooled Case Series显示文摘Hepatoid adenocarcinoma of the stomach (HAS)is an extremely rare and unique gastric malignancy.The present study aimed to examine the relevance of the clinicopathological characteristics of HAS with patient prognosis.We retrospectively reviewed clinical data of 34 HAS patients treated at our institution between January 2010 and December 2016,as well as 294 cases reported prior to 2017 in research databases.Among these patients,45.6%(115/252)had lesions in the gastric antrum and 77.0%(235/305)were male.Elevated levels of serum alpha-fetoprotein (AFP)were detected in most patients(75/93,80.6%).Vascular invasion(199/286,69.6%),lymph node metastasis (222/283,78.4%),and preoperative distant metastasis (121/328,36.9%)were commonly observed.The 5-year disease-free survival (DFS)and disease-specific survival (DSS) were 20.7%and 29.2%,respectively.DFS and DSS of patients receiving neoadjuvant therapy were significantly higher than those of patients receiving postoperative adjuvant therapy [DFS:P<0.001, hazard ratio (HR)=-1.831,95%confidence interval (CI):0.060-0.429;DSS:P<0.001,HR=-2.185, 95%CI:0.032-0.401].In conclusion,HAS exhibits distinct clinicopathological characteristics and a strikingly worse prognosis when compared with common gastric cancer.Complete surgery,early pTNM stage,and adjuvant therapy may predict a more favorable prognosis.Neoadjuvant therapy is strongly recommended for patients with lymph node metastasis or/and preoperative distant metastasis.Xiang-yu ZENG Yu-ping YIN Hua XIAO Peng ZHANG Jun HE Wei-zhen LIU Jin-bo GAO Xiao-ming SHUAI Guo-bin WANG Xiu-li WU Kai-xiong TAO 2018Current Medical Science2018,38,6:17
4Effects of dietary protein restriction on muscle fiber characteristics and m TORC1 pathway in the skeletal muscle of growing-finishing pigs显示文摘Background: To investigate the effects of dietary crude protein(CP) restriction on muscle fiber characteristics and key regulators related to protein deposition in skeletal muscle, a total of 18 growing-finishing pigs(62.30 ± 0.88 kg)were allotted to 3 groups and fed with the recommended adequate protein(AP, 16 % CP) diet, moderately restricted protein(MP, 13 % CP) diet and low protein(LP, 10 % CP) diet, respectively. The skeletal muscle of different locations in pigs, including longissimus dorsi muscle(LDM), psoas major muscle(PMM) and biceps femoris muscle(BFM) were collected and analyzed.Results: Results showed that growing-finishing pigs fed the MP or AP diet improved(P < 0.01) the average daily gain and feed: gain ratio compared with those fed the LP diet, and the MP diet tended to increase(P = 0.09) the weight of LDM. Moreover, the ATP content and energy charge value were varied among muscle samples from different locations of pigs fed the reduced protein diets. We also observed that pigs fed the MP diet up-regulated(P < 0.05) muscular m RNA expression of all the selected key genes, except that myosin heavy chain(My HC) IIb,My HC IIx, while m RNA expression of ubiquitin ligases genes was not affected by dietary CP level. 5Solution structure of the RNA recognition domain of METTL3-METTL14 N^6-methyladenosine methyltransferase显示文摘N^6-methyladenosine(m6A),a ubiquitous RNA modification,is installed by METTL3-METTL14 complex.The structure of the heterodimeric complex between the methyltransferase domains(MTDs)of METTL3 and METTL14 has been previously determined.However,the MTDs alone possess no enzymatic activity.Here we present the solution structure for the zinc finger domain(ZFD)of METTL3,the inclusion of which fulfills the methyltransferase activity of METTL3-METTL14.We show that the ZFD specifically binds to an RNA containing 5'-GGACU-3'consensus sequence,but does not to one without.The ZFD thus serves as the target recognition domain,a structural feature previously shown for DNA methyltransferases,and cooperates with the MTDs of METTL3-METTL14 for catalysis.However,the interaction between the ZFD and the specific RNA is extremely weak,with the binding affinity at several hundred micromolar under physiological conditions.The ZFD contains two CCCH-type zinc fingers connected by an anti-parallel P-sheet.Mutational analysis and NMR titrations have mapped the functional interface to a contiguous surface.As a division of labor,the RNA-binding interface comprises basic residues from zinc finger 1 and hydrophobic residues fromβ-sheet and zinc finger 2.Further we show that the linker between the ZFD and MTD of METTL3 is flexible but partially folded,which may permit the cooperation between the two domains during catalysis.Together,the structural characterization of METTL3 ZFD paves the way to elucidate the atomic details of the entire process of RNA m6A modification.Jinbo Huang Xu Dong Zhou Gong Ling-Yun Qin Shuai Yang Yue-Ling Zhu Xiang Wang Delin Zhang Tingting Zou Ping Yin Chun Tang 2019Protein & Cell2019,10,4:11
6Cerebral mechanism of puncturing at He-Mu point combination for functional dyspepsia: study protocol for a randomized controlled parallel trial显示文摘Acupuncture is widely used to treat functional dyspepsia with satisfactory outcomes. Combination of the He and Mu acupoints is commonly used and has a synergistic effect on functional dyspepsia; however, its underlying mechanisms remain unclear. Therefore, a randomized controlled parallel clinical trial is currently underway at Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, China. This trial is designed to explore the efficacy of and central responses to the He-Mu point combination in patients with functional dyspepsia using functional magnetic resonance imaging. A total of 105 patients with functional dyspepsia will be allocated into 3 groups: the low-He point group(puncturing at Zusanli(ST36)), Mu point group(puncturing at Zhongwan(CV12)), and He-Mu point combination group(puncturing at ST36 and CV12). Every participant will receive 20 sessions of manual acupuncture for 4 weeks. The needles will be inserted perpendicularly to a depth of 1 to 2 cun. The angle of rotation and twisting will range from 90 to 180 degrees, while lifting and thrusting will range from 0.3 to 0.5 cm. The various manipulations will be performed 60 to 90 times per minute. The needles will remain in place for 30 minutes, during which manipulation will be applied every 10 minutes. Magnetic resonance imaging will be performed before and after 20 sessions of acupuncture. The primary outcome is symptom improvement according to the Chinese version of the Nepean Dyspepsia Index. Secondary outcomes include the Leeds dyspepsia questionnaire, Self-Rating Anxiety Scale, Self-Rating Depression Scale, Beck Anxiety Inventory, Beck Depression Inventory, and visual analogue scale scores before and after 10 and 20 sessions of acupuncture. Needle sensation and adverse events will be used to assess the therapeutic effects. This study will promote more widespread awareness of the benefits of acupoint combination in the clinical setting and provide a further explanation of the neuromechanism by which acupuncture at the He-Mu point combination for functional dyspepsia. 7Differential Characteristics of the Upper Ordovician-Lower Silurian Wufeng-Longmaxi Shale Reservoir and its Implications for Exploration and Development of Shale Gas in/around the Sichuan Basin显示文摘The Upper Ordovician Wufeng-Lower Silurian Longmaxi shale is widely distributed in the Sichuan Basin and its periphery,which is the key stratum for marine shale gas exploration and development(E&D)in China.Based on sedimentary environment,material basis,storage space,fracability and reservoir evolution data,the reservoir characteristics of the Wufeng-Longmaxi shale and their significance for shale gas E&D are systematically compared and analyzed in this paper.The results show that(1)the depocenter of the Wufeng(WF)-Longmaxi(LM)shale gradually migrates from east to west.The high-quality shale reservoirs in the eastern Sichuan Basin are mainly siliceous shales,which are primarily distributed in the graptolite shale interval of WF2-LM5.The high-quality reservoirs in the southern Sichuan Basin are mainly calcareous-siliceous and organic-rich argillaceous shales,which are distributed in the graptolite shale interval of WF2-LM7.(2)Deep shale gas(the burial depth>3500 m)in the Sichuan Basin has high-ultrahigh pressure and superior physical properties.The organic-rich siliceous,calcareous-siliceous and organic-rich argillaceous shales have suitable reservoir properties.The marginal area of the Sichuan Basin has a higher degree of pressure relief,which leads to the argillaceous and silty shales evolving into direct cap rocks with poor reservoir/good sealing capacity.(3)Combining shale gas exploration practices and impacts of lithofacies,depth,pressure coefficient and brittle-ductile transition on the reservoir properties,it is concluded that the favorable depth interval of the Wufeng-Longmaxi shale gas is 2200~4000 m under current technical conditions.(4)Aiming at the differential reservoir properties of the Wufeng-Longmaxi shale in the Sichuan Basin and its periphery,several suggestions for future research directions and E&D of shale gas are formulated.WANG Ruyue HU Zongquan LONG Shengxiang LIU Guangxiang ZHAO Jianhua DONG Li DU Wei WANG Pengwei YIN Shuai 2019Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2019,93,3:8
8Change rules of a stratospheric airship's envelope shape during ascent process显示文摘Stratospheric airship is a special near-space air vehicle,and has more advantages than other air vehicles,such as long endurance,strong survival ability,excellent resolution,low cost,and so on,which make it an ideal stratospheric platform.It is of great significance to choose a reasonable and effective way to launch a stratospheric airship to the space for both academic research and engineering applications.In this paper,the non-forming launch way is studied and the method of differential pressure gradient is used to study the change rules of the airship's envelope shape during the ascent process.Numerical simulation results show that the head of the envelope will maintain the inflatable shape and the envelope under the zero-pressure level will be compressed into a wide range of wrinkles during the ascent process.The airship's envelope will expand with the ascent of the airship and the position of the zero-pressure level will move downward constantly.At the same time,the envelope will gradually form a certain degree of stiffness under the action of the inner and external differential pressure.The experimental results agree well with the analytical results,which shows that the non-forming launch way is effective and reliable,and the analytical method has exactness and feasibility.Zhao Shuai Liu Dongxu Zhao Da Wu Gang Yin Shi Zhou Pan 2017Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2017,30,2:7
9Succession of Denitrifying Community Composition in Coastal Wetland Soils Along a Salinity Gradient显示文摘To better understand the effect of salinity on denitrification communities,soils along a salinity gradient (ranging from 7.32 to 1.70 mS cm 1) in a wetland along the Yellow Sea coastline in Jiangsu Province,China,were studied using both culture-dependent and-independent methods.Culture efforts yielded 82 isolates in total,81.7% of which were close relatives of Bacillus sp.based on partial sequences of their 16S rRNA genes.Denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) analysis based on 16S rRNA sequences suggested possible existence of bacterial community succession along the salinity gradient.Clone library analysis based on nosZ gene sequences (coding nitrous oxide reductase) showed that operational taxonomic units (OTUs) associated with α-proteobacteria dominated in all three soils,whereas those associated with β-and γ-subdivisions showed a clear succession.In the high salinity soil,only the OTUs associated with α-subdivision were found.In the medium salinity soil,small proportions of β-(6.5%) and γ-associated (19.6%) OTUs were found.In the low salinity soil,the proportions were further increased to 33% and 25% for β-and γ-Proteobacteria,respectively.Statistic analysis using Unifrac P test showed that nosZ-communities in different saline soils were significantly different from each other.It could be concluded that α-subdivision of nosZ-community tended to be sustained in high salinity environments whereas β-and γ-subdivisions,especially the former,tended to be sustained in low salinity environments.Salinity was the key determinant of nosZ-community composition in the environment.PIAO Zhe ZHANG Wen-Wen MA Shuai LI Yu-Min YIN Shi-Xue 2012Pedosphere2012,22,3:7
10Mineralogical and micromorphological characteristics of Si-Fe-Mn oxyhydroxides from the PACMANUS hydrothermal field, Eastern Manus Basin显示文摘The mineralogical and micromorphological characteristics of Si-Fe-Mn oxyhydroxides from the dacite-hosted PACMANUS hydrothermal field were analyzed.The samples are poorly crystallized Si-Fe-Mn oxyhydroxides with minor birnessite, todorokite, nontronite, goethite, and opal-A.There are some microtextures which are rather like fossil microbes such as the filamentous silica and the hollow pipes.Flakes of nontronite crystals are found either forming a honeycomb texture or distrib- uted on the surface of the hollow pipes.Nontronite is the product precipitated from low-temperature hydrothermal fluids, and microbes may play a role in its formation.Si-Fe-Mn oxyhydroxides have two kinds of nuclei: Si-Mn nuclei and Si nuclei, both enveloped by the similar Si-Fe outer layer, existing in the rod-shaped oxyhydroxide and spheroidal oxyhydroxide, respectively.In the Si-Mn nuclei, the concentration of SiO2 is between 39.32 wt% and 86.31 wt%, and MnO concentration is between 4.97 wt% and 27.01 wt%, but Fe2O3 concentration is very low (0.54 wt%-3.43 wt%).In the Si nucleus the concentration of SiO2 is 90.17 wt%, but concentration of MnO and Fe2O3 are low, with 0.06 wt% and 3.47 wt%, respectively.The formation of the Si-Mn nucleus is closely related to microbes, whereas the Si nucleus is of inorganic origin.ZENG ZhiGang CHEN Shuai WANG XiaoYuan OUYANG HeGen YIN XueBo LI ZhaoXue 2012Science China Earth Sciences2012,55,12:7
11Rare earth elements in hydrothermal fluids from Kueishantao,off northeastern Taiwan: Indicators of shallow-water,sub-seafloor hydrothermal processes显示文摘The rare earth element(REE)geochemistry of hydrothermal vent systems has been investigated intensively,but few studies have been carried out on marine shallow-water hydrothermal systems like that at Kueishantao.Here we present novel data sets of REE in hydrothermal fluids from Kueishantao,off northeastern Taiwan.The total REE(REE)concentrations of yellowish fluids are similar to those of whitish fluids,813–1212 ng/L,and are significantly higher than that of ambient seawater.The yellowish fluids have chondrite-normalized REE(REEN)distribution patterns with slight convex-downward curvatures at Eu;and the REE patterns of the whitish fluids are smooth at Eu,which is related to the lower temperature and more oxidizing conditions.The Kueishantao hydrothermal fluids are slightly enriched in light REE(La-Nd)relative to the heavy REE(Gd-Lu).The behaviors of REE in both yellowish and whitish fluids are affected by the short time of water-rock interaction.The REE distributions in the yellowish fluids are also affected by very low pH(2.81 and 2.29),boiling of the fluid and precipitation of native sulfur.In the whitish fluids,adsorption by small particles and formation of REE-chloride complexes has played a role in the distribution of REE.WANG XiaoYuan ZENG ZhiGang CHEN Shuai YIN XueBo CHEN Chen-Tung Arthur 2013Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,32:7
12Supplementation of branched-chain amino acids in protein-restricted diets modulates the expression levels of amino acid transporters and energy metabolism associated regulators in the adipose tissue of growing pigs显示文摘This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of branched-chain amino acids(BCAA)supplemented in protein-restricted diets on the growth performance and the expression profile of amino acid transporters and energy metabolism related regulators in the white adipose tissue(WAT)of different regional depots including dorsal subcutaneous adipose(DSA) and abdominal subcutaneous adipose(ASA), A total of 24 crossbred barrows(7.40 ± 0.70 kg) were randomly divided into 4 groups and were fed the following isocaloric diets for 33 days: 1) a recommended adequate protein diet(AP, 20% CP, as a positive control); 2) a low protein diet(LP, 17% CP); 3) the LP diet supplemented with BCAA(LP + B, 17% CP) to reach the same level of the AP diet group; 4) the LP diet supplemented with 2 times the amount of BCAA(LP + 2B, 17% CP). The daily gain and daily feed intake of the LP diet group were the lowest among all the treatments(P < 0.01). The feed conversion was improved markedly in the group of LP + B compared with the LP diet group(P < 0.05). No significant difference was noted for the serum biochemical parameter concentrations of glucose, triglyceride, nonesterified fatty acid and insulin among the groups(P > 0.05). Moreover, BCAA supplementation down-regulated the expression levels of amino acid transporters including L-type amino acid transporter 1 and sodium-coupled neutral amino acid transporter 2 in DSA, but up-regulated the expression level of Ltype amino acid transporter 4 in ASA(P < 0.05), Meanwhile, the energy sensor AMP-activated protein kinase α was activated in the DSA of pigs fed LP diet and in the ASA of the pigs fed AP or LP + 2B diets(P < 0.05). The mRNA expression profile of the selected mitochondrial component and mitochondrial biogenesis associated regulators in DSA and ASA also responded differently to dietary BCAA supplementation. These results suggested that the growth performance of growing pigs fed protein restricted diets supplemented with BCAA could catch up to that of the pigs fed AP diets. 14The effect of adjuvant chemotherapy in resectable cholangiocarcinoma: A meta-analysis and systematic review显示文摘Background: The benefit of adjuvant chemotherapy for resectable cholangiocarcinoma remains unclear due to the lack of randomized control studies. This study aimed to investigate the possible benefit of postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy for resectable cholangiocarcinoma. Data sources: Relevant research articles published before 1 st March 2018 in Pub Med, Embase and the Cochrane library databases were retrieved. Published data were extracted and analyzed by RevMan 5.3, and the results were presented as hazard ratios(HRs) [95% confidence intervals(CI)] and forest plots. Results: One prospective and eighteen retrospective studies were included, with a total number of 11,458 patients, 4696 of whom received postoperative chemotherapy. There was a significant improvement of the overall survival(OS) for patients who underwent operation + adjuvant chemotherapy compared to those who underwent operation alone(HR = 0.61; P < 0.001). Subgroup analyses show that the postoperative chemotherapy group compared with operation alone group are indicated as follows: hilar cholangiocarcinoma group(HR = 0.60; P < 0.001), intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma group(HR = 0.60; P < 0.001), R1 resection group(HR = 0.71; P = 0.04), LN-positive diagnosis group(HR = 0.58; P < 0.001), gemcitabine-based chemotherapy group(HR = 0.42; P < 0.001), distal cholangiocarcinoma group(HR = 0.48; P = 0.17), R0 resection group(HR = 0.69; P = 0.43), and 5-flurouracil-based chemotherapy group(HR = 0.90; P = 0.66), respectively. Conclusions: Postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy can improve the OS in intrahepatic and hilar cholangiocarcinoma patients. However, distal cholangiocarcinoma patients gain no benefit from postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy. 15Research and development of new neodymium laser glasses显示文摘This work presents a brief introduction on three kinds of newly developed Nd^(3+)-doped laser glasses in Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics(SIOM), China. Two Nd^(3+)-doped phosphate glasses with lower thermal expansion coefficient and thermal shock resistance 4 times higher than that of N31 glass are developed for laser processing.Nd:Silicate and Nd:Aluminate glasses with peak emission wavelength at 1061 and 1065 nm, effective emission bandwidth of 34 and 50 nm, respectively, are developed for Exawatt-class laser system application. Fluorophosphate glasses with low nonlinear refractive index(n_2=0.6–0.86) and long fluorescence lifetime(430–510 μs) are investigated for the purpose of decreasing B integral in high-power laser system. 16Hydrothermal alteration of plagioclase microphenocrysts and glass in basalts from the East Pacific Rise near 13°N: An SEM-EDS study显示文摘The interactions of seafloor hydrothermal fluid with igneous rocks can result in leaching elements from the rocks,creating potential ore-forming fluids and influencing the chemical compositions of near-bottom seawater.The hydrothermal alteration of plagioclase microphenocrysts and basaltic glass in the pillow basalts from one dredge station(103°57.62′′W,12°50.55′N,water depth 2480 m)on the East Pacific Rise(EPR)near 13°N were analyzed using a scanning electron microscope(SEM)and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry(EDS).The results show that the edges of the plagioclase microphenocrysts and the basaltic glass fragments are altered but the pyroxene and olivine microphenocrysts in the interior of the pillow basalts appear to be unaffected by the hydrothermal fluids.In addition,our results show that the chemical alteration at the rims of the plagioclase microphenocrysts and the edges of basaltic glass fragments can be divided into separate types of alteration.The chemical difference in hydrothermal alteration of the plagioclase microphenocrysts and the basaltic glass indicate that different degrees of hydrothermal fluid-solid phase interaction have taken place at the surface of the pillow basalts.If the degree of hydrothermal fluid-solid phase interaction is relatively minor,Si,Al,Ca and Na diffuse from the inside of the solid phase out and as a result these elements have a tendency to accumulate in the edge of the plagioclase microphenocrysts or basaltic glass.If the degree of hydrothermal fluid-solid phase interaction is relatively strong,Si,Al,Ca and Na also diffuse from the inside of solid phase out but these elements will have a relatively low concentration in the edge of the plagioclase microphenocrysts or basaltic glass.Based on the chemical variation observed in the edges of plagioclase microphenocrysts and basaltic glass,we estimate that the content of Si,Al and Fe in the edges of plagioclase microphenocrysts can have a variation of 10.69%,17.59%and 109%,respectively.Similarly,the Si,Al and Fe concentrations in the edges of basaltic glass can have a variation of 9.79%,16.30%and 37.83%,respectively,during the interaction of hydrothermal fluids and seafloor pillow basalt.ZENG ZhiGang QI HaiYan CHEN Shuai YIN XueBo LI ZhaoXue 2014Science China Earth Sciences2014,57,7:5

20Association of gestational anemia with pregnancy conditions and outcomes: A nested case-control study显示文摘BACKGROUND Gestational anemia is a serious public health problem that affects pregnant women worldwide.Pregnancy conditions and outcomes might be associated with the presence of gestational anemia.This study investigated the association of pregnancy characteristics with anemia,exploring the potential etiology of the disease.AIM To assess the association of pregnancy parameters with gestational anemia.METHODS A nested case-control study was conducted based on the Chinese Pregnant Women Cohort Study-Peking Union Medical College Project(CPWCS-PUMC).A total of 3172 women were included.Patient characteristics and gestational anemia occurrence were extracted,and univariable and multivariable logistic regression models were used to analyze the association of pregnancy parameters with gestational anemia.RESULTS Among the 3172 women,14.0% were anemic,46.4% were 25-30 years of age,21.9%resided in eastern,15.7%in middle,12.4%in western 18.0% in southern and 32.0%in northern regions of China.Most women(65.0%)had a normal prepregnancy body mass index.Multivariable analysis found that the occurrence of gestational anemia was lower in the middle and western regions than that in the eastern region[odds ratio(OR)=0.406,95%confidence interval(CI):0.309-0.533,P<0.001],higher in the northern than in the southern region(OR=7.169,95% CI:5.139-10.003,P<0.001),lower in full-term than in premature births(OR=0.491,95% CI:0.316-0.763,P=0.002),and higher in cases with premature membrane rupture(OR=1.404,95% CI:1.051-1.876,P=0.02).CONCLUSION Gestational anemia continues to be a health problem in China,and geographical factors may contribute to the situation.Premature birth and premature membrane rupture may be associated with gestational anemia.Therefore,we should vigorously promote local policy reformation to adapt to the demographic characteristics of at-risk pregnant women,which would potentially reduce the occurrence of gestational anemia.Yin Sun Zhong-Zhou Shen Fei-Ling Huang Yu Jiang Ya-Wen Wang Su-Han Zhang Shuai Ma Jun-Tao Liu Yong-Le Zhan Hang Lin Yun-Li Chen Ying-Jie Shi Liang-Kun Ma 2021World Journal of Clinical Cases2021,9,27:5
