1On the origin and continuing evolution of SARS-CoV-2显示文摘The SARS-Co V-2 epidemic started in late December 2019 in Wuhan, China, and has since impacted a large portion of China and raised major global concern. Herein, we investigated the extent of molecular divergence between SARS-CoV-2 and other related coronaviruses. Although we found only 4% variability in genomic nucleotides between SARS-CoV-2 and a bat SARS-related coronavirus(SARSr-CoV;Ra TG13), the difference at neutral sites was 17%, suggesting the divergence between the two viruses is much larger than previously estimated. Our results suggest that the development of new variations in functional sites in the receptor-binding domain(RBD) of the spike seen in SARS-Co V-2 and viruses from pangolin SARSr-Co Vs are likely caused by natural selection besides recombination. Population genetic analyses of 103 SARS-CoV-2 genomes indicated that these viruses had two major lineages(designated L and S), that are well defined by two different SNPs that show nearly complete linkage across the viral strains sequenced to date. We found that L lineage was more prevalent than the S lineage within the limited patient samples we examined. 2Chinese herbal medicine reduces mortality in patients with severe and critical coronavirus disease 2019: a retrospective cohort study显示文摘This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of Chinese herbal medicine(CHM)in patients with severe/critical coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).In this retrospective study,data were collected from 662 patients with severe/critical COVID-19 who were admitted to a designated hospital to treat patients with severe COVID-19 in Wuhan before March 20,2020.All patients were divided into an exposed group(CHM users)and a control group(non-users).After propensity score matching in a 1:1 ratio,156 CHM users were matched by propensity score to 156 non-users.No significant differences in seven baseline clinical variables were found between the two groups of patients.All-cause mortality was reported in 13 CHM users who died and 36 non-users who died.After multivariate adjustment,the mortality risk of CHM users was reduced by 82.2%(odds ratio 0.178,95%CI 0.076–0.418;P<0.001)compared with the non-users.Secondly,age(odds ratio 1.053,95%CI 1.023–1.084;P<0.001)and the proportion of severe/critical patients(odds ratio 0.063,95%CI 0.028–0.143;P<0.001)were the risk factors of mortality.These results show that the use of CHM may reduce the mortality of patients with severe/critical COVID-19.Guohua Chen Wen Su Jiayao Yang Dan Luo Ping Xia Wen Jia Xiuyang Li Chuan Wang Suping Lang Qingbin Meng Ying Zhang Yuhe Ke An Fan Shuo Yang Yujiao Zheng Xuepeng Fan Jie Qiao Fengmei Lian Li Wei Xiaolin Tong 2020Frontiers of Medicine2020,14,6:10
3On-chip programmable pulse processor employing cascaded MZI-MRR structure显示文摘Optical pulse processor meets the urgent demand for high-speed,ultra wideband devices,which can avoid electrical confinements in various fields,e.g.,alloptical communication,optical computing technology,cohcrcnt control and microwave fields.To date,great efforts have been madc particularly in on-chip programmable pulse proccessing.Here,we experimentally demonstrate a programmable pulse proceesor employing 16cascaded Mach-Zehnder interferometer coupled microring resonator(MZI-MRR)structure based on silicon-oninsulator wafer.With micro-heaters loaded to the device,both amplitude and frequency tunings can be realized in each MZI-MRR unit.Thanks to its reconfigurability and integration ability,First,it can serve as a fractional differentiator whose tuning range is 0.51-2.23 with deviation no more than 7%.Second,the device can be tuned into a programmable optical filter whose bandwidth varies from 0.15to 0.97nm.The optical filter is also shape tunable.Especially,15-channel wavelength selective switches are generated.Yuhe ZHAO Xu WANG Dingshan GAO Jianji DONG Xinliang ZHANG 2019Frontiers of Optoelectronics2019,12,2:9
4Grinding Burn Detection Based on Cross Wavelet and Wavelet Coherence Analysis by Acoustic Emission Signal显示文摘Grinding burn monitoring is of great importance to guarantee the surface integrity of the workpiece. Existing methods monitor overall signal variation. However, the signals produced by metal burn are always weak. Therefore, the detection rate of grinding burn still needs to be improved. The paper presents a novel grinding burn detection method basing on acoustic emission(AE) signals. It is achieved by establishing the coherence relationship of pure metal burn and grinding burn signals. Firstly, laser and grinding experiments were carried out to produce pure metal burn signals and grinding burn signals. No-burn and burn surfaces were generated and AE signals were captured separately. Then, the cross wavelet transform(XWT) and wavelet coherence(WTC) were applied to reveal the coherence relationship of the pure metal burn signal and grinding burn signal. The methods can reduce unwanted AE sources and background noise. Novel parameters based on XWT and WTC are proposed to quantify the degree of coherence and monitor the grinding burn. 5Insight into Medicinal Chemistry Behind Traditional Chinese Medicines: p-Hydroxybenzyl Alcohol-Derived Dimers and Trimers from Gastrodia elata显示文摘From an aqueous extract of“tian ma”(the steamed and dried rhizomes of Gastrodia elata),ten new compounds gastrodiben-zins A−D(1−4)and gastrotribenzins A−F(5−10),along with known analogues(11−20),having structure features coupling between two and three p-hydroxybenzyl-derived units via carbon-and/or ether-bonds,were isolated and characterized by spectroscopic data analysis.Meanwhile,the new compounds 5a,6a,8a,22,and 23,as well as the known derivatives 13a,14a,15,17−21,24,25,and p-hydroxybenzyl aldehyde were isolated and identified from a refluxed aqueous solution of p-hydroxybenzyl alcohol.Methylation of 5a and 6a in methanol and ethylation of 6a,8a,13a,and 14a in ethanol produced 5 and 6 and 7,8,13,and 14,respectively.using ultra-performance liquid chromatography high-resolution electrospray ioniza-tion mass spectrometry(UPLC-HRESIMS)analysis of the refluxed solutions of p-hydroxybenzyl alcohol and the refluxed extracts of the fresh G.elata rhizome and“tian ma”extracts indicated consistent production and variation of the dimeric and trimeric derivatives of p-hydroxybenzyl alcohol upon extracting solvents and refluxing time.In various assays,the dimeric and trimeric derivatives showed more potent activities than p-hydroxybenzyl alcohol itself and gastrodin,which are the main known active constituents of“tian ma”.These results revealed for the first time that the more effective dimers and trimers can be produced through condensation of the co-occurring p-hydroxybenzyl alcohol during processing and decocting of the G.elata rhizomes,demonstrating insights into medicinal chemistry behind application protocols of traditional Chinese medicines.Yanan Wang Min Zhang Xue Zhou Chengbo Xu Chenggen Zhu Yuhe Yuan Naihong Chen Yongchun Yang Qinglan Guo Jiangong Shi 2021Natural Products and Bioprospecting2021,11,1:6

7Tunable optical delay line based on integrated grating-assisted contradirectional couplers显示文摘Tunable optical delay lines are one of the key building blocks in optical communication and microwave systems.In this work, tunable optical delay lines based on integrated grating-assisted contradirectional couplers are proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The device performance is comprehensively improved in terms of parameter optimization, apodization analysis, and electrode design. Tunable group delay lines of 50 ps at different wavelengths within the bandwidth of 12 nm are realized with a grating length of 1.8 mm. Under thermal tuning mode, the actual delay tuning range is around 20 ps at 7.2 V voltage. At last, a new scheme adopting an ultra-compact reflector for doubling group delay is proposed and verified, achieving a large group delay line of 400 ps and a large dispersion value up to 5.5 × 10~6 ps∕(nm · km) within bandwidth of 12 nm. 9Preparation of active carbons from corn stalk for butanol vapor adsorption显示文摘Active carbons(ACs) were prepared through chemical activation of biochar from whole corn stalk(WCS)and corn stalk pith(CSP) at varying temperatures using potassium hydroxide as the activating agent. ACs were characterized via pore structural analysis and scanning electron microscopy(SEM). These adsorbents were then assessed for their adsorption capacity for butanol vapor. It was found that WCS activated at900 °C for 1 h(WCS-900) had optimal butanol adsorption characteristics. The BET surface area and total pore volume of the WCS-900 were 2330 m2/g and 1.29 cm3/g, respectively. 12Highly efficient green InP-based quantum dot light-emitting diodes regulated by inner alloyed shell component显示文摘InP-based quantum dot light-emitting diodes(QLEDs),as less toxic than Cd-free and Pb-free optoelectronic devices,have become the most promising benign alternatives for the next generation lighting and display.However,the development of green-emitting InP-based QLEDs still remains a great challenge to the environmental preparation of InP quantum dots(QDs)and superior device performance.Herein,we reported the highly efficient green-emitting InP-based QLEDs regulated by the inner alloyed shell components.Based on the environmental phosphorus tris(dimethylamino)phosphine((DMA)3P),we obtained highly efficient InP-based QDs with the narrowest full width at half maximum(~35 nm)and highest quantum yield(~97%)by inserting the gradient inner shell layer ZnSe_(x)S_(1-x)without further post-treatment.More importantly,we concretely discussed the effect and physical mechanism of ZnSe_(x)S_(1-x)layer on the performance of QDs and QLEDs through the characterization of structure,luminescence,femtosecond transient absorption,and ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy.We demonstrated that the insert inner alloyed shell ZnSe_(x)S_(1-x)provided bifunctionality,which diminished the interface defects upon balancing the lattice mismatch and tailored the energy levels of InP-based QDs which could promote the balanced carrier injection.The resulting QLEDs applying the InP/ZnSe_(0.7)S_(0.3)/ZnS QDs as an emitter layer exhibited a maximum external quantum efficiency of 15.2%with the electroluminescence peak of 532 nm,which was almost the highest record of InP-based pure green-emitting QLEDs.These results demonstrated the applicability and processability of inner shell component engineering in the preparation of high-quallity InP-based QLEDs.Peng Yu Sheng Cao Yuliang Shan Yuhe Bi Yaqi Hu Ruosheng Zeng Bingsuo Zou Yunjun Wang Jialong Zhao 2022Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,7:1

15MG2C:a user-friendly online tool for drawing genetic maps显示文摘Genetic map is a linear arrangement of the relative positions of sites in the chromosome or genome based on the recombination frequency between genetic markers.It is the important basis for genetic analysis.Several kinds of software have been designed for genetic mapping,but all these tools require users to write or edit code,making it time-costing and difficult for researchers without programming skills to handle with.Here,MG2C,a new online tool was designed,based on PERL and SVG languages.Users can get a standard genetic map,only by providing the location of genes(or quantitative trait loci)and the length of the chromosome,without writing additional code.The operation interface of MG2C contains three sections:data input,data output and parameters.There are 33 attribute parameters in MG2C,which are further divided into 8 modules.Values of the parameters can be changed according to the users’requirements.The information submitted by users will be transformed into the genetic map in SVG file,which can be further modified by other image processing tools.MG2C is a user-friendly and time-saving online tool for drawing genetic maps,especially for those without programming skills.The tool has been running smoothly since 2015,and updated to version 2.1.It significantly lowers the technical barriers for the users,and provides great convenience for the researchers.Jiangtao Chao Zhiyuan Li Yuhe Sun Oluwaseun Olayemi Aluko Xinru Wu Qian Wang Guanshan Liu 2021Molecular Horticulture2021,1,1:1

19Changes in Several Physiological and Biochemical Indices of Maize Seedling Roots Caused by Drought Stress显示文摘The changes in several physiological and biochemical indices of seedling roots of new maize variety Qingnong 8 were studied under the simulated drought condition with 18% PEG-6000 and water shortage. The results showed that under drought conditions,the contents of soluble protein and malonialdehy( MDA) and the activities of superoxide dismutase( SOD) and peroxidase( POD) in roots of maize seedlings significantly increased,and the increasing amplitude reduced after water shortage for 96 h. The re-watering treatment results after 48 h water shortage showed that the SOD and POD activities and the MDA content could recover to normal level,and the soluble protein content was lower than normal content. 20A Novel Improved Bird Swarm Algorithm for Solving Bound Constrained Optimization Problems显示文摘Bird swarm algorithm(BSA), a novel bio-inspired algorithm, has good performance in solving numerical optimization problems. In this paper, a new improved bird swarm algorithm is conducted to solve unconstrained optimization problems. To enhance the performance of BSA, handling boundary constraints are applied to fix the candidate solutions that are out of boundary or on the boundary in iterations, which can boost the diversity of the swarm to avoid the premature problem. On the other hand, we accelerate the foraging behavior by adjusting the cognitive and social components the sin cosine coefficients.
