| 2 | Effects of Sini San used alone and in combination with fluoxetine on central and peripheral 5-HT levels in a rat model of depression显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of Sini San and fluoxetine on the levels of central and peripheral 5-HT in a rat model of depression, and provide new insight into the treatment of depression with integrated Chinese-Western Medicine.METHODS: A rat model of depression was established by chronic mild stress(CMS). Model rats received either Sini San, fluoxetine, a combination of the two drugs, or no drug treatment. Healthy naive rats were used as controls. Open field and sucrose preference tests were used to assess depression-like behavior. ELISA and immunohistochemistry were used to determine central and peripheral levels of 5-HT.RESULTS: In the group with no drug treatment,central 5-HT expression decreased while peripheral5-HT concentrations increased as CMS continued.Four weeks after CMS, Sini San alone was less effective in reducing depression-like behavior than fluoxetine alone or in combination with Sini San,but combined use was more effective than fluoxetine alone. Eight weeks after CMS, Sini San alone or in combination with fluoxetine was more effective in reducing depression-like behavior than fluoxetine alone. Furthermore Sini San and fluoxetine used alone or in combination notably increased central 5-HT expression and decreased peripheral 5-HT levels in the rat model.CONCLUSION:The results of the present study indicate that there is a synergistic action between the two medicines in the treatment of depression. Sini San exhibited a relatively long lag before its effects were observed; however, by eight weeks the Traditional Chinese Medicine appeared at least as effective as fluoxetine. | 4 | Solid Acid Used as Highly Efficient Catalyst for Esterification of Free Fatty Acids with Alcohols显示文摘Anovel solid acid catalyst, which was prepared from sodium alginate (SA) and metal chlorides and characterized with XRD and FT-IR spectrometry, was used for the preparation of biodiesel via esterification reaction. The study results showed that the aluminum-alginate complex prepared in a cheap and easy way exhibited high catalytic activity, and a 92.6% conversion of methyl oleate was obtained in the presence of 4m% of catalyst dosage upon refluxing for 3h of methanol and acid mixed in a molar ratio of 10:1. | 9 | Experimental and numerical study on hysteretic performance of SMA spring-friction bearings显示文摘This paper presents an experimental and numerical study to investigate the hysteretic performance of a new type of isolator consisting of shape memory alloy springs and friction bearing called an SMA spring-friction bearing(SFB). The SFB is a sliding-type isolator with SMA devices used for the seismic protection of engineering structures. The principle of operation of the isolation bearing is introduced. In order to explore the possibility of applying SMA elements in passive seismic control devices, large diameter superelastic tension/compression Ni Ti SMA helical springs used in the SFB isolator were developed. Mechanical experiments of the SMA helical spring were carried out to understand its superelastic characteristics. After that, a series of quasi-static tests on a single SFB isolator prototype were conducted to measure its force-displacement relationships for different loading conditions and study the corresponding variation law of its mechanical performance. The experimental results demonstrate that the SFB exhibits full hysteretic curves, excellent energy dissipation capacity, and moderate recentering ability. Finally, a theoretical model capable of emulating the hysteretic behavior of the SMA-based isolator was then established and implemented in MATLAB software. | 16 | Mahuang Xixin Fuzi decoction protects against ovalbumin-induced allergic rhinitis by inhibiting type 2 innate lymphoid cells in mice显示文摘Objective:As a traditional herbal formula,Mahuang Xixin Fuzi decoction(MXFD)has been used to treat allergic rhinitis(AR).It regulates the transcription factor GATA3 in T cells,blocks Th2 skewing and rebalances the Th1/Th2 immunity.Type 2 innate lymphoid cells(ILC2s)are closely associated with GATA3.However,it remains unknown whether ILC2s could be one mechanism through which MXFD acts.We sought to elucidate the efficacy and mechanism of action of this decoction in AR treatment.Methods:Forty C57BL/6J female mice were equally divided into control,model,loratadine-and MXFDtreated groups in random.AR was induced by ovalbumin(OVA),and then treatment with loratadine or MXFD was administered.AR scores were evaluated and compared before and after treatment.Pathological changes in the nasal mucosa and lung were observed using hematoxylin-eosin staining of tissue samples.Activation of ILC2 in nasal mucosa was assessed by immunofluorescence and quantitative polymerase chain reaction analysis.ILC2 cell count in lungs was measured by flow cytometry and levels of interleukin-(IL)4,IL-5 and IL-13 in serum were detected by ELISA.Results:The decoction alleviated the symptoms of AR in mice,improved vascular congestion and expansion,glandular hyperplasia and inflammatory cell infiltration in mouse nasal mucosa and slowly improved the interstitial pneumonia and lesions.Meanwhile,MXFD reduced the number and percentage of ILC2s in the nasal mucosa and lungs,downregulated the expression of GATA3 mRNA and RORa mRNA,and reduced the related inflammatory cytokine levels,including IL-4,IL-5 and IL-13.Conclusion:These data suggest that inhibition of ILC2s by MXFD may be an important means by which to treat AR. | Hong Ren Wenting Ji Xue Yu Dongyu Ge Ruijuan Dong Qingguo Wang Min Liu | 2019 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medical Sciences2019,6,4: | 0 |
