1Deep Learning and Its Applications in Biomedicine显示文摘Advances in biological and medical technologies have been providing us explosive volumes of biological and physiological data,such as medical images,electroencephalography,genomic and protein sequences.Learning from these data facilitates the understanding of human health and disease.Developed from arti?cial neural networks,deep learning-based algorithms show great promise in extracting features and learning patterns from complex data.The aim of this paper is to provide an overview of deep learning techniques and some of the state-of-the-art applications in the biomedical?eld.We?rst introduce the development of arti?cial neural network and deep learning.We then describe two main components of deep learning,i.e.,deep learning architectures and model optimization.Subsequently,some examples are demonstrated for deep learningapplications,including medical image classi?cation,genomic sequence analysis,as well as protein structure classi?cation and prediction.Finally,we offer our perspectives for the future directions in the?eld of deep learning.Chensi Cao Feng Liu Hai Tan Deshou Song Wenjie Shu Weizhong Li Yiming Zhou Xiaochen Bo Zhi Xie 2018Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics2018,16,1:22
2Recent Advances in Tumor Microenvironment Hydrogen Peroxide-Responsive Materials for Cancer Photodynamic Therapy显示文摘Photodynamic therapy(PDT),as one of the noninvasive clinical cancer phototherapies,suffers from the key drawback associated with hypoxia at the tumor microenvironment(TME),which plays an important role in protecting tumor cells from damage caused by common treatments.High concentration of hydrogen peroxide(H2O2),one of the hallmarks of TME,has been recognized as a double-edged sword,posing both challenges,and opportunities for cancer therapy.The promising perspectives,strategies,and approaches for enhanced tumor therapies,including PDT,have been developed based on the fast advances in H2O2-enabled theranostic nanomedicine.In this review,we outline the latest advances in H2O2-responsive materials,including organic and inorganic materials for enhanced PDT.Finally,the challenges and opportunities for further research on H2O2-responsive anticancer agents are envisioned.Nan Yang Wanyue Xiao Xuejiao Song Wenjun Wang Xiaochen Dong 2020Nano-Micro Letters2020,12,1:11
3Arc corrosion behavior of Cu-Ti_3AlC_2 composites in air atmosphere显示文摘The arc corrosion evolution of Cu-20 vol.% Ti_3 AlC_2 cathodes is presented here. After eroded by 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 kV DC voltage, respectively, the surface morphologies were characterized by field emission scanning electron microscope with craters and protrusions. Compared to small craters and dense protrusions of the morphology by high voltage, the eroded surface was covered with bigger craters and sparse protrusions at low voltage. No crack was discovered on the surface even at 10 kV. By means of energy dispersive spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy, the decomposition of Cu-20 vol.% Ti_3 AlC_2 cathode to CuO,Al__2 O_3 and TiO_2 were proved. Meanwhile, W anode is oxidized to WO_2. 4Inducible expression of Wnt7b promotes bone formation in aged mice and enhances fracture healing显示文摘There remain unmet clinical needs for safe and effective bone anabolic therapies to treat aging-related osteoporosis and to improve fracture healing in cases of nonunion or delayed union. Wnt signaling has emerged as a promising target pathway for developing novel bone anabolic drugs. Although neutralizing antibodies against the Wnt antagonist sclerostin have been tested,Wnt ligands themselves have not been fully explored as a potential therapy. Previous work has demonstrated Wnt7b as an endogenous ligand upregulated during osteoblast differentiation, and that Wnt7b overexpression potently stimulates bone accrual in the mouse. The earlier studies however did not address whether Wnt7b could promote bone formation when specifically applied to aged or fractured bones. Here we have developed a doxycycline-inducible strategy where Wnt7b is temporally induced in the bones of aged mice or during fracture healing. We report that forced expression of Wnt7b for 1 month starting at 15 months of age greatly stimulated trabecular and endosteal bone formation, resulting in a marked increase in bone mass. We further tested the effect of Wnt7b on bone healing in a murine closed femur fracture model. Induced expression of Wnt7b at the onset of fracture did not affect the initial cartilage formation but promoted mineralization of the subsequent bone callus. 6Fully Organic Self-Powered Electronic Skin with Multifunctional and Highly Robust Sensing Capability显示文摘Electronic skin(e-skin)with skin-like flexibility and tactile sensation will promote the great advancements in the fields of wearable equipment.Thus,the multifunction and high robustness are two important requirements for sensing capability of the e-skin.Here,a fully organic self-powered e-skin(FOSE-skin)based on the triboelectric nanogenerator(TENG)is developed.FOSE-skin based on TENG can be fully self-healed within 10 hours after being sheared by employing the self-healing polymer as a triboelectric layer and ionic liquid with the temperature sensitivity as an electrode.FOSE-skin based on TENG has the multifunctional and highly robust sensing capability and can sense the pressure and temperature simultaneously.The sensing capability of the FOSE-skin based on TENG can be highly robust with no changes after self-healing.FOSE-skin based on TENG can be employed to detect the arm swing,the temperature change of flowing water,and the motion trajectory.This work provides a new idea for solving the issues of monofunctional and low robust sensing capability for FOSE-skin based on TENG,which can further promote the application of wearable electronics in soft robotics and bionic prosthetics.Lijuan Song Zheng Zhang Xiaochen Xun Liangxu Xu Fangfang Gao Xuan Zhao Zhuo Kang Qingliang Liao Yue Zhang 2021Research2021,,1:2

14PIMD:An Integrative Approach for Drug Repositioning Using Multiple Characterization Fusion显示文摘The accumulation of various types of drug informatics data and computational approaches for drug repositioning can accelerate pharmaceutical research and development.However,the integration of multi-dimensional drug data for precision repositioning remains a pressing challenge.Here,we propose a systematic framework named PIMD to predict drug therapeutic properties by integrating multi-dimensional data for drug repositioning.In PIMD,drug similarity networks(DSNs)based on chemical,pharmacological,and clinical data are fused into an integrated DSN(iDSN)composed of many clusters.Rather than simple fusion,PIMD offers a systematic way to annotate clusters.Unexpected drugs within clusters and drug pairs with a high iDSN similarity score are therefore identified to predict novel therapeutic uses.PIMD provides new insights into the universality,individuality,and complementarity of different drug properties by evaluating the contribution of each property data.To test the performance of PIMD,we use chemical,pharmacological,and clinical properties to generate an iDSN.Analyses of the contributions of each drug property indicate that this iDSN was driven by all data types and performs better than other DSNs.Within the top 20 recommended drug pairs,7 drugs have been reported to be repurposed.The source code for PIMD is available at https://github.com/Sepstar/PIMD/.Song He Yuqi Wen Xiaoxi Yang Zhen Liu Xinyu Song Xin Huang Xiaochen Bo 2020Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics2020,18,5:1
15Discussion about Environmental Impact Assessment of Shale Gas Development显示文摘China is the third country to develop and utilize shale gas after the United States and Canada. However,shale gas development has significant environmental problems,such as huge consumption of both land and water resources,water pollution risk of hydraulic fracturing,leakage risk of shale gas and so on. At present,environmental impact assessment of shale gas development in China has been conducted based on the Technical Guideline for Environmental Impact Assessment——Constructional Project of Petroleum and Natural Gas Development on Land which lacks clear guidance on selection and quantitative analysis of pollution factors. 19Dynamics of a multiplex neural network with delayed couplings显示文摘Multiplex networks have drawn much attention since they have been observed in many systems,e.g.,brain,transport,and social relationships.In this paper,the nonlinear dynamics of a multiplex network with three neural groups and delayed interactions is studied.The stability and bifurcation of the network equilibrium are discussed,and interesting neural activities of the network are explored.Based on the neuron circuit,transfer function circuit,and time delay circuit,a circuit platform of the network is constructed.It is shown that delayed couplings play crucial roles in the network dynamics,e.g.,the enhancement and suppression of the stability,the patterns of the synchronization between networks,and the generation of complicated attractors and multi-stability coexistence.Xiaochen MAO Xingyong LI Weijie DING Song WANG Xiangyu ZHOU Lei QIAO 2021Applied Mathematics and Mechanics(English Edition)2021,42,3:1
20Burch colposuspension for stress urinary incontinence: a 14-year prospective follow-up显示文摘We aimed to evaluate the long-term effectiveness and safety of Burch colposuspension(BC) for stress urinary incontinence(SUI). In this prospective cohort study, 84 patients with SUI undergoing BC were enrolled from February 2004 to January 2010.Data on long-term subjective success and postoperative complications were collected at clinic visits and by telephone follow-up.During a mean follow-up period of 14.2 years, 68%(57/84) patients completed the follow-up. A total of 68.4% of patients(39/57) reported absence of SUI symptoms, 73.6%(42/57) were subjectively satisfied according to the Patient Global Impression of Improvement, and 68.4%(39/57) reported subjective success regarding urinary symptoms via the Urinary Distress Inventory Short Form. However, 28.1%(16/57) suffered at least one long-term postoperative complication and incident. Specifically, 1 in25(4.0%) sexually active patients reported dyspareunia, 3 patients(5.3%) had de novo overactive bladder, and 6 patients(10.5%)reported voiding dysfunction. Four patients(7.0%) reported new onset prolapse symptoms, and 3 patients(5.3%) underwent secondary urinary incontinence surgery. Our study indicated that Burch colposuspension is an effective procedure for SUI, and the cure effect was largely maintained for the 14-year follow-up period, with relatively low complication rates.
