1Effect of modified Taohongsiwu decoction on patients with chemotherapy-induced hand-foot syndrome显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To observe the effect of the Traditional Chinese Medicine,modified Taohongsiwu decoction,versus pyridoxine on patients with hand-foot syndrome(HFS)from capecitabine,sorafenib,and gefitinib chemotherapy for gastric,lung,breast,colon,or rectal cancer.Also,to compare quality of life of patients in each group.METHODS:Patients were assigned randomly to group A or B.Group A was given modifiedTaohongsiwu decoction to soak hands and feet for 30 min,once daily.Group B was given 100 mg pyridoxine orally,twice daily.After a 2-week treatment,thetherapeutic effect was assessed by observing three major symptoms,including pain,ulceration,and muscular atrophy.This was assessed with the HFS-14 questionnaire.RESULTS:Significant differences were observed between the two groups in pain relief,and improvement of daily life,walking,and interpersonal communication(P<0.01).No significant differences in driving ability or interpersonal relationships were found.After 2 weeks,the effective rate was 88.3%in group A,which was significantly higher than the50%in group B(P=0.00).CONCLUSION:Modified Taohongsiwu decoction is effective in the treatment of patients with HFS.It improves patients'quality of life according to the HFS-14.Changlin Zhao Jia Chen Bin Yu Xianlin Wu Congqi Dai Chang Zhou Xiaoyin Chen 2014Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2014,34,1:18
2A case study of spatial heterogeneity of soil moisture in the Loess Plateau,western China:A geostatistical approach显示文摘Soil moisture distribution shows highly variation both spatially and temporally. This study assesses the spatial heterogeneity of soil moisture on a hill-slope scale in the Loess Plateau in West China by using a geostatistical approach. Soil moisture was measured by time-domain reflectometry(TDR) in 313 samples. Two kinds of sampling scales were used(2 x 2 m and 20 x 20 m) at two soil layers(0-30 cm and 30-60 cm). The general characteristics of soil moisture were analyzed by a classical statistics method,and the spatial heterogeneity of soil moisture was analyzed using a geostatistical approach. The results showed that the spherical model is the best-fit model to simulate soil moisture on the experimental hill-slope. The parameters of this model indicated that the spatial dependence of soil moisture in the selected hill-slope was moderate. Even the 2 x 2 m sampling scale was too coarse to show the detailed spatial variances of soil moisture in this area. The dependent distance increased from 27.4 m to 494.16 m as the sampling scale became coarse(from 2 x 2 m to 20 x 20 m). A map of soil moisture was generated by using original soil moisture data and interpolated values determined by the Kriging method. The average soil moisture(area weighted) in the different layers of soil was calculated on the basis of this map(10.94% for the 0-30 cm soil layer,11.88% for the 30-60 cm soil layer). 4Cancer situation in China:what does the China cancer map indicate fromthe first national death survey to the latest cancer registration?显示文摘Background:Over the past four decades,the Chinese government has conducted three surveys on the distribution of causes of death and built cancer registration.In order to shine a new light on better cancer prevention strategies in China,we evaluated the profile of cancer mortality over the forty years and analyzed the policies that have been implemented.Methods:We described spatial and temporal changes in both cancer mortality and the ranking of major cancer types in China based on the data collected from three national surveys during 1973-1975,1990-1992,2004-2005,and the latest cancer registration data published by National Central Cancer Registry of China.The mortality data were compared after conversion to age-standardized mortality rates based on the world standard population(Segi’s population).The geographical distribution characteristics were explored by marking hot spots of different cancers on the map of China.Results:From 1973 to 2016,China witnessed an evident decrease in mortality rate of stomach,esophageal,and cervical cancer,while a gradual increase was recorded in lung,colorectal,and female breast cancer.A slight decrease of mortality rate has been observed in liver cancer since 2004.Lung and liver cancer,however,have become the top two leading causes of cancer death for the last twenty years.From the three national surveys,similar profiles of leading causes of cancer death were observed among both urban and rural areas.Lowermortality rates from esophageal and stomach cancer,however,have been demonstrated in urban than in rural areas.Rural areas had similar mortality rates of the five leading causes of cancer death with the small urban areas in 1973-1975.Additionally,rural areas in 2016 also had approximate mortality rates of the five leading causes with urban areas in 2004-2005.Moreover,stomach,esophageal,and liver cancer showed specific geographical distributions.Althoughmortality rates have decreased atmost of the hotspots of these cancers,they were still higher than the national average levels during the same time periods.Conclusions:Building up a strong primary public health system especially among rural areas may be one critical step to reduce cancer burden in China.Ruimei Feng Qingling Su Xiaoyin Huang Til Basnet Xin Xu Weimin Ye 2023Cancer Communications2023,43,1:10
5Spatial and temporal distribution of acetochlor in sediments and riparian soils of the Songhua River Basin in northeastern China显示文摘The Songhua River Basin is a burgeoning agricultural area in the modern times in China.Particularly in recent years,increasing chemical fertilizers and pesticides have been applied with the development of agricultural production.However,the situation of nonpoint source pollution (NSP) from agricultural production in this basin is still obscure.In order to solve the problem,the occurrence and distribution of acetochlor in sediments and riparian soils of the Songhua River Basin before rain season and after rain season were investigated.In addition,total organic carbon was analyzed.The result showed that the concentration of acetochlor ranged from 0.47 to 11.76 μg/kg in sediments and 0.03 to 709.37 μg/kg in riparian soils.During the high flow period in 2009,the mean concentration was 4.79 μg/kg in sediments and 0.75 μg/kg in riparian soils,respectively.Similarly,the mean concentration was 2.53 μg/kg in sediments and 61.36 μg/kg in riparian soils,during the average flow period in 2010.There was a significant correlation between the concentration of acetochlor and total organic carbon in surface sediments.Moreover,the distribution of acetochlor in sediments of the Songhua River was significantly correlated to land use and topography of the watershed.The investigated data suggested that the concentration of acetochlor in the Songnen Plain and the Sanjiang Plain was higher than that in the other areas of the basin,and riparian buffering zones in these areas had been destroyed by human activities.The optimal agricultural measures to alleviate the contamination of pesticides should be adopted,including controlling agricultural application of acetochlor and ecological restoration of riparian buffering strips.Xiaoyin Sun Qixing Zhou Wenjie Ren Xuhui Li Liping Ren 2011Journal of Environmental Sciences2011,23,10:9
6Simultaneous removal of selected oxidized contaminants in groundwater using a continuously stirred hydrogen-based membrane biofilm reactor显示文摘A laboratory trial was conducted for evaluating the capability of a continuously stirred hydrogen-based membrane biofilm reactor to simultaneously reduce nitrate (NO3--N), sulfate (SO42-), bromate (BrO3-), hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) and para- chloronitrobenzene (p-CNB). The reactor contained two bundles of hollow fiber membranes functioning as an autotrophic biofilm carrier and hydrogen pipe as well. On the condition that hydrogen was supplied as electron donor and diffused into water through membrane pores, autohydrogenotrophic bacteria were capable of reducing contaminants to forms with lower toxicity. Reduction occurred within 1 day and removal fluxes for NO3--N, SO4-2 , BrO3-, Cr(VI), and p-CNB reached 0.641, 2.396, 0.008, 0.016 and 0.031 g/(day·m-2 ), respectively after 112 days of continuous operation. Except for the fact that sulfate was 37% removed under high surface loading, the other four contaminants were reduced by over 95%. The removal flux comparison between phases varying in surface loading and H2 pressure showed that decreasing surface loading or increasing H2 pressure would promote removal flux. Competition for electrons occurred among the five contaminants. Electron-equivalent flux analysis showed that the amount of utilized hydrogen was mainly controlled by NO3 -N and SO4-2 reduction, which accounted for over 99% of the electron flux altogether. 8Clinical signification on the expressions of metallothionein in three types cancer of woman显示文摘Objective: To study the expressions and significations of metallothionein (MT) in cervical squamous cell cancer (CSC), bladder transitional cell cancer (BTC) and breast cancer (BC) of woman. Methods: Immunohistochemical method was used to examine the expresses rate of MT in three types of woman cancer tissue. Results: The expressions rates of MT were 54.35% (29/46) in BTC, 67.05% (59/88) in BC and 57.14% (40/70) in CSC. The positive rate of MT expression was higher in low differentiation group than well differentiation group in BTC and CSC (P < 0.05). Positive of MT in lobular cancer was significance higher than medullary and duct cancers (P < 0.05). 10A survey on bug-report analysis显示文摘Bug reports are essential software artifacts that describe software bugs, especially in open-source software. Lately, due to the availability of a large number of bug reports, a considerable amount of research has been carried out on bug-report analysis, such as automatically checking duplication of bug reports and localizing bugs based on bug reports. To review the work on bug-report analysis, this paper presents an exhaustive survey on the existing work on bug-report analysis. In particular, this paper first presents some background for bug reports and gives a small empirical study on the bug reports on Bugzilla to motivate the necessity for work on bug-report analysis. 11Enhanced struvite recovery from wastewater using a novel cone-inserted fluidized bed reactor显示文摘The feasibility of struvite recovery at low(12.5 mg/L) and high(120 mg/L) phosphorus concentrations was studied by constructing a novel fluidized bed reactor with cones(FBRwc) and without cones(FBRwoc). The crystallization process was continuously operated for 133 days under different hydraulic retention times(HRT = 1–10 hr), pH(7.5–10), and molar ratios of Mg/P(0.75–1.75), N/P(1–10) and Ca/Mg(0–2). The optimum operating conditions of HRT, pH, Mg/P and N/P molar ratios were found to be 2 hr, 9, 1.25, and 7.5, respectively. Under these optimum conditions, the phosphorus precipitation efficiencies of FBRwcwere 93% for low and 98% for high phosphorus influent; however, the efficiencies were 78% and 81% for FBRwoc, respectively. Due to crystal losses at each junction(17%–31%), the crystal recovery efficiency of FBRwocwas relatively low(47%–65%) for both influent concentrations. However, the losses were minimal in FBRwc, which showed 75% and 92% crystal recovery for low and high phosphorus concentrations, respectively. At low calcium concentration, crystal chemical analysis showed the product to be pure struvite(> 99%). The scanning electron microscope and X-ray diffraction results further confirmed that the crystal recovered from FBRwc contained pure struvite, which could be considered a high quality fertilizer. Except HRT, all parameters(pH, Mg/P, N/P and Ca/Mg) were found to be influencing factors for FBRwcperformance. 13Helicobacter pylori may participate in the development of inflammatory bowel disease by modulating the intestinal microbiota显示文摘Inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)is a non-specific inflammatory disease of the gastrointestinal(GI)tract that is generally accepted to be closely related to intestinal dysbiosis in the host.GI infections contribute a key role in the pathogenesis of IBD;however,although the results of recent clinical studies have revealed an inverse correlation between Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori)infection and IBD,the exact mechanism underlying the development of IBD remains unclear.H.pylori,as a star microorganism,has been a focus for decades,and recent preclinical and real-world studies have demonstrated that H.pylori not only affects the changes in the gastric microbiota and microenvironment but also influences the intestinal microbiota,indicating a potential correlation with IBD.Detailed analysis revealed that H.pylori infection increased the diversity of the intestinal microbiota,reduced the abundance of Bacteroidetes,augmented the abundance of Firmicutes,and produced short-chain fatty acid-producing bacteria such as Akkermansia.All these factors may decrease vulnerability to IBD.Further studies investigating the H.pylori-intestinal microbiota metabolite axis should be performed to understand the mechanism underlying the development of IBD.Xiaoyin Bai Lingjuan Jiang Gechong Ruan Tingting Liu Hong Yang 2022Chinese Medical Journal2022,,6:5
14Isolation and identification of genes expressed differentially in rice inflorescence meristem with suppression subtractive hybridization显示文摘A subtracted cDNA library of rice (Oryza sativa L.) inflorescence meristem (IM) was constructed using the suppression subtractive hybridization (SSH) method. The cDNAs of the rice shoot apical meristem (SAM) were used as 'driver' and inflorescence meristem (IM) as 'tester' in the experiment, respectively. Forty of 250 randomly chosen cDNA clones were identified by differential screening, which were IM-specific or IM-highly expressed. Most of the rice IM cDNAs cloned by SSH appear to represent rare transcripts, 40% of which were derived from truly differentially expressed genes. 15Spatial-temporal Variation of Extreme Precipitation Events in Northwest China During 1961-2010显示文摘Using the daily precipitation data of 118 meteorological stations in Northwest China from January 1,1961 to December 31,2010,we analyzed extreme precipitation events from prime precipitation data by applying R-language Climate Index( RClimDex).The spatial-temporal change characteristics in the past 50 years have been examined using the method of trend analysis,Mann-Kendall and the spatial analysis module of Arcgis9.2.The results show that the spatial distribution of the indices for extreme precipitation in Northwest China is greatly influenced by geographic location,atmospheric circulation and topography,and the spatial difference of extreme precipitation events is very evident,while the indices reduce from the southeast to the northwest except Consecutive Dry Days( CDD).In Xinjiang region,high values appear in Tianshan Mountains and decrease towards the south and north respectively.In the past 50 years,the temporal variation tendency of the indices for extreme precipitation in Northwest China has a great spatial distinction.It shows that the variation tendency is opposite between the east( decrease) and the west( increase),and CDD has a decreasing tendency while other indices increase.For each region,it is found that the indices for extreme precipitation in Xinjiang and Qinghai Province shows an increasing trend,and it is remarkable in Tianshan Mountains,the north of Xinjiang and the northeast of Qinghai Province.The temporal variation tendency of the indices for extreme precipitation in Ningxia,Shaanxi and Gansu has a large spatial distinction.The stations which have an increasing tend are mainly found in the north of Ningxia,south of Shaanxi and Hexi Corridor of Gansu.However,the south of Ningxia,north of Shaanxi and Longnan of Gansu Province mainly present a decreasing trend.The temporal variation tendency of the indices for extreme precipitation in Inner Mongolia is not obvious.Overall,the east part of Northwest China has a dry tendency,while the west part has an opposite trend.Lian Lishu Xu Shujing Li Zhifu Sun Xiaoyin 2014Meteorological and Environmental Research2014,5,1:5
16Arsenic removal from groundwater by acclimated sludge under autohydrogenotrophic conditions显示文摘Arsenic in the environment is attracting increasing attention due to its chronic health effects. Although arsenite(As(III)) is generally more mobile and more toxic than arsenate(As(V)), reducing As(V) to As(III) may still be a means for decontamination, because As(III) can be removed from solution by precipitation with sulfide or by adsorption or complexation with other metal sulfides. The performance of As(V) bio-reduction under autohydrogenotrophic conditions was investigated with batch experiments. The results showed that As(V) reduction was a biochemical process while both acclimated sludge and hydrogen were essential. Most of the reduced arsenic remained in a soluble form, although 20% was removed with no addition of sulfate, while 82% was removed when sulfate was reduced to sulfide. The results demonstrated that the reduced arsenic was re-sequestered in the precipitates, probably as arsenic sulfides. Kinetic analysis showed that pseudo first-order kinetics described the bio-reduction process better than pseudo second-order. In particular, the influences of pH and temperature on As(V) reduction by acclimated sludge under autohydrogenotrophic conditions and total soluble As removal were examined. The reduction process was highly sensitive to both pH and temperature, with the optimum ranges of pH 6.5–7.0 and 30–40°C respectively. Furthermore, Arrhenius modeling results for the temperature effect indicated that the As(V) reduction trend was systematic. 17Mechanism and effect of Shijueming (Concha Haliotidis) on serum calcium in spontaneously hypertensive rats显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To observe the impact of Shijueming (Concha Haliotidis) on spontaneously hypertensive rats via blood pressure, serum calcium, vascular smooth muscle membrane L-type calcium channel α1 C subunit (CaL-α1C), plasma membrane calcium-ATPase (PMCA) mRNA expression, and the L-type calcium channel in vascular smooth muscle cells. METHODS:Twelve-week-old male rats with spontaneous hypertension were divided into three groups: a Shijueming (Concha Haliotidis) group (group 1), a nifedipine group (group 2), and a distilled water group (group 3). All were given a four-week treatment. Blood pressure and dissociative serum calcium were examined before treatment. Blood pressure was taken every week during treatment. Atomic absorption spectrometry was used to examine dissociative serum calcium. Re-verse transcription-polymerase chain reaction was used to examine the expression of CaL-α1C and PM-CA1 mRNA. The patch clamp technique was used to examine the electrophysiological characteristics of the vascular smooth muscle cell calcium channels. RESULTS: After treatment, blood pressure of the Shijueming (Concha Haliotidis) group lowered but not significantly (P>0.05). Blood pressure of the nifedipine group lowered significantly (P<0.05). Blood pressure of the distilled water group remained high. The concentration of serum calcium in the Shijueming (Concha Haliotidis) and the distilled water groups lowered (P<0.05). Expression of CaL-α1C mRNA in the nifedipine group decreased compared with the distilled water group (P<0.01). There was the decreasing trend in the Shijueming (Concha Haliotidis) group, but it was not statistically significant. Shijueming (Concha Haliotidis) also had effects on the expression of PMCA1 mRNA but with- out statistical significance. However, there was a significant decreasing effect on vascular smooth muscle cell I Ca-L flow. CONCLUSION: This study indicated that Shijueming (Concha Haliotidis) could increase serum calcium and decrease blood pressure. 18Bioreduction of vanadium(V) in groundwater by autohydrogentrophic bacteria:Mechanisms and microorganisms显示文摘As one of the transition metals, vanadium(V)(V(V)) in trace amounts represents an essential element for normal cell growth, but becomes toxic when its concentration is above 1 mg/L. V(V) can alter cellular differentiation, gene expression, and other biochemical and metabolic phenomena. A feasible method to detoxify V(V) is to reduce it to V(IV), which precipitates and can be readily removed from the water. The bioreduction of V(V) in a contaminated groundwater was investigated using autohydrogentrophic bacteria and hydrogen gas as the electron donor. Compared with the previous organic donors,H2 shows the advantages as an ideal electron donor, including nontoxicity and less production of excess biomass. V(V) was 95.5% removed by biochemical reduction when autohydrogentrophic bacteria and hydrogen were both present, and the reduced V(IV)precipitated, leading to total-V removal. Reduction kinetics could be described by a first-order model and were sensitive to p H and temperature, with the optimum ranges of p H 7.5–8.0 and 35–40°C, respectively. Phylogenetic analysis by clone library showed that the dominant species in the experiments with V(V) bioreduction belonged to theβ-Proteobacteria. Previously known V(V)-reducing species were absent, suggesting that V(V)reduction was carried out by novel species.
