| 1 | Ultrafast epitaxial growth of metre-sized single-crystal graphene on industrial Cu foil显示文摘A foundation of the modern technology that uses single-crystal silicon has been the growth of highquality single-crystal Si ingots with diameters up to 12 inches or larger. For many applications of graphene, large-area high-quality(ideally of single-crystal) material will be enabling. Since the first growth on copper foil a decade ago, inch-sized single-crystal graphene has been achieved. We present here the growth, in 20 min, of a graphene film of(5 ×50) cm^2 dimension with >99% ultra-highly oriented grains.This growth was achieved by:(1) synthesis of metre-sized single-crystal Cu(1 1 1) foil as substrate;(2)epitaxial growth of graphene islands on the Cu(1 1 1) surface;(3) seamless merging of such graphene islands into a graphene film with high single crystallinity and(4) the ultrafast growth of graphene film.These achievements were realized by a temperature-gradient-driven annealing technique to produce single-crystal Cu(1 1 1) from industrial polycrystalline Cu foil and the marvellous effects of a continuous oxygen supply from an adjacent oxide. The as-synthesized graphene film, with very few misoriented grains(if any), has a mobility up to ~23,000 cm^2 V^(-1)s^(-1)at 4 K and room temperature sheet resistance of ~230 Ω/□. | 2 | Seasonal variation of potential denitrification rates of surface sediment from Meiliang Bay, Taihu Lake, China显示文摘The regulatory effects of environmental factors on denitrification were studied in the sediments of Meiliang Bay, Taihu Lake, in a monthly sampling campaign over a one-year period. Denitrification rates were measured in slurries of field samples and enrichment experiments using the acetylene inhibition technique. Sediment denitrification rates in inner bay and outer bay ranged from 2.8 to 51.5 nmol N2/(g dw (dry weight)·hr) and from 1.5 to 81.1 nmol N2/(g dw·hr), respectively. Sediment denitrification rates were greatest in the spring and lowest in the summer and early autumn, due primarily to seasonal differences in nitrate concentration and water temperature. For each site, positive and linear relationships were regularly observed between denitrification rate and water columnn itrate concentration. Of various environmental factors on denitrification that we assessed, nitrate was determined to be the key factor limiting denitrification rates in the sediments of Meiliang Bay. In addition, at the two sites denitrification rates were also regulated by temperature. The addition of organic substrates had no significant effect on denitrification rate, indicating that sediment denitrification was not limited by organic carbon availability in the sediments. | 5 | Impact of different benthic animals on phosphorus dynamics across the sediment-water interface显示文摘As a diagenetic progress, bioturbation influences solute exchange across the sediment-water interface (SWI). Different benthic animals have various mechanical activities in sediment, thereby they may have different effects on solute exchange across the SWI. This laboratory study examined the impacts of different benthic animals on phosphorus dynamics across the SWI. Tubificid worms and Chironomidae larvae were introduced as model organisms which, based on their mechanical activities, belong to upward-conveyors and gallery-diffusers, respectively. The microcosm simulation study was carried out with a continuous flow culture system, and all sediment, water, and worms and larvae specimens were sampled from Taihu Lake, China. To compare their bioturbation effects, the same biomass (17.1 g wet weight (ww)/m 2 ) was adopted for worms and larvae. Worms altered no oxygen penetration depth in sediment, while larvae increased the O 2 penetration depth, compared to the control treatment. Their emergence also enhanced sediment O 2 uptake. The oxidation of ferrous iron in pore water produced ferric iron oxyhydroxides that adsorbed soluble reactive phosphorus (SRP) from the overlying water and pore water. Larvae built obviously oxidized tubes with about 2 mm diameter and the maximum length of 6 cm in sediment, and significantly decreased ferrous iron and SRP in the pore water compared to the control and worms treatments. Worms constructed no visually-oxidized galleries in the sediment in contrast to larvae, and they did not significantly alter SRP in the pore water relative to the control treatment. The adsorption of ferric iron oxyhydroxides to SRP caused by worms and larvae inhibited SRP release from sediment. | 13 | Combined effect of pre-aging and Ag/Cu addition on the natural aging and bake hardening in Al-Mg-Si alloys显示文摘The combined effect of pre-aging and Ag/Cu addition on natural aging and bake hardening in Al-Mg-Si alloys were studied by Vickers microhardness measurement, tensile test, atom probe tomography and transmission electron microscopy. The results showed that Ag and/or Cu addition could further enhance the positive effect of pre-aging on bake hardening for Al-Mg-Si alloys. Although the pre-aged alloys with individual Ag/Cu addition had higher paint bake hardness, the hardness in T4 P temper was relatively high due to effectively forming of Cluster(2) during pre-aging. While the pre-aged Ag-Cu-added alloy had low T4 P temper hardness and higher bake hardening response. The strong interaction energies between Ag/Cu atoms and Mg atoms were responsible for the facilitated clustering and precipitation processes. | 14 | Development of a 3D modeling algorithm for tunnel deformation monitoring based on terrestrial laser scanning显示文摘Deformation monitoring is vital for tunnel engineering.Traditional monitoring techniques measure only a few data points,which is insufficient to understand the deformation of the entire tunnel.Terrestrial Laser Scanning(TLS)is a newly developed technique that can collect thousands of data points in a few minutes,with promising applications to tunnel deformation monitoring.The raw point cloud collected from TLS cannot display tunnel deformation;therefore,a new 3D modeling algorithm was developed for this purpose.The 3D modeling algorithm includes modules for preprocessing the point cloud,extracting the tunnel axis,performing coordinate transformations,performing noise reduction and generating the 3D model.Measurement results from TLS were compared to the results of total station and numerical simulation,confirming the reliability of TLS for tunnel deformation monitoring.Finally,a case study of the Shanghai West Changjiang Road tunnel is introduced,where TLS was applied to measure shield tunnel deformation over multiple sections.Settlement,segment dislocation and cross section convergence were measured and visualized using the proposed 3D modeling algorithm. | Xiongyao Xie Xiaozhi Lu | 2017 | Underground Space2017,2,1: | 4 |
| 15 | Scalable and ultrafast epitaxial growth of single-crystal graphene wafers for electrically tunable liquid-crystal microlens arrays显示文摘The scalable growth of wafer-sized single-crystal graphene in an energy-efficient manner and compatible with wafer process is critical for the killer applications of graphene in high-performance electronics and optoelectronics. Here, ultrafast epitaxial growth of single-crystal graphene wafers is realized on singlecrystal Cu90Ni10(1 1 1) thin films fabricated by a tailored two-step magnetron sputtering and recrystallization process. The minor nickel(Ni) content greatly enhances the catalytic activity of Cu, rendering the growth of a 4 in. single-crystal monolayer graphene wafer in 10 min on Cu90Ni10(1 1 1), 50 folds faster than graphene growth on Cu(1 1 1). Through the carbon isotope labeling experiments, graphene growth on Cu90Ni10(1 1 1) is proved to be exclusively surface-reaction dominated, which is ascribed to the Cu surface enrichment in the Cu Ni alloy, as indicated by element in-depth profile. One of the best benefits of our protocol is the compatibility with wafer process and excellent scalability. A pilot-scale chemical vapor deposition(CVD) system is designed and built for the mass production of single-crystal graphene wafers, with productivity of 25 pieces in one process cycle. Furthermore, we demonstrate the application of single-crystal graphene in electrically controlled liquid-crystal microlens arrays(LCMLA), which exhibit highly tunable focal lengths near 2 mm under small driving voltages. By integration of the graphene based LCMLA and a CMOS sensor, a prototype camera is proposed that is available for simultaneous light-field and light intensity imaging. | 17 | New advances in the assessment of tight oil resource in China显示文摘The research on tight oil becomes another hotspot in the field of unconventional oil and gas after the boom of shale gas.The global recoverable resources of tight oil are estimated to be around 47.3×10^(9)t.In recent years,significant progress has been made in the technologies of tight oil exploration and development in North America,thus stimulating the dramatic increase of tight oil production.Meanwhile,China has also acquired remarkable achievements in tight oil exploration.Mature assessment methods have been established for tight oil resources by the US,generally dominated by analogy and statistical methods with their own advantages and disadvantages as well as applicable conditions.In China,improvement of resource evaluation techniques becomes an urgent issue in increasing tight oil reserve and production.This study mainly discusses the resource evaluation methods and resource enrichment characteristics of tight oil.Seven kinds of assessment methods in three categories(i.e.,analogy,statistical and genetic method)and evaluation parameters have been preliminary established,and are specifically applied in the Sichuan,Ordos,Songliao,Junggar,Bohai Bay and other tight oil basins through the newly hierarchical resource abundance analogy method,the estimated ultimate recovery(EUR)analogy method and the small-cell volumetric method.The preliminary evaluation results reveal that China has great potential in tight oil resource,and the geological resources amount to 20×10^(9)t,providing a resource base for large-scale development. | Shejiao Wang Yuanjiang Yu Qiulin Guo Shaoyong Wang Xiaozhi Wu | 2017 | Petroleum Research2017,2,1: | 4 |
| 18 | High-P/T experimental studies and water in the silicate mantle显示文摘Water(or H) in the silicate mantle is a key element in influencing Earth's climate, habitability, geochemical evolution, geophysical properties and geodynamical processes, and has received increasing attention in the past decades. Experimental work under simulated high-pressure and high-temperature conditions is a powerful tool in characterizing the species, distribution, storage capacity and various physicochemical impacts of water in the mantle. In recent years, significant approaches have been acquired about some key physical, chemical and dynamical properties of water in the mantle and their various impacts, as a result of extensive studies by high-pressure and temperature experiments, and our knowledge of Earth's water cycle, especially the deep water cycle, on both temporal and spatial scales has been greatly enhanced. | 19 | Porous Pt nanoframes decorated with Bi(OH)3 as highly efficient and stable electrocatalyst for ethanol oxidation reaction显示文摘High-quality Pt-based catalysts are highly desirable for ethanol oxidation reaction(EOR),which is of critical importance for the commercial applications of direct ethanol fuel cells(DEFCs).However,most of the Pt-based catalysts have suffered from high cost and low operation durability.Herein a two-step method has been developed to synthesize porous Pt nanoframes decorated with Bi(OH)3,which show excellent catalytic activity and operation durability in both alkaline and acidic media.For example,the nanoframes show a mass activity of 6.87 A·mgPt−1 in alkaline media,which is 13.5-fold higher than that of commercial Pt/C.More importantly,the catalyst can be reactivated simply,which shows negligible activity loss after running for 180,000 s.Further in situ attenuated total reflection-infrared(ATR-IR)absorption spectroscopy and CO-stripping experiments indicate that surface Bi(OH)3 species can greatly facilitate the formation of adsorbed OH species and subsequently remove carbonaceous poison,resulting in a significantly enhanced stability towards EOR.This work may favor the tailoring of desired electrocatalysts with high activity and durability for future commercial application of DEFCs. | Xiaolei Yuan Bei Jiang Muhan Cao Congyang Zhang Xiaozhi Liu Qinghua Zhang Fenglei Lyu Lin Gu Qiao Zhang | 2020 | Nano Research2020,13,1: | 3 |
