| 1 | Monitoring of frozen soil hydrology in macro-scale in the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau显示文摘Monitoring of frozen soil hydrology in macro-scale was performed by Chinese and Japanese scientists from 1997 to 1998. Quality measured data were obtained. Measured data on soil moisture and temperature are preliminarily analyzed. Based on profiles of soil temperature and moisture in individual measured sites, intra-annual freezing and melting process of soil is discussed. Maximum frozen and thawed depths and frozen days in various depths are estimated. | 2 | Study on Biogenic Amines in Various Dry Salted Fish Consumed in China显示文摘This study was carried out to investigate the biogenic amines(BAs), physicochemical property and microorganisms in dry salted fish, a traditional aquatic food consumed in China. Forty three samples of dry salted fish were gathered from retail and wholesale markets and manufacturers, which had been produced in various regions in China. Cadaverine(CAD) and putrescine(PUT) were quantitatively the most common biogenic amines. About 14% of the samples exceeded the histamine content standards established by the FDA and/or EU. The highest histamine content was found in Silver pomfret(Pampus argenteus)(347.79 mg kg^(-1)). Five of forty three samples exceeded the acceptable content of TYR(100 mg kg^(-1)), and 23.26% of dried-salted fish contained high contents of biogenic amines(above 600 mg kg^(-1)). In addition, species, regions, pickling processes and drying methods made the physicochemical property, microorganisms and biogenic amines in dry salted fish to be different to some extents. The total plate count(TPC) was much higher than that of total halophilic bacteria in all samples. The biogenic amines, physicochemical property and microbiological counts exhibited large variations among samples. Furthermore, no significant correlation between biogenic amines and physicochemical property and TPC was observed. | 3 | Evolution of permafrost in China during the last 20 ka显示文摘The formation and evolution of permafrost in China during the last 20 ka were reconstructed on the basis of large amount of paleo-permafrost remains and paleo-periglacial evidence, as well as paleo-glacial landforms, paleo-flora and paleofauna records. The results indicate that, during the local Last Glacial Maximum(LLGM) or local Last Permafrost Maximum(LLPMax), the extent of permafrost of China reached 5.3×106-5.4×106 km2, or thrice that of today, but permafrost shrank to only0.80×106-0.85×106 km2, or 50% that of present, during the local Holocene Megathermal Period(LHMP), or the local Last Permafrost Minimum(LLPMin). On the basis of the dating of periglacial remains and their distributive features, the extent of permafrost in China was delineated for the two periods of LLGM(LLPMax) and LHMP(LLPMin), and the evolution of permafrost in China was divided into seven periods as follows:(1) LLGM in Late Pleistocene(ca. 20000 to 13000-10800 a BP)with extensive evidence for the presence of intensive ice-wedge expansion for outlining its LLPMax extent;(2) A period of dramatically changing climate during the early Holocene(10800 to 8500-7000 a BP) when permafrost remained relatively stable but with a general trend of shrinking areal extent;(3) The LHMP in the Mid-Holocene(8500-7000 to 4000-3000 a BP)when permafrost degraded intensively and extensively, and shrank to the LLPMin;(4) Neoglaciation during the late Holocene(4000-3000 to 1000 a BP, when permafrost again expanded;(5) Medieval Warming Period(MWP) in the late Holocene(1000-500 a BP) when permafrost was in a relative decline;(6) Little Ice Age(LIA) in the late Holocene(500-100 a BP), when permafrost relatively expanded, and;(7) Recent warming(during the 20 th century), when permafrost continuously degraded and still is degrading. | 4 | Treatment of PC-3 cells with ultrasound combined with microbubbles induces distinct alterations in the expression of Bcl-2 and Bax显示文摘The objective of the present study was to investigate whether ultrasound combined with microbubbles induces apoptotic cell death in androgen-independent prostate cancer cells and to identify the probable mechanism.We used ultrasound in continuous wave mode with a frequency of 21 kHz and a spatial-average temporal-average intensity of 46 mW/cm2.Ultrasound combined with microbubbles(200μL SonoVue)was used to treat androgen-independent human prostate cancer PC-3 cells for 30 s.PC-3 cells were divided into three groups:the control group,the ultrasound group and the ultrasound combined with microbubbles group.Immediately after treatment,trypan blue exclusion was used to assess cell viability.Cell apoptosis at 24 h after treatment was measured using transmission electron microscopy and flow cytometry.Western blotting was used to evaluate the expression of the apoptosis-related proteins,Bcl-2 and Bax.Ultrasound combined with microbubbles had a minimal effect on the viability of PC-3cells and induced minimal levels of cell lysis.The level of apoptosis in PC-3 cells induced by this modality was significantly higher than in controls(12.77±0.31%vs.2.56±0.22%,P<0.01).Treatment with ultrasound combined with microbubbles increased the expression of Bax,a pro-apoptotic protein,and decreased the expression of Bcl-2,an anti-apoptotic protein.It was concluded that ultrasound combined with microbubbles induces apoptotic cell death in human prostate cancer PC-3 cells through down-regulation of Bcl-2 and up-regulation of Bax. | BAI WenKun YANG ShaoLing SHEN E ZHANG JiZhen SHEN ZhiYong HU Bing | 2013 | Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,28: | 2 |

| 10 | Risk factors for chronic ankle instability after first episode of lateral ankle sprain:A retrospective analysis of 362 cases显示文摘Background:Chronic ankle instability(CAI) is a common sequela following an acute lateral ankle sprain(LAS).To treat an acture LAS more effectively and efficiently,it is important to identify patients at substantial risk for developing CAI.This study identifies magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) manifestations for predicting CAI development after a first episode of LAS and explores appropriate clinical indications for ordering MRI scans for these patients.Methods:All patients with a first-episode LAS who received plain radiograph and MRI scanning within the first 2 weeks after LAS from December 1,2017 to December 1,2019 were identified.Data were collected using the Cumberland Ankle Instability Tool at final follow-up.Demographic and other related clinical variables,including age,sex,body mass index,and treatment were also recorded.Univariable and multivariable analyses were performed successively to identify risk factors for CAI after first-episode LAS.Results:A total 131 out of 362 patients with a mean follow-up of 3.0± 0.6 years(mean ± SD;2.0—4.1 years) developed CAI after first-episode LAS.According to multivariable regression,development of CAI after first-episode LAS was associated with 5 prognostic factors:age(odds ratio(OR)=0.96,95% confidence interval(95%CI):0.93-1.00,p=0.032);body mass index(OR=1.09,95%CI:1.02-1.17,p=0.009);posterior talofibular ligament injury(OR=2.17,95%CI:1.05-4.48,p=0.035);large bone marrow lesion of the talus(OR=2.69,95%CI:1.30-5.58,p=0.008),and Grade 2 effusion of the tibiotalar joint(OR=2.61,95%CI:1.39-4.89,p=0.003).When patients had at least 1 positive clinical finding in the 10-m walk test,anterior drawer test,or inversion tilt test,they had a 90.2% sensitivity and 77.4% specificity in terms of detecting at least 1 prognostic factor by MRI.Conclusion:MRI scanning is valuable in predicting CAI after first-episode LAS for those patients with at least 1 positive clinical finding in the10-m walk test,anterior drawer test,and inversion tilt test.Further prospective and large-scale studies are necessary for validation. | Jieyuan Zhang Kai Yang Cheng Wang Wenqi Gu Xueqian Li Shaoling Fu Guoxun Song Jiazheng Wang Chenglin Wu Hongyi Zhu Zhongmin Shi | 2023 | Journal of Sport and Health Science2023,12,5: | 1 |

| 12 | An innovative three-layer strategy in response to a quartan malaria outbreak among forest goers in Hainan Island,China:a retrospective study显示文摘Background:An outbreak of Plasmodium malariae infection among forest goers in Sanya City of Hainan Island,China was reported in 2015.In response to this outbreak,an innovative three-layer strategy(TLS)targeted forest goers was adapted based on the 1-3-7 approach.Main text:Key elements of TLS are:(i)The village with fve malaria cases and adjacent villages were set as the frst layer.All residents including forest goers were taken as the high-risk population(HRP).Active case detection(ACD)by blood smear microscopy and PCR was selected as the primary measure,and passive case detection(PCD)as complementary measure.One case was identifed under TLS implementation.(ii)The township with cases(Gaofeng Town)and the nearby towns were chosen as the second layer.Only forest goers were screened by ACD,while PCD as a routine screening method.7831 blood smears collected by ACD and PCD and tested with negative results.(iii)The city with cases(Sanya City)and others 12 counties/county-level cities were selected as the third layer.Malaria cases were monitored passively.A total of 77,555 blood slides were screened by PCD with zero positive sample.For each layer,the malaria vector mosquitoes were monitored using light traps,cattle-baited/human-bait traps.Anopheles minimus(dominant species),An.sinensis and An.dirus were captured.Vector control measures mainly include insecticide residual spraying and long-lasting insecticide nets.The capacity of clinicians,public health practitioners and laboratory technicians has been improved through training.During 2016‒2018,TLS and chemoprophylaxis were implemented in the same areas.In the frst layer,all residents were monitored by ACD,and malaria chemoprophylaxis were distributed,89.5%of forest goers were using chemoprophylaxis against malaria.The blood smears(3126 by ACD plus 1516 by PCD)were with zero positive results.Chemoprophylaxis and ACD were ofered to forest goers once a year,and PCD in residents as a complementary measure in the second and third layer,77.8%and 95.1%of forest goers received chemoprophylaxis.In each layer,vector surveillance and control of malaria and trainings for medical staf Conclusions:TLS was efective in blocking the outbreak by P.malariae among forest goers in Hainan in malaria elimination stage.However,whether it could prevent the malaria resurgence in the post-elimination phase needs to be further assessed. | Yuchun Li Yingjuan Huang Renqiang Chen Weizhen Huang Huanzhi Xu Rongshen Ye Shaoling Huang Ji Zhen Xiaodan Wen Guoyi Wang Yong Liu Haishan Li Zaichun Zheng Jian Wang Guoshen Wang Chong Chen Wen Zeng Feng Meng Xiaoming Huang Guangze Wang Bing Yang Yan Chen | 2022 | Infectious Diseases of Poverty2022,11,5: | 0 |
