| 1 | Acute cerebrovascular disease following COVID-19: a single center, retrospective, observational study显示文摘Background and purpose COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2).Apart from respiratory complications,acute cerebrovascular disease(CVD)has been observed in some patients with COVID-19.Therefore,we described the clinical characteristics,laboratory features,treatment and outcomes of CVD complicating SARS-CoV-2 infection.Materials and methods Demographic and clinical characteristics,laboratory findings,treatments and clinical outcomes were collected and analysed.Clinical characteristics and laboratory findings of patients with COVID-19 with or without new-onset CVD were compared.Results Of 219 patients with COVID-19,10(4.6%)developed acute ischaemic stroke and 1(0.5%)had intracerebral haemorrhage.COVID-19 with new onset of CVD were significantly older(75.7±10.8 years vs 52.1±15.3 years,p<0.001),more likely to present with severe COVID-19(81.8%vs 39.9%,p<0.01)and were more likely to have cardiovascular risk factors,including hypertension,diabetes and medical history of CVD(all p<0.05).In addition,they were more likely to have increased inflammatory response and hypercoagulable state as reflected in C reactive protein(51.1(1.3-127.9)vs 12.1(0.1-212.0)mg/L,p<0.05)and D-dimer(6.9(0.3-20.0)vs 0.5(0.1-20.0)mg/L,p<0.001).Of 10 patients with ischemic stroke;6 received antiplatelet treatment with aspirin or clopidogrel;and 3 of them died.The other four patients received anticoagulant treatment with enoxaparin and 2 of them died.As of 24 March 2020,six patients with CVD died(54.5%).Conclusion Acute CVD is not uncommon in COVID-19.Our findings suggest that older patients with risk factors are more likely to develop CVD.The development of CVD is an important negative prognostic factor which requires further study to identify optimal management strategy to combat the COVID-19 outbreak. | Yanan Li Man Li Mengdie Wang Yifan Zhou Jiang Chang Ying Xian David Wang Ling Mao Huijuan Jin Bo Hu | 2020 | Stroke & Vascular Neurology2020,5,3: | 22 |
| 2 | Generation of multi-channel chaotic signals with time delay signature concealment and ultrafast photonic decision making based on a globally-coupled semiconductor laser network显示文摘We propose and demonstrate experimentally and numerically a network of three globally coupled semiconductor lasers(SLs)that generate triple-channel chaotic signals with time delayed signature(TDS)concealment.The effects of the coupling strength and bias current on the concealment of the TDS are investigated.The generated chaotic signals are further applied to reinforcement learning,and a parallel scheme is proposed to solve the multiarmed bandit(MAB)problem.The influences of mutual correlation between signals from different channels,the sampling interval of signals,and the TDS concealment on the performance of decision making are analyzed.Comparisons between the proposed scheme and two existing schemes show that,with a simplified algorithm,the proposed scheme can perform as well as the previous schemes or even better.Moreover,we also consider the robustness of decision making performance against a dynamically changing environment and verify the scalability for MAB problems with different sizes.This proposed globally coupled SL network for a multi-channel chaotic source is simple in structure and easy to implement.The attempt to solve the MAB problem in parallel can provide potential values in the realm of the application of ultrafast photonics intelligence. | Yanan Han Shuiying Xiang Yang Wang Yuanting Ma Bo Wang Aijun Wen Yue Hao | 2020 | Photonics Research2020,8,11: | 6 |
| 3 | Black phosphorus inverter devices enabled by in-situ aluminum surface modification显示文摘Two-dimensional black phosphorus (BP) generally exhibits a hole-dominated transport characteristic when configured as field-effect transistor devices. The effective control of charge carrier type and concentration is very crucial for the application of BP in complementary electronics. Herein, we report a facile and effective electron doping methodology on BP, through in situ surface modification with aluminum (Al). The electron mobility of few-layer BP is found to be largely enhanced to ~ 10.6 cm^2·V^–1·s^–1 by over 6 times after aluminum modification. In situ photoelectron spectroscopy characterization reveals the formation of Al–P covalent bond at the interface, which can also serve as local gate to tune the transport properties in BP layers. | 4 | Concise and efficient direct-view generation of arbitrary cylindrical vector beams by a vortex half-wave plate显示文摘A concise, efficient, and practical direct-view scheme is presented to generate arbitrary cylindrical vector(CV)beams, including CV beams, vortex beams, and cylindrical vector vortex(CVV) beams, by a vortex half-wave plate(VHP). Six kinds of first-order and other high-order CV beams, such as azimuthally polarized(AP) beams, antivortex radial polarization mode beams, and three-order AP beams, are formed by simply rotating a half-wave plate. The Stokes parameters and double-slit interference of multitype CV beams are investigated in detail.The polarization parameters, including degree of polarization, polarization azimuth, and ellipticity, are obtained,which demonstrates the efficient generation of CV beams. In addition, the double-slit interference experiment is introduced in the setup, and fringe misplacement and tilt appear for CVV beams, in which the misplacement number M is 2P+1 for P ≤ 2 and 2P-1 for P ≥ 3, where P is the polarization order number, and the fringe tilt offset is positively related to the topological charge number l of CVV beams. In addition, new types of VHPs can be formed by cascading two or more VHPs when the types of available VHPs are limited, assisting in more flexible generation of multitype CV beams. | 7 | Inhibition of lipogenesis and induction of apoptosis by valproic acid in prostate cancer cells via the C/EBPα/SREBP-1 pathway显示文摘Lipid metabolism reprogramming is now accepted as a new hallmark of cancer.Hence,targeting the lipogenesis pathway may be a potential avenue for cancer treatment.Valproic acid(VPA)emerges as a promising drug for cancer therapy;however,the underlying mechanisms are not yet fully understood.In this study,we aimed to investigate the effects and mechanisms of VPA on cell viability,lipogenesis,and apoptosis in human prostate cancer PC-3 and LNCaP cells.The results showed that VPA significantly reduced lipid accumulation and induced apoptosis of PC-3 and LNCaP cells.Moreover,the expression of CCAAT/enhancer-binding proteinα(C/EBPα),as well as sterol regulatory element-binding protein 1(SREBP-1)and its downstream effectors,including fatty acid synthase(FASN),acetyl CoA carboxylase 1(ACC1),and anti-apoptotic B-cell lymphoma 2(Bcl-2),was markedly decreased in PC-3 and LNCaP cells after VPA administration.Mechanistically,the overexpression of C/EBPαrescued the levels of SREBP-1,FASN,ACC1,and Bcl-2,enhanced lipid accumulation,and attenuated apoptosis of VPA-treated PC-3 cells.Conversely,knockdown of C/EBPαby siRNA further decreased lipid accumulation,enhanced apoptosis,and reduced the levels of SREBP-1,FASN,ACC1,and Bcl-2.In addition,SREBP-1a and 1c enhanced the expressions of FASN and ACC1,but only SREBP-1a had a significant effect on Bcl-2 expression in VPA-treated PC-3 cells.Based on the results,we concluded that VPA significantly inhibits cell viability via decreasing lipogenesis and inducing apoptosis via the C/EBPα/SREBP-1 pathway in prostate cancer cells.Therefore,VPA that targets lipid metabolism and apoptosis is a promising candidate for PCa chemotherapy. | Bo Pang Juanjuan Zhang Xi Zhang Jihong Yuan Yanan Shi Ling Qiao | 2021 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2021,53,3: | 2 |

Three morphological types of the apex, the most characteristic feature of the taxon, are identified from hundreds of Quadrapyrgites specimens. The Quadrapyrgites growth zone is situated at the oral end, where 12 terminal lobes are generated, uplifted, enlarged, and evaginated to form a crest; A one-by-one of crest number from 2 to 13 has been recognized. The unique growth pattern and ontogenetic sequence refute a cubozoan or cycloneuralian affinity for Olivooides and Quadrapyrgites, and instead defend a coronate scyphozoan hypothesis. | 14 | Evaluation of grain breakage sensitivity of maize varieties mechanically-harvested by combine harvester显示文摘A high grain breakage rate is the main problem that occurs during mechanical maize harvest in China.The breakage sensitivity of different varieties was significantly different,and the breakage resistance is heritable.Therefore,breakage resistant variety screening can help improve the field production efficiency and provide references for breeding work.In this study,42 varieties of maize were harvested with the same mechanical parameters and the same manipulator on a range of harvest dates at experimental stations in Xinxiang,Henan Province,in 2017 and Changji,Xinjiang Province,in 2018 to determine the sensitivity of grain moisture content on grain breakage rate during machine harvest for different varieties.The integral value of the grain breakage rate curve corresponding to the range of 15%to 30%grain moisture content was used as an index that expressed the sensitivity of maize grains to breakage depending on grain moisture content(BSW).Forty-two varieties were categorized as having weak,intermediate,or strong BSW.Among the same four varieties in the two stations,Lianchuang 825 and Lianchuang 808 were classified as sensitive and fragile varieties,Shandan 650 was classified as an intermediate variety,Zeyu 8911 was divided into weak sensitive and breakage-resistance varieties in Xinxiang and intermediate varieties in Changji.The BSW classification results at the two experimental sites were generally consistent,indicating that breakage sensitivity due to moisture content may be a relatively stable genetic characteristic.This study suggested that the integral method for determining BSW can be used to assess the resistance of different maize varieties to grain breakage during mechanical harvesting.The integral method was used to identify twelve breakage-resistant varieties in Xinxiang Station,and six breakage-resistant varieties in Changji Station.This study provides a method for screening maize varieties that are suited to mechanical grain harvesting and for studying the mechanisms of grain breakage resistance. | Yizhou Wang Lulu Li Shang Gao Yanan Guo Guoqiang Zhang Bo Ming Ruizhi Xie Jun Xue Peng Hou Keru Wang Shaokun Li | 2020 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2020,13,5: | 1 |

| 16 | Scission of C–O and C–C linkages in lignin over RuRe alloy catalyst显示文摘The performance of lignin depolymerization is basically determined by the interunit C–O and C–C bonds.Numerous C–O bond cleavage strategies have been developed, while the cleavage of C–C bond between the primary aromatic units remains a challenging task due to the high dissociation energy of C–C bond.Herein, a multifunctional Ru Re alloy catalyst was designed, which exhibited exceptional catalytic activity for the cleavage of both C–O and C–C linkages in a broad range of lignin model compounds(β-1, a-5, 5–5,β-O-4, 4-O-5) and two stubborn lignins(kraft lignin and alkaline lignin), affording 97.5% overall yield of monocyclic compounds from model compounds and up to 129% of the maximum theoretical yield of monocyclic products based on C–O bonds cleavage from realistic lignin. Scanning transmission electron microscopy(STEM) characterization showed that Ru Re(1:1) alloy particles with hexagonal close-packed structure were homogeneously dispersed on the support.
